Amavata is a disease which is comparably correlated with Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in modern science. It is an auto immune disease. Amavata is a disease in which there is vitiated vata and accumulation of ama in joints. A patient suffering from multiple joint pain, swelling in both legs and hands, poor appetite (mandagni), backache with no past history of Diabetes mellitus and hypertension for the past 5 years was admitted to our hospital. Her quality of life was improved and there was symptomatic relief after few weeks of ayurvedic treatment.

Spoiling in unsalutary daily life and diet patterns precedes to digestive disorders, disrupted bowel habits and constipation due to Agnimandya. One most important condition occurring from all these is Gudarsha. It has been notorious to mankind for a period and one of the ordinariest diseases to alter human being. It is revealed in ‘Ashtamahagada’ classification (cluster of diseases which are difficult to treat) by Sushruta and four fold therapy is supported for Arsha viz. Bheshaj (Pharmaceutical treatment), Kshar karma (Herbal acidic paste locally), Agnikarma (thermal heat burn) and Shastra karma (Surgical Procedure). At this time, we are describing a patient of gudarsh treated with Arshohar malhar and is found effective in reducing symptoms such as per rectal bleeding, pain, and size of pile pedicle. The current study was carried out to demonstrate the beneficial effect of application of Arshohar malhar in Malhar formula in initial internal haemorrhoids

Recurrent infections has adverse effects on normal growth and development of the child. Tonsillitis is the inflammation of the tonsils two oval shaped pads at the back of the throat which are immune systems first line of defense. Tonsillitis hampers the quality of life due to its recurrent attacks. Tonsillitis is very common in pediatric practice. There are about 74,55,494 cases of Tonsillitis in India per year. Modern medicine provides symptomatic relief but does not check the recurrence and also has side effects. Moreover, chronic conditions are often treated by tonsillectomy which also has its own complications/drawbacks. So, there is a need to find out a safe and effective remedy which not only relieves the symptoms but also increases wellbeing. It can be traced by unsheathed treasure of Ayurveda. Tonsillitis can be corelated with Tundikeri in Ayurveda. Tundikeri is caused by Agni mandya, Kapha and Rakta dosha due to improper diet, poor oral hygiene and sedentary lifestyle. Ayurveda provides different treatment modalities to cure diseases. This paper is an attempt to highlight the clinical picture of Tundikeri and its management through Ayurveda.

Most of the skin diseases are described under heading of Kusta roga in Ayurveda. One of them is Dadru kusta most common dermatological condition seen in clinical practice with features of Kandu, Raga, Pidaka, Udgata, Mandala. More to add the incidence contagiousness of Dadru is increasing due to tendency of unclean habits and sharing clothes. High moist environmental temperature added with overweight and obesity precipitating increased sweating predisposes to high incidence of the Dadru in general population. This illness exhibits a prompt response if treated carefully. Chakramarda is a drug which helps in treating the dadru kusta as the synonym dadrughna. Chakramarda possess properties such as katu, ruksha, laghu, kaphavatahara, which helps in treating the dadru Kushta. A 49-year-old female was examined for Tinea infection. Detailed history, microscopic examinations with 10% KOH was done on skin scrapings revealed the presence of fungi. The treatment of kusta includes shodhana, shamana and bahirparimarjana where the topical application played a supreme result within a short course of time.

Menstrual cycle in Ayurveda is called Rituchakra, consists of three phases - Rajasravakala, Rutukala and Rutuvyateetakala. Its proper onset denotes a normal functioning H-P-O axis and healthy reproductive system. Ritumaticharya plays an important role as a preliminary purificatory procedure which prepares women for healthy conception. Rajaswalacharya is the regimen laid down from the 1st day to three consecutive days of menstruation. It includes Bhramacharya, avoid religious customs, use of Darbhakushashayana , use of Ajarjarapatra , avoid all types of ornaments , cosmetics such as lepa, Anjana, Abhyanjana , avoid laughing , talking loudly and excessively etc. The food advised during these days should be Laghu, Snigdhaguna, Sheetaveerya, Madhuravipaka. In recent times there has been a drastic lifestyle changes with abundance of food and more sedentary existence leading to a metabolic, endocrinal, reproductive functional imbalance. The erratic life style and increased stress and strain have resultantly expanded the Dushti of Artava and Artavavahasrotas. As a result, the diseases of Artava are manifested in the form of Ashtaartavadushti, Asrigdara, Yonivyapad, and leading to a major threat i.e. infertility. So, following Rajaswalacharya & Pathyaapathya is the need of hour to reduce the morbidity in Artavavahasrotas.

Introduction- Patoladi Kwath is herbal compound formulation mentioned in Chakradatta Amlapitta Rogadhikara. It contains Patola, Dhanyak, Sunthi and Musta. Whereas another indications of the formulation are Mandagni, Jwara, Chhardi, Daha, Shoola, Ama and diseases caused by provocation of Tridosha. Materials & Methods- Patoladi Kwath was subjected to Pharmacognostical and Physico-chemical analysis such as microscopic study, loss on drying, ash value etc. Results & Discussion- The Pharmacognostical study showed the presence of contents such as; spiral vessels of Patola, vittae cells of Dhanyak, starch grains of Sunthi, cork cells of Musta etc. The Pharmaceutical analysis showed that the loss on drying value 5.12%, pH Value 7.5, Alcohol soluble extract 8.4%, Ash value 5.9% etc. HPTLC study of Patoladi Kwath revealed 4 spots at 254 nm and at 366 nm each. Conclusion- The present work was carried out to standardize the finished product Patoladi Kwath in terms of its identity, quality and purity. Pharmacognostical and Physico-chemical observations revealed the specific characters of all active constituents used in the preparation.

Introduction A case report of 55 year old Male who complained of a non-healing chronic ulcer with pain, itching, blackish discoloration of left leg since 1 year Materials and Methods The subject who approached Shalya Tantra OPD of Taranath Government Ayurvedic Medical College, Ballari was systematically reviewed and Dustavrana line of intervention was planned. Results The Dustavrana was turned into Shuddhavrana within 21 days of treatment as shown in photographs. Discussion As Dusta vrana refuses to heal or heals very slowly inspite of best efforts. To achieve approximation, early healing and acceptable scar without complications it’s been managed with multiple treatment modalities like prakshalana, dhoopana for vranashodhanartha and lepa, leech application for vrana ropanartha and vrana bandhana for early healing were followed. The symptoms like pain, discharge etc., has markedly reduced after 1 st & 2nd sitting of leech therapy.

It is characterized by severe pain, tenderness, inflammation and burning sensation in affected joint. These causative factors are unwholesome for the disease and can aggravate the condition.Hence, the first line of treatment for this disease is ‘Nidanparimarjana’, for that it is necessary to understand the Nidan of Vatarakta. This disease is controlled by adopting certain life style modification & certain Ayurvedic modalities viz. Shodhan and Shaman chikitsa it can be cure.

In Ayurveda system of medicine, diseases are mainly classified into Shareerika Roga and Manasaroga based on the Adhistana. To manage these, chikitsa has been categorized into three types i.e., Daivavyapashraya, Yuktivyapashraya and Satvavajaya. Faith is a part and parcel of human psychology. Daivavyapashraya is a sort of faith therapy being used in the management of both Shareerika Roga and Manasaroga. The methods adopted are chanting Mantra(hymns), Oshadhi(tying medicinal plants),Mani(wearing of gems), Mangala(performing auspicious ceremony), Bali(oblations), Upahara(offering), Homa(performing yajna), Niyama(religious observance), Prayashchitta(atonement), Upavasa(fasting), Svastyayana(chanting of auspicious hymns), Pranipata(surrendering to god) and Yatragamana (going to pilgrimage) etc. Purpose of this conceptual study is to understand the concept of Daivavyapashraya Chikitsa in Ayurveda. Among trividha chikitsa, Daivavyapashraya Chikitsa has been mentioned in the beginning because of its “Ashukaritva”. It acts as Vyadhihara because of Devaprabhava.

Kabsura kudineer is a Sastric Siddha Medicine indicated for the fever and respiratory illnesses. It contains 15 herbs in equal proportions and are from varied plant parts like root, rhizomes, leafs, buds etc. Because of this, density variation will occur when they are packed together. Even if they were pulverized to equal size these variations likely to occur and results in uneven dosage. This also results in poor quality of product which in turn effect the efficacy. The present paper gives the insight of the variations and how to overcome the dosage and quality limitations with ‘extract embedment technique’. Details are presented in the paper.

It has become the need of the hour to explore the classical water purificatory formulations and to validate them under the modern scientific settings.

