A state with citizens equipped with scientific and mathematical skills is on its way to industrialization. Equipping citizens with these skills needs effective science and mathematics education which can be achieved by putting into priority the education sector of a country. Republic Act No. 10533 paved the way for the implementation of the K to 12 Education in the Philippines. Senior High School (SHS) starts this June, 2016 and questions on readiness among schools, teachers and students are being raised. This descriptive – developmental research utilized unstructured interview and survey to the purposively selected 21 Grade 10 Math teachers and 350 randomly selected Grade 10 students of the Sorsogon City Division. The gathered data were treated statistically using frequency count, percentage and mean. Findings revealed that students are moderately ready on 17 out of 25 prerequisite competencies of General Mathematics and not ready on 9 of them. An over – all MPS of 40% is attained which means that they are moderately ready for SHS’s General Mathematics. There is an identified least mastered competency per content topic of General Mathematics and a set of Strategic Intervention Materials, AniMath is proposed as an intervention material in order to help the students master the least mastered competencies. Teachers should be aware of the specific prerequisite competencies of SHS’s General Mathematics and together with educational leaders, they should make sure that the prerequisite competencies are mastered before teaching the new competencies in order to ensure readiness.

The study explores on the employability of the Master in Business Administration (MBA) graduates. Differences on the responses of the graduates were also tested in the impact of MBA program to their job performance when group according to employment data. Descriptive type of research method was utilized in the study. Results revealed that all of the surveyed MBA graduates or 100 percent are presently employed locally during the data gathering. The MBA degree program gives them better opportunity to get new jobs, to be in a regular or permanent status and be considered for a job promotion. Furthermore, salaries and benefits as well as career challenge are some of the common reasons of MBA graduates for staying in their current jobs. They see themselves in five years time in the company on how they could handle responsibilities and how far they could move up their positions in the organization. The group of respondents with rank or clerical position has significantly higher responses in terms of the impact of MBA program to their job performance compared to the group of graduates with professional/ technical/ supervisory and managerial/ executive positions. The impact of the MBA to job performance could not be considered as factor to describe the competency of the graduates in terms of curriculum and student outcomes. It is suggested that there is a need to strengthen the research activities of the graduates through the initiative of the university to conduct collaborative research studies with the industry where the MBA graduates are currently employed and make them as co-authors to maximize the utilization of their acquired knowledge and skills in addressing the needs and demands of their respective organizations.

The study was conducted to determine the correlates of the faculty performance of the selected private colleges in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. Descriptive correlational design was adopted using survey questionnaire in data gathering. Weighted mean and Pearson-r were used for statistical analysis. The respondents of the study were 10 full-time faculty members with more than 3 years institutional length of service in each private college with enrollment less than 500 college students and similar number of courses offered namely St. Anthony College of Calapan City, Luna Goco Colleges and ACLC College of Calapan using stratified random sampling employing nonproportional technique for academic year 2015-2016. Correlation analysis revealed that the management processes significantly determined the management and administration of an organization. However, the faculty members’ organizational behavior in terms of individual and organizational levels did not affect the management processes except for group level which was significant because of positive human relation atmosphere. All faculty members’ organizational behavior at different levels dependent upon the performance of personnel administration function. Furthermore, the study also found out that the faculty members’ performance were merit-based evaluated and not merely on management processes. The high performance of faculty members could not guarantee by efficient personnel administration. The faculty members’ organizational behavior could significantly influence by their efficient performance. Finally, the study recommended that the faculty performance should be improved to attain quality education.

Due to very limited attention that has been given to the examination of the adoption of social media tools by non-profit organizations especially in Libya, this paper has explored how non-profit organizations have adopted and used Facebook to achieve their goals. Therefore, through the perceptions of 24 Informants, the study discovered that environmental factors and Facebook dynamism motivated the adoption and use of Facebook to drive non-profit organizations. The analysis covered both the perceptions of managers of the organizations as well as the donors. In order to achieve clearer understanding of these perspectives, the study adequately supported each of the theme, sub-theme and sub sub-theme with model generated by NVivo 10. The findings provide more understanding for nonprofits organizations, donors and companies serving the non-profit sector concerning the most significant behaviour and trends that revolve around Facebook as part of non-profits’ organizations marketing, communications, fundraising, and advocacy works. Finally, it is been recommended that non-profit organizations in Libya pay more attention to the needs of donors in the area of multimedia benefits and personalization of Facebook.

