Developing manufacturing techniques of compound items it is necessary to consider the factors influencing the distribution of welding stresses resulting from local heating source in the considered conjugation interface under consideration and the nature of the changes in it. Using real products in research results in high financial and energy costs as well as possible crashes. Distribution of heat when exposed to a local heating source as well as structural, phase, chemical transformations and other technological factors can be thoroughly studied at simulating materials and processes models. The purpose of this modeling is to develop methodology for calculating the stress-strain state of compound parts structure under the influence of a local heating source using numerical finite element method (FEM). This is accomplished using numerical simulation algorithms, that is the finite element method as the most powerful and functional means of numerical analysis in a wide variety of engineering problems. Classic FEM algorithm is implemented in several steps: sampling the area under consideration, the choice of the variational principle for determining the basic unknown functions, the choice of approximating functions, the implementation of the variational principle, the introduction of boundary conditions, solution of algebraic equations using standard numerical methods. After determining the nodal displacements in accordance with the known theory of elasticity ratios the strain and stress state is calculated. Using finite-element calculations ANSYS system a method that makes it possible to perform with great efficiency modeling the stress-strain state of structural components and to predict the distribution of strains in order to ensure conditions of regulated assembling of compound products

The analysis of the characteristic features of the society historical development in the XVIIth century, scientific discoveries in mechanics has been done. It was due to the needs of production, the formation of capitalist social relations that these dis-coveries were made. The contribution of Rene Descartes and Isaac Newton in the formation of classical mechanics was investigated. It was shown that the establishing of scientific knowledge occurred in bitter struggle against scholasticism, the old approaches to seeing the world, breaking of Aristotle’s provisions, that had been sharply criticized by a new generation of scientists. It was proved that mechanicism (a new philosophical approach) didn’t appear by chance and it was a reflection of the turbulent, complex processes that took place in mechanics, the laws of which had been considered universal and applied to characterize not just natural sciences but social trends as well. Philosophical views of mechanicism founders, R. Descartes and I. Newton were analyzed. Peculiar approaches of these scholars to the scientific picture of the world, what they have in common and what is different in their approaches have been analyzed. Descartes and Newton’s methodology of understanding the world was highlighted as well (deductive and inductive methods of investigation respectively). It was established that it was impossible to step away from the mechanistic principle, because there were no other thoroughly developed scientific systems and laws. Such philosophical conclusions as avoiding definitions, that could be wrong; the desire to reduce the complicated to the most simple elements, the belief that the true accurancy of thinking exists in the mind I (ego cogito) were highlighted. Descartes’s vortex theory as the basis of the Universe creation, recognition and acception of only mechanical form of motion of matter were also highlighted. Peculiar features of philosophical approaches of Newton, who had built them on the strength of the law of gravity were shown in this article too

Solids pumps are used to pump various aggressive media, including abrasive, therefore their parts are subjected to considerable wear. Composites materials are used for restoring and protecting these parts. To determine the proper amount of the polymeric material to recover specific parts it is necessary to determine possible wear of the parts operating under specific conditions. In this paper it was considered. The problem of determining the intensity of abrasive wear of the protective coating of the parts of the pumping equipment was considered in the article. Taking an abrasive particle as a cutting tool by analogy with cutting of metal, the task in determining the abrasive wear of composite materials with different mechanical properties has been solved. A set of data on the intensity of wear of the material used to protect the parts of the pumping equipment has been got. The results were graphed to illustrate the dependence of the abrasive wear on the protective material yield point and on the abrasive particles angle of impact on the surface of the test material. The graphs show that wear increases with the increasing angle of the abrasive material impact. In these dependencies the angle range was stretching from 0°-30°, because further increasing of the abrasive particles angle of impact excludes abrasion wear. The obtained theoretical dependences are supported by experimental results. The proposed method of solution is precise enough to perform engineering calculations. It makes it possible to determine the amount of abrasive wear of any polymeric material based on polyurethane, and also to select the mechanical properties of the protective ma-terial, in particular the selection and composition of the composite material fillers

