The work was carried out in the southern part of the Vaga River basin (within the Verkhovazhskiy, Syamzhenskiy and Totemskiy districts of the Vologda Region) as a part of the studies for Red Data Book of the Vologda Region. Results obtained are important for clarifying the chorological and phytocenotic regional preferences of a number of species of vascular plants and for identifying modern "centers" of rare and protected species, giving an idea of the environmental value of this basin and its parts. As a result of field studies in 2015–2019 a total of 550 new localities of 67 protected and 52 rare species of vascular plants were recorded, including 2 species (4 localities) with the 1/CR status, 1 (1) with 1/EN, 3 (7) with 2/EN, 8 (30) with 2/VU, 22 (86) with 3/NT, 28 (126) with 3/LC, 3 (5) with 4/DD, and 52 (291) species with a “biological control required” status. Within the boundaries of the present protected areas, only 17 protected and rare plant species were found (14.3% of the total number within the Vaga River basin). The most important findings include Saxifraga hirculus L., Scorzonera glabra Rupr. (1/CR); Calypso bulbosa (L.) Oakes (1/EN); Eremogone saxatilis (L.) Ikonn., Poa alpina L., Potamogeton crispus L. (2/EN), Epipactis atrorubens (Hoffm. ex Bernh.) Bess., Listera cordata (L.) R. Br., Poa remota Forsell. (2/VU); Festuca rupicola Heuff. (biological control required), as well as several non-status native (Helictotrichon pubescens (Huds.) Pilger, Nonea pulla DC.) and adventive (Euphorbia helioscopia L., Onobrychis viciifolia Scop, Silaum silaus (L.) Schinz ey Thell.) species, new or previously reported for the Vologda Region.

The article provides information on the new locations of two species of heterogeneous lycopods – Isoetes lacustris and I. echinospora in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Ugra. I. lacustris is a new species for the Okrug. Both species found together in 4 lakes in the southern part of the Khanty-Mansi District (Sogom village), in the middle taiga subzone. I. echinospora is also found in two lakes in the north-eastern part of the Beloyarsky District, in the territory of the Noomto Natural Park

The work summarizes data on the distribution, biological, ecological, and population characteristics and protection of the regionally rare and protected the Bryopsida moss, Neckera pennata Hedw. in the Vologda Region. To date, the species has been recorded in 92 localities in the Region, in all the administrative districts of the Region and in 38 squares of the Atlas Florae Europaeae. A total of 48 new localities from 18 administrative districts are listed for this species, at that Neckera pennata is reported for the first time for 12 districts (Babushkinskiy, Belozerskiy, Velikoustyugskiy, Verkhovazhskiy, Kichmengsko-Gorodetskiy, Mezhdurechenskiy, Nyuksenskiy, Sokolskiy, Ust’-Kubinskiy, Ustyuzhen-skiy, Kharovskiy, Chagodoshchenskiy districts). In the Vologda Region, the species occur in old mesophilic aspen and aspen-spruce forests. In addition to Populus tremula L., which is the main substrate for the moss, Neckera pennata was rarely observed on 10 more species of woody plants (Larix sibirica Ledeb., Picea abies (L.) Karst., Betula pendula Roth, Populus alba L., P. balsaminifera L., Sorbus aucuparia L., Salix caprea L., Tilia cordata Mill., Ulmus glabra Huds., U. laevis Pall.). Currently, the species is included in the Red Data Book of the Vologda Region with a 3/LC status and is protected in the region in 15 protected areas, including two federal, 12 regional and one local protected area. The main threats to the existence of the species are associated with the removal or fragmentation of old forests due to logging.

The article presents the results of the use of cluster analysis to characterize 15 coenopopulations of Iris pumila L. in Saratov region, using generative traits (the color of the flowers and the barbule, the diameter of the flower, the height of the footstalk with the flowers and the footstalk to the ovarium, the length of the perianth tube, bract, the length and width of limb of inner perianth lobe, the length and width of inner perianth lobe, the length and width of external perianth lobe) and the physical-geographical conditions (height of the surface, slope exposure, distance from the Volga River) in which the populations are located. Cluster analysis was carried out separately on the basis of only generative traits and separately taking into account physical and geographical conditions. For the studied coenopopulations of I. pumila, a relationship between the physical and geographical conditions in which they are located, and the values of the generative organs of plants of this species have not been established.

429 higher vascular plants from 74 families and 269 genera were marked at the territory of the Yukhnovskiy biological sanctuary during the field studies in 2018. Based on research, there was prepared a checklist of flora in which all the species were given their bioecological and geographical characteristics. Also information on distribution and occurrence degree was provided briefly. There were given taxonomic, ecological and geographical analyses of flora. Synanthropic fraction was defined and described. There were marked the places of growth of 12 species included in the Red List of Belarus: Arnica montana, Campanula latifolia, Cephalanthera longifolia, Huperzia selago, Laserpitium latifolium, Lathyrus laevigatus, L. linifolius, Lilium martagon, Prunella grandiflora, Pulmonaria angustifolia, Pulsatilla patens, Thesium ebracteatum. Also there were marked 13 species from the list of preventive protection: Aquilegia vulgaris, Anthericum ramosum, Campanula persicifolia, Daphne mezereum, Epipactis helleborine Goodyera repens, Hierochloe australis, Hepatica nobilis, Matteuccia struthiopteris, Phyteuma spicatum, Platanthera bifolia, Primula veris, Thalictrum aquilegifolium, as well as a number of rare plants for Minsk oblast and Belarus. Some invasive species were marked. Species diversity increase was registered due to cultivated alien species run wild.

