This paper aims to analyze the spaces of political intersection that have been established between the Wayuu people and the hegemonic Venezuelan society. Rurpose, we use the ethnographic method to articulate fieldwork conducted in urban communities and political organizations that are built. The Wayuu are people of a relentless mobility and ethnic vitality; but today, they face assimilation, appropriation, innovation and creation of socio-cultural elements in the light of exchanges with the dominant power system. In conclusion, we believe that the legal/political recognition of indigenous cultures is not enough. We must take the necessary steps for an intercultural dialogue that allows the relevance of wayuu leadership (new or traditional) that redefines their practices, in the urban, in a constant tension between change and continuity.

The present research is due to the sociocultural project to rescue, recognize and preserve the Haitians immigrants’ culture in Báguanos ́ community. It has an ethnographic study about some legends and Traditions that goes around the Cuban-Haitian holly week in Báguanos and it ́s cultural significance as such. Essential hints of this haitians ́culture and it presence in the mentioned zone, having as a base the oral testimonies recopiled about that forcing culture.

The documents have remained, within the category of dead sources, those that seem to stop time in an eternal instant and where the social conditions of the writing remain unchanged, in a state of perpetual being. However, it is possible to discover in the texts present in the press a live discourse in which the social representations of active groups in each period can be analyzed. The women of the Periodo de Transición Democrática(1936-1948) in Venezuela, are manifested through these texts; his presence and absence is a testimony of the social dynamics of the period. Through a documentary ethnographic proposal it is possible to collect their testimonies and draw a panorama of the constructions of the feminine

Si quisiéramos suscribir la obra de Yara Altez dentro de algunas de las sub-disciplinas de la antropología podríamos enmarcarla perfectamente en una antropología filosófica. Aunque más concretamente la autora lo definiría en su obra como una “epistemología de la antropología” o una “antropología de la antropología” lo que implicaría un esfuerzo de autorreflexión sobre la disciplina en torno a la producción de conocimiento teórico y aproximación al hombre, la sociedad y la cultura. En resumidas cuentas, una antropología mirándose-preguntándose a sí misma.

In search of its visibility and the rescue of its culture, the Afro- Bolivian people are looking for their original roots. The present paper reports an anthropogenic study carried out in the Afro-descendant populations of Tocaña, Chijchipa, Mururata and San Joaquín, in Nor Yungas, Bolivia. The characterization of the communities based on genetic markers and biodemography has allowed to observe the high degree of conservation of the African heritage. We analyze the contribution of this work to the search process of identity of the afroboliviana community.

The Kebra Nagast is an apocryphal text recovered by the Etiopian Ortodox Church. At the same time, it is central to the understanding of the biblical hermeneutics of the Rastafarians in Jamaica. Within a greater frame of interest in the Afro-Americans religious traditions, particularly in the case of Rastas, we approach the Kebra Nagast in order to understand the possibilities and scope of the text. We initially trace the footprints of Ethiopianism in Jamaica since the end of the XVIII century, and then discuss the Kebra as a continuation of an Africanist tradition of biblical interpretation.

This article deals with the policy of recognition that people of African descent claim in their international decade, proclaimed by the United Nations between 2015 and 2024. Beyond institutional recognition as “blacks” or “Afrodescendants”, organizations seek to legitimize identity Afro-descendant, as a political agency with greater cultural visibility in public policies and in legal mechanisms for overcoming poverty and citizen equality. The text discusses the epistemic, sociological and political considerations for self-determination of the Afro-descendant people category, which would lead to the Declaration of the Rights of Afro-Descendant Peoples, within the scope of the Decade.

This article presents the results of an investigation that refers to the participation of Afro-descendants in the founding of mixed peoples and “of Spaniards”, in the middle Orinoco, as a strategy of settlement and territorial control initiated by the missionaries and colonial authorities during the second half of the eighteenth century in Spanish Guiana. It shows the formation of communities that have persisted until the present and that by the conditions of its foundation and by the heterogeneous character of its first inhabitants are not part of the Afro-Venezuelan imaginary.
