The article analyzes the main information collision of historical knowledge, which consists in physical inaccessibility of events and phenomena of the past as an object of historical science for a historian as an investigator. The aim of the research is to formulate and discuss a working hypothesis about the information field of historical science. The article provides an analytical background on the main ideas and approaches in the field of modern information field theory. The author carries out the projection of the main provisions of the information field theory on historical research. It is shown that the information field is a really existing information carrier that provides its acquisition, transportation, storage and visualization, as well as provides information and knowledge recorded in various forms, realizes cultural communications. One of the manifestations of such a culture is the sign systems, which determine certain contexts. Signs are characterized by polysemy. Despite artificial origin, semiotic reality is objective. Simultaneously, signs provide intellectual activity of people. Mental signs in the historical process of use by society acquire additional meanings, generating new symbols. Polysemy shapes the problem of epistemological uncertainty of two stages – identifying the problem and solving it. Historians as researchers resort to cognitive models, which, thanks to the translational function, ensure the transfer of information from the known to the unknown. One of the explanations of polysemy is the theory of conceptual integration, according to which the structures of the original mental spaces are projected onto a new, constructed, mental space – blend. This is the result of a person's intellectual ability to create new meanings on the basis of the available ones. Since signs and symbols are multi-valued, they form a multiplicity of retrospective scenarios of historical research at the stage of problem formulation. At the stage of its solution, the historian interacts actively with the information field, which consists in verifying empirical data of available scientific hypotheses. At this stage, the historian conducts heuristic, axiological and selection work, which results in the authorʼs version of the historiography.

Bohorodyts'ka and Starosamars'ka hundred (sotnya)is an unique Cossack formations. They existed in a territorial isolation from the Hetmanate and Slobozhanshchyna, on the lands of the Zaporozhian Sich. The study of these formations will better understand the policy of the Russian government in relation to the Sich, to find out the methods by which the state authorities planned to put Zaporizhzhya Cossacks under their control. We do not know when the Bohorodyts'ka hundred (sotnya) arose. Now the first mention in the documents dates back to 1700. The Russian government planned to create a Cossack regiment (polk) here, but in reality was founded a Cossack hundred (sotnya). Ivan Mazepa, as an autonomous ruler, wanted to include this formation in the structure of Hetmanate, but a hundred (sotnya) was subject to the authority of a representative of the Russian administration – the Kiev governor. The hundreds (sotnya) were liquidated as a result of Russia's defeat in the war with Turkey and the signing of the Prut peace in 1711. We do not know when the Cossack hundred (sotnya) was restored under the name Starosamars'ka. This happened in the late 1730s – early 1740s. In 1744, the Starosamarsʼka hundreds became part of the Poltava regiment (polk) of the Hetmanate. The administrative apparatus of the hundreds was predominantly similar to other hundreds of Hetmanates, but the real power of the Cossack officers was a bit lower here. During the existence of the Starosamars'ka hundreds, such a body of self-government was preserved as a council (rada) that was not typical for the Hetmanate in this period. This was due to the fact that the peoples could easily escape from their power and move to neighboring settlements and recognize the jurisdiction of the Zaporozhska Sich. The population of hundreds and officers consisted mainly of immigrants from the left bank of the Dnieper, to a lesser extent – from immigrants from the right bank. Summing up, I note that the Bohorodyts'ka and Starosamars'ka hundred (sotnya) appeared as instruments of control of the Russian government over the colonization of Zaporizhye cossacklands. The Bohorodyts'ka hundred (sotnya), as far as we can judge, was under the direct authority of the Kiev governor. Starosamars'ka hundred (sotnya) became part of the Hetmanate. This is due to the fact that in the 1740s the Russian government was already convinced of the reliable control over the Hetmanate, although at the end of the 17th century there was no such control. Zaporizhska Sich fought both with legal and violent methods with this hundred (sotnya), which was located on the lands of the Zaporozhian Cossacks. The Starosamars'ka hundred (sotnya) ceased to exist in October 1761, when its territory entered the jurisdiction of the Zaporozhzhya Sich.

