Objective:to evaluate the protective and risk factors of urinary tract infection in pregnant women in a clinic. Materials and methods: retrospective study of cases and controls in pregnant women. The cases were 138 pregnant women with urinary tract infection and the controls were 138 pregnant women without the infections attended in a clinic in Lima. For the bivariate analysis Chi-square tests, Student's t test and the unadjusted model with Odds Ratio and 95%confidence intervals were used. Results: the protective factors of the urinary tract infection were receiving ferrous sulphate (OR: 0.5, p = 0.01) and obstetric psycho-prophylaxis (OR: 0.5,p= 0.02). A risk factor was not receiving vaccines (OR: 1.7, p= 0.05). Conclusion: receiving ferrous sulfate and obstetric psycho-prophylaxis are protective factors of the urinary tract infection and not receiving vaccines is a risk factor to present this infection. Given these findings, nurses are encouraged to take these into account in order to achieve the reduction of UTI in pregnant women through educational interventions on this pathology, promoting the importance of attending both prenatal check-ups and obstetric psycho-prophylaxis. Objective:to determine the association between the characteristics of the child and pneumonia in children under five years of age. Materials and methods: a retrospective study of cases and controls in 293 children under five years of age. The cases were 114 children with pneumonia and the controls were 130 children without hospitalized pneumonia in a clinic in Lima. For the bivariate analysis, Chi-square, the student and the unadjusted model were used with the probability ratio and 95% confidence intervals. Results: one pneumonia protection factor was exclusive breastfeeding (OR: 0.5; p=0.05) and risk factors for presenting pneumonia inthe mother (OR: 1.4, p = 0.02)four to five years (OR: 2.2, p=0.02) and have a hospitalization (OR: 1.8, p=0.03) and previous respiratory disease (OR: 3.8, p=0.002). Conclusion: providing exclusive breastfeeding is a protective factor of pneumonia. Whilethe occupation of the mother, ages between four and five years and having a hospitalization and a previous respiratory disease are risk factors for pneumonia in children under five years. The search for information on pneumonia for mothers and caregivers,promoting the practice of exclusive breastfeeding.

Objective:to determine the relationship between resilience and the meaning of life in mothers of students of a special basic educational center. Materials and methods: study of correlational scope and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 120 mothers from a special education college in Los Olivos. The main variables were resilience and sense of life. The STATA 14 program was used for descriptive and inferential data analysis.Results: 54.17 % of mothers showed moderate resilience and 82.5 % had high indicators of the presence of a sense of life. Likewise, it was found that there is a relationship between the meaning of life and resilience (p = 0.004), in the same way, between the meaning of life with the level of instruction (p=0.015) and occupation (p=0.026), respectively.Conclusion: the meaning of life is related to resilience, since difficult situations guide mothers to rethink and question the purpose of their reality, broadening the perception of the meaning of life. It also gives them the ability to adapt and deal with difficult situations, even transforming even stressful moments. Likewise, finding a sense of life, in spite of the adversities, was identified in the mothers who dedicate themselves to housework and who reached higher education or finished high school.

Objective:to determine the effect of an exercise program with fitball support on postural control in a group of students from Lima Norte. Materials and methods: analytical study with experimental research design. The sample size was 110 students, divided into 55 for the control group and 55 for the experimental group. The exercise program was applied for a period of 2 months with a frequency of 2 times per week. The T-student test was used for the statistical analysis.Results: the average age was 13 years for the control group and 14 years for the experimental group. Likewise, there is evidence of significant effectiveness between the proprioception and central stability dimensions of the Core with the exercises with fitball support. For the experimental group, proprioception with an average of reaches in right inferior member 5.47 cm (p=0.0001) and that of the left 6.99 cm (p=0.0000); similarly, for the central stability of the Core, the differences in scopes, in the lower right limb, medial 6.89 cm (p=0.0038)and posteromedial 5.47 cm (p=0.0126); on the other hand, in the lower leftanteromedial limb 6.68 cm (p=0.0069), medial 10.30 (p=0.0000) and posteromedial 11.03 cm (p=0.0002). For the control group we observed significant efficacy of the central stability in the difference of the anteromedial projection of the pretest and post test in the left lower limb (p=0.0025). Conclusion: the application of the program significantly influences the improvement of postural control.

