During this interview with the artist Luis Camnitzer conducted by Paulina León, curator of 3EIATE, they discuss and exemplify the epistemic turn proposed by Camnitzer. In this turn, art switches from being a field of object production (linked to the market) to a pedagogical instrument for the generation of knowledge. Thereby art works as a means to pose problems and to establish new and horizontal forms of relations between artists and the public, and therefore defying the established order.

A modernity more than ever questioned seems to be unable to respond to the disproportionate "evolution" of nameless contemporaneity; becoming more and more necessary its revision and appearing Metamodernity as an apparent transition to a new moment of thought. But how does a new philosophy adapt to Latin America, knowing that its leap into modernity continues to be unfinished, coupled with a complicated socio-economic and political landscape? After reviewing different forms of contemporary Latin American architecture we find the case study: the Collective Project of the venezuelan Miguel Braceli, who after a complex and complete repertoire of interventions is cataloged as a metamodern response in the middle of the tropics, rethinking the relationship between art and Architecture highlighting the processes of group creation, in order to reflect on the importance of social.

Based on the arguments of Néstor García Canclini in Hybrid Cultures (1990) and "Recent News on Hybridization" (2000), and Juan Martín Prada in his postmodern appropriation (2001), this article deals with the work Apolinére enameled (from) Álvaro Barrios (1979-1980), by Colombian artist Álvaro Barrios Vásquez (Cartagena de Indias, October 27, 1945), version of the ready-made assisted Apolinére enameled that was realized by Marcel Duchamp between 1917 and 1918. It tries to distensionar certain binaries As popular / cult and local / global, from processes of mutual assimilation, interrelation and pollution and cultural hybridization, to break and relativize concepts such as historical linearity, autochthonous, pure, authentic, identity, and Of course, the original.

In the age of digital cameras, social networks, big data and self-representation: What is the role of the museum as a custodian of memory? This article looks into the intersections and dialogs between the museum and digital media, as managers and mediums of social memory. It will approach the challenges of incorporating new technologies in exhibitions and as educational tools, focusing on processes of collective creation of meaning. It will review tendencies in the virtual museum and constraints regarding the opening of collections. Finally, it will discuss the museum's challenges as mediator in processes of co-curation and co-production of content with communities.

Searching for the voice of the place. After the vertigo felt by diving in a city, the D.F. Mexico that has all Ecuador within it, I emerged with a gathering in Tepito. A neighborhood rarely visited by visitors, a neighborhood that incarnates the Mexican and chilanga identity of “accumulation”. This is an irresponsible and nonnecesary photo compilation, because it does not have a social end nor a demonstration, but it seeks purely pleasure and aesthetic will. Nevertheless with a strong political stand, this photography does not seek to be documental although they document life in Tepito, by not showing life by itself, and based on its memory it exposes its tight existence.

Latin American Art eory and Criticism have in Juan Acha (1916-1995) one of the most proli c and in uential intellectuals of the second half of the 20th century. His conceptual proposal, broad editorial production, as well as his professional action for Contemporary Art and the renewal of the artistic languages are some of the features that make his work a founding legacy for Latin American Art. In this article we present a brief panorama of some of the vital and professional moments of this intellectual. We propose an approach to his biography and intellectual production, which can be read as a transit through the life of this author and also of recent Latin American Art History. We do this in the context of the centenary of his birth: a way to pay tribute to him and bring his work to other generations of Latin American researchers.

Department of Graphic Research and Militancy of the GRSB Movement (2014), works on the history of the political graph. is journey begins with the "National Campaign for the Awareness of Progress" in 2014 and then I start to work on other projects, among these is: "Cerrenismo en el Ecuador". is project works on the life of Eusebio Macías Suárez, founder of the C. R. N. Movement (National Claiming Crusade) and its political campaign in 1956. is project is the simulation of Eusebio's interventions in the public highway. Another project called Reactivación, Repotenciación y Revitalización de Asociaciones Obreras is a project that takes aesthetics of workers' manifestation of the 50's as if they had not stopped producing, assimilating an aesthetic, producing it and reinserting it into the urban landscape, where the Workers' manifestation.

This paper talks about two online projects in Ecuador. The departure point is the work of collective Experimentos Culturales (2001- 2009), then recounts the diverse practices undertaken by La Selecta - Cooperativa Cultural between 2009 to 2013. It approaches to the process that determined the consolidation of Experimentos Culturales project, also relates his emergence in the context of an economic crisis at beginnings of the 2000 decade, this project can be seen like a multidisciplinary response that proposes the construction of independent platforms to the visibilization of the thinking and the contemporary art in a precarious for the arts. The second part of the paper concentrates in some practices of La Selecta - Cooperativa Cultural, this collective conformed with some members of Experimentos Culturales, continues with some of the work lines and also rethinks its practices.

This text talks about "Cuarto Aparte: Autonomous Platform of Art and Culture" activated since 2009 as a collective and collaborative proposal, an alternative event to the International Biennial of Cuenca, Ecuador. This platform has been, from that year to date, articulating and articulating individualities and collectives of the multiple local and national scenes, we seek to make visible, reflect and debate on works, projects and agendas beyond events and institutional scenes, within a cultural, artistic, Political and social of which both autonomous, collective, codependent and institutions we are part and we affect and we relate of different and diverse ways. From the place of general coordinator of the platform I make a chronological review of the same, including its development of contents through Stripes as well as its principles and policies. I also reflect on the notion of autonomy and processes of self-evocation, self-management and self-sustainability in art and culture, with a focus on the national context.

