ATIVIDADE FÍSICA E DIETA COMO MEIOS PREVENTIVOS DA OBESIDADE INFANTIL

The prevalence of obesity has increase in Brazil and around the world, also increasing the prevalence of other diseases and the charge on public health system. Besides the greater prevalence on adults, the childhood obesity is also preoccupying, since that it can be maintained until adult life. The causes are inappropriate nutrition and low practice of physical activity, leading to diabetes, cardiovascular and psychological problems, as low self-confidence. The class of Physical Education must be an instrument to prevention, however the parents has the role to take care of health diet, replacing manufactured and high caloric foods, the preferred by children. The objective of this study was to discuss the influence of sedentariness and diet on childhood obesity, together with the role of class of Physical Education on the its prevention. The role of teacher on incentive the children to practice physical exercises on the school and outside added with health nutrition certainly contribute to obesity prevention. Thus, the children must to practice diversified physical activities, however without early specialization on a single sport, intense training and exigencies that can provoke a premature child desistence. The leak or low practice of physical activities, bad nutrition and low energy expenditure are the determinant factors to childhood obesity.
