La complejidad de los sistemas agropecuarios dadas sus múltiples interacciones de elementos bióticos y abióticos, hace que estudios integrales sean importantes para un mejor entendimiento y actuación frente a éstos. Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo estudiar la sostenibilidad de 8 sistemas ganaderos alto andinos. Se encontró en promedio carga animal de 0,5 UGG, producción de leche de 4 kg/vaca/día, intervalos de partos de 450 días y producciones de forraje de 2,45 t MS/ha con 14% PC y 60% FDN. En promedio para el bosque, el carbono orgánico del suelo fue de 33,72 t/ha y para los potreros de pastoreo de 25,29 t/ha, siendo significativa la diferencia (p≤0,05). No se encontró diferencias (p≥0,05) entre las densidades aparentes en el suelo de los bosques nativos (0,46g/cm3) y los potreros (0,5 g/cm3). Las cantidades de CO2 equivalente (CO2eq) producidas en promedio fueron de 76,12 t/predio (65,5 t CO2eq correspondientes a la producción de CH4 y 10,87 t CO2eq a la producción de N2O). El agua virtual requerida en promedio para los bovinos fue de 16.222,26 m3 para cubrir sus necesidades de alimento, bebida y servicios (10 años), y para producir un litro de leche requerían 1,78 m3. En el aspecto social los indicadores con menor calificación fueron servicios públicos y acceso a educación. En conclusión y sabiendo que la sostenibilidad se logra cuando hay un balance entre los componentes económico, ambiental y social; los resultados encontrados permiten afirmar que los sistemas productivos ganaderos de alta montaña incluidos en este trabajo no son sostenibles.

Se evaluó el efecto antagónico de las bacterias endófitas aisladas de porciones de hojas, tallos y raíces de plantas de arroz completamente sanas, contra la bacteria patogénica Burkholderia glumae (Kurita & Tabei, 1967), agente causal de la enfermedad del añublo bacterial de la panícula. Se obtuvieron 24 aislamientos en total de bacterias endófitas que fueron evaluadas mediante la técnica de enfrentamiento de cultivos duales, en condiciones de laboratorio, posteriormente se realizaron las inoculaciones de la solución bacteriana en condiciones de campo para evaluar el efecto antagónico. Los resultados obtenidos indican que sólo dos cepas bacterianas presentaron actividad antagónica contra B. glumae las cuales fueron identificadas mediante caracterización bioquímica, de los bioensayos realizados a nivel de laboratorio y en campo. Por tanto, hubo una mejor expresión de las bacterias antagónicas bajo condiciones controladas en el laboratorio comparado con los ensayos realizados en campo.

Ulex europaeus es una planta de origen mediterráneo, introducida en Colombia como cerca viva que ha adquirido gran importancia debido a su carácter invasor principalmente en las zonas de alta montaña. El conocimiento de su biología es una herramienta fundamental para la implementación de medidas de manejo que permitan su control y minimicen su impacto sobre los ecosistemas. El estudio de las moléculas y principios activos podría generar información valiosa a este respecto. La investigación reporta algunos ácidos grasos y compuestos fenólicos conseguidos de la extracción oleosa de las semillas e identificados por cromatografía de gases acoplada a espectrometría de masas. Dentro de los resultados destaca la presencia de ácido linoleico y también la presencia de tocoferoles que podrían ser útiles para aplicaciones alimentarias e industriales. Se concluye que la especie podría ser utilizada con fines industriales.

Las epifitas son plantas que crecen principalmente adheridas a los troncos y ramas de árboles y arbustos. En la presente investigación se realizó el inventario de epífitas vasculares -orquídeas y bromelias- y sus hospederos, los cuales fueron caracterizados según su clasificación taxonómica; analizando también, el impacto sobre el componente de vegetación. Según los resultados, en las cuatro unidades de vegetación, se registraron 62 géneros, 308 especies epifitas y 15.520 individuos de epífitas. En relación con los forófitos se identificaron en total 266 especies de hospederos y 3.040 individuos arbóreos forófitos. En la familia Orchidaceae se identificaron 264 especies y 14.083 individuos; en la familia Bromeliaceae se identificaron 44 especies, agrupadas en 1.437 individuos. En el componente de vegetación el impacto fue negativo, sobre la vegetación arbórea u hospederos, ya que estos individuos serán talados, no obstante la vegetación epífita de orquídeas y bromelias serán trasladadas y monitoreadas, garantizando su sobrevivencia, caso que generará impacto positivo sobre este grupo de especies vegetales.