The problem of environmental protection and rational use of water resources is one of the most important problems of environmental policy in Ukraine. This problem in Mariupol is particularly acute as metallurgical and coke industries cause significant damage to adjacent water bodies (the Kalchyk, the Kalmius and coastal zone of the Sea of Azov). One of the most harmful components of wastewater of these enterprises are sulfide-containing compounds. These compounds in water can cause great harm to both human health and the environment. For example, in 1999 the main city enterprises (AZOVSTAL IRON & STEEL WORKS and ILYICH IRON AND STEEL WORKS) discharged 885,0 million m³ of wastewater (including 403,9 million m³ of polluted waste water) into water bodies. The slag dumps and landfills in close proximity to the sea form a source of dangerous pollution, because contaminated water infiltration washed out here in the groundwater and surface water, get into the Sea of Azov later on. There are 97 mg/l of sulfides in the protective dam of AZOVSTAL IRON & STEEL WORKS, what exceeds the standards (MPC = 10 mg/l). It makes it possible for us to put forward biochemical purification processes. Anaerobic microbiological method proposed in the article has several advantages (compact hardware design, a minimum amount of activated sludge and lack of energy consumption for aeration) over the existing wastewater treatment (chemical, mechanical, biological). The experimental procedure consisted in introducing the medium to be purified purified into microbial communities of high concentration (Thiobacillus «X», Thiobacillus concretivorus), which assimilated organic substances of the medium as a primary energy source. The kinetics of sulfide compounds removal by means of anaerobic microbiological method was considered. The effectiveness of wastewater treatment with changing purification process conditions has been also assessed (concentration of sulfides, reactor type, pH of the medium). The conclusions on the basis of research and the optimal conditions of industrial wastewater treatment by anaerobic microbiological method was made

One of the priorities of the energy power system (EPS) modernization is the creation and implementation of transitional regimes monitoring, which are used to improve information provision and quality of EPS regimes management. Current approaches to the control of electric power systems are based on the use of mathematical models, which are essential in performing optimal control. Obtained from the transitional regimes monitoring system (TRMS) data are used to identify the model of the electricity system that is adequate as relate to the frequency change and makes it possible to control the EPS transitional regime. The obtained EPS model can be improved on the basis of the known structure and composition of the EPS main equipment. Renewable energy sources (RES) peculiarities such as variability and unpredictability as well as connection to the distribution network make systemic regulation rather complicated. Relevance of the work is necessitated with the need to develop new approaches to the management of EPS with lots of RES. Using controlled renewable energy sources (RES) and controlling frequency improves regulation efficiency. The structure and algorithms of hierarchical system of centralized management that make it possible to control frequency using RES have been worked out

In the article nature of formation of wastes in building industry of Ancient Rome is shown on the example of building of plumbings, viaducts, roads, cult building and buildings. Description of building materials quantitative description of wastes is given. Calculations of energy consumptions and existing system of labour organization in Ancient Rome are brought. The results of calculations of theoretical minimum of wastes’ formation with the use of well-known methodologies are shown. Electric arc welding is widely used in construction and engineering for rigid connections of metal elements. Substantial nonlinearity of dynamic voltage-current characteristics of electric arcs in such equipment is a source of distortion in current and voltage sinusoids at the points of other electric receivers parallel joints. The voltage fluctuations from the nominal value result in changing luminous flux of bulbs, while current higher harmonics result in additional losses in electric motors. However, the problem of electric welding equipment influence on power lines wasn’t paid proper attention to. Therefore, this work is to research electric arc equipment influence on power lines in order to find out the values and the spectrum of higher harmonics, and the prevailing amplitudes dynamics of change. In this paper the results of experimental researches of harmonics spectrum in electrical circuits of electric arc welding machine of alternating voltage that it generates during the technological process and the main energy parameters, that influence negatively on the power supply networks of 0,4/0,23 kV. Analyzing the results of the measurements we come to the conclusion that if the load factor is about 35% the power coefficient of the welding machine is 0,46, that is rather low. Such a result is economically disadvantageous since high reactive power results in a significant increase of active power losses in the elements of power supply. That’s why reactive power compensation as well as higher harmonics filtration are necessitated

In order to maintain the competitiveness of turbo-generators (TG) it is necessary to reduce their mass and dimensions, that is to work in two main directions: to fulfil engineering, calculation and design work; to consider the possibility to provide technological processes at the enterprise where TG are produced. It is necessary to take into account the efficiency of additional expenses on extra tooling, materials and wages. These indicators form the cost of the production unit and determine the competitiveness of the TG. The structural logic of technical requirements for the design of modern TG was obtained. The formulations of requirements are the priority analysis that must be applied when choosing weight and size parameters of TG. The structural logic scheme of the design was compiled and it includes three main aspects: design, maintenance and cost. These aspects are the basis of the design of TG. In each section, the main point can be distinguished: 1) The design branch contains a list of demands to optimize the design of TG and the ways to manufacture it; 2) The maintenance branch deals with human resources management, staff qualification, wages and working conditions; 3) The cost defines the choice of a design and the quality; Proper quality of the TG can be achieved on-ly by providing reliable communication of all the components of structural and logic scheme

