Çalışma kapsamında Kocaeli Sanayiinin gelişimi, Osmanlı’daki sanayileşme çabaları ve bu süreçte imparatorluğun geleneksel iktisadi sisteminde yaşanan dönüşüm serüveni eşliğinde incelenmektedir. 19. yüzyıldaki sanayileşme çabaları çerçevesinde, yüzyıllardır genel hatlarıyla korunarak süregelen Osmanlı iktisadi sisteminin bazı temel nitelikleri, -onyıllara yayılan bir çabayla- bu uğurda dönüştürülerek sınaî kalkınmanın koşullarına daha uygun hale getirilmiştir. Gerçekleştirilen sınaî yatırımlarda ilk aşamada yaşanan başarısızlıklara rağmen ısrarlı bir şekilde sürdürülen çabalar neticesinde, 19. yüzyılın sonlarına yaklaşılırken Osmanlı ekonomisi artık yeni koşullara intibak edebilmiş durumdadır. Öyle ki, bu süreçte gerçekleştirilen sınaî yatırımların bir kısmı uluslararası standartlarda üretim yapabilecek ölçüde başarı sağlamıştır. Ancak İttihat ve Terakki dönemindeki iktisadi ve siyasi politikalar, nihayet Avrupa sanayii ile intibak aşamasına gelmiş olan yüz yıllık sanayileşme kazanımlarını adeta yıkıma uğratmıştır. 19. yüzyıl boyunca devam eden sanayileşme ve fabrikalaşma sürecinin en önemli halkalarından birini de bugünkü Kocaeli şehri teşkil etmiştir. Bu süreçte İzmit Sancağı’nda tesis edilen ve Osmanlı sanayiinin en önemli alt kolu olan dokuma sanayii açısından İzmit Sancağı’nı bir sanayi merkezine dönüştüren fabrikaların, erken Cumhuriyet dönemindeki ilk büyük sanayi yatırımları için şehrin bir kuruluş yeri namzedi olarak değerlendirilmesinde de etkili olduğu düşünülmektedir. In the scope of this study, the development of Kocaeli Industry is examined along accompany of industrialization efforts in Ottoman Empire and the adventure experienced in transformation of traditional economic system of empire through this process. Within the framework of industrialization efforts in the 19th century, some basic natures of Ottoman economic system that had been ongoing by protection in general frame were converted in this cause -with a big effort spread to decades- and it has been made more convenient with the terms of current industrial development. As approaching to the end of the 19th century, Ottoman economy was able to adapt to the new conditions brought about by industrial revolution, as a result of continuous efforts in a persistent manner despite the failures in industrial investments occurred in the early stages. More clearly, some of the industrial investments made in this process were successful to such an extent that can produce with international standards. However, economic and political policies in the period of the Committee of Union and Progress have almost destroyed the industrialization gains of one hundred years, which finally came to adaptation stage with European industry. Today’s city of Kocaeli constituted one of the most important parts of mentioned industrialization process that was ongoing in the 19th century. Factories established in Sanjak of Izmit in this process transformed Izmit city (Kocaeli) into an industrial centre in terms of textile industry, which is the most important sub-branch of Ottoman industry. In this study, it is deduced that this situation had a significant effect on the city of İzmit (or Kocaeli) to be considered as an alternative place for establishment of industrial investments during the early Republic period.