En la presente investigación se buscó el desarrollo de un producto alimenticio tipo compota utilizando como espesante el almidón del fríjol Zaragoza; para ello se procedió con obtención del almidón, análisis fisicoquímico del almidón, obtención de la pulpa, formulación y elaboración de la compota, análisis fisicoquímico, microbiológico y análisis sensorial de la compota. Dentro de los resultados se tiene que la compota elaborada demuestra ser un producto que puede ser aceptado para consumo infantil, ya que presenta todos los parámetros de calidad y cumple toda la normatividad vigente. Se concluye que el comportamiento del almidón de este fríjol en el producto terminado permite que éste pueda ser incluido dentro de los espesantes utilizados en alimentos que requieran elevadas temperaturas de procesamiento.

En Colombia, el Departamento Nacional de Planeación proyectó para el 2018, el 20% en aprovechamiento de residuos que van a los rellenos e incentivar el reciclaje, sin embargo no ha logrado superar el 17%, por lo tanto es prioritario incluir mecanismos de articulación del componente productivo y de investigación científica y tecnológica. En este artículo se relacionan importantes fuentes de residuos agroindustriales en Colombia, presentando algunas alternativas de subproductos en las que se aprovechan sus características y propiedades para obtener materiales que pueden ser utilizados en otros procesos como la industria de la construcción, biocombustibles, productos farmacéuticos, cosméticos y nutricionales; es el caso del glicerol, residuos de papa y café tanto de cultivo como procesados, arroz y caña de azúcar en el grupo de las gramíneas, y residuos de frutas y verduras. Se concluye que Colombia debe implementar el desarrollo de diversos procesos y/o productos que sean competitivos y cumplan con las respectivas normas de calidad para incursionar en los mercados del mundo.

Las aplicaciones pedagógicas tradicionales se fundamentan en el desarrollo de la clase con marcador y tablero, y con leves avances en el manejo de diapositivas; sin embargo, las tecnologías digitales presentan una serie de novedades que complementan el trabajo de la enseñanza con aprendizaje autónomo, que puede desarrollar el educando en áreas agrarias y ambientales. El desarrollo de material didáctico multimedia MDM complementa las actividades curriculares de los cursos, particularmente, los que tienen laboratorio, y por otro lado, generan en el estudiante habilidades para el aprendizaje autónomo. Se desarrolló un MDM para el aprendizaje de las prácticas realizadas en el laboratorio de cultivos vegetales, con arquitectura cliente/ servidor, usando tecnologías actuales en el desarrollo de software, con características de tiempo real y bajo el paradigma de desarrollo de aplicaciones isomórficas. Con base al MDM, se realizó evaluación cualitativa por parte de estudiantes de Licenciatura en Producción Agropecuaria, la cual reporto un 86% de aprobación del material. Se encontró que las herramientas digitales para el aprendizaje, facilitan y mejoran en cierta medida el aprendizaje de los educandos. El uso de tecnologías nuevas como React, permite mejorar el renderizado de las páginas y optimiza la carga del servidor en las peticiones necesarias por parte del aprendiz, y hace más eficiente el engranaje de enseñanza-aprendizaje. De esta manera, el MDM permitirá fundamentar el desarrollo de habilidades y destrezas en la producción agraria y en el manejo de especies de ecosistemas con ambientes naturales.

Se investigó el uso de plantas medicinales entre los habitantes de Sogamoso, población agraria en el departamento de Boyacá, Colombia, donde campesinos en sus huertos y paisajes de zona andina y páramo preservan y usan una alta diversidad de plantas, manteniendo una cultura de saberes tradicionales, para el tratamiento de enfermedades humanas o de uso etno-veterinario; aprovechando así los beneficios que conlleva la conservación, para preservar y utilizar especies registradas. La metodología desarrollada fue una investigación de acción participativa, donde se realizaron encuestas de tipo específico a 100 personas, quienes expresaron tener un uso de las plantas medicinales. Se incluyó la caracterización ecológica de la zona elegida, comprendiendo las microcuencas de río Monquirá y río Cusiana, donde los recursos in-situ fueron inventariados con la comunidad, recopilándose fotografías, usos de las plantas nativas, exóticas o cultivadas en huertos. Como resultado se obtuvo la descripción a nivel botánico, ecológico, climático, así como las prácticas para la conservación o siembra, inventariándose más de 178 especies, en 55 familias con sus respectivos usos medicinales y formas de preparación, incluyendo la categorización de plantas frías, calientes, de aplicaciones externas o de elaboración de productos. Se recopilo el saber popular y se rescató el uso tradicional de plantas medicinales nativas que poseen los mayores o abuelos y que es transmitido de generación en generación.