Objective:to determine the association between the type of hospital and the perception of the elderly about the humanized care of the patient. Materials and methods: the study was cross-sectional descriptive-correlational. The sample was 60 elderly. 30 older adults hospitalized in a private health facility and the other 30 in a public facility of themedical service. The variables that were taken into account were: perception of the older adult about the humanized care provided by the nurse, type of hospital, among other variable sociodemographic. In the descriptive analysis of the categorical variable frequencies and percentages were used. For the inferential analysis, Chi-square and Student's t tests were used.Results: more than half of the elderly had an unfavorable perception about humanized care (58.33%). Being hospitalized in a public facility (96.67%) and having more days of hospitalization were associated with a perception of unfavorable humanized care (100%) and while being hospitalized in a private facility (80%) and having fewer days of hospitalization (61.5% )) were associated with a favorable perception of humanized care.Conclusions: the perception of the elderly about the humanized care offered by the condition is related to the type of hospital and the time of hospitalization. Faced with these findings, look for the authorities of the hospitals under their charge and create awareness actions aimed at nursing staff to provide humanized care to the elderly patient.

Objective:to determine what factors are associated with the attitude of university students of nursing towards the research of a university in Lima Norte. Materials and methods: cross-sectional descriptive correlational study with a quantitative approach. In the descriptive analysis of the categorical variables frequencies and percentages were used. For the bivariate analysis, the Chi-square test was used. For the association between the numerical variable vs the categorical polytomics, the Kruskal-Wallis test was previously used for the normality test of Shapiro-wilk with a significance less than or equal to 0.05. The instrument entitled Scale of Attitudes toward Research was used, which consisted of 30 items.Results: it is shown that the attitude toward research in nursing students was moderately favorable (58%). On the other hand, there is a significant relationship between working time (p = 0.02), reading articles or books per week (p = 0.04) and research training (p = 0.01) with attitude toward research. That is, working more than 10 hours (63.6%), reading fewer books and articles per week (0.8 ± 0.6) and not attending research training (25.0%) were associated with an unfavorable attitude towards research.Conclusions: students who work longer, read fewer books and articles per week and do not attend research training have an unfavorable attitude towards research. It is recommended that the authorities and teachers of the universities implement educational strategies in order to support students with these sociodemographic characteristics and encourage research through curricular courses, scientific events, etc.

Objective:to determine the relationship between parental ties and sociodemographic variables in the students of a pre-university center. Materials and methods: study of correlational scope and non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 187 students from a pre-university center in northern Lima. The main variables were: Parental bonds and sociodemographic factors. Data analysis was performed through statistical software STATA 14.Results: a relationship was found between the parent overprotectionand primary caregiver dimension (p = 0.00), as well as mother overprotection (p = 0.008) and primary caregiver. Likewise, the mother overprotection dimension was related to the place of birth (p = 0.001). The highest values of the dimensions of parentalties were recorded in There is also significant relationship between parental bonds in the dimension of overprotection of the mother with place of birth (93.63%). High values were obtained in the dimension of overprotection of the mother (93.05%) and the father (82.35%).Conclusions: biological parents are perceived as more overprotective than other primary caregivers. This relationship could diminish the autonomy, the capacity of decision and adaptation, characteristic effects of overprotection. The relationship between the overprotection of the mother and the place of birth may be related to psychosocial and cultural factors that should be more studied in future studies. It is suggested to promote systematic psychological intervention for parents and children in the community and educational environment.

Objective:to measure the strength of association between musculoskeletal symptoms, De Quervain’s tendinitis and Smartphone possession. Materials and methods: cross-sectional and analytical observational study with sample of 200 participants from 13 to 35 years of agefrom Los Olivos district, Peru. Information was gathered about possession, possession time, frequency of use, characteristics of the Smartphone and sociodemographic factors. The Nordic Questionnaire was used to detect and analyze musculoskeletal symptoms and estimate the level of risk of injury. The Finkelstein test was used to diagnose De Quervain tendinitis.Results: strength of association between de Quervain's tendinitis was found with the frequency of use of the Smartphone a week (OR = 1.03; p = 0.021) where increasing one hour more the frequency of use per week would cause an increase of 3% risk of injury. In relation to the other parts of the upper extremity, no significant association was found. Conclusions: there is no association between musculoskeletal symptoms, De Quervain’s tendinitis and Smartphone possession. But if there is evidence that there is strength of association between De Quervain tendinitis and discomfort in the neck with the frequency of use of the Smartphone.

