The article reviews modern Russian cinematography as an actual kind of art in the national culture.
The most significant semantic and stylistic trends of the film processing are revealed and analysed on
the example of films by M. Razbezhkina, К. Serebrennikov, А. Fedorchenko, А. Balabanov, I. Vyrypaev,
А. Uchitel, S. Smirnov and others. It is deducted that cinematography creates an image of time in the language
of time itself and competes with scientific discourse in interpretation of the life purpose problem.
