In this article the urgency of exploring the cultural traditions of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).
The role of the Russian Orthodox Church in Russian society today is undergoing major changes. Today, she is
transformed into an influential social institution that promotes the revival of national consciousness, spirituality,
morality and culture of the nation. It is necessary to take into account the historical experience of cooperation
between the state and the Russian Orthodox Church in solving modern problems existing in our society.
In the last decade, the Orthodox Church has been regarded by the state, part of our society as an integrating
force that is able to maintain spiritual continuity and unity of the people. So, today the religious factor, perhaps
the most significant and in Russian life. In recent years, more and more important, causing widespread interest
in scientific and educational community and society as a whole, it is the development in our country, school
religious education. Of decisive importance is the study of Orthodox culture to the implementation of principles
of state policy in the field of education, particularly relevant to secondary school. The general education
training objectives civic tasks, diligence, respect for human rights and freedoms, love of nature, homeland,
the family now appear in a number of priority. Orthodoxy as a branch of Christianity defines the uniqueness
of the Russian culture.
Orthodox culture embraces a wide range of social phenomena, affecting virtually all major areas of social
life, especially the spiritual sphere of society. It is noted that the Orthodox culture can influence on the formation
of patriotism, morality, and other qualities for the development of the individual and, therefore, can help in the
spiritual revival of Russia. As an example, the author refers to the cultural traditions established by the Altai
Spiritual Mission, which activity requires reflection and, to some extent, demand in our time. Orthodox Altai
was one of the starting points of education and the formation of cultural centers.