The author has identified the causes of crime VUChK staff of 1919−1922. In the 1919−1922 most crimes of VUChK staff were made for profit. Officials crimes were committed because of the low level of the material condition of staff VUChK. Excess of official powers be explained by the lack of regulatory framework, low professional and cultural level VUChK staff. The author believes that in this period of great importance was the factor of "revolutionary euphoria" that would justify the use of any means "in the name of ideals of the revolution". In some cases, there have been psychic pathologies of professionals. Another cause of the majority of official crimes was the excessive use of alcoholic drinks. The fight against crime VUChK staff was not always successful. But the fight against crime officers always been a systematic character and did not allowed this social evils to transformed into a global problem. Often the effectiveness of the fight against crimes VUChK staff has been reduced because of factors such as too lenient sentences and connivance, particularly in cases of unscrupulous performance of official duties.

Start of the campaign for the rescue of the Jews by the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky in August 1942 is studied in the article. The author begins with an analysis of the August campaign in 1942 as a massive Holocaust of Lvivʼs Jewish community. He focuses on the fact that a foreboding of imminent catastrophe felt by some Jews led them, in despair, to address the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. A visit of Rabbis Dawid Kahane and Kalman Chameides started the campaign for the rescue of Jewish children from Lviv Ghetto. Active rescue efforts regarding adult Jews were made during the August operation. Some sources allow us to assert that sheltering the Jews in cellars of St. Georgeʼs Cathedral architectural complex was not a one-time act of commitment but an ongoing rescue operation under conditions of growing genocide. Events that took place in August 1942 became the turning point for Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky and Lviv Jews and their relationship, since they started the process of rescuing people deprived of the right to live by the Nazis. This rescuing campaign developed during the following months of autumn 1942.

The article describes life and professional activity of Yakov Rubin, Soviet historian and pedagogue, specialist in medieval history. Special attention is given to the description of the university museum, created by Rubin in Dnipropetrovsk university in the end of 1940 – at the beginning of 1950s. Rubin is a vivid example of the intellectual of Jewish original, who started a successful pedagogical and scientific carrier in early Soviet times. He was born in Dolginovo (Vilens'ka gubernia), raised in traditional Jewish familyand presumably studied in yeshivah, but after 1917 radically casted aside the life of shtetl. He finished Kharkiv teaching seminary, and later the Minsk university, and gained the diploma of the historian. In the end of 1920s Rubin became the active participant of the korenizatsiaya campaign in Belarussian Soviet Republic, writing numerous textbooks in Yiddish for Jewish schools. He also became of research worker of the Jewish sector in Belarus Academy of sciences. The majority of his works then were devoted to the history of class struggle and promotion of antireligious propaganda. After korenizatsiya was stopped, Ya. Rubin, alongside with many other his colleagues, was criticized for "nationalistic distortions". He was forced to leave his position, though managed to avoid direct repressions and continued scientific carrier as museum worker and lecturer. In 1944 Ya. Rubin, after evacuation from occupied Belarus, arrived to Dnipropetrovsk and headed the department of world history here. He tried to support medieval studies here. One of the main steps in this direction was the creation of special didactical museum. The museum emerged from Rubin's passion for visual methods of teaching – it was expected to make middle ages more visible and vital for history students. Though the museum emerged spontaneously (from the materials, gathered by Ya. Rubin as illustrations for his lectures) and existed by bare enthusiasm of the historian and his students, by the middle of 1950s it had an integral exposition. The ideological message of the museum totally corresponded with the official Soviet historiography: the exposition focused on the glorification of the Russian military victories in the past, anti-church and anti-clergy propaganda and history of class-struggle in Middle Ages. After Rubin's retirement in 1962 the museum declined, but hadn't perished. It changed its specialization and turned into museum of Dnipropetrovsk university, which exists till now.