Charge controllers with microprocessor control are recognized to be almost optimal process control devices for collecting and storing energy in batteries in power sys-tems with renewable energy sources such as solar photoelectric batteries, wind electrogenerators and others. The task of the controller is charging process control, that is such as charging and discharging the batteries while providing maximum charging speed and battery saving parameters that characterize the state of the battery, within certain limits, preventing overcharging, overheating and the batteries deep discharge. The possibility of archiving data that keeps the battery parameters time dependance is also important. Thus, the concept of a charge controller with Texas Instruments microcontroller device MSP430G2553 was introduced in the study. The program saved in the ROM microcontroller provides for: charge regime(with a particular algorithm); control and training cycle followed by charging; continuous charge-discharge regime to restore the battery or the study of charge regime algorithms influence on repair effectiveness. The device can perform its functions without being connected to a personal computer, but this connection makes it possible to observe in real time the characteristics of a number of discharge and charge regimes parameters, as well as reading the stored data from microcontroller flash memory and storing these data on the PC hard disk for further analysis. A four stages charging algorithm with reverse charging regime was offered by the author and correctness of algorithm was proved

The article proposed a method to evaluate the technical state of tank wagons operating in chemical industry. An algorithm for evaluation the technical state of tank wagons was developed, that makes it possible on the basis of diagnosis and analysis of current condition to justify a further period of operation. The complex of works on testing the tanks and mathematical models for calculations of the design strength and reliability were proposed. The article is devoted to solving the problem of effective exploitation of the working fleet of tank wagons. Opportunities for further exploitation of cars, the complex of works on the assessment of their technical state and the calculation of the resources have been proposed in the article. Engineering research of the chemical industries park has reduced the shortage of the rolling stock for transportation of ammonia. The analysis of the chassis numerous faults and the main elements of tank wagons supporting structure after 20 years of exploitation was made. The algorithm of determining the residual life of the specialized tank wagons operating in an industrial plant has been proposed. The procedure for resource conservation of tank wagons carrying cargo under high pressure was first proposed. The improved procedure for identifying residual life proposed in the article has both theoretical and practical importance

Some features of a graphic presentation of rod/beam constructions strength analysis results obtained with the help of ANSYS finite element program are shown in the article in the form of test examples. It is noted that the results graphic presentation that ANSYS generates is influenced not only by the spread loads application mode and the settings used for this presentation (the absolute value and the scale factor sign), but by the order of joining the keypoints when making-up the rod/beam axis as well as the usage of Boolean operations when creating a geometric model. The explanations as to the filling in the SHEAR field when making up in the ANSYS system the beam models based on the elements that don’t take into account the influence of the shear on deflection are given in the article. In this field, for short beams, the value of the factor that enters into the differential equation of an elastic line and taking into account the tangential stress non-uniform distribution with the height of a cross-section at transverse bending and that appears in a differential equation of the deflection curve is given.In the article, values of this factor for box section beams as a function of its sides length ratio as well as for beams of normal and wide I-beams are given. The reference information available in ANSYS Help that is necessary to present the results in table or graphical forms is represented in the form adapted for direct application. The sequences of commands to form the tables and the graphs are available in the article as well

Correct positioning and fastening of freights are important safety conditions of na-vigation. Unreliable positioning and fastening of freights results in shipwreck and is the reason for injuries and losses of human lives both in the sea and during loading and unloading. To solve the above-mentioned problems, the International Maritime Organization publishes manuals in the form of either the Assembly resolutions, or the circulars approved by Maritime Safety Committee. The correct definition of necessary quantity of lashings and their positioning has the greatest impact on safe fastening of freights. The sea being rough, the vessel is accelerated both in longitudinal, and vertical and prevailing cross directions. The forces created by these accelerations generate the majority of the problems in fastening. The order of calculations of the force moments and forces acting upon the freights being shipped by sea vessels has been shown in the article. To know the proper number of lashings the calculations of the forces acting upon the freights being shipped as compared with the forces holding the freights and taking into account the strength, the number and the fastening angle of the lashings must be made. Оption of realization of algorithm of calculation with use of the а computer program to make these calculations has been offered. Some recommendations so that the program could be used by the management of the vessel, the surveyor companies and technologists of the port have been given as well as an example of such a calculation

