Chasqui is a bilingual academic journal (edited in Spanish and Portuguese) with a tradition of more than forty years as a debate stage in the Latin American communication field. It was created in 1972 and, since then, it is edited by the International Center for Advanced Studies in Communication for Latin America, CIESPAL, based in Quito, Ecuador.
As a specialized journal, Chasqui publishes works related to communication, mainly in the following areas: a) Perspectives and critical reflections on the links between communication and development. b) Reflections on the economies and policies of information and communication. c) Cultural studies and analyzes on the theories of mediation. d) Critical analyzes on the imbrications and tensions between communication technologies and politics. e) Journalism and new information cultures.
The journal receives both scientific articles or essays. Chasqui does not charge its authors for sending articles or processing them.
