Following those aspects of Zygmunt Bauman’s theory of postmodern ethics that point to differences between modern “history”, which brings only what has already happened, and postmodern literature, which “corrects” the past by confabulating what could have happened, the paper interprets the work of Bosnian writer Darko Cvijetić, whose (re) presentation of the reality of Bosnia and Herzegovina offers a literary truth about the experiences of crimes against the innocent and a possible new ethical idea of humanity. By starting from the hypothesis that the ethical side of a literary text calls for critical thinking stronger and more effective than facts and documents, we read Cvijetić’s works as testimonies of traumas that can be overpassed only if we are aware and willing to accept them. As a testimony to real events and their consequences, which are mostly kept silent, Cvijetić’s literary text deepens consciousness. The paper will examine the ethical dimension (individual and collective) of Cvijetić‘s opus between factography, literary representation, protagonists, lyrical subjects, writers and recipients.

There are many scientific studies that have dealt with the production of media content and tried to answer the question of what shapes media content. In this paper, the focus is placed on the hierarchy of influences model, which through analysis at five levels allows the identification of crucial concepts and the identification of links between different factors influencing the journalistic outputs. Although there are some ambiguities and inconsistencies around this model, it seems to be a significant framework that allows for the advancement of research efforts in the field of journalism. In this study, by providing examples of questions about journalism in Bosnia and Herzegovina we try to indicate possible directions for the development of research that would deepen the understanding of the relationship between society and the media.

The phenomenon of fandom seems to be present in various forms of entertainment from books and films to games. Hundreds of millions of people visiting a singular website dealing with only one form of fandom production supports this statement. However, it is not only the matter of being a fan, but also a member of community with its own culture and language. Because of this, a look into the characteristics of the language can only be a step towards the understanding of culture. Therefore, this paper deals with the fandom jargon, but from a morphological point of view. More precisely, a corpus of 33 words was analysed in terms of word-formation processes employed and this led to some conclusions regarding the productivity of word-formation processes and tendencies in the innovative use of language.

For a long time, the first and perhaps the only association coming to a mind at the mention of the philosopher, writer and feminist theorist Simone de Beauvoir has been her essay The Second Sex, one of the foundational texts of modern feminist thought, published seventy years ago. However, the author’s previously articulated feminist beliefs did not influence the emergence of The Second Sex. Essentially, her essay is based on the concepts of Sartre’s existentialist philosophy that have allowed Simone de Beauvoir to formulate some of the most progressive views of feminist theory. This paper presents the most important philosophical concepts from which originated the Second Sex with a special reference to a method in which the author overcame, adapted and changed the limits imposed by the postulates of the universalist philosophy, profoundly insensitive to any gender differentiation / issues/ to the question of gender. Through the changes that needed to be included in her philosophy for purpose of analyzing the causes of female inferiority in society, Simone de Beauvoir stepped away from Sartre’s views, showing, without a conscious intention, the originality of her own philosophy.

Color is a very important factor of communication because it is all around us. However, the symbolism of the color black is very specific and it ranges from elegance, fashion or status, to mourning, protest or anarchism. The aim of this paper is to find out to which extent business people are aware of their perceptions of colors and how they are used to communicate, especially the color black as a preferred color and its relationship with styles of communication, and selection of strategies for conflict resolution. The results indicate that a high percentage of the respondents to the questionnaire associated the color black with a rational communication style that is based on facts, rational phrases, arguments or evidence. It also shows that business people really believe that the color black in business communication is a symbol of good business communication and the choice of wearing black colored clothing for important business occasions is not random. It also shows the importance and to a certain extent the power of black in resolving conflicts.

Diversity management is an integral part of every company's strategy and doing business without this concept is inconceivable. In the business world, diversity management means taking advantage of differences or diversity within an organization in order to achieve the best possible business results. A bank in a part of town mostly populated by members of a specific ethnic group can be taken as an example. Such a bank will most certainly employ several associates from that ethnic group to improve or optimize its business results. In principle, no part of the economy exists in which diversity management is not prominent or in which diversity management as a concept is not used. The aim of this paper is to theoretically examine diversity management and gender mainstreaming as well as to present methods which should ensure the use of these concepts in the context of adult education.

The first part gives an overview of the basic trends of comparative study of literature in the last century on European and American areas, with particular emphasis on changes in epistemological assumptions and methodological approaches influenced by gnoseological and dialectical horizons that have brought new literary theoretical paradigms in the last decades 20. century. It brings a diachronic sketch of the history of the South Slavic literatures and the reading of the South Slavic literatures, which, by varying intensity and volume of academic work, intensely or affectively, reflected the continuity of the comparative approach to the literatures of the South Slavs. In the climate of socio-political changes brought about by the inevitable dissolution of the Yugoslav state community, inertial differentiation and the alienation and mutilation of South Slavic cultures, since the early 1980s, we have been following attempts to find new patterns and a platform for comparative study of South Slavic literatures. Although welcome pluralism is present today in the South Slavic intercultural space in understanding the concepts of national, comparative and world literature, their ontological-empirical relationship, the concept of interliterary community and the theory of the interliterary process by Dionýz Ďurišin seems, in the urrent transitional-globalization context, as the most perspective a platform for future South Slavic comparative literature and the inter-literary/intercultural history of South Slavic literatures. The paper concludes with texts and books that demonstrate a kind of consensus on this issue, visible over the past two decades in almost all key academic centers of the former Yugoslav republics.