Epiphytes are plants that grow mainly attached to trunks, branches of trees and shrubs. This research was conducted in the municipality of Aguazul, Casanare, Colombia, in order to evaluate conservation strategies through the transfer and recovery of vascular epiphytes. The selected population was 119 individuals. The variables were number of leaves, number of flowers, number of fruits, mortality rate, herbivory and associated entomofauna. The information collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics. As a result, it was found that the Bromeliaceae Family had the highest leaf development in the three monitorings. Bromeliaceae and Cactaceae Families did not present flowering and Orchidaceae presented low flowering. Fruiting had a similar behavior for these three families. Cactaceae Family did not present mortality, Orchidaceae recorded 2.02% and Bromeliaceae Family recorded 5.56% of mortality. As for herbivory, the orchid family filed a percentage of 0.06%; the Bromeliaceae Family reported 0.11%, while the cactus family did not record any kind. The entomofauna was found mainly in the Formicidae group for the three families, being the Cactaceae Family the one with a greater association, with 100%. According to the results, it is possible to move the vascular epiphytic species to new habitats,which makes it a viable alternative for revegetation of the affected area with conservation purposes.

The productive orientation is understood as characteristics based on history and social and cultural settings which are distinguished in a regional context. In recent decades, by structural in the agricultural sector reforms and external interventions of the development processes, some regions have modified their productive orientation. The aim of this article is to show the trends of change in animal production of the chickpea, Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico, community in order to help understand the productive dynamics and the influence of outside intervention in the local context. To identify changes in animal production were two cross-sectional studies, in 2012 and 2015. The animal population censuses were conducted in both studies and were guides for dialogue and participant observation, which addressed issues such as: genetics, reproduction, feeding, management, health and socio-economic aspects of the families. The results showed that in this period of time the population of goats was reduced by 28%, this trend was also observed in the number of horses and donkeys. Otherwise occurred with the population of pigs and cattle, which increased to 400% and 90%, respectively. Due to the processes of intervention, villagers have changed certain habits in relation to animal health and preventive medicine. The reasons for these changes are related to the structure and the age of the members of the family, which influences have a species less or more productive and marketable.

Avocado (Persea americana Miller) is one of the most consumed fruits in the world. Mexico is the main producer of avocado and currently Mexico faces problems such as the attack of pathogens to the root and recently there have been impacts to human health by the use of agrochemicals. An alternative to deal with problems in the development of plants has been to start the correct management of the first stages of production and with that to mitigate later problems, in this management microorganisms play a fundamental role. The inoculation with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) is an important method. Several studies have shown that the root colonization in plants help to the absorption of water and nutrients. It indicates that the AMF can contribute to the sustainable management of crops as an option to strengthen production. Although Colombia is the top 5 of productivity in the world level, local competitiveness is the cost of agro-inputs. To the other hand, the research aiming to bioprospection of AMF specific for avocado varieties in Colombian regions, is necessary and could be strengthened this field because of it is little know currently about advances in this theme and its influence on the strengthening of Colombian agriculture. Advancing in the crop management and generating sustainable strategies are the perspectives and challenges for the chain of avocado in Colombia. Indeed, it is a priority to get in at the dynamics of global demands preferring healthier food and friendly production to the environment

Rural community tourism is presented as a recipe for marginalized communities, inhabitants of sites rich in natural and cultural resources that deserve to be known by national and foreign visitors, without taking into account the constituent elements of this type of tourism, which requires the commitment of all the institutional actors, economic, environmental and social - so that this exercise will become a real alternative and not in dispossession of the natural goods by companies of capital that is appropriate for the management of the resources or in a cause of environmental degradation. In this article is a review of the various investigations into the rural community tourism as a contribution to the knowledge of relevant aspects to make this an opportunity to empower communities, promote their enterprises around the tourism experiential and improve the processes of conservation of natural resources.