Introduction: Menstrual cycle is a physiological periodic process occurring in women for most part of their lifetime. It is of paramount importance that the Stree is in good health not only for her own well-being but also for the well-being of the impending offspring. It is also important that Stree is prone to health risk if there is imbalance of Doshas in her body. Similarly, the quality of Artava also determines the health of the menstruating Stree and if there is any imbalance then the same may result in Artavakshaya or pathological conditions like dysmenorrhea, menhorragia etc., Objectives: To find physiological and psychological changes occurring during Rutuchakra based on a sample study of 210 individuals and to interpret the results obtained with respect to Ayurveda. Methodology: Elaborate questionnaire (objective questions) is used in 210 healthy menstruating women between the age group 14-45 years for the study from wide strata of society, the main criteria of assessment is physiological and psychological impact during different phases of Rutuchakra. Observation: Based on the Study, it is found that there is overarching prevalence of Vata Dosha during Rajahsrava Kala (menstrual phase) which lead to symptoms like low back pain, abdominal pain, muscle cramps, general malaise. During Rutukala (ovulation) there is overwhelming predominance of Kapha Dosha which displays Rutumati Lakshanas such as enthusiasm, high level of alertness, improvement in skin texture cutting across all age groups. Finally, it is found that there is predominance of Pitta Dosha during Rutu Vyateeta Kala (pre-menstrual) wherein the women experience heightened anxiety, confusion and facial skin eruptions etc. Conclusion: Women during Rutuchakra face tremendous difficulty in coping with the physiological and psychological changes. During Rajahsrava Kala women display profuse intensity of low back and abdominal pain due to inherent predominance of Vata Dosha, Rutukala period is the most productive (enthusiasm) phase due to inherent predominance of Kapha Dosha and during Rutuvyateeta Kala there is predominance of Pitta Dosha which resulted in anxiety, malaise, sleep disturbance etc.

Psoriasis is characterised by well-defined erythematous plaques with silvery scale it is chronic, relapsing inflammatory skin disease. It is one the most dreadful dermatological condition. In India an estimated 1 to 2% of the population is suffering from psoriasis. Due to resemblance of signs and symptoms Psoriasis can be correlated with EkaKushtha, which comes under Kshudra Kushtha described in Ayurveda. According to Acharya Charak, Ekakushtha is due to vitiation of Vata & Kapha. The clinical feature of Ekkushtha described by Acharya Kashyap represents remission, relapse and seasonal variation which are present in Psoriasis too. It is a chronic Tridoshaja disorder with pathological involvement of Rasa, Rakta, Twak, Lasika etc. Modern medical science treatment of psoriasis is not satisfactory and drugs used in treatment may have serious side effects. In present case study a 43 years old male patient with chronic relapsing Psoriasis (Ekakushtha) was treated through basic ayurvedic principles i.e. Nidana Parivarjana, Shodhana (Raktamokshana) and Shamana. After treatment patient showed marked improvement in his symptoms like itching and discolouration, with resolution of scaly plaques.

Coronavirus disease or COVID-19 is an infectious communicable disease. W.H.O. declared it Pandemic. The virus is newly discovered that causes COVID-19. The virus is mainly transmitted through droplets when a COVID-19 infected person coughs, sneezes, or exhales. These droplets are too heavy and settle down on floors or surfaces. One can be infected by touching the contaminated surfaces and then touching eye, nose, and mouth and by breathing in the air within close proximity of someone who has COVID-19, most people infected with COVID-19 have mild to moderate symptoms. In this present situation everyone is panic due to spread of the pandemic. Meanwhile asymptomatic covid-19 cases catch attention of everyone in the world. Many surveys and researches have shown that around 40% of the covid-19 cases are asymptomatic. W.H.O. also claimed that asymptomatic cases very rarely spread disease. The main reason behind asymptomatic cases can be the immunity, but still it is a question that without any specific immunity the can general immunity work? Ayurveda has answer of every query. In charak Samhita and various Ayurvedic texts our ancient Acharyas has mention the different body types according to Sara, Samhanan, Dosha Dushya and prakriti etc. These factors determine the disease intensity in different person.

Background: Burn wounds is the fourth most common type of injury worldwide. Approximately 90% of burns occur in low-to-middle income countries. Tinduka (Diospyros malabarica (Desr.) Kostel) has been classically as well as traditionally used for burn healing but scientific evidence remains unclear. Aim: The study was carried out to evaluate the wound healing activities of Tinduka twak kwatha in Wistar albino rats. Materials and methods: Partial thickness burn wound model were selected for the current study using 3 groups with 6 rats in each group. Group I was assigned as control, Group II was treated with Standard-Silver sulphadiazine, Group III was assigned as trial group which was treated with Tinduka twak kwatha. All drugs were applied topically at the burn site. The parameters observed were wound contraction, eschar fall day, complete cure day and histopathological observation. Results: The percentage of wound contraction in Tinduka twak kwatha group is statistically significant increase on 8th and 16th day, highly significant increase on 12th, 20th, 24thday and better on 28th day. Significant decrease in duration of complete cure day was found in kwatha group. Good regeneration was observed in histological study in kwatha group. Conclusion: Tinduka twak kwatha was effective in burn wound healing.

In Ayurveda, Prameha describes as Darun Gadah because of having so many complications (Subahuupdravada) and involving all three Mahamarmas. Inclusion of Prameha in Ashtamahagada shows the importance of this disease given by our Acharyas in ancient time. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a complication of diabetes, and Diabetic macular oedema (DME) is a further complication of diabetes. It can present in eyes at all levels of DR and lead to vision impairment and blindness. The risk of development of blindness in diabetes increases by 20-25 times as compared to the healthy population. The high prevalence rate of diabetic retinopathy (35.4%), proliferative diabetic retinopathy (7.2%), diabetic macular oedema (7.4%) and vision-threatening diabetic retinopathy(11.7%) in diabetes show the importance of this disease which led to the search and analysed the disease process (Samprapti) according to the Ayurvedic aspect based on common pathogenesis and different Timira Vyadhi mentioned in Ayurvedic text. Thus, the present study endeavours to establish a possible co-relation of Madhumeha/Pramehajanya timira with diabetic macular oedema and its possible pathogenesis from the Ayurvedic perspective. The presence of Kledata in the Rakta and Raktavaha srotas, the involvement of all three Doshas and Saptadhatu along with four internal Drishtipatalas of the eye are affected in Pramehajanya Timira in different stages of the disease. In Madhumeha, two types of pathology, Dhatukshayajanya and Avaranajanya have an essential role in the development of diabetic retinopathy due to prolonged uncontrolled hyperglycaemia. In Dhatukshaya, Dhatus are excreted from the body, which causes some pathological events and results in the development of DME. Four types of Srotodusti, i.e. Attipravritti, Sanga, Siragranthi, and Vimarga gamana, also plays a significant role in the development of DME.

A venture has been undertaken in present review to compile detailed information regarding characteristic features of Bee and their types, Origin and types of Honey Bee, its life cycle with special emphasis on Apis Cerana (commonest Bee found in India).

The unique methodology exhibits in Ayurveda is Panchakarma with specifically intended five procedures of internal purification of the body through the nearest potential route. Panchakarma has a full therapy role as a promotive, preventive, rehabilitative & curative procedure. Ayurvedic Panchakarma includes five major Ayurvedic procedures with many allied procedures which intend to cleanse the body along with suitable internal medication that can provide good enhancement in quality of life. Based on Ayurvedic principles and own experiences, the Ayurvedic scholars or practitioners in South India have modified certain techniques and found them quite effective. Afterwards, these procedures got promoted as Keraliya specialties of Panchakarma. Dharaakalpam, Pindasweda, Annalepanam, Kayasekam and Sirosekam are some of these practices. These procedures are specialized varieties of Snehana and Swedana which have more nutritive/nourishing effect than bio-cleansing or depleting effect.

Kshaya or degeneration is a gradually progressive deterioration and loss of function in the tissues. As vriddhavastha proceeds it leads to kshaya of all the dhatus. This aggravates the vata dosha. Sandhigata vata is a disorder which nearly affects all the aged people. On the basis of symptomolgy it resembles with that of osteoarthritis. Bala and Atibala are ayurvedic drugs which is vatapittahara in nature and commonly used in management of Vatavyadhi. Ksheerapaka of bala and atibala has an additional nutritive value along with curing the disease and hence the study is taken to see the efficacy in Sandhigatavata.

Dyslipidemia is an abnormal amount of lipids in the blood. Dyslipidemia may be manifested by an elevation of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides concentration and decrease in HDL cholesterol concentration in the blood i.e. presence of one or more abnormal serum lipid concentration. Dyslipidemia is becoming one of such lifestyle disorder leading to multitudes of diseases like cardiovascular diseases, strokes, metabolic syndrome and even hypertension. Dyslipidemia is a condition which shares a lot of similarity in pathogenesis and clinical presentation of Medoroga. Medoroga is a condition in which there is abnormal and unequal elevation and collection of Medodhatu in the body. In comprehensive Ayurveda literature Medoroga has been synonymously described as Sthoulya. Which has been explained under Ashta Nindita Purusha. The incidence and the magnitude of the problem are on constant rise due to changing lifestyle, environment and dietary habits etc. The treatment strategy is to implement lifestyle changes including diet and exercise, antiobesity and lipid lowering drugs. Gavedhuka Yavagu and Madhu is one such combination explained in Brihattrayee for Medoroga. In Charaka Samhita, Apamarga Tanduleeya Adhyaya explains that the combination of Gavedhuka and Madhu are Karshana (Emaciating) in nature. On the basis of above reference,a study is planned on anti-dyslipidemic activity of Gavedhuka Yavagu and Madhu in albino rats.

