The article deals with the problems and prospects of future use of the main facilities constructed for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in the framework of the formation of the economic capacity development of the destination. The effects of holding the mega-events can be numerous and ambiguous. It is necessary to consider both positive and negative aspects of economic, social, political, commercial and cultural nature.
The article presents the research results concerning the intentions of tourists to insure the travel risks from their own funds. It is argued that the majority of health tourists are willing to spend for this purpose from 1 to 2 % of tour price.
