T2255C polymorphism (rs2359612) of vitamin K epoxide reductase (VKORC1) gene was determined in 170 patients with ischemic atherothrombotic stroke (IAS) and in 124 persons of the control group. It was shown that the distribution of major allele homozygotes, heterozygotes and minor allele homozygotes in patients with IAS was 25,3%, 42,4%, 32,3% (in control – 36,3%, 42,7%, 21,0%; χ2 = 6,272; P = 0,043). According to logistic regression method the risk of IAS development in carriers of C/C genotype is 2.2 times higher than in the representatives of T/T genotype (OR = 2,214; P = 0.013). It has been proven the association with IAS for some studied risk factors. The risk of IAS in men with C/C genotype is 2.5 times higher than in the carriers of main allele T/T (OR = 2,522; P = 0.023). A statistically significant relationship between the level of blood pressure and the likelihood of IAS development in heterozygotes (T/C) was revealed (χ2 = 6,933; P = 0.008). It was found that homozygotes for the minor allele (C/C) with BMI <25 kg/m2 have the risk of stroke is almost 4 times higher than the carriers of T/T genotype (OR = 3,857; P = 0.034). Genotype C/C carriers without obesity 2.6 times more likely suffer from IAS, than the representatives of the T/T genotype (OR = 2,643; P = 0.011). Among those who do not smoke, the risk of IAS is higher among representatives of the C/C genotype (χ2 = 7,093; P = 0.029). Thus, there is the association of T2255C polymorphism of VKORC1 gene with ischemic atherothrombotic stroke in patients with its various risk factors.

Skin regeneration is a complex dynamic process by which restores the structure and function of the external cover. In the case of large defects of the skin allografts were the methods of choice in recent decades. The disadvantages of this therapy are the presence of pain, the appearance of scars and increased mortality. The tissue engineering methods artificial materials are widely developed in recent decades for large skin defects treatment. Chitosan is one of the most promising agents in the development of materials for the treatment of major defects of the skin. Currently, there are materials in the form of hydrogel, membranes and sponges based on chitosan, which has shown high efficacy in the treatment of wounds, both in experimental and clinical settings. Nevertheless, there is a need to find new forms and compositions based on chitosan to improve health outcomes, reduce product cost and optimizing the production of materials. The aim of this work was to study the features of skin regeneration after mechanical trauma when applying chitosan membranes at the different ages. The study of the processes of skin regeneration was carried out on 180 white laboratory rats of three age categories. All the animals were randomized into 2 series - experimental and control. After injury, the animals of control series were performed daily standard wound toilet with sterile gauze, experimental series - for the topical treatment received daily applications of experimental chitosan membranes. The animals were taken from the experiment in 1, 3, 7, 14 and 21 days, which corresponds to the terms that characterize the main stages of the process of skin regeneration. We used scraping by "surface biopsy" method as well as skin imprint to get a full picture of the cellular composition of the surface defect. The use of chitosan films in the management of mechanical trauma to the skin helps to optimize intercellular cooperation, reduce the severity of inflammatory processes, leads to an increase in the number of macrophages and as a consequence - to accelerate the purification of surface and earlier formation of new tissue.

Barrett's esophagus (BE) is the most important risk factor for esophageal adenocarcinoma. High resolution magnification endoscopy with Narrow band imaging (NBI) facilitates mucosal surface evaluation and may improve the endoscopic diagnosis of Barrett’s esophagus. The aim of this work was to study the diagnostic value of chromo endoscopy versus NBI in detection of Barrett’s esophagus. Patients and methods: Forty patients their conventional white light endoscopy revealed the diagnosis of GERD and showed findings suggestive of Barrett’s esophagus, they were divided into 20 patients underwent chromo endoscopy and 20 patients underwent Narrow band imaging (NBI), The endoscopic results of both groups were compared with the final histo pathological diagnosis. Results: NBI showed higher accuracy than chromo endoscopy 75 % which vs. 70 % P< 0.05 in detection of BE. NBI had an accuracy of 70 and 75 % in type A pattern (round pits with regular microvasculature) to predict columnar mucosa without intestinal metaplasia and type B pattern (villous pits with regular microvasculature) to predict specialized intestinal metaplasia respectively. Conclusion: NBI is not only helpful in detecting metaplasia but also in differentiating cardiac from intestinal metaplasia, as it allows clear visualization of micro structural and micro vascular patterns.