Women play a multidimensional task in fulfilling various roles in life. Health of the women not affects herself, but also influences the society as she is considered to be the direct reproducer of future generation. Menstruation marks the beginning of physiologic maturity in girls and has a significant role in her journey throughout. Painful menstruation affects the quality of women’s life to a great extent. Diet and lifestyle play a pivotal role in the causation of disease as well as treating the disease keeping in mind the present study was taken. OBJECTIVES: To identify the influence of food habits in Udavartini yonivyapad w.s.r to primary dysmenorrhea, to identify the influence of lifestyle in Udavartini yonivyapad w.s.r to primary dysmenorrhea, To study about Udavartini yonivyapad and Primary dysmenorrhea. METHODOLOGY: The study was retrospective case-control study. A questionnaire was framed based on the common food and lifestyle of people in and around Udupi district. These formulated questionnaires were given to subjects aged between 18- 35 years and fulfilling the inclusion criteria through screening and were segregated into two groups of 90 each. The data was collected and analysed using IBM SPSS software version 20. RESULTS: After analysing statistically, out of 50 questions in the food habits domain 22 foods had significant value and 2 foods had highly significant value. Among 20 questions in the lifestyle domain, 11 questions showed significant result and 3 questions showed highly significant results. Food items like packet foods, chats and lifestyle factors like stress, irritation, and mood swings showed highly significant result in causing dysmenorrhea. Most of these were found to increase the vata dosha and also hormonal imbalance. Comparatively lifestyle factors had more effect on dysmenorrhea than that of food habits.

Gout has reported an upsurge in recent decades influencing approximately two percent of the citizenry at some place in their lives. The present review deals with Gout which includes its general description, history, etymology, definition, purine metabolism, its aetiology and associated factors, clinical features, complications, diagnosis and investigations, differential diagnosis, prognosis and management. The disorder has been considered for the study keeping in mind the dire need of the hour to understand the disease so as to find some safe, sure and permanent cure effective for the same.

The srotas basically defined as the specialized channels designed to provide passage for nutrients of Saptadhatu (seven elements in body). The Mulasthanas (chief organ) are related directly with origin, maintenance and destruction of body nutrients which flow through particular Srotas. Mahasrotas is the term used as synonym of ‘Koshtha’ means Aampakwashaya (digestive organs), Sharirmadhya (trunk- thorax and abdomen) and Mahanimna (region below umbilicus). Mahasrotas extend from oral cavity to anus which can be correlated with gastrointestinal tract. Mahasrotas is actually hollow, long, soft tube like structure involving Annanalika, Aamashaya, Kshudantra and Pakwashaya leads to digestion, absorption, secretion and excretion processes, Improper food habits and stressful life style of present era leads to vitiation of GI tract. One should consume Aahar (diet) according to Aaharvidhividhan (rules of dietetic regimen) so that the ‘Agni’ (biofire) can show its results with giving proper aahar-rasa (nutritive part) and kitta (excretory part). One should keep in mind the constituents such as Panchamahabhutas and Tridosha in Annavaha srotas. This article reveals with the study of impact of dietetic regimen on Mahasrotas in view of prevention of diseases.

The present pharmacological investigation was undertaken to study the anti-pyretic activity of Jwarahara Kashaya Choorna & Ghana Vati in Albino rats against yeast induced pyrexia. Standard drug was Paracetamol (PCM). The antipyretic study was screened by using Brewer’s yeast induced pyrexia method. Thirty Albino rats of either sex were selected and equally divided into 5 groups. Room temperature was maintained at constant temperature of 24-25 0C for 24 hours before experimental study. Before inducing pyrexia, initial rectal temperature was recorded individually. Pyrexia was induced by subcutaneous injection of 1ml/100 mg body wt. of 20% Brewer’s yeast suspension in 0.9% normal saline. The data generated during study shows that Jwarahara Kashaya Choorna & Ghana Vati ishaving significant anti-pyretic activity

Sushruta has described the anatomical classification of Marma which makes it a little easier to explore them. This will lead to a proper understanding, for better learning and practice of Marma. However, few know about an entirely unexpected problem that is currently bedevilling Asia’s third largest economy - a considerable decline in its fertility rate. When the fertility rate dips this number, the population is expected to decline. Modern treatment modalities cannot be used continuously due to their side effects.Thus this study was done to evaluate the effect of hydroalcoholic extract and ksheerpaka of Withania somnifera on estrous cycle in female wistar albino rats were orally administered with extract of Withania somnifera 2000 mg/kg body weight /day for 21 days .Results of the present study showed a significance increase in the weight of the uterus and in weight of the ovary was observed in treated group .Further estrous cycle length was observed to be regular and increased .In conclusion , this study suggests that the hydroalcoholic extract of roots of withania somnifera possess ovulatory activity after treating with norethisterone acetate..

A case of 19 year old male patient with complaints of fearfulness, hesitation to talk, restlessness and disturbed thoughts since 3 years attended OPD for Ayurveda line of treatment. Detailed history and examination was done diagnosed as a case of Chittodwega (Generalized anxiety disorder). Treatment was planned with shodhana, bahiparimarjana, shamana and stavavajaya chikitsa. Patient got a remarkable relief in signs and symptoms.

The common presentation is within the sort of sudden severe attacks of burning pain (Daha), redness and tenderness in joints (Toda) ,Swelling in joints (SandhiShotha) , Moderate discoloration of skin (Vaivarnya) , withdrawal of the affected part (Sparshaasahatva) , often the large toe is involved. With the time joints, tendons and other tissues may get detrimental .The symptoms are first manifested in small joints of the feet and afterward involve other joints. Vatarakat or Aadya Vata may be a classical description of Gout in Ayurveda. The primary goal of treatment is to alleviate the pain and inflammation of an acute attack. Sheetapitta is one of the commonest skin ailments equated with Urticaria in modern science. Urticaria affects up to 20% of the population at some point in their lives. It results from an immediate hypersensitivity reaction, appears as edema or wheals over body, itching, and burning sensation. In modern aspects of medicine, antihistamines are mainly used along with steroids which have so many side effects and Urticaria is mostly resistant to this treatment. This specifies the necessity of research concerning alternative management of urticaria (Sheetapitta).In this context, Amrutadi Kwatha is a very unique herbal combination from Chakradatta mentioned in the treatment of Skin diseases like Visarp, kushtha and Sheetapitta .A simple randomized clinical trial carried in 30 Patients having symptoms of Sheetapitta with Amrutadi kwath. Clinical facts obtained from the study were analyzed with appropriate statistical methods. The drug was found to be effective clinically in pacifying symptoms of Sheetapitta. The present study provides strong shreds of evidence that prove effective management of Sheetpitta with Amrutadi kwath.

Introduction- This is a case report of 21 year old female who complained of patchy hair loss in scalp since 6 months. The subject was not a known case of Diabetes mellitus or hypertension or any other systemic disease. On the basis of symptoms and detailed clinical examination she was diagnosed as having Alopecia areata, based on Doshadushya and symptoms it was compared with Indrapulta and treated, the results are observed and documented. Materials and methods- The subject who approached Shalakya Tantra OPD of Government Ayurveda medical college, Bangalore with symptoms of patchy hair loss in scalp since 6 months was systemically reviewed and raktashodhaka, tridoshashamaka and rasayana line of treatment is adopted. Results- The subject showed marked improvement as depicted in the photographs taken at different levels of treatment. Discussion- Indralupta is a kshudraroga affecting scalp and involving pitta, vata dusti, later kapha and rakta blocking the romakupa. Acharyas have contributed to the cosmetology by giving atmost importance in treating such disease condition by holistic approach and even local treatment modalities. An attempt is made to bring about satisfactory results by adopting such measures in this case study

These requirements can be fulfilled by Ayurveda as it describes about many varieties of Ahara along with different palatable forms. Aim: To explore the concept of Ayurvedic nutraceuticals w.s.r. to Ahara and Ahara Kalpana. Materials and Methods: Classical texts along with available commentaries, other literature related to the subject, research papers, and material available on websites have been referred and critically analyzed. Discussion: Understanding of nutrition according to Ayurveda is different from the modern nutraceutical concept. The basic focus of the modern concept of nutrition is on the physical attributes of food i.e. the quantity of the nutrients (mainly calorie basis) while Ayurveda not only focuses on quantity, but also emphasizes on other aspects like age, appetite, digestive power, contents of diet, season etc. Combination of these principles is more useful to provide optimum benefit of any diet substance to one self as it is the personalized protocol. Conclusion: Implementation of concept of Ahara and Ahara Kalpana for maintenance of health and management of diseases can provide a better option for nutraceuticals science in upcoming future in terms of palatability, cost effectiveness and easy option for prevent many deficiencies, malnutrition and life style disorders.