The algorithm of the simulation graph of industrial enterprises reactive load at different values of the correlation functions parameters have been developed. The simulated graph has 172 values: 162 are used for training of each of the prediction methods, and the remaining 10 for comparison with the predicted values and for calculation of errors. A two-layer network with back-propagation of a mistake, with seven neurons in the hidden layer, one input and one output were used in predicting with neural networks in Matlab package. The activation function of the first layer is Hyperbolic tangent sigmoid transfer function, and the second one is a linear function. The Lewenberg-Markvart function was selected for training of the model. Predicting by using statistical methods was made by extrapolation. In this paper, predicting based on extrapolation is implemented in the Mathcad program. The problem reduces to determining the value of a parameter outside the region in which the value of this parameter is known. This function is implemented in Mathcad by the command "predict". The last of the studied methods widely used today in industrial enterprises is predicting of the mean value. Its essence lies in finding the arithmetic mean value of the reactive load for the previous day and tun-ing the compensating devices to the power. The conclusions of the feasibility of each of the methods of the reactive loads predicting for different values of the attenuation coefficient of the correlation function are based on the comparison of the errors of predicting methods

Method of finite elements (FEM) is used in calculating tasks of hydrodynamics and heat transfer tasks. The essence of the method consists in the approximate solution of a variational task. To formulate this task a functional concept is used. The type of a functional is different for different tasks and is selected through a special choice. Currently FEM is widely used in calculating the strength and in solving tasks of heat transfer in solids. However, it can be applied in calculating the flow of liquids and gases. There are also methods that combine elements of the finite volumes and finite elements methods. The combination of these methods make it possible to use a wide range of computational meshes ( tetragonal meshes, pyramidal meshes, prismatic meshes, polyhedral meshes) what is necessary for solving tasks with complex geometry. This approach is used by CFD packages Ansys CFX, Ansys Fluent, Star-CD, Star-CCM +, Comsol and others. The method and the analysis of 2D mesh were carried out, using a method of final elements in ANSYS Meshing for heat exchangers with an inline arrangement of tubes in banks and with their curvilinear arrangement in compact banks of tubes of a new design. Particular features were considered and the algorithm of making up a mesh was developed for tasks of hydraulic and gas dynamics and thermal mass transfer. The necessity to use trend-seasonal processes analysis and forecasting to manage seaports activities have been shown in the article. The statistic data showing the sea of Аzov ports freight turnover essential reduction in ice conditions is cited. The cited data has shown that in ice conditions the Azov sea ports freight turnover reduces considerably; in case of poor weather conditions and storm warnings the vessels arriving at ports can’t be loaded and unloaded in time. The concept of seasonal prevalence which is understood as regular periodical changes in weather conditions resulting from season change has been defined. Seasonal fluctuations are rather complicated -they are generated in one navigation area, transmitted to others, transformed and keep moving on calling forth subsequent fluctuations and interfering with sea transportation. From the point of view of this analysis seasonal prevalence is expressed in the form of oscillatory processes. In statistical researches seasonal prevalence indices and factors are used to describe seasonal fluctuations. Various models forecasting seasonal time series have been studied. A special approach to forming the information base and, considering all the activities of the port in the ice conditions, meeting the demands of continuous planning and regulation has been developed. Statistical forecasting including all stages of dynamic series processing has been offered and improved: the analysis of seasonal processes and forecasting of a seasonal wave. Such approach to forecasting can be applied to a wide range of the problems concerning the scheduling of fleet and ports

The article presents the improved design of the elastic element of the slide direction error compensator. The two-layer elastic element consisting of upper and lower elastic plates of variable thickness is placed between supporting surfaces of the slide and the die upper plate. The joint between the upper and lower plates is stepped The rigidity of this compound elastic element is specified so that at the processing load deformation of the elastic element can not exceed 20-25% of its total height. The optimal value of the horizontal displacement of the upper plate necessary to achieve the necessary rigidity of the elastic element is defined in the article. It has been found that the displacement of the upper plate of of two-layer elastic element should be multiple to the height of the press bed deformation at processing loads. Variable thickness of the compound elastic element may also be used to adjust the interdie space. The processing loads range has been widened as well as the application of the compensator for the «press-and-die» system errors. The proposed design of the compensator elastic element is simple and with minimum of expenses, makes it possible to withstand several million compression cycles