Ready to eat foods are arranged, fitted or placed for immediate use causing no delay for lack of being prepared and usually consumed after preparations by removing non edible parts. The main objective of this study was to determine microbial quality and safety of ready-to -eat cooked foods vended at street of Ambo town. For this study a total of 60 samples of street foods comprising 20 each of meat based sandwich, lentil based sambussa and oil based biscuits were collected from different sales near-by street. Microbial quality and safety of collected food samples were analyzed using selective media: Mannito Salt Agar, Nutrient Agar and Violet Red Bile Agar were used for Staphylococcus, Aerobic Mesophilicand Coliform Counts, respectively. The result indicated that microbial load of lentil based sambussa during Aerobic Mesophilic Count was the highest (2.6x103 cfu/g) as compared to Staphylococcus and coliform counts. In coliform count, the lowest microbial load was indicated on lentil based sambussa (3.5 x 102 cfu/g).

This study aimed to collect folk songs of the Arumanen Manobo, translate the gathered folk songs into Filipino language and identify the cultural values reflected on their folk songs. The scope of the study was confined to the collected folk songs of Arumanen Manobo in Renibon, Pigcawayan North Cotabato. The gathered folk songs were transcribed from Arumanen Manobo to Filipino language and the analysis of cultural values from the translated folk songs was in accordance with the concept of Phil Bartle (2007). The research design used in the study is descriptive content analysis because the main objective of the study was to analyse the cultural values found in Arumanen Manobo folk songs. Findings revealed that Arumanen Manobo have existing folk songs which are transmitted by word of mouth from generation to generation. Further, Arumanen Manobo folk songs conveyed different cultural values reflecting their unique cultural traits as a tribe.

This study aimed to determine the employability of Radiologic Technology graduates from 2013 to 2015. Descriptive type of research was utilized in the study. Results showed that there are 93.8 percent of the BSRT graduates are gainfully employed locally with regular or permanent status. Majority of them landed a job one (1) to 2 years. Career challenge and relevance of course completed to job assignment are the reasons of the graduates for accepting and staying on the job. Communication and critical thinking skills are considered very useful in most BSRT graduates in meeting the demands of their present job. The value of hard work contributed very much to the job placement of most Radiologic Technology graduate-respondents followed by leadership, perseverance, honesty and love for truth and courage (3.64). Courses in Natural science are considered the number one (1) useful aspect for their employment in terms of General Education while Human Anatomy & Physiology and Radiographic Anatomy & Physiology are considered two of the most relevant professional courses to their present employment.

The works and roles of an ideal special education teacher were examined. Different types of disabilities that qualify an individual with special needs for special education programme were spelt out. Similarly, qualities of an ideal special education teacher were discussed. Also activities and skills expected of an ideal special education teacher were examined. The characteristics required of a special education teacher to help persons with special needs maximise their potentials were also stated. This paper researched “an inventory of personal health amenities for safe students habitation of University of Jos”. The total population of the study comprises all the undergraduate students in the University. University of Jos is made up of 10 (ten) facilities with a total population of 12,855 students. Out of this population, 9773 were male and 4082 are female. The sample consists of 500 male and female students of the University. Cluster sampling method was used in selecting the sample from the ten facilities. The sample was distributed among five facilities with each faculty having 100 sampled representations. Questionnaire was used to collect the data which was analyzed. The results of the study shows that majority of the students responded positively that university buildings are well maintained, accept the hostels and classroom blocks. There are inadequate provision of safety devices, the windows and doors are not well protected against harmful insects with wire mesh, the sporting facilities are inadequate and the playground are not free from hazards. In addition, the electricity supply is not constant and there are inadequate standby electricity generators to ensure steady supply of light during interruption. Similarly, waste disposal systems are not given prior attention which leads to disposal of waste materials in every hook and corners of the hostels and classroom areas of the university. With regard to toilet facilities, it is concluded that the number of toilet facilities does not meet the needs of the growing population of the students in the campus. More so, the water supply on campus lack good quality and inadequate storage system to meet the health needs of individual’s student. The inadequacy of these health amenities may affect the physical, social, cultural, biological and emotional environment of the school that influences, habits, attitudes, comfort, safety and working efficiency of students and personnel.

