ALCEU is the journal of communication, culture, and politics of the Department of Social Communication at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). The journal was created in honor of the journalist and thinker Alceu Amoroso Lima, who was one of the founders of PUC-Rio. Its first issue, July-December/2000, circulated in print format only. Beginning in 2004, the journal gained an online version as well. Today, ALCEU is published exclusively through its digital platform. It holds a B1 score in the Qualis Capes evaluation system.