Toplumsal değerler sistemi erkekliğe ayrıcalıklı bir konum sunmaktadır. Erkekler, toplumsal alanda kendilerine yüklenen ağır işler sebebiyle bu ayrıcalıklı konumu hak ettiklerini düşünürler. Ailede başlayan toplumsal cinsiyet öğrenimi, sosyal ilişkilerle devam ettirilir. Bu öğrenimi kitlelere yayan bir araç olarak medya, toplumsallaşma sürecinde önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Toplumsal cinsiyetlerine göre kadınlığı ve erkekliği belirleyen ayrıştırma, ayrımcılık anlamı yüklenerek, sosyal kurumlar tarafından toplumun her alanında sürdürülmektedir. Ataerkil sisteme dayalı toplum yapısı, cinsiyet temelli ayrımcılığın ortaya çıkmasındaki başlıca sebeplerden birisidir. Ataerkil topluluklarda kadınlar her zaman geleneksel rolleriyle var olurlar. Çocukları büyütmek ve temizlik yapmak gibi sorumluluklar yüklenen kadının aksine erkek, gücün ve dayanıklılığın simgesi olarak görülür ve önemli işlerle görevlendirilir. Toplumun her alanında olduğu gibi kadınlar spor alanında da ikinci plana itilmektedir. Güç, rekabet, hırs ve çatışma konularıyla özdeşleştirilen spor alanı, erkekler kadar fiziksel güce sahip olmayan kadınları yok saymaktadır. Bu nedenlerden dolayı, spordaki kadın ve erkek eşitsizliği, bu çalışmanın odaklandığı temel noktadır. Spor basınının haber söylemi aracılığıyla yayılan erkek egemenliği konusu da bu çalışmanın üzerinde durduğu diğer bir önemli konudur. Bu bağlamda Türk spor basını, çalışmanın araştırma bölümü için seçilmiştir. Türk spor basının en önde gelen iki gazetesi, Fotomaç ve Fanatik gazetelerin 2013, 2014 ve 2015 yıllarındaki birer haftasına ait sayıları incelenip, cinsiyet ayrımcılığına yönelik bulgular araştırılmıştır. The system of social values attributes masculinity an exclusive position. The man considers deserving this privileged position because of handling hard works in society. Starting in the family, gender knowledge is learned in social relations. Media, as an instrument of delivering this gender knowledge, plays an important role in socialization process. The separation that determines the femininity or masculinity in accordance with social genders, are implemented in every field of society by social institutions. Paternal social system is the main reason causing the gender-based discrimination. In paternal societies, the woman exists with her traditional roles. In contrast to the women whose duties are raising children and cleaning the house, the man is symbolized with strength, and durability and assigned with vital duties. As in the most fields of the society, the women are inferior to the men. The sport that is symbolized with strength, competition, ambition and conflict takes the women as a second class because of their lack of physical strength. Therefore, the inequality between the man and the woman is the main point in this study. Also, male dominance, which is spread via news of sport media, is another important point on which this study focuses. For the research, Turkish sport press was chosen. Fotomaç and Fanatik are the two leading newspapers in Turkish sport press. So, The sport news in Fotomaç and Fanatik published in 2013, 2014 and 2015 will be examined just for a whole week time period in order to find out gender discrimination.

Toplum ve bireylerin hayatında her zaman var olmuş ve var olmaya devam edecek olan edebiyat ve edebi eserler, topluma özgü kültürel öğelerin anlatıldığı, ifade edildiği alanlardır. Bir edebi eser türü olarak romanlar, birçok açıdan toplumun ve o toplumdaki bireylerin özelliklerini yansıtmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye’deki farklı erkeklik ve kadınlık hallerini resmeden Zülfü Livaneli’nin mutluluk romanında yer alan karakterlerin, toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri açısından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bir nitel araştırma yöntemi olan kültürel analiz kapsamında söylem analizi yapılmıştır. Romanda, amcası tarafından tecavüze uğrayan Meryem’in “töre” anlayışından ötürü öldürülmesinin gerektiği ve yine bu anlayıştan ötürü bu görevin, Meryem’in amcasının oğlu olan Cemal’e uygun görülmesi anlatılmaktadır. Türkiye’de kadına yönelik cinsiyet ayrımcılığını resmeden, kadının namus abidesi ve erkeğin de namus bekçisi haline getirilişini anlatan romanda, toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin kadın ve erkek üzerinde nasıl baskı oluşturduğu yansıtılmaktadır. Bu çalışma sonucunda, romanın toplumsal cinsiyet konusuyla ilgili, özellikle Türkiye’de kadının konumu ve namus algısı ile ilgili derinlemesine bir kültürel görünüm sunduğu anlaşılmıştır. Çalışma ile Türkiye’de toplumsal cinsiyet ve toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri ele alınarak, başta bu konular ile ilgilenenler olmak üzere sosyal bilimlere ilgi duyanların, edebiyatseverlerin ve en genelde toplumun duyarlılığının artırılması amaçlanmıştır. Literature and literary, has always been and always will continue to be in the lives of individuals and community and it’s an area for expressing intensively about community specific cultural elements. Novel, in many ways reflects individual’s and society’s characteristics as a literary work. In this study, representative of different femininity and masculinity on Zülfü Livaneli’ s novel Bliss’ characters were aimed to investigate within the context of gender. In the novel, Meryem who was raped by her uncle, was claimed to ‘needs to be killed’ because of so-called honor and also due to this understanding, this task was found appropriate for Meryem’s uncle’s son, Cemal. The novel reflects the pressure on women and gender discrimination. In this novel women seems to be the symbol of honor and men seems to be responsible for this honor. Writer highlights the pressure on men and women caused by gender roles. In this study, gender and gender roles in Turkey were discussed and increasing awareness of gender and gender roles were aimed.

