Indigo fabric is created by dying silk or cotton with color from the true indigo plant (Indigofera tinctoria) and is a valuable commodity in Northeastern Thai communities. This is a qualitative investigation with two principal research aims: 1) To study the history and background of indigo-dyed fabric in Sakon Nakhon Province; 2) To study the current conditions and application of traditional knowledge in creating indigo-dyed fabric in Sakon Nakhon Province, Thailand. Data for this investigation were collected from document analysis and field research between July 2013 and July 2014. Results show that weaving groups are sponsored by the government and the local community to produce indigo-dyed fabric that can be transformed into a variety of different products that meet consumer needs. These products include blankets, scarves, shawls, formal wear and bags. Weaving communities prefer to use materials from the surrounding environment. Community members cultivate their own true indigo plants using the traditional processes inherited from generation to generation. The dye creation process requires plant matter to be soaked in water for 24 hours before it can be used in the dye mixture. The traditional dye mixture is 4 liters of indigo plant, 2 liters of natural lye water and 1 tablespoon of white lime. During the dyeing process, the cotton fabric is stirred and wring in the dye mixture until the color holds. The fabric is then rested and the process is repeated to achieve the desired hue. The quality of the dye is then tested by washing the fabric in clean water. By applying the resourcefulness of traditional knowledge used in the dye creation process to the marketing and sale of indigo fabric, the entire production will benefit.

This qualitative investigation had three research aims: 1) To study the history and background of the hotel industry in Isan; 2) To study the current situation and problems with using art in order to develop the tourism industry in Thailand; 3) To study the integration of art and culture to develop the hotel business in North-eastern Thailand. Nine hotels were selected from four provinces in North-eastern Thailand as the research population and the research sample was composed of 86 individuals. Tools used for data collection were survey, observation, interview, focus group discussion and workshop. Results show that hoteliers in North-eastern Thailand developed their businesses as a reaction to the economic crisis and failing trade. To attract more tourists to the region, hotel managers integrated traditional Thai art to their businesses, especially local Isan art. This investigation of nine hotels in Isan identified nine areas in which art has been integrated into hotel businesses. These are paintings, sculptures, architecture, literature, music and dance , the four Buddhist necessities of life (food, accommodation, clothing and medicine), beliefs, customs and ceremonies. By integrating elements of each of these categories into their hotels, business owners and managers have been able to generate extra trade.

The study however focused on the need for integrating French language into the schools’ curriculum, the governmental efforts, and the major factors confronting effective teaching of French language. It was however concluded that all efforts to teach French as second language how failed. Possible solutions were recommended.

The assessment of student learning is a continuous process geared towards understanding and improving student learning hence an assurance of providing quality education. It is a fundamental function of higher education and one of the primary roles of its faculty. This research investigated perceptions, practices and skills of faculty of a university extension campus on assessment of student learning. It relied on descriptive survey method to investigate responses of 77 teachers. The respondents regard assessment as useful, important and should be integrated with learning process. Faculty also place importance on purposes of evaluation in student learning and use varied assessment tools. In spite of various assessment tools used, majority of respondents are only somewhat skilled in performing tasks incident to assessment. University academic guidelines, applicable professional licensure examination, qualifying / classification test, university grading standard and their immediate academic supervisor affect faculty’s assessment practices. The respondents specify some problems and concerns on assessment. The results serve as basis in coming up with proposed strategies for continuous enhancement of assessment are conceptualized for possible implementation.

This investigation has three primary aims: 1) to study the traditional knowledge of Benjarong in Samut Sakhon Province; 2) to study designs and the production process of Benjarong sanitary ware in Samut Sakhon Province; 3) to develop Benjarong sanitary ware for commerce in Samut Sakhon Province. The research area for this investigation was purposively selected as Samut Sakhon Province. Data was gathered by document study, survey, participant and non-participant observation, structured and non-structured interview, focus group discussion and workshop. Results show that Benjarong sanitary products have been inherited from generation to generation in Samut Sakhon Province and continue to provide local jobs. Benjarong sanitary ware production uses a high budget because of the high price of colour inks, gold and electricity, so there are problems securing adequate funding. There are also problems with the management process and a lack of expert craftsmen to write and design modern patterns in harmony with contemporary art and Thai social identity. Moreover, many Thai people do not realize the value of cultural heritage and Benjarong inheritance is at risk. Benjarong sanitary ware can reflect local knowledge and traditional handicrafts. The researchers propose patterns for three types of Benjarong sanitary ware: washbasins, wall tiles and soap ledges. Development of these products will increase functionality and aesthetics, whilst maintaining Thai heritage.