The effect of shock wave treatment in water on fatigue behavior of heat treated carbon steel is presented in the article. The carbon steel with 0.45 % of carbon was studied. Before being treated with shock wave the specimens were quenched and tempered at 300oC. Cyclic loading on symmetrical bending trials was performed. It was found that the shock wave treatment results inf hardness and fatigue strength of steel increase. The hardness increase derives from the growth of the total number of the crystal lattice defects. The increase of fatigue endurance is attributed to the moment of transition shift from reversible to irreversible damage up to the higher amplitude area accompanied by growth of cycles number before breakage. It is due to the improvement of steel structure resulting from the shock wave processing. It ensues from the mobile dislocations increased amount, which provides, through recombination, the subsequent increase of endurance in cyclic loading. As an additional source of the amount of mobile dislocations increase is the dislocations tear-out from fastening spots as a result of the shock wave treatment

The problem of raising efficiency of power plants with internal combustion engines has been analyzed in the article. Comparative analysis of internal combustion engines has been carried out. Energy conversion in internal combustion engines is one of the most energy consuming systems. Efficiency increase of this system is considered with due regard to both the design parameters of a diesel engine and its operating conditions, making it possible to work out more reliable and objective methods of minimizing consumption of natural and energy resources in power plants. Comparative analysis of the existing methods of evaluation as well as of internal combustion engines models were performed with due regard to all the limitations. on its basis the principal drawbacks and imitations of those methods as well as types of engines were determined. It has been decided that in spite of plenty of investigations on the internal combustion engines the problem of selecting a proper engine type it has not been solved yet and solved and further investigations are required. A method of specifying an internal combustion engine type on the basis of descriptive forecasting model was suggested. Such models are compiled by processing of statistic investigations results. The main tendency of development be-comes evident, it being the most important result of this investigation and making it possible to increase the efficiency of these processes. The developed method makes it possible to specify internal combustion engines with optimal parameters, taking into account the heat transfer conditions at modernization or repairs of energy transforming objects. Implementation of this method simplifies evaluation and selection of diesel engines at modernization and repairs that results in energy and resources saving and ensures optimal conditions for technological processes

Various kinds of tuyere sinking into liquid have been developed and tested on a converter simulating model, velocity of gas jet penetration into liquid has been defined, the gas jet behavior in liquid homogenious medium has been researched. Experiments have been made on a simulating model of a 250-ton oxygen converter, made in the ratio 1:25 scale. Water is a metal- simulating liquid. Technically pure oxygen is blown. A one-nozzle tuyere has been used in the experiment, a gas jet going out of it interacting with motionless liquid. The blowing conditions having been specified, the behavior of the gas jet was observed, the crater shape was drawn, the penetration depth was defined. Penetrating into the liquid to a maximum depth the gas jet gets reflected and moves in the opposite direction making the liquid within the boundary layer at the interface move after it. Under such circumstances, gas jet and liquid heat and mass transfer takes place at the interphase surface. The research can be used to determine the dependence of liquid cast iron interphase surface with the oxygen jet in a converter on such parameters as the tuyere height above the liquid iron surface and on the oxygen volume speed at blowing. It was stated that changing position of the tuyere ensures uniform distribution of oxygen in the liquid; the gas jet and liquid interaction makes it possible to give better idea of the mass transfer

Austenite to ferrite and pearlite transformation has not been studied enough for low-carbon peritectic steels. Experiments were carried out in the electric arc furnace. Samples of the liquid metal were taken during smelting; three sample at melting, oxidation and reduction as well as one sample from the bucket were taken. The optical binocular microscope Axio Imagez A2m (production of the German company Zeis AG) was used to analyze the samples for the chemical composition of the elements and for the microstructure(ferrite and pearlite amount). It makes it possible to determine ferrite-to-pearlite relation in steel by means of the special program Thixomet Pro. Experimental percentage of ferrite was compared with the equilibrium percentage of ferrite calculated from the carbon content in the sample from the Fe-C phase diagram. It has been found that during charge melting experimental ferrite content is 0,52-1,7 equilibrium ferrite content. During the recovery period the microstructural heterogeneity stabilizes and is equal to 0,91-0,93 equilibrium heterogeneity. This ratio is in good agreement with the data available in literature. The amount of rejected finished metal as function of the tem-perature of the melt at the outlet of the furnace has been determined as well. The amount of rejected steel is minimum if steel is 1,052-1,07 times overheated above the liquidus point which is equal to the temperature of equilibrium microheterogeneity of the molten metal