Objective:to determine the relationship between Internet addiction and family functionality in students of a University of Lima Norte. Materials and methods: cross-sectional correlational study. The sample consisted of 364 university students. The dependent variable was Internet addiction. The Chi-square, U of Mann-Whitney and Kruskal Wallis tests were used for the bivariate analysis. Results: of the sample, more than half corresponded to the female sex (58.2%). The average age was 19.8, most of them were 15 to 19 years old and belonged to the Psychologydegree (39.3%). On the other hand, Internet addiction had an average of 20.1. Regarding family functionality (cohesion), 31.6% corresponded to the cohesion and 29.7% to the cohesion connected. In family functionality (adaptability) 40.7% belonged to structured adaptability. It was evidenced that the highest average values of Internet addiction corresponded to dispersed family cohesion (27.9), rigid family adaptability (23.7) and chaotic family adaptability (20.8).Conclusions: internet addiction is related to family functionality. University students from families with dispersed cohesion and with rigid adaptability as well as chaotic were associated with the presence of Internet addiction. The results of this research indicate the need for promotional preventive programs that promote adequate family functionality.

Objective: to determine the efficacy of the teaching of the disease process in the therapeutic behavior and the level of knowledge in hypertensive patients of hospitalization wards of a public hospital in Lima. Materials and methods: a quasi-experimental design study with an intervention method (pre and post) with a one-week follow-up was used. The sample consisted of 40 patients between 60 and 85 years old living in Lima. Results: significant changes were found in the post intervention groups, improving from 3.54 to 3.72 in terms of the therapeutic behavior variable in the control group compared to the intervention group that had a greater increase from 2.98 to 4.06, while in the variable level of knowledge, the control group presented an improvement of 3.0 to 3.02 while in the intervention group there was an improvement of 2.56 to 3.56. Conclusion: the intervention influenced the increase in both the level of knowledge and therapeutic behavior. Likewise, it had a positive effect on the indicators of the main variables (recommended precautions, normal range of systolic and diastolic blood pressure).

Objective:to determine if there is an association between the performance in the area of physical education and the type of footprint in Lima schoolchildren. Materialsand methods: The study was cross-sectional. The sample consistedin 217 schoolchildren from6 to12 years old. The study variables were: academic performance in the physical educationarea, typeof footprint and Hernández Corvo's index and two sociodemographic variables (sex and age). Chi-squared, tests Kruskal Wallis, Spearman and multiple linear regression were used. Results: the average of the academic performance was 15.69 and Hernández Corvo's index was 0.52 in both feet. Both in the right (54.38%) and left (58.99%) feet, a higher percentage was found in the type of plant footprint. There was no relation between the academic performance and the type of footprint (p = 0.26) and being woman is related to have foot with a cabo(right = 65.52%, left = 75.86%). In the multiple analysis to the academic performance adjustment, Hernández Corvo ́s index and age was significant. Conclusions: It is evident that there is norelationship between academic performance in of physical education area and the type of footprint. Onthe other hand, being a woman is related to have foot with a cabo. Likewise, a trend in the increase of academic performance is shown through linear regression analysis. Due to the low variability of academic performance averages, it is recommended to usean accurate instrument to measure grades with practical performance indicators and other precise instruments to measure the footprint.

Objective:to determine the factors associated with violent crimes in men and women in prisons at a national level.Materials and methods: a secondary analysis of the 2016 National Penitentiary Population Census was carried out. For the bivariate analysis, the Chi-square test was applied. Results: 64.6% of men and 94.6% of women committed aggravated robbery, while the remaining 35.4% and 5.4% of men and women, respectively, were admitted for sexual crimes. The main variables associated with violent crimes in males were: being in early adulthood (p=0.000), being single (p=0.000), not having used weapons (p=0.000), not having been in a youth center (p=0.000), not having consumed drugs hours prior to the crime (p=0.010)and having consumed alcohol (p=0.000). On the other hand, for women, the associated variables were: being in adolescence or early adulthood (p=0.000), considering that she was discriminated against due to have a criminal record (p=0.020) and not having used a weapon during the commission of the crime (p=0.000). Conclusions: there are many factors associated with violent crime for men. Among them, alcohol consumption is an important associated factor that is a predictor of aggressive behavior. Other psychological factors should be studied in depth in order to approach the phenomenon considering its multicausality.