This study aimed to determine the correlation between the academic performance and learning styles of Liberal Arts students in Physical Science of the College of Education, Arts and Sciences in Lyceum of the Philippines University. This study employed the evaluative design using the descriptive method of research. The subjects of this study involved the whole population of the first year AB-Multimedia Arts students who were enrolled during first semester school year 2014-2015. The statistical tools used in this study were frequency distribution, Weighted Mean and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. All data were treated statistically using PASW version 18 at 0.05 alpha level. The findings of the study revealed that students have satisfactory academic performance that they often learned through visual modality and kinesthetic modality but sometimes learned through auditory modality. Furthermore the academic performance of students is correlated to auditory modality. Instructional development activities were proposed which is then recommended to be used by physical chemistry instructors in their instruction.

The descriptive method utilizing the survey approach was used in this study. The study concluded that respondents believe that self- inquiry is the main reason for students’ absences in class. Respondents likewise agree that absenteeism results to poor students’ individual learning performance and school performance. It was further concluded that there is a significant relationship between the absenteeism and students’ individual learning performance and school performance. – The study aims to determine the job performance of computer engineering graduates based on the evaluation of their immediate superiors or employers in terms of competence, commitment, caring and credibility. Descriptive type of research was utilized in the study. Results showed that the graduates obtained highest performance rating in demonstrating passion for execution and sense of urgency in all tasks, working professionally with the team in applying suitable technology to accomplish certain task and practicing honesty, fairness and transparency in all business transactions with the stakeholders. However, they obtained the least scores in providing sound decision making in responding to the needs of the organization and demonstrating assertive communication skills in dealing with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders.

This study determined the Industry – Partners’ Feedback on the graduates of Masters in Public Administration as basis of curriculum enhancement. More specifically, it assessed the relevance of the MPA curriculum of Lyceum of the Philippines University in terms of its philosophy and objectives, and learning experiences and identifying the feedback on the level of competencies of the graduates in their respective workplaces. The study utilized the descriptive qualitative and quantitative research in order to determine the industry partner’s assessment on the curriculum of the MPA program in LPU. Findings revealed that the curriculum of the Master in Public administration in Lyceum of the Philippines University excellently conforms to the demands of the industry specifically on the area of Human Resource Management. The rating of the employers on the ability of the graduates to articulate public service perspective and skills on their ability to integrate theories in public administration are clear manifestations on the LPU curriculum which has adopted the Outcomes Based Education approach. The skills developed by LPU graduates have shown significant effect on the absorption of the graduates by the labour market. Though organizations vary in their perceptions, there is no mismatch on the skills provided to the students in the graduate school of LPU vis- a vis public and private graduate employment market. The proposed enhancement may be utilized by the Graduate school on areas deemed need to improve.

The study aims to determine the effects of absenteeism among fourth year students to their learning performance. The study utilized descriptive research method. The quantitative research techniques using Likert scale was used to rate the individual and school performance due to absenteeism. And also frequency test for the cause of it whether it is self-inquiry or a family problem. The respondents agree that self- inquiry is the main reason for a student to make an absence as what is being taken notice by other students. The teacher respondents look at the situation in a different angle, and most have agreed self – inquiry have caused the truancy of their students. Majority of the respondents see that the lack of family support had pushed absenteeism to what it is now. For the effect of absenteeism to student individual learning performance, both teacher and student population agreed that students perform poor in class followed by social relation with classmates and social relation with teachers. While for the effect of absenteeism to school performance all variables voiced out a poor result as a main factor.