An analysis of the state of slags recycling in foreign countries was carried out. A modern principle was put forward in the article: blast furnace is an apparatus for manufacturing of two basic types of products : cast iron and slag. Granulation, as the primary recycling of slag melt fixes the structure with certain properties at rapid cooling. An analysis of the existing methods of granulation was carried out and factors influencing the quality of granular slag were determined, as well as the ways of obtaining granular slag with the required physical and mechanical characteristics. The main factors of granulated slags quality, employed for manufacturing of binding materials are chemical composition and the structure of fine granulated particles. All wet methods of granulation are characterized by high humidity of granulated slag, its value reaching 24,5%, due to increase in granules’ porosity. Real options for reducing humidity of granulated slag may include: development of the process of granulation, ensuring manufacturing of products with increased density and low content of fine fractions, dehydration of slag in high bunkers and stacks at sufficient soaking time and slag blowdown with a stream moving downwards. Using mechanical granulators and gaseous energy carriers (air) for melt’s dispersion is an efficient way of reducing water consumption for granulation (semi-dry or dry methods of granulation). It also makes it possible to reduce r consumption of water, supplied for granulation from 3,0 to 0,7-1,5m3/min. Application of air blast for melt’s dispersion influences its fractional composition and grain shape in the slag: the content of the fraction less than 1,25mm reduces to 49,1%, as compared to conventional 92,8%. The content of spherical grains is with tough surface is 33%, it promoting reduction of residual humidity of granulated slag. Thus, application of air blast for granulation of slags is an efficient way of obtaining high quality granulated slag

A new approach to the assessment of the «critical» concentration of impurities in metallurgical melts has been put forward by the author. The inapplicability of the traditional method of their calculation, based on kinetic studies of oxidation processes for the elements, the affinity with oxygen of which is lower than that of the base metal melt has been shown. The nature of the oxidation process when the impurities concentration is above the critical concentration, has been ascertained, a great number of laboratory and field data having been used. It has been proved experimentally using the developed installations that oxidation of arsenic hardly occurs in real metallurgical melts. There is a concentration gradient as to the mo-lecular and convective diffusion, providing for the transfer of the reacting components in steel tubs. The kinetic equation for the oxidation of impurities at concentrations below the «critical» concentration has been shown. An attempt was made to determine the «critical» concentration of arsenic; arsenic being one of those elements, chemical affinity with oxygen of which is higher than that of iron; it forming volatile oxides. The author managed to show that in case the concentration of arsenic in the melt Fe-As is critical iron becomes the oxidizing component and it is its «critical» concentration that should be determined. Kinetic curves of impurities’ oxidation in «concentration – time» coordinates have been built. The «critical» concentration of solvent metal can always be determined from the beginning of the oxidation process retardation. The data obtained in the refining of arsenic-bearing conversion pig iron at the steel works «Azovstal» have been listed. Critical concentration of arsenic is possible and can only be detected under certain conditions of the oxidating refining, that provides for the transition from the surface of the reaction to gaseous As2О3

Investigation of carbothermic self-recovering kinetics of metallurgical production Fe-C waste materials has been continued in this work for model monodisperse wustite-carbon and magnetite-carbon samples. On the strength of the results of differential thermal analysis the temperature of the beginning of the interaction in polydisperse material was determined. It should be more than 960oC. Kinetic curves of carbothermic self-recovering at 970oC and 1050oC were obtained on monodisperse model samples. During the study of high-temperature processing kinetics of Fe-C waste materials the amount of removed oxygen was determined from the volume and composition of the emitted gas phase. The method comprising simultaneous volume - dynamic and gas analyses was used. Analysis of the results showed that with increase in temperature the maximum rate of oxygen removal was achieved faster and had greater value. Analysis of the gas phase showed that at the initial stage of the process CO content was low over the whole operating temperature range. Then it increased and CO/CO2 ratio remained constant till the experiment was over. The concentration of CO for all temperatures being studied was about 75%, the rest was CO2. It convincingly indicated that the process is out of equilibrium with the gas phase and shifting towards CO2 formation. It was found that the completion of the first stage of the process is characterized by virtually zero magnetic properties of the material, i.e. by obtaining pure wustite. The obtained results confirmed the two-stage scheme of carbothermic process of dispersed Fe-C waste materials self-recovering and its topochemical nature. Studies of electrophysical and magnetic properties of the samples after the carbothermic self-recovering have been made. We found that for the studied materials the value of the specific saturation magnetization keeps growing during the process, reaching 179 Am2/kg for wustite-carbon sample. The obtained value of the specific electric resistance varies slightly from 1,710-4 to 2,710-4 Ohmsm