Childhood period is the state of structural, physiological and psychological immaturity of the the body. It is also the period of limited tolerance for exercise and the drug administration. Delicate nature of the child, immature biochemical status of the child creates further challenge, while treating the child in pediatric practice. Meanwhile administration of the medicine and making the medicine palatable for children is a big issue. Reluctant children create panic, confusion and anxiety in parents as their drug intake is not satisfactory. Kashyapa Samhita dealt the subject of clinical pediatrics practice and mentioned certain methods of drug administration in newborn, infants and the older children. We also find such references in Charaka Samhita and Laghu Trayis. Some of the Bhaishajja Kalpana like Mantha, Avaleha, Arka, Paneeya, Panaka, Ksheera paka, etc can be modified to some extent and can be used as effective method of drug administration. As Kashyapa says Ahara as Maha Bhaishajja, food is needed to be modified as medicine for easy, effective, comfortable administration, load of medications should be reduced by making food with medicinal valve and palatable. It has been advised in classical Ayurvedic books that medicine should be prepared by Madhura, Kashyaya Rasa and it should have Mridu nature and prepared with milk base.

According to modern science and recent advances, food poisoning consist of all illness which results from ingestion of food. Food-borne illnesses are usually contagious and lethal in nature, caused by Viruses, Bacteria, Parasites, Fungi, and chemical substances causes severe medical emergencies like meningitis. Chemical contamination can cause acute poisoning and lifelong diseases, like cancer. Pesticide residue in food, Botulism, and food adulteration are another significant food, related medical emergencies. Food can play a major role in coronavirus ongoing global pandemic.

Vicharchika which is one of the common skin disease, is most prevalent among masses whether rural or urban.A critical peep with regard to this into the various Ayurvedic classics reveals that, the various Kustha rogas were known to ancients of remote antiquity. It comes under Kshudra Kustha in Ayurveda.Vicharchika is characterized by blackish brown eruptions associated with itching sensation and excessive exudation described by Acharya Charak in Chikitsa Sthan& striae appear all over the body which are dry, painful along with itching described by Acharya Sushruta in Nidan sthan under the heading of Maha Kustha. In classical text of Ayurveda, Acharyas emphasize the Shodhana therapy as the line of treatment at various places. It can be co-related with Eczema as per modern medicine.It is not a contagious disease but the condition can impact considerably on the quality of life of the affected individuals. There is no satisfactory treatment found in modern medicine, so attempt was done to treat it with NityaVirechan with Trivrit avaleha & Edagajadi lepa on 20 patients for 4 weeks. On the assessment, it is observed that the effect of Nitya Virechan and Edagajadi lepa are highly significant.

Vartma Sharkara is a Sannipataja Vartmagata Roga which is correlated with conjunctival concretions. These are a type of degenerative changes occurring in conjunctiva which can cause ocular discomfort and even corneal abrasions. Modern treatment includes surgical removal which often results in conjunctival hyperaemia and injuries with chances of recurrence. Although concretions are very commonly seen in clinical practice but till date no modality has been successful in treating them satisfactorily, hence it is imperative to find an effective, economic and safe solution for the management of concretions through Ayurvedic Upkramas and Aushadhi Yogas. The present study was designed incorporating Pratisarana Karma with Samudraphena Churna along with Kaishore Guggulu and Panchkola Churna as Aushadhi, the combination of a local para surgical procedure along with oral medications proved effective in removal of concretions with no adverse effects and no recurrence.

Shoola and karmahani are the symptoms which make the patient to compromise his/ her physical, psychological, social efficiencies. Among them, Gridhrasi is most common condition where the involvement of vata and/or vata kapha is evident by the symptoms like shoola, stambha, toda, karmahanai, gaurava, arochaka. The line of management adopted should be vata/ vatakaphahara, and able to relieve the acute, severe symptoms as early as possible. Text highlights the use of basti, snehana and swedana in the management of gridhrasi. Based on the reference of vataghna basti, erandamula kashaya niruha basti was selected which has vata/vatakaphahara and rasayana effect. As there is association of shoola, stambha, gaurava, swedana as Erandamula kashaya nadi sweda has been selected. Present study was a single blind clinical study with pre and post test design wherein 20 patients were treated with 6 prasruta erandamula niruha basti prepared in vataghna basti dosage and administered in a yoga basti course. Along with that, erandamula kashaya nadi sweda was given for 30 min daily for 8 days. Patients were assessed before and after the treatment and after 16 days of follow up based on the standard parameters. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used for analysis of data. The study showed statistically significant improvement in all the parameters selected for the study. Hence, Erandamula Niruha basti with Erandamula kashaya Nadi sweda can be effectively advised in the management of gridhrasi..

Wound healing is a natural process but factors like foreign body, vascular insufficiency, contamination of wound, immune compromised state like Diabetes mellitus affects the normal physiological process of healing. Diabetic ulcer is one type of DustaVrana(non-healing ulcer)which has continuously flowing putrefied pus along with blood, abnormal colour, intense pain, foul smell, takes long time to heal. DustaVrana needs Ropana (wound healing) followed by Shodhana (debridment) Chikitsa. Acharya Susrut broadly described the Shashtiupakrama (Sixty procedure) for the management of Vrana.Wound in lower extremities require proper care before it convert into DustaVrana.

Certain neonatal problems which are commonly encountered during in day to day clinical practice are mostly physiological, due to immaturity of organ /system in developing newborn and require minimum treatment. Mean while anxiety of parents is quite obvious and exact knowledge of same by physician helps to console parents. Common neonatal problems may be due to physiological immaturity, adjustment problems, and failure to establish feeding, faulty methods of feeding, transplacental hormones of mother and certain exaggerated reflexes and at times due to anxiety by parents, over consciousness also. However many of the complaints gets resolved spontaneously with increasing age without causing much disturbances in the growth pattern of the child. However, keeping an eye on pathological part of such problems is essential as it may be hazardous to baby at times. Key points like, isolation, hygiene, feeding, aseptic measure, temperature maintenance are few of the common precautions to be taken. Mother will be enquired daily about baby as she is the keen observer of the baby round the clock, and her opinion plays a vital role in understanding any deviation from normalcy. Meanwhile such common neonatal problems can be effectively managed by certain simple Ayurvedic medicines. Correction should be done in the life style of the feeding mother where ever required. Certain modifications should be done in daily routine care of the newborn and misconceptions and myths regarding the baby care in the family members should be removed.

Ayurveda is the oldest system of healing and provide service to mankind in which body physiology is too much emphasized to understanding the etiology and pathogenesis of a disease, so that the best treatment can be searched out in front of humanity. In modern life style, excessive intake of fast foods, etc. and addictions of chewing betel nut, tobacco, smoking, etc. which are characterized as apthyakar in Ayurveda disturb the normal physiology of the body and vitiate Rakta dhatu. In Sutrasthana Acharya Charka has mentioned various dushit Raktaja Rog. From which two of them are Mukhadushika (Acne vulgaris) and Mukhapaka (Stomatitis). According to Sushruta, in Mukhadushika, the Shalmali Kantak like eruption on the face which causes swelling, reddishness and burning sensation. In Ayurveda vitiation of Vata, Kapha and Rakta are etiological factor that give rise to Mukhadushika. Mukhpaka is one of the common oral disease described by ulceration in oral cavity, redness, burning sensation, salvation and pain. That is why there is a need of such treatment that contains Vata kapha shamaka and Raktashodhaka property. Raktapachaka Yoga is a specific classification described in Charaka Samhita. It contains five medicinal herbs that are mainly recommended in Satat jwara. The contents of Raktapachaka Yoga are: Sariva, Patol, Katuka, Patha and Mustak. The different properties of drugs of Raktapachaka Yoga help in breaking the chain of etiology of Mukhadushika and Mukhapaka. Therefore, an attempt is made to study Rasapanchaka, Paanchabhoutik constitution and phytochemical composition of herbs included in Raktapachaka Yoga which are mentioned in Ayurveda Classics for treatment of these disease.

Present study aimed to prepare People’s Biodiversity Registers of three villages falling in Dasuya block of district Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India. In biodiversity registers, both wild as well as domesticated biodiversity and their associated traditional knowledge were documented using people participatory approach along with questionnaire methods. In this present study, crops (42), fruit plants (13), ornamental species (22), timber plants (15), medicinal plants (56), aquatic plants (9), weed (23) and wild (98) plant species were recorded. Crop plants included cereal crops (3), oil crops (3), sugar yielding crop (1), pulses (6), vegetables (14), spices (6) and fodder plants (9). During biodiversity assessment, it was observed that large numbers of medicinal plants were grown in these villages. Village residents have sound information about the plants based traditional healthcare practices and they always preferred local medicinal plants for minor human as well as animal ailments. Mostly the tree species (21) were used in traditional remedies followed by herbs (15), shrubs (15) and only 5 species of climbers. In present study, it was also observed that there is an increasing trend of biodiversity in this area due to the joint action of local people, forest department and Punjab Biodiversity Board.