This study evaluated the potential antigenotoxicity of coffee and cacao against tetracycline-induced genotoxicity in Swiss albino mice. Laid out on a Completely Randomized Design, eight treatments replicated three times were randomly distributed to 24 caged mice. The experimental treatments were as follows: Treatment 0, Pure distilled water (Negative control); Treatment 1, Roasted coffee plus tetracycline; Treatment 2, Unroasted coffee plus tetracycline; Treatment 3, Instant coffee plus tetracycline; Treatment 4, Roasted cacao plus tetracycline; Treatment 5, Unroasted cacao plus tetracycline; Treatment 6, Instant cacao plus tetracycline; Treatment 7, Tetracycline (Positive control). Micronucleus test was used to assess the inhibitory effect of coffee and cacao prepared extracts. DMRT was used to assess the significant differences among treatment means while Dunnett’s test was used to compare experimental treatments against positive and negative controls. ANOVA showed significant differences among treatments at 5% level of significance. Unroasted coffee possessed the highest antigenotoxic potential while instant coffee had the least among the coffee extracts. In contrast, instant cocoa had the highest antigenotoxic potential while unroasted cocoa had the least among the cocoa extracts. Both coffee and cacao extracts are effective in significantly reducing (p<0.05) the formation of micronuclei in polychromatic erythrocytes of the tetracycline-treated albino mice.

This study examined the performance indicators and job commitment of university graduates during the one year mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC) programme in Oyo state, Nigeria. The study looked at job satisfaction, employer’s motivation influence on job commitment of NYSC members serving in Oyo state. The study adopted the descriptive ex-post facto research design. 330 respondents were randomly selected from five local governments within Ibadan metropolis to represent the sample population for the study. Three types of questionnaires were developed and validated to measure the performance indicators and job commitment of NYSC members. The study shows a significant relationship between job satisfaction and job commitment of NYSC members in Oyo state and it was recommended that employers of NYSC members during the one year mandatory service year need to create an atmosphere of job satisfaction for the NYSC members by providing organisational reward policies.

This literature review explores the extent of integrating educational technology in contemporary classroom environment among the ASEAN Member States focusing more on the undeveloped and developing countries. It describes the profile of the countries under study in terms of the total population, gross national income (GNI), literacy rating and ICT development index (IDI) and to determine the barriers for educational technology integration; and test the correlation among the profile variables. Results showed that some of the identified probable causes of educational technology integration in most developing countries are: inadequate financial support and infrastructure, human capital, management support, as well as behavioural and environmental aspects. Gross National income is considered a factor that can directly or indirectly influence the Literacy rating and ICT Development Index value of the country while the total population based on ranking of countries has nothing to do with the ranking of GNI, Literacy Rating and IDI value of each country.

The study investigated the influence of the Big Five Personality Traits and locus of control on road safety rules compliance among motorcycle riders in North-Central Nigeria. Two hundred and sixty four (232 males and 32 females) respondents were purposively sampled to participate in the study. Their ages ranged from 15 to 60 years with the mean age of 27.19 years. Cross sectional research design was employed for the study. Hierarchical regression was used to test the hypotheses. Consistent with hypothesis one, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness statistically predicted road safety rules compliance significantly (∆R2= 0.08, F(5, 181) = 3.32; P<0.01). Independently, extraversion, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness did not predict road safety rules compliance significantly. Agreeableness however significantly predicted road safety rules compliance significantly (t= 2.50, P< 0.05, β= 0.30). Locus of control did not significantly predict road safety rules compliance (∆R2= 0.01, F (1, 180) = 1.44; P>0.05).These results were explained in line with the standard of living of people in Nigeria. It was recommended that frequent enlightenment programmes should be organized for Motorcycle riders to ensure road safety rules compliance.

This paper considers the first ever novel and the last one published by the Ivorian author, Ahmadou kourouma before his death, in a stylistic comparative exposition. While most other research works seem to see a stylistic distance between these two works, this paper has been able to establish a rapprochement by unearthing the salient oral narrative techniques employed by the author in the two fictions. Hence, rather than being poles apart, this research study has proved that a common flavour of orality sustains artistic creativity in both narrations.

This study examined the place of graduate qualification in principal appointment process in Nigeria. It also investigated the influence of principals’ graduate qualifications on secondary school effectiveness in Nigeria. Using the descriptive survey design, the study adopted multi-stage sampling technique. Three instruments: “School Effectiveness Questionnaire for Principals” (SEQP), “School Effectiveness Questionnaire for Teachers” (SEQT) and a semi structured Interview Guide were used in the study. The study found that: graduate qualification had no influence on selection to the post of principal as it was not one of the requisite qualifications for appointment as principal; that quality of the school principal in terms of qualification possessed had positive influence on school effectiveness. Incorporation of relevant post graduate certification as part of requirement for principal appointment was recommended.