The article provides information on the findings of 13 alien vascular plant species and 1 subspecies (from 14 genera and 7 families) made in the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous region (Russian Federation) in 2013–2017. Among the species found are new to the regional flora Cucurbita pepo and, possibly, Silene flos-cuculi, and rarely found in the region of Arctium tomentosum, Carduus crispus, Chenopodium glaucum, Convolvulus arvensis, Descurainia sophia, Geum aleppicum, Lactuca tatarica, Lotus corniculatus, Raphanus rhaphanistrum, Sisymbrium loeselii, Tussilago farfara.

Ontogenetic structure of natural populations of rare plant species is the main characteristic in assessing their current state and forecasting further development. In the Middle Volga basin, the ontogenetic structure of Hedysarum razoumovianum Fisch et Helm (Fabaceae) populations was studied. The species is native to the northwestern border of the range and is included in the Red Books of the Russian Federation and Samara Region. In the course of the work, population-ontogenetic research techniques were used. The assessment of the types of populations carried out by the criterion of "delta-omega". The basic ontogenetic spectrum of coenopopulations centered with the predominance of mature generative individuals. Most coenopopulations are mature normal. Average demographic indices of cenopopulations Hedysarum razoumovianum : substitution index – 0.30; recovery index – 0.31; aging index – 0.04. The average age (Δ) is 0.44, the average efficiency (ω) is 0.72. The change in the demographic parameters of Hedysarum razoumovianum cenopopulations on the Middle Volga is influenced by the degree of anthropogenic load. It was revealed that a strong anthropogenic load, like its complete absence, leads to a gradual aging of populations.

The results of the floristic survey of 15 geographical points located on the territory of Volgograd region (Russia) are presented. A total of 565 vascular plant species belonging to 139 families were found. The authors found the location of 18 species listed in the Red Book of Russian Federation (2008): Artemisia salsoloides, Colchicum laetum, Delphinium puniceum, Fritillaria ruthenica, Genista tanaitica, Hedysarum cretaceum, Hyssopus cretaceus, Iris pumila, Jurinea cretacea, Koeleria sclerophylla, Lepidium meyeri, Matthiola fragrans, Otites hellmannii, Pulsatilla pratensis, Stipa dasyphylla, S. pulcherrima, S. zalesskii , Tulipa schrenkii and Red Book of Volgograd region (2017): Asperula tephrocarpa, Centaurea gerberi, Crambe tataria, Jacobaea schwetzowii, Juniperus sabina, Jurinea ledebourii, Lepidium coronopifolium, Scrophularia cretacea, Stipa cretacea.

The collection of herbaceous perennials at the St. Petersburg State University Botanical Garden numbers at least 680 taxa. The collection contains 78 species of the flora of the North-West of European part of Russia. This number includes 35 species, listed in Red Books of Russian Federation, Leningrad Region, Baltic Rim and Eastern Fennoscandia. The list of rare and endangered species contains a total of 46 items. Lunaria rediviva is rare species for Leningrad Region. It has joined the ecosystem of the park zone of Botanical Garden, demonstrating successful growth and pro-liferation. The collection contains endemics of the Caucasus and Siberia. Among the ornamental plants, the largest in number of cultivars are Phlox paniculata – 54 varie-ties and Paeonia lactiflora – 20 varieties. The results of observations of the wintering of cultivars of Antirrhinum majus, Lavandula angustifolia, Penstemon hartwegii are presented.

Spatial regularities in distribution of the green mass of herbaceous plants main communities at Mount Mogutova within the Zhiguli low mountains are studied using multiple regression methods. It is shown that 81% of this variability is due to direct environmental factors - soil acidity and humidity. At the same time, 77% of the green mass variability is explained by topography, as well as the direct environmental factors themselves (from 69 to 83%). The role of topography in spatial differentiation of direct-acting factors is substantiated.

The main results of the study of restorative successions on the felling areas in the Southern Ural region carried out for many years by researchers of Ufa geobotanical school under the leadership of Boris Mikhailovich Mirkin are presented. The classification of clear-cutting vegetation is developed and presented the main regularities of vegetation communities formed in course of restorative successions after clear-cutting forests belonged to the classes Querco-Fagetea, Brachypodio-Betuletea, Vaccinio-Piceetea and Asaro-Abietetea.

The contribution has been appreciated of Boris Mikhailovich Mirkin, an outstanding Russian geobotanist and a scientist of encyclopedic learning, to the syntaxonomy of cyanobacterial-algal coenoses and communities of macrophythic algae. B.M. Mirkin participated actively in the classification work on cyanobacterial-algal coenoses of caves and the communities of macrophythic algae of the Black Sea that was conducted for the first time ever.

In 2006–2015, the variety of synanthropic and synanthropized vegetation of the settlements in the central part of the Bashkir Cis-Urals was studied. The prodromus includes 9 classes, 14 orders, 21 unions, 37 associations, 5 subassociations, 23 variants, 15 communities, 15 basal communities, 8 derivative communities. Among them 4 associations, 2 subassociations, 12 variants, 9 communities, 9 basal communities, 6 derivative communities are described for the first time in the Repub-lic of Bashkortostan.

The review of the plant communities of the class Alno glutinosae-Populetea albae P. Fukarek et Fabijanić 1968 of Lower Volga Valley has been carried out. The Lower Volga Valley vegetation database was used for this purpose. The database was created using the computer program TURBOVEG. Now it includes a total of 14954 relevés, recorded on the territory of the Lower Volga Valley in the period from 1924 to 2013. Expert system based on the method «Cocktail» applied for recognition of relevés that can be attributed to the associations listed above and occurring in the Lower Volga Valley. The characteristics of 2 associations of the class Alno glutinosae-Populetea albae, in this region is given. Associations are subject to the order Alno-Fraxinetalia excelsioris Passarge 1968, to the alliance Poo angustifoliae-Ulmion laevis Golub in Golub et E.G. Kuzmina 1997.