To study the influence of coal batch properties on coke strength we have considered the quality of the coke produced at the plant in Krivoy Rog from 2008 till 2012. Such factors as the large number of coal suppliers, imprecise selection of the optimal degree of batch crushing result in the decline in coke quality, the batch density and contents of the lean class (<0,5 mm) are not optimum; poor blending of the batch after crushing; increased moisture and ash content of the coking batch; and extreme fluctuation in the coal and batch characteristics. It was found that high humidity of coal batch and its large fluctuations has most profound effect on the mechanical properties of coke. Under deteriorating resource base the quality of the coking batch preparation is important, To have batch of proper quality the following key aspects must be taken into account: the batch must be crushed to an optimum degree that will result in leaning components decrease and increased contents of vitrivite in it which improves the sinterability and coking, and hence the quality of coke; the degree of mixing of the coking batch in all indices must be up to 98-99%, for uneven distribution in the coal chamber worsens the quality of coke

Guniting and residual slag spraying in an oxygen converter, gas-cooled tuyeres of several patterns have been offered. The calculations to reduce oxygen consumption required for lancing, as well as to simplify the tuyere design have been made. Systems of differential and integral equations have been used to calculate such factors and physical actions as powder concentration, duct length and power influence, suspension of matter in gas velocity relation over the area of high temperatures. Experiments have shown that substitution of the gas-cooled tuyere for the water-cooled tuyere converts the tuyere into a heat exchanger making it possible to use the energy formerly lost as a result of dissipative losses. The results of this work can be used to improve existing and new advanced technologies that reduce emissions into the environment

Thermal regime of blended materials sintering results from the distribution with height of solid fuel and chemical components in the layer. It depends on the loading mode and fractions segregation across the charge prepared for sintering. Loading in its turn, depends on the loading device, the design of which will influence the forming of the layer of material, and consequently, the fractional composition of separate horizons of the charge stacked on pallets. In the work, a layer of polydisperse charge being loaded onto the pallets of the sinter machine and the layer forming process dynamics have been studied. The way to calculate the fractional composition of the charge distribution with the height of the layer has been put forward by the author and operating range of the tray parameters for the effective work of it has been offered as well. The design of the tray with an air gap and consisting of several parts makes it possible to change the angles of the inclination of the either surface which in its turn influences the rate of the moving particles as well as the width and height of the air gap, thereby providing for the control over the dynamics of the layer formation. Research has led to the conclusion that the use of such a tray is the most effective providing for the desired distribution of the material fractions and consequently for the distribution of solid fuel by horizons of the mixture prepared for sintering, which makes it possible to stabilize the thermal conditions of the sintering process and improve energy efficiency and productivity of the sintering process

The influences of regime parameters (total pressure differential, surplus impulse, consumption etc.) on change of the blowing stream characteristics (hitting range of the jet joined to the gas mass jet from the surrounding medium, etc.) in discharge conditions without acoustic feedback through the nozzles with different Mach num-bers, the generatrix and the widening nozzle axis forming an angle have been analyzed. The corresponding dependencies for submerged (isothermal) jets have been received which practically coincide with the experimental data. The regimes undesirable for blowing have been shown. These results and the analyses of the parameters of the supersonic jet as a function of the melting blowing regime refers to the jet penetrating the liquid with the difference that it is necessary to take into account such additional factors as the gas composition and temperature of the gases surrounding the jet, opposite streams of gases, the availability of the second phase, and so on. The received results must be taken into account in designing, improving and operating blowing devices and burners. The received dependences to define the hitting range, additional mass, the jet section diameter on various factors, that is discharge parameters, blowing devices design and others can be used in choosing the peculiarities of the nozzle design in blowing devices and blowing regimes optimization