From one side the radical organized economical changes were happened, the result of what was the change of accent in the system of formation the staffʼs potential of the village. During these changes the specialists were concentrated in the economies and were having the personal responsibilities for the results of actions of the serving and departments. The dates of transformation were accompanied as quantity and quality changes in the staff structure of the leading and governing links of collective farms. From the other side in the middle of 1960th the situation of their security was far away from the necessities of the material sphere of the village in the whole and also in the concrete directions of the agricultural industry.

А role and place of soldiery and civil advisers as an important instrument of soviet politics in the Democratic republic of Afghanistan are investigated in the article. It is well-proven that on a quantity, scales of activity and sphere of plenary powers the institute of soviet advisers in Afghanistan did not have analogues in history of the "cold war". The attempt of determination of degree of efficiency of realization of orders of soviet guidance by advisers is realizable. Factors that influenced on their activity are found out. Question about responsibility of soviet advisers for the failure of socialistic experiment in the Democratic republic of Afghanistan discussed in the article. Also heaved up the problem of interpretation of institute of the soviet advisers as an important instrument of the soviet occupation Afghanistan in 1979–1989. The researches based foremost on the memoirs of the soviet advisers. Like research is at first carried out in Ukrainian historiography.

The author analyzes scientific studies of M. S. Hrushevsky, which directly or indirectly are connected with Old East Slavic chronicles characteristics as specific historical sources. The article determines famous scientistʼs conceptual approaches to such topics as chronicles texts' attribution, determination of the content authenticity, information capabilities to investigate the history of the Kievan Rus'. It is ascertained, what are the main problematic issues, discrepancies, thematic and conceptual lacunae according to the M. Hrushevsky were the obstacle while researching Old East Slavic chronicles as a sources complex in the Ukrainian historiography of 20th century. The most weighty contribution was made by M. S. Hrushevsky to the Galician-Volhynian Chronicle studies. He reconstructed in depth the chronology of Galician-Volhynian Chronicle, and proved that this chronicle was firstly composed as a narrative ignoring dates. Only later some-one filled out the dates while editing the text, but "in a very random and false way". The author of the article makes a conclusion that in general M. Hrushevsky has described Old East Slavic chronicles as a "golden age of Kievan Rus' culture". However, only poor fragments of the chronicleʼs tradition remained by the turn of 20th century, being interrupted by the Mongol invasion. That's why the scientist warned historians against attributing the Old East Slavic chronicles with irrelevant "significant forms", since as reported in his researches there werenʼt enough sources to make such conclusions. The article demonstrates that the most typical features of the chronicles according to M. Hrushevsky were: significant impact of the Christian ideology, symptomatic loyalty to "knyaz-druzhina" system (governing classes in Kievan Rus'), content originality and stylistic ingenuousness, predominating collectivity and anonymity of the authorship. It is stated that Ukrainian historian has also defined main challenges for future researchers of Old East Slavic chronicles as historical sources. These challenges are aimed at the reconstruction of chronicles initial look (deprived of following supplements) through the comparison study of different collections and fragments.

The works by archimandrites Havriil (V. F. Rozanov) and Feodosiy (O. G. Makarevsky), historians A. O. Skalkovsky, D. I. Yavornitsky and V. O. Bidnov were the first documents on the history of the monastery (Novomoskovsk, Dnipropetrovsk Region). The monastery suffered from raids, fires, epidemics and robberies. The monastic archives were largely lost in the military operations. A lot of original documents didnʼt survive. The epidemic of 1750 did a great damage. The paper archive, infected things and monastery items were burned. The archive consisted of clerical documents, volumes of ancient laws, manuscripts and correspondence. The archive contained some other documents of great importance. They are so-called Universals, 11 statements with seals of Zaporizhian Sich Kosh (Leader) and priorsʼ complaints. The monastery archive contained manuscripts by the last Kosh Otaman (leader) − P. Kalnyshevsky. The archive included documents of state and local authorities and supreme church governing boards – reports, orders, decrees, warrants referring to the monastery property, inventories of monastery household items. A certain percentage of documents was correspondence among priors referring to internal discipline and economic life of the monastery. The names of famous visitors of the monastery are known: archimandrites Havriil and Feodosiy, A. O. Skalkovsky, A. P. Chirkov, P. M. Sochinskiy, V. D. Mashukov, D. I. Yavornitsky and V. O. Bidnov. They worked with documents and left published articles, essays and reviews. Except manuscripts the monastery had printed editions. The monastery library kept 150 liturgical books of Kyiv and Moscow publishing of the 17th − 18th centuries. Six printed books from Samara Desert-Nicholas Monastery are kept in Dnipropetrovsk National Historical Museum. The library collection of the 19th century was quite big. The research of the archive and the library of the monastery give an opportunity to highlight some of the unknown facts on library science and find rare editions of Ukrainian culture heritage.