It is a traditional medicine which is used in various women related problems like, menorrhagia, leucorrhoea, bleeding haemorrhoids, bleeding from uterus. Stem bark of Ashoka tree is use d as uterine sedative, uterine tonic. Along with the stem bark, all the part of the plant shows medicinal properties. It is used as uterotonic, spasmogenic, anti-tumour, oxytocic, anti-bacterial, anti-progestational, anti-implantation, antiestrogenic activity. The plant mainly has phytochemicals such as glycoside, flavonoids, tannins, esters, primary alcohols, alkanes, and saponins. This review contains detail botanical description, phytochemical constituents, pharmacological studies and medicinal uses of Ashoka plant.

References of Hinguleshwara rasa was collected from various available classical texts. Dissertation and article were also reviewed. In all the classical texts, Hinguleshwara rasa consist of three ingredients, in which hingula is a common ingredients in all the classical references. Hinguleshwara rasa of Rasa Tarangini references was commonly chosen for research and dissertation works because of less, safe, effective ingredients, indicated in vataja jwara and amavata.

They do not attain maximum limit of their age. Ayurveda provides various rasayana therapies for healthy and long life. Rasayana therapies comprises of many compound formulations and single dravyas. Onion (sanskrita name–palandu) is a rasayana dravya mentioned by Acharya Vagbhatta, belongs to family “Liliaceae” and has latin name “Allium Cepa”. It balances vata dosha, aggravates kapha dosha and does not affect pitta dosha. Its (palandu) properties are madhura and katu rasa, guru and tikhsna guna, mild ushna virya and madhura vipaka. It’s (palandu) properties are almost similar to garlic. It acts as an anti inflammatory and reduces pain. It increases digestive power, improves body strength and immunity, boosts quality and quantity of sperm and volume of semen. It nourishes seven dhatus and enhances intelligence and memory power. It is a very common adjuvant used in preparation of food articles in India. Its regular use provides immunity to the body and if used as a medicine, cures many diseases too. Research studies also prove it to be a source of essential nutrients and antioxidants.

Background- Lumbar Spondylosis is a degenerative condition which affects the lower spine. The Spine is compromised by a narrowing of the space between the vertebrae associated with growth of bone spurs (osteophytes). It is characterized by progressive loss of function and painful lumbar joint movements. Low back pain affects approximately 60–85% of adults during some point in their lives and it is responsible for about 10% of all the back pain condition. Objective-The present case report was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of Agnikarma and DIP diet in lumbar spondylosis pain by balancing local Vata and Kapha Dosha without any untoward effects within time constrain (30 days). Case presentation- A 51-yearold female, patient visited Shalya OPD with complaints of severe pain, stiffness and difficulty in forward and backward bending movement in lumbar spine for 2 years. She was diagnosed as a case of lumbar spondylosis. The patient was treated with Agnikarma and DIP diet. ResultThe patient showed significant (p<0.001) improvement in lower back pain and thyroid stimulating hormone from 4.88 uIUmL to 1.94 uIUmL within time constrain (3 month). A significant response in various symptoms such as Pain, stiffness, forward and backward movement of lumbar spine was found. Conclusion-This case report highlights the potential of Ayurvedic management in lumbar spondylosis and provides the better pathway for this disease.

Ayurveda is the oldest existing medical science whose principles of treatment still prove effective even in today’s changing era. The lifestyle now-a-days has become very hectic and has become a major reason for the growth of prevalence of autoimmune disorder. In this paper, a single case study has been discussed as to how there were changes in the samprapthi and how ayurvedic principles held true in the samprapthi vighatana. This patient was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and was subjected to virechana karma. The efficacy of the treatment before and after has been discussed in the paper and an attempt has been made to identify, a possible correlation between psoriatic arthritis and vatarakta for proper management in the future times.

Upanaha, poultice is a kind of topical application. It helps in reducing vatadosha, sheeta (coldness), shola (pain), sthambha (stiffness), gourava (heaviness). Pain medicine is one of the emerging areas of research and development. Upanaha is proved effective in the management of pain and other inflammatory conditions mainly of Locomotor System. An attempt has been made to collect references about upanaha from the classics of Ayurveda and reviewed systematically.

Cancer is a dreadful condition and is one among the leading cause of death worldwide. The conventional methods of treatment include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy according to the condition which is more expensive and with complications. Even though modern medicine made remarkable treatment protocol in the early stages of the cancer, but failed to improve the quality of life and increasing the life span of the 4th stage cancer patients. A diagnosed case of 4th stage of Lung cancer approached to our hospital and was treated with appropriate treatment modalities based on the principles of Ayurveda such as periodical purification therapy, symptomatic and anti-cancerous treatment along with rejuvenation therapy showed promising result in extending the life span to the expected median survival rate with improvement in the quality of life.

It also helps an individual to be in an equilibrium state of body, mind and spiritual elements. Also the role of Ayurveda in paediatrics, women’s health and in geriatrics is described. There is need of integration of Ayurveda and Allopath at Primary Health Care level is also strongly advocated.

Incidence rate of Dadru gradually increasing day to day because of improper ahara-vihajra.The knowledge of nidana is helpful for proper diagnosis, prevention of disease and treatment also. The main objective of the study is to evaluate and analyze the etiological factors of Dadru Roga, for this purpose, an observational study was done on 40 patients of Dadru, based on demographic data, Aharaja,Viharaja nidana.

Madhumeha is caused due to Apathyaahara and viharasevana. While enumerating the chikitsa for Madhumeha all scholars have focused on the management of Madhumeha with a greater importance on Pathya. Ahara is said to be Mahabhaisajya, where one is not able to sustain life without diet even of endowed with medicine that is why the diet is said to be the great medicament by physician. In Ayurveda, pool of information is available in scattered form. In present day scenario, there is need to collect the scattered matter and it is to be reproduced with a scientific data base in front of the modern world.

Sciatica is considered as Gridhrasi in Ayurveda which is characterized by pain or discomfort associated with sciatic nerve. This disease very badly affects the quality of life of patient. Modern medicine has no permanent treatment for sciatica. Aim and Objectives: The aim of this study was to explore the Ayurvedic management including Raktamokshana, Shodhana, Shamana and Rasayana Chikitsa in Gridhrasi. Materials and Methods: It is a single case study. A 49‑year‑old female patient, came with complaint of difficulty in walking , severe pain in lower back region radiating towards right lower limb, numbness in right foot for past one and half year, stretching pain in left lower limb for past 3months, approached to Ayurvedic hospital where she was treated with Raktmokshana, Shodhana (Yoga basti) ,Shaman and Rasayana Chikitsa. The treatment was continued for 3 months. Results: Assessment was carried out during 2 months and satisfactory outcome came and overall quality of life of patient was significantly improved. Conclusion: The above mentioned therapy gives symptomatic relief in patients of Gridhrasi.

Indian alchemy traditionally known as Rasshastra (science deal with processing of metals and minerals) is the strength of ancient Ayurveda treatment. Numerous alchemical texts were written in different era on Indian Alchemy. These books confer evidences that sole invention of this science come about in Buddhist period. Acharya Nagarjuna known as “Father of Iatrochemistry” was the first who discovered the metallurgy and the art of gold preparation from Mercury. As the whole world is looking forward to the remedies which heals and rejuvenate the body, Rasashastra medicine which is having curative and preventive aspect gives assurance of longer life and stability for achieving higher goals in the life. Nagarjuna was the great Buddhist philosopher and the most revered person after Gautam Buddha in Buddhism. He performed immense activities for the benefit of the Doctrine and human beings. He wrote many standard treatises on Indian alchemy viz. Kakshaputatantra, Rasaratnakara and Arogyamanjari etc. Vrinda and Chakrapani Datta are the other notable treatises of this period. Vrindmadhava is one who not only charted diagnostic techniques of diseases but also mentioned therapeutic uses of Rasushadhies. Use of Lohadhatu and Mandoor (Iron compounds and oxides) with plant based medicines are important inputs of Vrinda while on other hand use of Rasparpati in Grahani vyadhi(GIT disorders) was first discovered by Chakradutta. Use of Loha rasayana is also seen frequently in books by Chakradutta. So it can be concluded that Nagarjuna and his contemporaries have lifted this science of alchemy to the topmost position.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Atopic dermatitis is the most common chronic relapsing skin disease seen in children. It effects 10- 30% of children worldwide and frequently occurs in families with other atopic disease such as asthma, allergic rhinitis and food allergy. Objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of Kustaharakashaya tablet and Durvadya tail and comparing Kustaharakashaya Tablet and Durvadyataila with Hydroxyzine HCl with Clobetasol propionate. METHODOLOGY: 40 patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria of atopic dermatitis were randomly selected and divided into two groups each group contains 20 patients, namely Group A-Kustaharakashaya tablet and Durvadyatail, Group B -Hydroxyzine HCl syrup and Clobetasol propionate ointment. SOURCE OF THE DATA: Patients were randomly selected from outdoor patients of SJG AMC& Hospital, Koppal. Clinical signs and symptoms were given suitable scores according to their severity and were assessed based on pre and post test data gathered through predesigned clinical research proforma. The results having ‘p’ value <0.05 were considered to be statistically significant in this study. RESULTS: Complete or Marked relief was not observed in any of the groups. Moderate response, 60% was noticed in Group A, where as in 57% was seen in Group B. CONCLUSION: Based on observation and results concluded as trial drug i.e. Kustaharakashaya Tablet with DurvadyaTailahas a positive role in the management of Atopic Dermatitis in Children.

