PERFIL NUTRICIONAL DE MULHERES DO SETOR COMERCIAL NA CIDADE DE BELÉM - PARÁ

The social, economic and demographic transformations in these last few decades due to the increasing of urbanization and modernization caused changes in lifestyle of the population and in your eating habits that resulted in the prevalence of the increased overweight and obesity, characterizing the nutritional transition. The waist circumference (WC) is able to estimates the intra-abdominal fat that reflects the mass of visceral adipose tissue. The aim of the study was to evaluate the nutritional profile in stratified sample of 96 women attending in Food and Nutrition Unit of the Social Service of Commerce (UAN/SESC), in Belem, Brazil, with anthropometric data (weight and height), to calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI) and measurement of waist circumference (WC), through cross-sectional study. The age average was 34.6 ± 9.8 years, with the majority (51%) is aged 20 to 34.9 years. The labor sector with the most representation was commerce, with 58.3% of women. Regarding the working hours, 60.4% of sample said not only work but also do housework. The majority is eutrophic (49%), and 39.6% are overweight. Regarding the CC, 66.3% of women proved to be suitable for this measure, with no significant risk for cardiovascular disease. The anthropometric measurements, when combined, increase the precision in the pathologies investigation that characterizes the nutrition transition experienced in recent decades, which tend mainly to affect women.