DDT and other organochlorine pesticides has been used extensively in Colombia between the years 1970 and 1980 in cotton fields. DDT is resistant to degradation and strongly linked with numerous health problems and its use is currently forbidden. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the biodegradation of DDT, DDD and DDE, products present in the soil contaminated during 16 years in contaminated soil at Agustin Codazzi, Cesar, Colombia. Biostimulation, bioaumentacion, and a control under anaerobic and aerobic conditions sequential treatment were carried out. The process of anaerobic biodegradation lasted 8 weeks and was consecutively held the aerobic process for 20 weeks. In the process of biostimulation added phosphorus to optimize the ratio C:N:P in the treated soil. From native bacteria were isolated bacterial strains with the ability biodegradadora of DDT and were identified using morphological characteristics and expansion by PCR of the region of 1465 pb of the gene 16S ribosomal and sequencing. Of these we selected four bacterial strains for the process of bioaumentacion: Burkholderia cepacia, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Aeromona caviae, and Bacillus SP., which were bioaugmented in laboratory and inoculated into the soil treated in concentration of 108 cfu/ml. The concentration of DDT, DDD and DDE was determined by gas chromatography. The best results were obtained during anaerobic achieving a removal of DDT, DDD and DDE 56.2% 17.1% and 44.5% respectively.

This article details the toxic effects of paracetamol in human health and the environment, detailing the General characteristics of the APAP acetaminophen. The metabolism of the APAP and potential factors influencing their toxicity, through studies of toxicity and environmental fate. Paracetamol is a commonly used analgesic, presents high water solubility, eliminating up to 90% by gluconacion or sulfacion; but its metabolite n-acetyl - for-benzoilquinoneimina sometimes is expelled through faeces and urine, becoming a compound toxic persistent. Chronic effects are seen mainly in aquatic organisms, through exposure to different concentrations of APAP for an extended period of time.

The supply of electricity in the municipality of Arbelaez, Cundinamarca, Colombia, has frequent interruptions, in addition to considerable voltage fluctuations, reducing reliability and user comfort. Colombia boasts a privileged location with relatively constant sunlight throughout the year, allowing the implementation of photovoltaic systems to generate electricity as a valid response to the problems presented by the low quality of network electricity supply. PV systems can generate electric power quality, without deviations ofconsiderable stress, avoiding discomfort on the user, poor operation of equipment, energy losses and economic losses due to spoilage exposed for long periods to low quality power PCs. Implements a PV system that will generate energy for optimal quality and constant for a rest house. The installed system is programmed to work is a hybrid, energy from the solar cells is the main source of energy to feed the demand, if it is required and the battery bank achieves a 50% discharge, electrical network would go to work as a backup system. The current generation of the system is 19. 75kWh day, this represents a total reduction from December 2015 to August 2016 982 kg CO2eq, with an emission factor of 0. 18259kgCO2eq per each purchased kWh of the network in the area. Each kg CO2eq not emitted to the atmosphere, is a kg that will not contribute to the increase in global warming, contributing to sustainability

The research was conducted in the municipality of Valparaiso, Caquetá, Colombia, where it is established the plantation of coffee variety Caturra and variety Castle with features special type Amazon by their physical properties and organoleptic characteristics. In the municipality of Valparaiso there are no records on coffee crops because it is located in a marginal zone for the cultivation according to Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia Fedecafé. According to the producers in the past were established small coffee crop for home consumption, getting a drink of taste and exquisite aroma from grain, with physical and chemical characteristics of a special coffee; but these plantations have not made any follow-up to assess the growth, development and quality of the product. In view of the foregoing, it was analyzed morphological characteristics of two varieties of coffee and the organoleptic and physical properties of coffee produced in the farm El Playon, vereda San Pedro Bocana in the municipality of Valparaiso. Were found few morphological differences between the individuals cultivated in the study area and other areas cultivators of the country; likewise, by the characteristics of cup studied it was concluded that in the area there is a coffee with special quality type Amazon agreement with Fedecafé.

The electrification with solar PV isolation is the most viable option for rural housing, especially if it is very distant from the national interconnected system. Hato Corozal, Casanare, Colombia, is a municipality structured in its rural area by farms very far away from each other. Its major drawback of social and economic development is the lack of electricity as a service of first necessity. Casanare governorate through the royalties national fund approved the installation of 206 solar photovoltaic systems (SFV) from families farthest and most vulnerable of the municipality. The main objective of this research was to conduct a socio-economic evaluation of the families in the rural area of the municipality, benefited with the installation of these systems SFV. In addition, a technical analysis of simulation of the operation of the SFV dimensioned 2 days without Sun and then 12 days with Sun, also did a simulation of the operation of the SFV dimensioned with 14 days with Sun. This research was addressed from the descriptive methodological approach and applied field research which included visits to homes, application, analysis instruments and photographic record. The results have great incidence from a social, economic and environmental approach that can be implemented in other rural areas of the country as an example of the use of clean technologies in favor of sustainable rural development.