The information content of the journals (minutes) of the meetings of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian State (1918) is investigated, which makes it possible to clarify the specifics of governmental agrarian policy. Information on the influence of the German and Austro-Hungarian military command on the agrarian policy of Ukraine, the peculiarities of land ownership and agrarian relations, the food and price policy of the Ukrainian government, and attempts at agrarian and land reform are discussed. The journals of the meetings of the Council of Ministers contain information about the emergence of a peasant rebel movement, caused in general by the unsuccessful agrarian activity of Hetman P. Skoropadsky, and also about government measures aimed at suppressing this movement. The investigated documentary complex should be recognized as an important source on the history of not only the Ukrainian State, its agrarian policy, but also the insurrectional movement and the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917−1921 generally.

The author studies how young P. Kulish's historiosophical views about history of Ukraine were formed and consolidated. It is pointed out that Kulish's romantic historiosophy had patriotic and teleological roots. It has been shown that during 1843–1846 P. Kulish wrote some important prose and poetic fiction and public works, where he considered about origin of Ukrainian history, studied its main events and stages, highlighted the importance of its social, spiritual, national and personal factors. The philosopher outlined the course of time in Ukrainian history from the period of the Kievan princes to the second half of the XVII-th century, discussed historical orientation of Ukraine in Central-Eastern European area, internal and external features of historical choice of Ukraine in the context of struggle between different social forces. P. Kulish also defined the meaning of human life in history, the role of secular and spiritual components for it.

The article elucidates the questions of forming the network of medical-food points in Ekaterinoslav Governorate in the late nineteenth – early twentieth centuries. To 1903 nineteen points of this type had functioned in the territory of the province. The author reveals the main directions of their activity aimed at social protection of working class and, in particular, providing the workers with food and medical assistance and accommodation. It is also noted that these points played the role of labor exchanges, assisting the workers who left the village to get the required work. Besides that, the points were provided with small libraries which contributed to enlightenment of the workers and their cultural development. The author comes to the conclusion that in spite of all the deficiencies in the work of land medical-food points they played a definite positive role in the questions of social protection of regional proletariat.

Create procuracy inthe South of Ukraine took place in the tragic circumstancesof civil conflict, the growing insurgency, especiallycharacteristic of the region. The procuracy actively usedthe power of punitive and repressive measures againstpolitical opponents. To solve the problem of staff turnoverand deficit of professionalism power tried by organizingthe rapid training and professional development. Theseproblems have reduced the effectiveness of procuracysupervision over the observance of legality in the South ofUkraine in the 1920s.In future research the author will be related to theanalysis of problems of law enforcement agencies of thestate in terms of crisis and democratic reforms.

Gastronomic tradition has been very important part of the daily lives of ancient Romans. It reflected both the features of life and overall social development of the Roman Empire. One of the forms of representation gastronomic tradition in Ancient Roman was a banquet. It as a special element of social life in Roman society was complex, because the idea of a good dinner included not only food as such, but also special ways of cooking and processing, music, games and conversation. Joint banquet as part of the gastronomy and general culture of Ancient Rome was a form of a small social group communication and consolidation. The main role of joint banquet was to create the illusion of democratic solidarity of members of one community. The article deals with banquet as one of the aspects of the study of the history of gastronomy culture of Ancient Rome. It is proved that the information enhances the study of culture and daily life of Ancient Rome.

