The analysis of the island in Mr. Tournier's novel "Friday or the limbo of the Pacific" in semiotic terms, refers essentially to R. Barthes’ theory of punctum and the theory of praxis, applying its basic principles for the operation of the island as a sign. We made comparison of the island with the punctum as defined by R. Barthes and we develop an alternative hypothesis which logically leads us to talk this time of the island in the context of praxis. Moreover, it is called the second part of the semiotic symbol of the island which is built around the possible match between Ile/Praxis. Thus, Tournier’s Robinson transforming the island, is transforming himself and is geting conscious of his identity, his freedom, and his moral, religion, his metaphysical essence.