Real parameters of the gas expiring out of narrowing nozzles of different confi-guration have been calculated knowing the discharge coefficients obtained experimentally. Rather a simple method to calculate the «second» critical pressure differential dependent on discharge coefficients at cut-off expiration modes has been offered. Using an inviscid fluid one-dimensional model the author has confirmed that it is impossible to receive critical speeds in the output hole. The method makes it possible to estimate the value of the pressure in the separation point (if it is available), where the Laval nozzle section is minimum and knowing «second» critical pressure differential (or total pressure at cut-off expiration). The received data can be used as initial data to calculate jet flows passing through various kind of holes. The analytical research results of gas discharge regime through the holes (nozzles) have shown, that a one-dimensional model can be used to calculate the parameters of the expiration through holes of different configuration in the nozzle narrowing part precisely enough to estimate changes of the main (basic) flow parameters in the channels of the holes. The analysis of the research indicates that the flow coefficients at flow-off expiration modes for convergent and convergent-divergent holes are identical and the parameters in critical section are identical as well. The total pressure recovery coefficient is approximately equal to the flow coefficient, there being losses of total pressure. The received results can be used in power engineering, metallurgy etc. developing various blowing devices and burners

Отделочно-зачистная обработка поверхностей деталей, целью которой является очистка деталей, снятие заусенцев, скругление острых кромок, подготовка поверхностей под покрытия – их шлифование и полирование, применяется во всех отраслях промышленности, особенно широко – в машиностроении и приборостроении. Анализ производства деталей машин различных отраслей машиностроения показал, что различным видам отделочной обработки подвергают 85-95% выпускаемых деталей, при этом трудоемкость этих операций составляет 10-20% общей трудоемкости изготовления деталей. На сегодняшний день одним из путей развития машиностроения является изготовление деталей машин высокого качества, долговечность и надежность которых в значительной степени зависят от точности их изготовления, оптимальных физико-механических свойств поверхностных слоев сопрягаемых поверхностей. Это, в свою очередь, требует усовершенствования методов отделочной обработки, особенно на финишных операциях, расширения технологических возможностей, внедрения на их основе новых технологических процессов. Среди производительных методов, осуществляющих отделочные (а также зачистные) операции, имеет место вибрационный метод обработки, который характеризуется обеспечением высокого качества обработанных поверхностей и широкой универсальностью вибрационного станка. Однако при вибрационной обработке мелких плоских деталей наблюдается неравномерная обработка их поверхностей из-за слипания в пакеты и налипания на стенки вибрирующего контейнера. Все это требует изыскания новых технологических возможностей вибрационной обработки, характеризующихся более высокой интенсивностью и производительностью, высокими качественными показателями, создания новых методов, способствующих ликвидации налипания деталей на стенки контейнера и слипания их между собой в процессе обработки. В связи с этим в работе решается актуальная научно-техническая задача разработки и внедрения эффективного технологического процесса виброабразивной обработки мелких плоских деталей на основе научно обоснованного выбора методов, способствующих расширению возможностей вибрационной обработки путем изменения формы контейнера и функций рабочей среды, обеспечивающих процесс обработки и разделение слипшихся деталей. В статье показано экспериментальное подтверждение тому, что при увеличении кинематической вязкости рабочей среды толщина пленки на обрабатываемой поверхности увеличивается, что приводит к снижению шероховатости и уменьшении силы сдвига плоских образцов относительно друг друга

This paper describes an algorithm of determining the amount of deoxidizing and alloying materials that are loaded into the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) and steel ladle on the base of information about burdening of melting and chemical composition of the steel using artificial neural network (ANN). The analysis of resent researches and publications regarding mathematical modeling of BOF melting and application of ANN as such models was made. This analysis show that selected topic has novelty and relevance. The schematic of interaction of different kinds of mathematical models in the system of automated control of BOF melting is offered. The research of applicability of artificial neural networks for determination of quantity of deoxidizing and alloying components is performed. The place of the obtained artificial neural network in the overall system of automated control of basic oxygen melting is described. The description of the multistep selection process of the ANN architecture is given. The correlation coefficients and mean square deviations for all parameters are found. The results of performed analysis are considered satisfactory. The recommendations for replacement of alloying and deoxidizing components in the absence of any of them in stock are given

Проведен теоретический анализ закономерностей формирования погрешностей механической обработки отверстий с учетом неравномерности снимаемого припуска и образования в технологической системе упругих перемещений. Показано, что при рассверливании отверстия в следствие участия в резании двух противоположно расположенных лезвий сверла происходит увеличение диаметра обрабатываемого отверстия на величину упругого перемещения. При растачивании отверстия возникновение в технологической системе упругого перемещения не приводит к превышению диаметра обрабатываемого отверстия номинального значения. Это предопределяет принципиальное отличие условий формирования погрешностей обработки при рассверливании и растачивании отверстий. На основе полученных зависимостей определены пути повышения точности обработки отверстий
