Reconfiguration is one of the most important capabilities of optical networks. This task is performed by operators to re-optimize network resource utilization. Multicast applications such as videoconference online learning, etc., emerge rapidly and cause an increase in bandwidth demand. A multicast connection in an optical network is provided by a light-tree. Due to physical link failures, light-trees are protected by backup paths. Thus, our study focuses on the reconfiguration of a protected light-tree. The reconfiguration problem studied here is to migrate rapidly an optical flow from an old light-tree to a new light-tree without service disruption. To solve this problem, we propose a mechanism based on dependencies graphs. This method establishes simultaneously groups of the final light-tree branches by using shared backup paths spectrum resources. The numerical results show that our approach avoids flow interruptions and reduce significantly the number of steps required to achieve the reconfiguration process more than existing methods.

The key factor affecting the life span of the sensor network when node battery capacity is constrained is communication energy utilization. Although these networks are commonly used, they still require research to make full use of their outstanding features in communication. The utilization of energy is a major issue for which an optimization strategy to minimize energy usage and enhance the service life of the network is recommended. It was achieved by cultivating the energy balance of all Sensor Nodes (SNs) in clusters to reduce the dissipation of energy during data transmission. The aim of this paper is to implement an optimized refined probabilistic methodology to address the issue of how to conserve energy, maintain a balanced system throughput, and extend the lifespan of sensor network. The suggested scheme strengthens the Cluster Head (CH) selection threshold by taking into account the node's residual power, distance between the node, Base Station (BS), node dormancy mechanism and CH Re-election process. The proposed technique employs clustering with set time frame for transmission, which minimizes count of nodes involved in actual data transfer and will increase the lifespan. The proposed methodology helps to choose energy-aware CHs based on a fitness feature that takes SN's remaining energy and the neighboring SN's energy number. Furthermore, the proposed protocol L-DDRI’s (LEACH -Distance Degree Residual Index) efficiency is measured against other common contemporary routing protocols such as Low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH), Uneven Clustering Strategy (UCS) and Distributed Energy-Efficient Clustering (DEEC). Analytical research and extensive simulation demonstrate shows improvement of proposed protocol L-DDRI in terms of lifespan, number of CHs, energy utilization, performance and overall reliability of the network and number of packets sent to Base station other existing technique.

Mobile cloud computing (MCC) can request the service of cloud from the mobile appliance, such as mobile phones, laptops, palm tops and so on for data transfer in such a way to provide more beneficial applications. The consumption of energy is a major problem during the transfer of data in MCC that is needed to be optimized with the allocation of the tasks to mobile or cloud environment in an efficient manner. In order to deal this issue, a hybrid particle-salp (PS-SALP) swarm optimization technique is proposed in this research that incorporates the characteristic features of the particles and the salps leading to better convergence to enhanced solution in the resource allocation of data transfer. The main aim of this paper is to minimize the utility cost (UC) representing a better balance between energy consumption and the period of execution of the task. Initially, the local optimal solutions for each problem is found, followed by which the global optimal solution is obtained using the proposed PS-SALP optimization algorithm. The performance of the proposed technique of data transfer in MCC is analyzed in terms of the metrics, such as UC, energy consumption, and the task execution time. The results show the superiority of the proposed technique in energy efficient data transfer in the MCC environment.

The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles is growing increasingly across many civil benefits, including real-time monitoring, medical emergencies, surveillance, and defence. Many different types of UAVs are being developed to meet the demands of diverse users. Therefore, the research areas in the UAV domain are evolving as the types and number of UAVs increase. UAV’s faces numerous problems in channel accessing, radio allotment, latency and most of these issues are because of the ineffective MAC protocols, moreover MAC is also important because it affects not only the system performance but also the energy efficiency in battery-powered sensor nodes. In this research article various Medium access control (MAC) protocols discussed and qualitatively compared on the basis of various Quality-of-Service (QoS) parameters.