The research is dedicated to highlighting the problems of the socio-political situation in the Grand Duchy of Finland during the reign of Nickolai I. The article defines the essence of the reforms in the various aspects of coexistence between Finland and Russia, as well as the specifics of the events and phenomena of history as an example of Finnish society in the years of 1825−1855. The author has studied the problems of adaptation to the Russian autocratic reality of the Finnish society, as well as the problems of reforming the socio-political life of Finland. The conclusion is that while the royal government and gave the Grand Duchy of Finland during the 1825-1855 biennium. Substantial gains, which led to the philosophical and political currents fennomaniyi, which began to defend Finland right to exist as a separate state, but separatist revolutionary understanding trends sought as soon as possible to roll Finnish autonomy.

The article discusses the development of Shevchenko's Studies in China from the early twentieth century to the present day. The author established that the first publication of Ukrainian poet's poems in China were done in the 1920s. Originally poems by Taras Shevchenko were published in Ukrainian editions of our emigration in Harbin and Shanghai. Publications by Kobzar's poems in Chinese began in the late 1920s – early 1930s. First article about Ukrainian writer and his poem "Oh, three wide ways" was published by a Chinese writer and literary critic Zhou Tszozhen. Overall, this article is devoted to works in the field of Shevchenko's Studies by Chinese literary critics, including Lu Xun, Xiao Sanya Chen Yuan, Sun Wei, Meng Hai, Zhang Tesyan and others. The most prominent Chinese expert in Shevchenko's Studies today is a connoisseur of Slavic literature, translator, literary critic Professor Ge Baotsyuan, who first translated the poems by Shevchenko from to Ukrainian Chinese (his precursors carried translations of Kobzar's poems mainly from Russian, German and English). It is also found that studying of life and works of Taras Shevchenko in China is included into many university courses in foreign literature, "Testament" is studied in Chinese schools. In 2008 the monument to Kobzar was opened. A collection of Kobzar's poems in Chinese which contains 139 texts was published in 2016.

The author analyzed the creative heritage of V. L. Modzalevsky in the Ukrainian genealogy and discussed his approach to the presentation of the genealogical material. The main focus is on his articles and «Malorossiyskу rodoslovnyk». Vadim Modzalevsky guided in its work on the works of A. M. Lazarevsky, V. V. Rummel. Historian widely used articles and reviews from newspapers and magazines. Considered historiographical tradition of the study of the subject, including works A. B. Kovalenko, N. V. Lobko, S. I. Bylokin’. The conclusion is that the works of V. L. Modzalevsky had a great influence on the formation of Ukrainian genealogy. Researcher improved traditional method of compiling genealogical paintings. His works also contain biographical information and social history. It is concluded that genealogy research of V. L. Modzalevsky is differed extraordinary, enormous wealth of source material, technical and skilled teaching methods of processing, gravity, balance and argumentativeness author’s conclusions and generalizations.

The article deals with analysis of books written by a famous Ukrainian scientist, historian, ethnographer, folklore researcher and cultural activist D. I. Yavornitsky, which are stored in the Scientific library of Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University. The initial book collection of the library was created in 1918. It consisted of books from Katerinoslav secondary schools. D. I. Yavornitsky made a valuable contribution to the history of the university and its library. Basic criteria for bibligaphic analysis of D. I. Yavornitsky's books are the following: content, chronological limits, subject matter, publishing houses, seals and inscriptions, number of copies printed. A part of books came to University library from Katerinoslav schools. The collection of D. I. Yavornitsky's books grew in difficult post-war years (1947) and in the 60–80-s of the 20 th century. Each book by D. I. Yavornitsky has scientific and historical value, has peculiar decoration and structure. The books contain maps, indices and appendices. His books contain materials on church and judicial system, everyday life and traditians which were common in Zaporizhzhya regions. The scientist's books contain pictures of Ukrainian and Russians painters I. E. Repin and O. G. Slastion which are of great scientific value as well. The publishing of the books is connected with names of famous landowners G. P. Alexeev, M. M. Komstadius and V. V. Tarnovsky. The article gives information about lifetime editions of D. I. Yavornitsky and their interesting modern reissues in Ukraine. Researching and analyzing of D. I. Yavornitsky's literary heritage will help to show the features of puplishing in the Russian Empire and highlight individual contribution to Katerinoslav history and culture.

