The article considers the mechanisms of human values interiorization in modern society on a personal
level, discloses stages of interiorization of values in terms of their functional significance for the human
development. It contains the analysis of the degree of involvement, the role and direction of values actualization
in the construction of social reality, the characteristics of structure and crystallization in the institutional
practices of values in which the agents project existing social attitudes and ideas about the significance of
the direction of social participation.
Interiorization of values in the article is defined as an intrapersonal process of forming the individual,
holistic and hierarchical system of personal values, which consists of the formation of personality importance in
rules, tools and goals of social participation. The paper considers intrapersonal factors of values interiorization
that define the degree of acceptance of the individual group values. These factors include characteristics
of self-identification, self-esteem, orientation to values, desire to realize the potential, and volitional qualities,
degree of awareness and sustainability of life priorities, ideals and values.
Then, the article reveals the four stages of a mature personality formation: adaptation, socialization,
self-actualization and transcendence. An analysis of these stages as four successive processes of integration
of the individual and society has shown that each of these levels of development of the individual values
play a key role as a determinant of development and media from the external social environment to human.
But the function values in each process is different. Adaptation is to overcome the uncertainty and maintaining
the equilibrium in people-social environment through synchronization of value orientations. At this stage,
the value of the function of feedback goes from external (cultural) environment to man, but the individual
is a passive receiver of information. Socialization reflects the internal acceptance of the values of social
environment (culture medium, reference groups etc.).
With socialization, keeping information, the function values become motivators and the basic connection
between man and his particular social position, allowing the individual to understand the social position,
communication, and in accordance with them, features of his situation (action, expectations, benefits
and limitations). Self-actualization is directed to developing the unique, autonomous system of values.
In the process of self-actualization, the values become a source of changes (private and social), and, unlike the first two levels, can lead to conflicts. The values become an indicator of compliance, and social conditions
are realized in them as the essential human needs. Transcendence is realized in self-identity and subsequent
self-realization of individual in society.