Agadatantra is one among the Astanga Ayurveda which deals with the vishachikitsa (Clinical toxicology). The visha (Poisoning) is dire condition which needs a fast anticipating action, if not leads to the irreversible changes. Visha (Poison) is classified into sthavara (stable-plant origin) and jangama (mobile-animal origin) visha. Sthavara visha is further classified into mahavisha (Potent poison) and upavisha (Subpotent poison). Vatsanabha is one among the potent mahavisha, currently known to mankind, used in the plenty of formulations. If accidently consumed or used in inappropriate methods, will cause diverse signs and symptoms leading to the life threatening conditions. Literatures of Ayurveda explain many methods of shodhana for vatsanabha (purification methods) which can be adopted following its judicial use. The essential chikitsa (therapeutic management) and pratyoushadha (counter medicine/antidotes) when poisoned by vatsanabha is also well explained. The current paper reports the exploratory review of the drug, its purification methods and antidotes thus screening the poisonous as well as its potential effects.

In Ayurveda, twak vikara (skin disease) is caused due to imbalance of tridosha, but pitta dosha is involved in prime form. Pitta and rakta dhatu vridhhi kshaya is compliment to each other by Ashraya-ashrayi bhava. Lakshana of kushtha depends upon Dosha-dushya sammurchhana. Skin is one of the most defining aspects of our appearance and first barrier of protective mechanism. Skin diseases have been dealt under the Kushtha and kshudra roga and all types of Kushtha have been considered as Raktavaha srotodushtijanya vikara and Tridoshaja origin. Vicharchika is described under Kshudrakushtha in samhita texts. Lakshanas are Kandu, Pidika, Shyava, Bahustrava in Charaka. Lakshanas are Rajyo, Atikandu, Ruja,Rukshata in Sushruta. Vicharchika is mentioned in dominancy of different dosha by various acharyas. Kapha & Pitta, Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Swedavaha srotasa are key pathological factors involved in the Samprapti of Vicharchika. A similar clinical presentation of Vicharchika in modern dermatology is seen in Eczema, which is defined as a non-contageous inflammation of the skin when it has not involved any infection. In the 21st century, urbanization, science and technology had made our life better, fast and sedentary. Therefore, neither do we have time to think and act for healthy life nor to follow a proper Dinacharya and Ritucharya, this affects mansika bhava. Now a days, skin diseases are becoming a major hazard for mental health more than physical harm as it distributes the cosmetic harmony. Outside food is also a major cause of dietary incompatibility (Viruddha Ahara) which is a major cause of Vicharchika (eczema). According to management of Vicharchika the Ahara-Vihara which are having Kapha-pittashamaka and Laghu property are used for its treatment. In this article, an attempt has been made to study the Etiopathogenesis of Vicharchika (Eczema) and role of life style management and pathyapathya on this disease.

Artavakshaya is described in Sushruta Sutra Sthana during description of “Dosha Dhatu Mala Kshaya Vriddhi” and it is defined as Alpartava both in amount and duration with associated symptom of ‘Yathochitakala Adarshnam’ and ‘Yonivedana’. Aartavakshaya symptoms resemble with Hypomenorrhoea and Oligomenorrhoea based on their signs and symptoms described in the modern medical science. But in Artavakshaya, Acharya Sushruta mentioned Yoni Vedana which may resembles to dysmenorrhoea in modern text. Artavakahaya is the most prevalent associated clinical condition met in day to day gynecological practice especially in adolescent and young age group women. Present study was designed to establish an Ayurvedic management of Oligomenorrhoea & Hypomenorrhoea. The treatment given was JY-P Ghan Vati (Anubhoot Yoga) with Krishna Til Kwath and Shatpushpa (Anethum sowa)Churna after Koshtha-Shuddhi. Aims & Objectives: -To study the efficacy of JY-P Ghan Vati with Krishna Til Kwath the management of Artavakshaya. To study the efficacy of Shatpushpa (Anethum sowa)Churna in the management of Artavakshaya & to compare effect of both drugs in the management of Artavakshaya. To observe adverse effects of drugs according to complains of patients if any. Material & Methods:-60 clinically diagnosed patients of Artavakshaya (Oligomenorrhoea and Hypomenorrhoea) were randomly selected from OPD/IPD Dept. of Prasuti Tantra & Stree Roga, Rishikul Campus Haridwar and were divided into three groups of 20 patients each. In Group-A JY-P Ghan Vati with Krishna Til Kwath, In Group-B Shatpushpa Churna and in Group-C JY-P Ghan Vati with Krishna Til Kwath and Shatpushpa Churna were given for three consecutive menstrual cycles. Results: - All the three groups shown statistically significant results in treatment of Artavakshaya but on inter comparison of groups, Group-C (JY-P Ghan Vati with Krishna Til Kwath+ Shatapushpa Churna) showed better results than Group-B and Group-A in all subjective parameters, on the basis of percentage relief.

In December 2019, China had reported a new respiratory tract infection which occurred due to infection caused by coronavirus and the diseased was later named as COVID19. All modern physicians along with all healthcare faculties worldwide got engaged in the search of effective medicine against Covid19. In India under preventive and prophylactic treatment, Ministry of AYUSH suggested a combination of four traditional medicine named Tulasi (Ocimum sanctum L.), Twaka/Dalchini (Cinnamom umzeylanicum BL.), Shunthi/Sontha (Zingiber officinalisRosc.) and Maricha/ Kali Mirch (Piper nigrum L.) named as AyushKwatha which is said to be used in the form of decoction. Each herb was used as a traditional medicine as single drug and in different formulations. The current article tries to explain the therapeutic value of these four Ayurveda herbs as a health promoter and immunity booster. Also, it gives strength to the respiratory system. AyushKwath may play a key role in prevention of diseases as well as in management of autoimmune diseases..

Vamana karma is one among the panchakarma therapy considered as the best therapy for the elimination of vitiated kapha and kapha samsrista dosha. Psoriasis is a long standing auto immune disease characterized by patchy skin lesions which is typically red in colour associated with itching and scaling. Psoriasis with its signs and symptoms has similarities with kapha pradhana kustha. In this present clinical study, Kutajaphaladi yoga was used to assess the efficacy of vamana karma in Psoriasis. Assessment of psoriasis was done with ‘psoriasis area severity index’ (PASI), Auzpitz sign & Candle grease sign. This study showed statistically significant result with reduction in PASI score (P < 0.000). The study concluded that Kutajaphaladi yoga was effective in the management of psoriasis. More researches on comparison are needed to be conducted with other emetic drugs of higher safety and efficacy.

The ancient ayurvedic samhitas have explained different pathya kalpanas under the kritanna varga like manda, peya, vilepi, yavagu, yusha, etc. These are important in the field of prevention of health where different dravyas are used for maintaining and sustaining the living body. In therapeutics also many pathya kalpanas are described as a vehicle for shodhana and shamana formulations. But still these therapeutic measures remain neglected because of reluctant approach towards unfamiliar methodology of these pathya kalpanas. This article aims to review the detail concept of pathya kalpana in order to explore the scientific approach towards ancient dietary regimen to ensure the healthy life.

In present study raw drugs were authenticated with Ayurvedic Pharmacopeia of India parameters. Standard operating procedure (SOP) for Brahmyadi Ghrita was developed in three different batches by maintaining drug proportion and temperature. The three batches were analysed and values are compared to get the mean scores & standard values were established

A 30 year old female patient came to Ayurveda chikitsalay and Panchkarm Centre, Upleta with compliant of bloody diarrhoea, sticky fecal with foul smell, abdominal pain , nausea and burning in chest since 2 years. She was treated with ayurvedic treatments as an outdoor patient for six month period. Āyurvedic preparations like grahankapatras, mustadiyog, and Tablet: Ayopan were given. After 6 months of treatment patient was improving through Āyurvedic management without need of hospitalization and immunosuppressive medicine like Mesalamine1.2gm. All of her complaints like bleeding per ano, sticky fecal with foul smell, abdominal pain, nausea and burning in chest were cured. After six month of ayurvedic treatment Colonoileoscopy report was totally normal.