This essay has the proposition to investigate as its objective the work of Raimund Abraham entitled “Hinge-Chair” 1970/71. The intention to study said work has a double aspiration, the first is to render a personal and posthumous homage to whom in life was my professor of dissertation. The second proposal is to uncover the motives both conscious and unconscious of the work from di erent points of view such as philosophical deconstruction and Jungian psychoanalysis. e present essay o ers an assessment of a work of art pertaining to the neo- avant-garde from the decades of the 60 ́s and 70 ́s and to establish its debt with the historical avant-garde of the 20th century.

This article looks into the notion of digital traces to explore the fear of death and the desires of transcendence we project on new technologies. We will review artistic practices that exemplify different approaches to the relation body-technology, as embodiment or disembodiment. By focusing on the artwork Marilyn by Philippe Parreno we will identify the ghost and the elements of spectral representation, to further inquire into the wishes bestowed on us through the memories and footprints we leave in cyberspace.

Through the analysis of three of his works, corresponding to three different stages of his artistic life, it is pretended to examine the way in which Argentinian artist Xul Solar invigorated art spaces to unite them and work in an intersection, specially between poetry/language and plastic art. Activation of the word is seen and considered in a pictorial space, but also the way these words and these images sought to be a correlate of the artist’s deepest interests.

The following research is presented as a case study in the ludoteca “La Tardor” with children from middle childhood (6 - 12 years). My desire to explore and learn more about the genre, lead me to take a guided activity where the drawing is used as an educational device, for the research collaborators to have the opportunity to think as individuals. e drawings reveal features that expose the way in which children have built their identity around gender, visual culture and social environment.

Generate knowledge, is not only a common practice of science, art with its construction, has been contributing to sustainable development and sensible ideas of human beings. Art and science have led knowledge from di erent spaces, establishing spaces for dialogue, and others indi erent, with long separations, creating boundaries that away from one another. At present, they are separated without prior knowledge when initially out of a same matrix: techné. If their practices were highly related, why today these same practices exclude them, they separate them and place them in opposite positions. is text presents the adverse conditions that have faced and coincidences that are as antagonists within the same story.

In this sense, first are approached the roots of this thought within the hesychast Slavic literary and philosophical-religious tradition. Second, is performed an analysis of his philosophical-religious and aesthetic conceptions, his thought from the theological, ontological and anthropological point of view, as well as his definitions of art and cinema.

This series is made up of fragments of a larger work called Migration in which I conducted an investigation into the lives of ve migrant women who lived in Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa during the years 2014 and 2015, we all had 29 years and came to Stellenbosch under di erent circumstances. Our constant encounters partially revealed the stories of their lives through conversations and interviews. At the site of each of our meetings I made portraits, taking into account the areas where they wanted to be photographed, likewise, their life stories led me to a number of places and spaces that I also photographed. This way we got together a photographic story that talks about the collective space of a region such as Stellenbosch, Cape Town, as well as spaces and intimate moments in their lives. In this photographic essay, you can read these stories randomly without losing sense, giving it a double sense that enriches the narrative; paragraphs of di erent life stories are interwoven with images achieving a single story.

The present text constitutes a reflection on the Portuguese artist Daniel Blaufuks’ exhibition Toda a Memória do Mundo, parte um. This critique revises some of the resources he used to build his pieces, which use archival photographs and images of the Nazi concentration camp in the Czech city of Terezín. This was the only site visited by the International Red Cross in 1944; this is the reason why it was prettied up by the Nazis to make it appear as a pacific place, hiding the harsh reality of these prisons. The text also explores the different subtexts used by Daniel Blaufuks in the construction of his works; the texts include stories by W. G. Sebald and Georges Perec, both about the Holocaust. Lastly, it is considered how Blaufuks’ proposal can trigger different reflections regarding various contexts with diverse characteristics.

From multiple sources, studies and practices, I propose a concept, production/realization dynamic, and laboratory called “Cartografías Contextuales,” in which, participants individually revisit places that have been important in their lives to re-signify those experiences and give them other forms through creativity, aesthetics and, poetics. This first possibility also seeks to contribute to the psico-emotional aspect of the partakers. A second option in the general proposal considers the relationship between specific places in the city and social issues in a critical and proactive sense in order to develop products that are visible to the public intending awareness and solutions to these issues in the context of the city and even in a broaden dimension.

This article proposes a historical approach on higher education in the visual arts during the nighties in order to analyze stances and debates about contemporary art in the field of education. During the nineties, a discourse emerged about the contemporary in contrast with modern endeavors that articulated artistic practices and institutional standpoints. Thus, during this decade, higher education in arts expressed the tensions in the field: between training based on craftsmanship and the young artists’ demand to access contemporary theories and references.

Taking as a central focus the published series Viaje al círculo de fuego in the book Los soles de Mussfeldt (Quito, 2014), this article is the result of approaching Peter Mussfeldt´s experience between Ecuador and Germany articulated in relationship to de idea of the sun. The concept of in-between space is the core topic through which the symbolic meaning of the sun in the artist´s cultural and personal junction is addressed. The series, as a corpus, encloses at the same time the sense of process between the different variables and the experimentations to interpret experience.