This study aims 1) to reveal models of factual supervision of guidance and counseling that has been taking place; 2) to describe and analyze models of supervision guidance and counseling that is structured, systematic and in accordance with needs, and 3) to analyze the effectiveness of structured reflecting teams in group supervision models on counselor capabilities. This study utilizes research and development approach, which consists of three stages of preliminary study with a qualitative approach revealing factual supervision model of guidance and counseling, development and validation of models involving experts and practitioners supported by doing FGD, resulting in a hypothetical model that is ready to be tested, and limited trial using one group pretest-posttest design to determine the effectiveness of the model. The results show that: 1) model of supervision guidance and counseling has not run effectively in terms of planning, implementation, and evaluation; 2) Development of guidance and counseling supervision models with structured techniques reflecting teams in group supervision (SRTS) begins with a needs analysis study (need Assessment), followed by validation experts and practitioners to the conceptual model; 3) The results of the revised conceptual model generate hypothetical model that is ready to be field tested. Analysis results of counseling supervision model test using the technique of structured reflecting teams in group supervision show that this model is very effective for counselors in carrying out the supervision of guidance and counseling.

The present research study examined the grammatical errors of Technology student teachers’ utterance structure. This qualitative study was conducted to answer two questions: (1) what are the language backgrounds of the Technology student teachers; and (2) what are their common grammatical errors during the on-campus teaching. To address the first question, the participants were personally interviewed for their language background utilizing the developed and modified interview guide. On the other hand, to address the second question, the participants’ Technology classes were observed and video recorded for transcriptions. Results demonstrate that the native language (Filipino) of the student teachers was the most commonly used. The findings also show that as regard to the grammatical errors, misinformation and omission account for most of the total errors identified, with addition and ordering of elements being less frequent among the student teachers’ utterances. Further, it is also observed that technology student teachers repeatedly use the wrong forms of the words in place of the correct ones. These errors in their utterance structure are the results of the influence of their native language structures to produce a spoken discourse of the English language (L2).

The study aimed to find out the benefits of co-curricular activities of the Financial and Management Accounting Students to their academic performance, skills, attitudes and knowledge; to identify the reasons in joining in activities; to be aware about the benefits of cocurricular activities to their academic performance; and to know the factors that affect in joining cocurricular activities. The descriptive method of research utilizing the normative survey technique was employed in the study. Results showed that majority of the respondents are female, 19-20 years old, with 2.01-2.25 general weighted average. Pleasure and enjoyment are the most common reasons of students why they join the activities. The benefits of these activity matter over the knowledge, skills, attitude and academic performance. Peer, family, student and school are the factors that affect the students in joining co-curricular activities.

The study aimed to determine the satisfaction and problems encountered of accounting students in learning professional subjects from the institutions of higher learning in Batangas City, Philippines in terms of learning style, teaching style of the professors and facilities. The researchers used the descriptive method in conducting the study. The samples were randomly selected per school using stratified proportional allocation. The study revealed that the use of various teaching aids makes the student satisfied in terms of the teaching strategy of the professor. The students are less satisfied to the university’s quickness to respond to student suggestions about improving facilities through suggestion boxes and the ways they do it. The study also showed that there is no significant difference in variables as to learning style. However there is a significant difference as to teaching style in terms of age, sex and year level, as well as in facilities in terms of program and also in year level as it interpreted highly significant. And the most common problem encountered by accounting students is not taking down notes, outlining and practicing problem-solving skills.

The study set out to determine the differential effects of using two teaching methods on senior secondary school students’ achievement in geography curriculum in Plateau State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study used Discussion and field trip methods to teach “Types and Characteristics of rocks” in geography. Three research questions were posed and answered while one hypothesis was formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. It was an experimental study.The findings show that students taught using discussion method had higher means (23.4, 49.16) in their ability to recognize and describe the characteristics of the three types of rocks than the students who were taught using field trip method who had lower means (13.9, 47.6) in their ability to recognize and describe the characteristics of the three types of rocks they were exposed to in the field. Also in determining the extent to which SS1 students achievement in geography differ when taught using discussion and field trip methods showed that the mean score of those taught using discussion is higher (X =72.6) than those taught using field trip (X = 61.2). Similarly, the hypothesis tested at 0.05 level of significance was rejected in favour of discussion method (t-calculated =3.37 while t-critical = 1.7 ).