Son yıllarda zaman serisi tahmini için birçok alternatif yöntem önerilmiştir. Uyarlamalı ağa dayalı bulanık çıkarım sistemi (ANFIS) öngörü problemi için literatürde en çok uygulanan bulanık çıkarım sistemidir. Bu çalışmada tüketici fiyat endeksinin kestiriminde ANFIS’in performansı incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda ANFIS yöntemi ile ilgilenilen zaman aralığındaki tüketici fiyat endeksinin kestiriminde ulaşılan sonuçlar yorumlanmıştır. Alternative methods have been proposed for time series prediction in last years. Adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is the most used fuzzy inference system in literature for prediction problem. In this study, the performance of ANFIS in forecasting consumer price index is examined, and the results of the consumer price index estimation in time period, on which ANFIS method is applied, are interpreted.

Günümüzün en yaygın iletişim kanallarından biri olan sosyal medya, her gün milyonlarca insanı bir araya getirmektedir. Sosyal medya aracılığıyla, bir araya gelen “yabancılar”, yabancı kalarak (kimliğini deşifre etmeden) birbirlerine “ne”yi (hangi mesajı) iletir? Sosyal medya kullanımının insani ilişkiler üzerinde ne gibi bir etkisi var? Bu soruların yanıtını arayan çalışmanın, aynı zamanda sosyal medya çalışmalarına katkı sağlama amacı da bulunmaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışma için seçilen örneklem, facebook sitesinde yer alarak 2013 yılından günümüze dek aktif olarak kullanılan ve 3 Kasım 2014’te 15.094 takipçisi bulunan “Muğla İtiraf” isimli sayfadır. Çalışmada, belirtilen tarihler arasında, sayfada paylaşılan gönderiler incelenmiş ve paylaşım yoğunluklarına göre kategorileştirilmiştir. Buna göre en yoğun paylaşımlar, şikayet, beklenti ve deşifre odaklı olmuştur. Çalışmanın teorik çerçevesini ise Zygmunt Baumann’ın insani ilişkiler yaklaşımı ve Huizinga’nın oyun teorisi oluşturmuştur. Social media, one of the most widespread communication channels of today, brings together millions of people every day. What (which message) do the strangers who come together through social media convey to each other by remaining stranger (without revealing their identity)? What kind of impacts do social media usage have on people’s lives? The study seeks answers to this question and it aims to make contribution to social media studies. In this context the sample chosen for the study is the “Muğla Confessions” page which is active since 2013 on Facebook site and has 15.094 followers on the 3rd of November, 2014. In the paper the messages shared on the page between the given dates has been examined and categorised according to their sharing traffic. Accordingly the most frequent sharings are complaints, expectation and decipher. Theoretical framework of the study is provided by Zygmunt Baumann’s humane relations theory and Huizinga’s game theory.