Anjana is a medicinal preparation which is applied on the lower palpebral conjunctiva. Its active principles may be transferred to the interior of the eye according to their hydrophilic and lipophilic qualities mainly through the conjunctiva and cornea by paracellular and transcellular pathways. Haridradi Anjana is Ayurvedic topical formulation mentioned in Yog Ratnakar1 . The formulation is helpful in curing redness, burning sensation, watering, itching, photophobia, ropy discharge2 in the eye. Placenta is said to be retained when it is not expelled out after 30 minute of the birth of baby. It is the most common complication of third stage of labour with significant cause of maternal mortality and morbidity throughout the developing world. It complicates 2% of all deliveries and has a case mortality rate of nearly 10% in rural areas. In Ayurveda Placenta is termed as Apara and all the Acharyas have given importance to apara patana by advising to check for complete expulsion of Apara followed by delivery of the fetus and also says that without expulsion of placenta, the women can’t be termed as Sutika. When Apara is not expelled out after birth of the fetus it is termed as apara sanga. Our acharyas have given various modalities of treatment for removal of apara, so in the present paper various references related to apara sanga are collected from all the classical texts and an attempt is made to understand scientific approach of apara sanga and its management in relation to retained placenta.

Vatarakta is a disease that has evoked controversies in the current clinical practice as to which of the conditions or diseases are linked to the term under discussion. Ayurveda Samhita has classifications of vatarakta based on the dosha pradhanyata as well as on the basis of the progression of the disease. But trying to narrow down the disease vatarakta to a specific disease in modern science is impossible. Auto immune disorders such as UCTD can be considered as a variation of vatarakta. One such disease is undifferentiated connective tissue disorder (UCTD). Variations in lifestyle factors predominates in the causative factor of vatarakta. It includes the diet which is rich in dhanya, mamsa, madya and a sedentary life style that is prevalent in the society. These contribute just not to an increase in body mass index and to the development of the metabolic syndrome, but to the development of diseases like vatarakta also. Treatment strategies includes the 2 basic types of chikitsa i.e shamana and shodhana. Many effective formulations that comes under the shamana chikitsa can be used for managing vatarakta or undifferentiated connective tissue disorder.

In current case study, A sixty years aged male diagnosed as a case of Psoriasis (Ekakushtha) was treated on Ayurvedic Principles of Kushthachikitsa viz. Dipan, Pachana, Sneha-pana and Virechana karma and patient showed marked symptomatic improvement with the treatment.

Authors: A Clinical Study on Assessment of Psychological Stress and Sleeping Quality in Patients of Pandu Roga Vis-A -Vis Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA)

Introduction – Iron deficiency is very common cause of anemia in the world and is more dominant in women than men. Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is considered as a nutritional deficiency disorder. Ayurveda has also given description about a similar disease Pandu Roga (a disease entity with clinical picture resembling anemia) in Charak Samhita, Pandu Roga Adhyaya wherein the disease has been described to be caused also due mental or psychological stress. Sleep is reported to be affected negatively by psychological stress. Further, a research paper on sleep quality in IDA patients, also reported for bad sleep quality in them as compared to controls. Based on the above concept of Ayurveda and contemporary medical science, the following paper aims to assess the psychological stress status and sleeping quality in the patients of IDA (comes under the umbrella of Pandu Roga) as compared to healthy controls. Material and Methods - 30 newly diagnosed cases of IDA (Pandu Roga) from the OPD and IPD of the institution were assessed for stress by Perceived stress scale (PSS) and sleeping quality by Pittsburg sleeping quality assessment index (PSQI) and compared to 30 healthy controls to observe for any relationship. The data was analysed statistically using IBM SPSS version 16.0 (Illnosis,USA.) and GraphPad Prism 5 (GraphPad Software Inc, CA, USA). Statistical significance was considered among the groups (p<0.05). Observation & Discussion - It was found that 56% of patients and 30.5% controls reported a bad sleep quality. The total Pittsburgh sleep quality index score was 6.56±0.32 in patients and 6.23±0.23 in controls as revealed by PSQI. Assessment of stress status by PSS revealed severe PSS with value 24-30 found in 6 cases as compared to 3 controls and moderate PSS of 14-23 was found in 20 cases as compared to 19 controls. The total Mean perceived stress score in cases was observed 20.10±0.60 and 19.20±0.94 in controls. No statistically significant correlation was observed between PSS and Hb values in controls and PSS and sleeping quality in both cases and controls. Conclusion – The study reveals some scientific evidence to the etiopathological part of psychological factors Chinta (stress), Shoka (grief), Krodha (anger or frustation) and Bhaya (fear) in the causation of Pandu Roga (IDA). There seems to be cause and effect relationship between stress and IDA. Sleeping quality was found deteriorated in the cases as compared to controls. However, the study revealed no association between stress and sleep quality

The aim of this research is to clarify the features of different Doshika Arsha Mamsa Ankura described in Sushruta Samhita and then evaluate that either these features are present in the Hemorrhoidal pile mass or not. Clarifying the features of Mamsa Ankura and also its relation with the hemorrhoid pile mass is the main purpose of this research.

Introduction: Infertility is defined as a failure to conceive within one or more years of regular unprotected coitus. According to FIGO, ovarian factor contributes to 30-40% in causes of the female infertility. In the Ayurveda classics, description of Vandhyatva is available including Nidana, Samprapti, Lakshana, Bhedaand Chikitsa. Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of Rasayana Basti in the management of female Infertility w.s.r to anovulatory factor. Materials and Methods: Total 17 female patients of infertility having an ovulatory factor, being diagnosed by TVS for two consecutive cycles were included in this study. Rasayana Basti was given for 16 days for two cycles through rectal route in dose of 426 ml before meals in the morning time. A special scoring pattern for subjective and objective parameter was adopted. Results: Ovulation was reported in 71.42% of the patients. Conclusion: Rasayana Basti showed good result in anovulation

BACKGROUND: In Ayurveda Classics, Sneha Kalpanas constitutes to be the most widely used and preferred formulations as it incorporates both water and lipid soluble active constituents of the medicine adding to its therapeutic efficacy. Vachalasunadi Taila (VT) is a potent poly herbal formulation explained in the context of Ear Diseases in Sahasrayogam. No research work has been carried out till date and hence an attempt is made to evaluate the Pharmaceutico -analytical standardization of VT with special reference to Murchita (MTT) and Amurchitha tila taila (ATT). METHODOLOGY: VT was prepared as per the reference of Sharangadhara Samhita. The sample was subjected to different phytochemical parameters like pharmacognostical, physicochemical, and instrumental method of analysis comparing Murchitha (MTT) and Amurchitha (ATT) Tila Taila. RESULT: Results for parameters includes specific gravity (0.89, 0.91 gm/ml), Refractive Index (1.486, 1.495), acid value (0.44, 0.45), iodine value (111.81, 113.67%), saponification value (187.09, 190.65), ester value (186.65, 190.2). Instrumental analysis with HPTLC and GC-MS for MTT and ATT also showed a slight difference. CONCLUSION The Pharmaceutico-Analytical standardization of samples reveals an improved stability data in terms of longer shelf life for VT prepared with MTT and VTA showed significant results in all other assessed organoleptic and physico chemical parameters.

The Ulnar artery being one of the major arteries related with the upper limb of the body. Most of the times its origin is the brachial artery at the cubital fossa. Its importance is such that it supplies to the most parts of the forearm, hand and also communicates with the radial artery forming superficial palmar arch. Hence in its injury, major part of the upper limb gets affected. In the routine dissection of the male cadaver, in the dissection hall of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Kuthpady, Udupi, by the Department Of Shareera Rachana a variation of high origin of ulnar artery from the brachial artery at arm level was observed and has been highlighted in this article.

The concept of Hridaya is found in nearly all the texts of Ayurveda. It is well described in “Arthe Dash Mahamully Adhyaya” and “Trimarmiya Adhyaya” of Charak Samhita and in “Garbh-Vyakarana Shariropkramnitya Adhyaya”of Sushrut Sharir Sthana. The word Hridaya itself is expressive of its function, which is Hr-taking, Da-giving, and Ya-moving. In Ayurveda, we have certain examples where a single term has multiple meanings to indicate different materials in different concepts. Hridaya is one of such examples. A careful study reveals that, at least two organs share almost equal claims to put themselves synonymous with the term Hridaya. At one end of the scale, it is the view that Hridaya is brain and on the other extremity is the notion that Hridaya refers to heart. Ayurveda described both brain and heart under one dome i.e., Hridaya. As per Ayurvedic treatises, Hridaya is not an organ that pumps blood, but something with much extensive area of action. Samhitas claims that Hridaya is that which controls body, mind, and senses and also is a seat of the intellect and vitality. But they had not mentioned the physiology of Hridaya especially how intellect, mind, sense of perception works though they are situated in Hridaya. In view of this, the entity Hridaya attracts the attention. Through this article, an attempt has been made to understand the Hridaya in the sense of heart and brain.

