AVALIAÇÃO NUTRICIONAL ASSOCIADA À MELHORA DO PERFIL NUTRICIONAL DE IDOSOS PARTICIPANTES DO PROJETO INTEGRAR

Introduction: The process of population aging is a natural phenomenon and global, which in Brazil is relatively recent, however irreversible. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the body composition of elderly physically active, as well as their changes, but also the implications of the same functionality, combining the improved nutritional profile. Materials and Methods: This study was a study qualitative and quantitative conducted with 70 elderly people of both sexes, aged 60 years, Projeto Integrar at the University of Grande Rio - Unigranrio, participating in physical activity. Anthropometrically were evaluated from the weight, height, Body Mass Index (BMI) and Waist Circumference (WC). Results: It was found that there was a higher prevalence of overweight, especially in females. Discussion: Women have a higher prevalence of overweight than men, with the possible explanation of the biological aspect, tend to accumulate more subcutaneous fat and lose muscle mass at older ages. Conclusion: It was concluded that there was a predominance of women in research and aged between 60 and 69 years, the group evaluated was observed an unexpected high number of elderly people of both sexes overweight, well as in relation to abdominal adiposity (WC), resulting in values above those considered standards.