Bu çalışmanın amacı Kocaeli-İzmit merkez atık geri dönüşüm fabrikalarında çalışanların iş doyumunun Minesota Doyum Ölçeği ile ölçülerek yaş, cinsiyet, medeni durum, eğitim düzeyi, toplam gelir, kıdem, çalışma saati, yöneticilik, iş seçimi, işe uygunluk, işe bağlılık, gece nöbeti, yöneticilik ve kişisel ihtiyaçların karşılanmasını içeren demografik değişkenlerle ne kadar yordandığını incelemektir. Çalışmaya, İzmit ilinde 2013 yılında kolay ulaşılabilir örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilmiş 150 işçi katılmıştır, ancak veri toplama araçları 67 kişiden geri alınabilmiştir. Katılımcılara, Demokratik Bilgi Toplama Formu ve Minnesota İş Doyum Ölçeği uygulanmış, verilerin analizi için frekans dağılımı ve tek yönlü varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, örnekleme girenlerin yaş, cinsiyet, medeni durum, eğitim düzeyi, toplam gelir, kıdem, çalışma saati ve yöneticilik boyutlarına ve bu boyutların genel ortalamasına göre anlamlı fark bulunamamış (P > 0,05) ancak statü, iş seçimi, iş uygunluğu, işe bağlılık, gece nöbeti, kişisel ihtiyaçların karşılanması boyutlarının genel ortalamasına göre anlamlı fark bulunmuştur (P < 0,05). Buna göre iş doyumu; işini koşullar gereği değil de kendi isteği ile seçenlerde, işinin kendisine uygun olduğunu, işine bağlı olduğunu düşünen ve gece nöbeti olmayan personelde daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Ayrıca yemek ve giyim gibi kişisel ihtiyaçları işyeri tarafından karşılanan personelin iş doyumu, karşılanmayanlara göre yüksektir. Statü değişkeninde ise, idari işlerde çalışan personelin (X=3,14) iş doyumları, idare ve teknik elemandan (X=3,99) daha düşük bulunmuştur. Yine yapılan Dunnett’s C testine göre işçiler (X=3,39) ile idari elemanların (X=3,14) iş doyumu, idari ve teknik personelden (X=3,99) daha düşük bulunmuştur. The purpose of this study is to measure work satisfaction of workers employed at waste recycling factories in Kocaeli-Izmit center by Minnesota Satisfaction Scale and to examine the extent to which it is predicted with demographic variables including age, gender, marital status, level of education, total income, rank, working hours, managership, selection of job, suitability for work, commitment to work, night duties, managership and meeting of personal needs. The study was attended by 150 workers chosen with easy access sampling method in Izmit province in 2013, but data collection tools were returned by 67 workers. Democratic information gathering form and Minnesota job satisfaction scale was applied to the participants and frequency distribution and unilateral variance analysis was applied for analysing the data. As a result of the conducted analysis, significant difference was not found (P > 0,05) as per the dimensions of age, gender, marital status, education level, total income, rank, working hours and managership of those in the sample but significant difference was found (P < 0,05) as per status, job selection, suitability for work, commitment to work, night duties, meeting personal needs. Accordingly, job satisfaction of those employees who choose their job not based on conditions but with their free will, who think that the job is suitable for them, those who think that they are committed o their job and those who have no night duties is found to be higher. In addition, the job satisfaction of personnel whose personal needs such as catering and clothing are met by the workplace is found to be higher compared to the otherwise. As regards statute variable, job satisfaction of workers employed at administrative works (X=3,14) is found to be lower than administrative and technical employees (X=3,99). According to the Dunnett’s C test, the job satisfaction of workers (X=3,39) and administrative staff X=3,14) is found to be lower than administrative and technical personnel (X=3,99 ).