The concept of srotas has been described vividly and scientifically in Ayurvedic literature. According to Charakacharya, srotas is a functional unit by which sravana occurs. Srotas are the systems that carry or circulate the Doshas and Dhatu to the various organs. In the process of circulation, the Dhatu are transformed from one after the other dhatu (Rasa to Shukra). Each Dhatu has two aspects i.e., nutrition to the first dhatu and subsequently to the next. Each Srotas has a Srotomoola, a srotomarga (passage) and srotomukha (mouth or opening). The abnormality of this system leads to physiological states and likewise, the impairment of their integrity leads to pathological state. A healthy srotas is responsible for good health. Structural or functional abnormality leads to manifestation of diseases.

The cause is anovulation, Tubal blockage, endometrial factor and cervical factor are the contributing factor for female infertility whereas defective spermatogenesis, erectile dysfunction, azospermia, oligospermia are main contributing factor for male infertility whereas combine factor is 10%.Ayurveda science of life provided ampules of medicine, panchakarma therapy including rasayana for best remedy not only promoting the conception but also for best progeny. Here a case study of patient suffering from infertility due to anovulation has presented. Aim & Objective: The present study is an effort to understand the disease according to Ayurvedic principles & to evaluate the role of a safer and cost-effective Ayurvedic treatment modality in anovulatory female infertility. Materials and Methods: A clinical case study of female infertility due to an ovulation. A primary female infertility Patient with age 22 yrs with 3 years active marital life attending the O.P.D. of P.T.S.R. of IPGT & RA, Jamnagar. Anovulatory cycle was confirmed diagnosed continuous two cycle by TVS between 11th to 20th days of menstrual cycle. Brihatyadi yapana basti was administered for 15 days, 2 consecutive cycle from 5th day after menstruation. Results: Patient had conceived just after 2nd cycle of Basti. Conclusion: Hence it has been concluded that Brihatyadi Yapana basti can be practice as a line of treatment for anovulatoty female infertility by Ayurvedic gynecologists which needs further research in large sample to establish.

INTRODUCTION In the modern era of stressful life with unlawful food habits and lifestyle has led to the manifestation of metabolic disorders like Diabetes mellitus, which can be correlated to Madhumeha. It is of high concern due to its increased mortality and morbidity. There are different modalities of chikitsa in Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapy which are capable of treating the manas and shareera. Shirolepa is one such procedure which holds good in manoshareeravyadhi. Here an effort is made to study the effect of amalkyadi kalkashirolepa in patients of diabetes mellitus with and without history of stress. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 20 patients were selected and divided into two groups, group A consisted of patients with history of stress and group B consisted of patients with no history of stress. For both groups amalakyadi kalka shirolepa was given. RESULTS Both the groups showed good improvement but group A had given better results. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION Shirolepa has shown good results in both groups but it has got better results when stress factor is involved in the pathology of the disease.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a skin malignancy that rarely metastasizes and is the local invasive carcinoma of the basal layer of the epidermis. This is usually a slow growing, locally invasive tumour. The characteristic finding is of ovoid cells in nests with a single ‘palisading’ layer. It is only the outer layer of cells that actively divide. High risk BCCs are the ones that are large (>2 cm) and located at specific sites (near the eye, nose, ear) and have ill-defined margins. The main line of treatment adopted is the Radiotherapy, Surgery- excision, Local Chemotherapy, Laser etc. Based on the features of BCC we can co-relate the condition as raktarbuda in our classics. Therefore considering arbuda as chedya vyadhi, chedana was done followed by shodhana using kshara. This has caused complete remission of the disease with no recurrence in long term follow up.

Haemorrhoids are one of the most common ailments of the anorectum. It is estimated that more than 50% of the males and females would suffer from hemorrhoids before they are of 50 years of age. Haemorrhoidectomy is one among the treatment of choice, the operation becomes notorious of being associated with a great deal of post-operative pain. NSAIDs and opioids help to a certain extent for post-operative pain reduction , but they have their limitations along with adverse effects like gastric irritation and constipation. The aim of post-operative pain management is to reduce or eliminate pain with a minimum of side effects. In Ayurveda Arshas can be considered as Haemorrhoids. After the Sastra karma of Arshas, sadyo vrana is one of the outcome. In Sadyo vrana, for the pain reduction basti is considered as the best treatment. Matra Basti is a type of Sneha Basti. Taila is the drug of choice in the pain due to vata dosha. The present study deals with the use of Bala taila which is having vataghna property in the form of matra basti. Bala taila is mentioned by Acharya Susrutha for post operative pain management.

Sandhigata Vata is a type of Vatavyadhi, located in Marmasthisandhigata. It is a Shula and Shotha pradhana vyadhi affecting locomotor system. Sandhis come under Madhyama Roga Marga. Shula pradhana vedana is the cardinal feature of the disease associated with Sandhi shotha with Vatapurnadrutisparsha and lack of movement of the joints. In this study total 60 patients having the complaints of osteoarthritis were randomly selected for single arm clinical trial. Patients were treated with Tikta Ksheer Basti and Upnaha of Asthisandhanaka lepa. The duration of treatment was 15 days and follow up was taken at 30th and 90th day and for the assessment of patients subjective criteria WOMAC Scale was used. Ayurveda is our ancient traditional Indian system of medicine which is very rich about holistic knowledge towards health of human being.Brihatttrayi comprises three leading texts of Ayurveda i.e, Charakasamhita, Susrutasamhita and AstangaHridaya. These texts are excellent compilation of physical ailments and their treatment by using herbal drugs. Amalaki is one of the most valued herbal cure many of diseases. Different parts of Amalaki plant is used to cure many diseases like Prameha, Rakta pitta, Amla pitta, Panduroga, Grahniroga, Kustha, Gulma, Udavarta, VishamJvara etc. We find a thorough description about properties of Amalaki in Brihattrayi regarding different contexts. In present era, plants activities on different organsystem of animals have been proved by different types of experimental studies which strengthen the classical indication of the plant. This review article is an attempt to compile indications of Amalaki from Brihat-trayi in different diseases.

Kitibha Kushta is one among Kshudra Kushta that manifests due to Vata Kapha Pradhana Tridosha Dushti and considered analogs with psoriasis. Psoriasis is a common, chronic, noncommunicable, disfiguring skin disease. Palmo-plantar psoriasis is a variant in psoriasis that typically affects the skin of palms and soles. This is a case report of a male patient aged 37 years presenting with Lakshanas Shyava, Parusha, Kinakhara-Sparasha, Ugra Kandu, Rukshata, Asita, Krishna Varna, Ghana diagnosed as Kitibha Kushta w.s.r to Palmo-plantar psoriasis. Case was managed with Deepana Pachana, Arohana Krama Snehapana, Abhyanga and Svedana during Vishrama Kala, Virechana, Samsarjana Krama, followed by Shamana Aushadi such as immersion of hand and foot in Dashamoola Qwatha, external application of Suryapakithaila, internal administration of Mahamanjishtadi Qwatha, Panchatikthaka Kashaya, Gandhaka Rasayana, Arogyavardhini Rasa, Kaishora guggulu, Kumarabharana Rasa, Pancha Tiktha Guggulu Gritha, Eranda Taila Brustha Haritaki Churna for 48 days. With the above ayurveda management on 66th day, all above manifested Lakshanas completely disappeared. Thereby Kitibha Kushta w.s.r Palmo-Plantar Psoriasis was successfully managed by Ayurveda line of management.

In Samhita Acharya have mentioned the types and treatment of erectile dysfunction accordingly but in today’s era there are many new arising causes responsible for erectile dysfunction. So it’s need of time to provide the appropriate Ayurvedic treatment according to evolving causative factors. Ayurveda treats a disease from all points of view such as physically, psychologically, spiritually while its treatment composes of medicines, change in lifestyle, diet, exercise which not only cures the disease but also prevents from many other diseases and smoothens your life.

Alcoholism is addiction to the consumption of alcoholic drink. It is one of the major problems faced by the society. In ayurveda classics, a number of single drugs and formulations have been mentioned for treatment of alcoholism. Kharjuradimanth is one of the important and prestigious formulation which is successfully used since the ancient period.It is mentioned in many of ayurveda texts as chakradutta, sharangadhar, bhaishajyaratnavali and bhaishajyakalpana. It was first described in chakradutta written by chakrapanidutta in 11th century. The main aim of this review study is to understand the usefulness of kharjuradimanth in alcoholism on various aspects as the positive role of this formulation in avoiding harmful effects of alcohol consumption and to know the pharmacological actions of this formula on the level of doshasand agni. The kharjuradimanth contains seven ingredients as kharjura, draksha, vrikshamala, amlika, dadim, falsa, amalkiand most of the ingredients having vatapittashamaka, agnideepaka, yakriduttejaka, hridya, balya, mastishka-nadibalaprada, aruchinashaka, vedanasthapana and other properties.
