The proposed text aims to carry out the ethnography of Espirito da floresta project activities. The project is situated in Grado indígena of Federal de Acre University, Campus Floresta, department of Acre, Brasil and MAHKU - Movimiento dos Artistas Huni Kuin. The researchers of huni-kuin chants and rituals are organizing themselves ever since they started using visual arts to translate their vast imaginary universe expressed in their verbal arts through music. We understand that the activities carried out as an alternative way of learning in relationship to school and the academic space, when exploring the universe of western arts to produce knowledge, could contribute to the impasses of experiences in indigenous education, both in Brazil and in other Latin-American countries.

The article presents a dependent relationship between the author’s artistic work and his culture, noting that it is impossible to understand a work of art without taking into consideration the cultural variable. Therefore, only an approach to the author, based on interviews and an ethnographic methodology, has allowed us to analyze and comprehend the artist’s production. He is not recognized as such, but as part of an ethno-Amazonian artisan group. At the same time, important ideas such as Homi Bhabha’s would have to consider culture and be rethought before they can be applied or adapted to private and alien matters: the case of indigenous painting. The result is a different and postmodern interpretation of the piece “El Búho” by the Amazonian-Peruvian painter Guímer García, which shows the work of art in complex and original cultural terms that could allow an important revaluation and reconsideration to the artist.

This article examines how paradigms are initiated based on the process of academic restructuration of 2009, which during the Art and Education Seminar (CAC, 2012), evidence and divulge student opinion about multiple difficulties on universities’ academic programs, their limitations, and professionalization processes. And so it is that the initiative takes place: Nomadic University created and developed by students. Also, the article explains the methodologies, academic stances, networks, topics, contents, and activation of processes, in order to generate receptiveness in areas that lack attention from formal education institutions, and to discuss about the access to education. Social complex and the visibility of common and dissimilar places which challenge the idea of culture in general is analyzed through a theoretical and practical dynamic network comprised by multiple micro cultures, spaces, processes, and individuals outside academia.

The present article considers assessment of creative processes and proposes generic grading parameters with diverse criteria that could contribute to the process of grading in areas and subjects where creativity is present. The research identifies evaluation tools used in the different courses offered by the Visual Arts Program and the Design and Visual Communication Program of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, where according to students, there is an increased use of creativity. The study also examines how evaluation influences student motivation and a significant teaching-learning process. It seeks a contribution to teaching practices of university professors who accompany this type of processes and intends to provide guidance to educators on their evaluation processes.

Locally as well as internationally, the intersection between art and education has become a central topic in the current cultural debate. This text seeks to chart recent intersections between art and education in the Ecuadorian context, emphasizing in the sphere of the visual arts, to focus on contemporary art practices which develop in social contexts where art’s and education’s political dimension is being currently updating.