Bu makale siyasal alanda şiddetin iki güncel formunu köken birliği içinde düşünmenin üzerinde duruyor: Güvenlik devleti ya da biyoiktidar gibi görünümler altında işleyen egemen iktidar formundaki şiddet biçimi ve uzlaşmaz/köktenci siyasi hareketler şeklinde siyasal alana kazınan şiddet biçimleri. Makale her iki şiddet biçimini birbirine bağlayan ortak bir temel olarak liberalizmin siyaset tasavvurunun sınırlarına dikkat çekiyor. Liberalizm siyasal toplumsal ihtilafları çoğulculuk ilkesi çerçevesinde ele aldığı; toplumsal-siyasal antagonizmanın gerektirdiği bir siyasal alan tasavvuru geliştiremediği ölçüde ya güvenlik devletine savruluyor ya da ihtilafa konu olan sorunları talileştirerek sürekli olarak erteleyen biçimsel bir demokrasi anlayışıyla yetiniyor. Bu durum, şiddet sorununun gölgesi altında düşünüldüğünde, liberal demokrasinin aslında siyasal bir demokrasi anlayışı açısından ontolojik sınırlara sahip olduğunu gösteriyor. This article points out the importance of considering the two current forms of violence in the political arena into a common base: violence in the form of sovereign power operating under security state or biopower practices and violence in the form of uncompromising/fundamentalist political movements scraped to the political arena. The article draws attention to the limited conception of politics in liberalism that causes two forms of violence. Liberalism is dealt with socio-political conflicts in the framework of the principle of pluralism. Therefore cannot develop a political conception of space required by the socio-political antagonism. As a result of this it either thrown to the security state or settles a conception of formal democracy that postpones permanently disputed problems. This case, considered under the shadow of violence, sheds light on the fact that liberal democracy has the ontological bounds especially considered in terms of of political democracy.

Bu çalışma Platon ve Aristoteles’in insan doğası ve toplum anlayışına odaklanmaktadır. Bu iki düşünürün insan doğasını ve toplumu nasıl açıkladıklarına değinip, onların siyaset teorilerindeki yönetim anlayışlarında insan doğası ve topluma dair çıkarımlarının yerinin ne olduğu tartışılmaktadır. Buna göre Platon ve Aristoteles insanların doğaları gereği belli özelliklere sahip olduğu anlayışında ortaklaşmaktadırlar. Aynı şekilde ikisi de insanların doğuştan getirmiş olduğu bazı yetenekler olduğuna ve bu yeteneklerin insanların almış oldukları eğitimle geliştirilmesi gerektiği fikrinde aynı noktada bulunmaktadırlar. Diğer taraftan iki düşünüründe toplumu gerekçelendirme biçimleri aynıdır. Hem Platon hem de Aristoteles, insanların kendilerine yeten bir varlık olmamalarından ve bir başkasına gereksinim duymalarından dolayı toplum içinde yaşamak zorunda olduklarını düşünür. Platon ve Aristoteles arasındaki farklılıklara bakılacak olursa; Aristoteles, Platon’un varsaydığı idealar dünyasından bahsetmez. Ayrıca her insanın kendi içinde onu en iyiyi gerçekleştirmeye götüren bir ereğinin olduğunu söyler. Böylece insanların bir araya getirip kurdukları devletin de iyi bir devlet olduğu fikrine ulaşır. Platon kendi düşünmüş olduğu devlet modelinde insanların mayalarına göre toplumda iş yapmaları ve eğitim almalarını düşünürken, Aristoteles, doğrudan bazı insanların doğuştan aklıyla her şeyi sezebilen bir varlık olduğu için yönetici, bazılarının ise doğuştan bedensel kuvvetlerinin olması nedeniyle yönetilen olması gerektiğini düşünür. This study focuses on the human nature and social understanding of Plato and Aristotle. The way how these two philosophers explain the human nature and society and the place of the interferences of human nation and society in their understanding of management in the political theories is discussed. Accordingly, Plato and Aristotle agree on the notion that people have certain characteristics inherently. Similarly, they defend the same point of view about people who are born with certain talents and about the necessity of developing these talents by education they receive. On the other hand, both philosophers has the same way of raising awareness in the society. Both Plato and Aristotle believe that it is hard to live in the society as people are not self-sufficient living-things and they always need others. Having a look at the differences between Plato and Aristotle, Aristotle does not talk about the world of ideas assumed by Plato. In addition, he says that every person has a goal inside to perform the best. Thus, he gets the idea that the state established by gathered people is a good state. Plato thinks that people should do work and receive education according to their background in the state model according to him, while Aristotle believes that some people should become administrators as they can directly predict everything with their innate intelligence and some people should become administrated as they have innate physical strength.