This examines the Practices in Transparency and Effectiveness of Government Officials and Workers as perceived and observed by the respondents. Descriptive - type of research was utilized to the study. Results showed that the best practices of government officials and workers in the city of Passi are highly transparent and effective as they are perceived and observed by the respondents. Transparency and effectiveness have significant relationship. The officials and workers of Passi city are highly transparent in taxation, budgeting, and meetings and effective in policy facilitation and integrity; functional and operational expertise; initiative; and personal development. It is commended that transparency be improved because it influence effectiveness through more training by government agencies concerned with transparency such as ombudsman, civil service commission, and department of justice . Furthermore, the city government may improve its transparency campaign because it has multiplier effect towards productivity which may lead to progress and development.

This paper examined the issues in socio economic crises and how they saved as threat to effective implementation of entrepreneurship education program. The study however focused on the concepts, types of courses and effects of socioeconomic crises on the entrepreneurship education program in Nigeria. It was therefore concluded that the socioeconomic crises such as indulgency, inflationary trends vitiation, rioting, armed robbery and ethno religions crises constitute a great threat to effective implementation of entrepreneurship education program in Nigeria. It was however recommended that community members should be actively involved in the eradication of all sorts of social crises so that entrepreneurship education program should be effectively complemented in Nigeria. This study sought to determine Corporate Social Responsibility approaches and implementation in Fast Food Restaurants in Batangas City, Philippines. The researchers employed a descriptive design and quantitative method in the analysis of data with the questionnaire as the main instrument. Five (5) restaurant- participants were purposively chosen from the total population of 15. Results showed that CSR related mission/vision is clearly not embedded in the institutional websites of fast food restaurants while personal relation/social proximity approach is highly evident. Also, factors in the implementation of corporate social responsibility in relation to philanthropic behavior, shows a significant behavioral change from the statistical result such as moderately evident. CSR approaches and implementation are highly evident that clearly proves the responsible behavior of local fast food restaurants. Institutional integration of CSR in the company’s mission/vision statements, structure, decisions, activities, communication, practices stated appears to be beneficial in light of newcorporate-state-market-society relationship

- This study aimed to determine the changing learning needs of student nurses in terms of cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains as input to the nursing curriculum. Descriptive correlational research which includes weighted mean, Pearson r and qualitative analysis were utilized to analyze and interpret the results. The subjects were the nursing students and clinical instructors. The top changing learning need of students in terms of cognitive was the use of PowerPoint presentation, film viewing and video presentation of the topic discussion. As to psychomotor, the top specific learning need was the initiation of teambuilding to unite students and develop camaraderie. In terms of affective domain, the top learning need identified was clinical exposure to apply learned concepts and information. Clinical Instructors perceived the top changing learning need of nursing student as the use of simulation laboratory with new equipment. Thus the authors recommend continuous exploration among nursing students for their changing learning needs. The clinical instructors and the College of Nursing may continue to evaluate the needs of its students and be updated with the latest trends in Health Education particularly the nursing program.

Understanding the dynamics of vehicular traffic is important to planning and improving shared public roadways, not only to effectively and efficiently facilitate the controlled movement of vehicles, but also to guarantee the safety of individuals in the vehicles. Because data from real-world traffic is difficult to measure, and conducting replicated experiments on humans has ethical and economical questions, selecting the best scheme out of the proposed vehicular traffic controls has been confined only through simulation. We present the result of our microsimulation study on the effects of six traffic schemes T={t0, t1, ..., t5} on the mean total delay time (Δ) and mean speed (Σ) of vehicles at the non-signalized Bicutan Roundabout (BR) in Upper Bicutan, Taguig City, Metro Manila, with t0 as the current traffic scheme being enforced and ti>0 as the proposed ones. We present first that our simulation approach, a hybridized multi-agent system (MAS) with the car-following and lane-changing models (CLM), can mimic the current observed traffic scenario C at a statistical significance of α=0.05. That is, the respective absolute differences of the Δ and Σ between C and t0 are not statistically different from zero. Next, using our MAS-CLM, we simulated all proposed ti>0 and compared their respective Δ and Σ. We found out using DMRT that the best traffic scheme is t3 (i.e., when we converted the bi-directional 4-lane PNR-PNCC road into a bi-directional 1-lane PNR-to-PNCC and 3-lane PNCC-to-PNR routes during rush hours). Then, we experimented on converting BR into a signalized junction and re-implemented all t3 with controlled stops of S={15s, 45s}. We found out that t3 with a 15-s stop has the best performance. Finally, we simulated the effect of increased in vehicular volume V due to traffic improvement and we found out that t3 with 15-s stop still outperforms the others for all increased in V={10%, 50%, 100%}.
