Law, many have said, is humanity’s oldest science. Throughout history, we find an incomparable whirlpool of intricated authors, fact and trends: from the origins of civilization, with the gens, stretching out to the first organized social formations, reaching the city-states, the great empires of both western and eastern peoples, spanning the medieval dominions, their communes, the religious organization following the organization of the Catholic Church (1075) and the merchant cities until the formation of the national states (15th century), the development of its structure with the revolutions, bourgeois or proletariat, and the posterior organization of international law and its institutions.