The aim of the study was to examine the contribution of perceived parental behaviour (emotionality and control) in explaining disordered eating patterns of adolescents (diet, bulimia and food preoccupation, and oral control). The survey was conducted on a sample of 898 high school students (54-% female respondents), of an average age of 18 years (M = 17.76; σ = 0.94). Information on disordered eating patterns was collected through Eating Attitudes Test, EAT, 26, and the assessment of the perception of the basic dimensions of parental behaviour was performed through The Scale of perception of parental behaviour. The link between the adolescent perception of parental behaviour and disordered eating patterns has been registered approximately 45-% (R=.67) of the variances of disordered eating patterns have been explained by the chosen predictors. Individually, the most efficient predictor was following a diet modality, where 41-% (R= .64) of the variances were explained. Bulimic behaviour and preoccupation with food was also found to be a very significant predictor, with 34-% (R=.55) of the variances explained as is the case with oral control, which accounted for 30% (R=.55) of the variances. Looking at the variables individually, the most efficient predictor was the perception of the mother’s behaviour: namely the mother’s control (β=.49) and the mother’s emotionality (β= -.30), while the perception of the father’s behaviour was not as significant; (father’s control - β=.10). The estimation of occurrence of disordered eating habits is more efficient in adolescents who perceived their parents as less emotional. The same is the case when parents are perceived as exerting excessive control over their child’s behaviour (especially in the case of the mother).

For the deeper and more complete understanding of the results of a pupil's success is very important to studying and deeper understanding of the context in which pupils learns or of the various conditions that form an integral part of these contexts in school and family. If we want to understand an individual's development, we must understand the interactions between the individual and his or her present and past environment. In his theory of ecological systems, Bronfenbrenner (1994) calls this transactional relationship as “development in context”. In order to understand the context in which our pupils are developing, an empirical study was conducted and the sample consisted of 196 seventh and eighth grade pupils from four elementary schools in Canton Sarajevo, 121 parents of the surveyed pupils and 64 subject teachers. The aim of the research is to identify the most significant predictors of adolescents' academic achievements by theoretical analysis of the relevant pedagogical literature, also by results of a survey conducted on a sample of respondents and to try to assess their importance in enabling young people to cope with societal challenges. The results of the research show that high quality teacher-pupil relationships, family-school partnerships, and a high level of learning motivation are very important predictors for learning and progress of pupils.

Trust in institutions is important in the functioning of an individual society, especially in emergency situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this paper is to investigate the trust of young people in education during the COVID-19 pandemic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia and to investigate the connection between trust in education and their value system. The research was conducted on 1024 students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia using an online survey. The PVQ-RR questionnaire on 10 basic human values (Schwartz 2017) was used in the research – self-direction, benevolence, stimulation, achievement, tradition, security, conformity, power, universalism and hedonism. The results of the multiple regression indicate that the value of conformity is a significant predictor of trust in education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, while the values of tradition, conformity, stimulation and universalism are important predictors of trust in education in Croatia. These differences in results are very likely related to the specific situation in Croatia, which suffered a devastating earthquake in addition to the pandemic in its capital, which should be taken into account in the future when creating and implementing psycho-social support and assistance programs.

The aim of this paper was to examine the contribution of adolescents’ personal characteristics, family context variables and peer context variables in explaining the variance of self-esteem during early, middle and late adolescence. The research sample consisted of 344 students (7th and 8th graders) from six elementary schools, 370 students (2nd and 3rdgraders) from five high schools and 357 college students (2nd and 3rd graders) from five higher education institutions. The average age of participants was M=12.6 (SD= .63) for elementary school students, M=16.5 (SD= .57) for high school students and M=20.6 (SD=1.17) for college students. The following instruments were applied: Socio-demographic Features Questionnaire, Big Five Questionnaire, Big Five Questionnaire for Children, Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire, Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale, Friendship Quality Questionnaire, Inventory of Peer Attachment-Revised and Self-esteem Scale. The results of hierarchical analyses indicate that decribed set of predictor variables account for 48% of total variance of self-esteem in young adolescents, 41% of total variance of self-esteem in middle adolescents and 46% of total variance of self-esteem in older adolescents. Considering personality and peer context variables, in all three adolescent groups, the self-esteem was significantly predicted by emotional stability/emotional instability and energy, and by perceived quality of attachment with peers, respectively. With respect to family context variables, the self-esteem was significantly predicted by perceived family cohesion and adaptability in young adolescents, by perceived parental acceptance-rejection of mothers in middle adolescents and by perceived parental acceptance-rejection of both (mothers and fathers) in older adolescents. The results of this study clearly indicate the necessity of taking into account the different forms of family and peer interactions, as well as the developmental specificities of particular period of adolescence, when considering personal and environmental determinants of self-esteem in adolescents.