The article deals with the analysis of burial structures from the territory of steppe Dnieper region. The special type of burial constructions could be distinguished. It consists of primary and secondary graves, united by one entrance hole. The secondary burial located vertically above the initial burial chamber. Such structures can be defined as two-chamber tiered burial. The characteristic features of this type of burial are: usage of one input pits; construction of the second chamber only after opening the entrance and penetration in the primary chamber; preserve remnants of previous burials and, if necessary; bunk camera locations; recovery facilities ("sealing") after the second burial. Further study of the the Catacomb culture will clarify features of two-chamber tiered graves.

The materials analysis of written and cartographic sources, as well as the results of its field-based archaeological investigations, during which the territory between the Oril-Samara regions were found the remains of two redoubts during the Russian-Turkish war of 1735–1739 years. Particular attention is paid to clarify the engineering features of these fortifications and the study of the conditions of their topographic location. Also, it attempts to define the strategic importance of the detected redoubts on the steppe road that was used by the Dnieper army during the campaign on the Crimean peninsula in 1736. Also based on archival cartographic material reconstruction of the journey from the river to the river Kilcheni Orelie, who performed military march column Dnieper army, headed B. H. von Munnich in campaign 1736. A topographic binding to it detected redoubts. Found that in its engineering features found fortifications are of the double redoubts. The question of the extent of the historicity of one of the first Kievan princes – the legendary Askold. Taking into account a historiography legacy an attempt was made to verify the chronicle reports about the activities of the Prince, based on the short-term eastern sources. It is concluded that the comparative analysis increases the chances of a series chronicles reports Askold led by the state association for plausibility. Terms at which this historical character can be examined as a commander of the hired varangian detachment on service of the Kievan prince Dir are hypothetically reconstructed. The done conclusions can serve an additional and ponderable argument at the analysis of norman theory of creation of the state of Ancient Rus’.

Mortality peculiar properties of the Josefstal’s colonists were considered on the base of parish registers data at the article. The critic of sources was provided and their potential was analyzed. The time and character of the epidemic outbreaks were measured. The mortality rate from the different types of diseases was compared. Author fixed some changes of seasonality in mortality peaks and declines between XIX and the beginning of XX. The research results attested that mortality rate at the colony was lower than at the regional center – Ekaterinoslav. So, birthrate was higher and mortality rate – lower than city, but higher birthrate Josefstal opposed to Gammalsvenskby and Ekaterinoslav opposed to Cherson pointed on the regional differences of birthrate. There were no such differences among the mortality rates, but they were found among cities and country. The mortality rate was 28 % at the both cities and 25 % at the colonies at the second half of the XIX. Some peculiar properties were found at the mortality parceling among sex and age groups.

In this article it has been analysed the three stages of the collectivization in a Western Ukrainian village. The first one was held during the initial establishment of the Soviet power (1940– the first half of 1941) and its re-establishment (1944–1946), when the political preconditions of the collectivization were laid out. During that stage there appeared the separate collective farms – the segments of the totalitarizm in the village. The second stage was characterized by the total transformation to collectivization., the beginning of the peasants’ mass alienation from their property, the starting of the terror against the national liberation movement and the deportation policy (1947- 1948). The third one was also characterized by the completion of the collectivization, the establishment of the collective farming system, the transformation of the peasants-owners into the modern serfs, the destruction of the socio-economic base of the national liberation movement (1949–1952). In the article it has also been shown that the collectivization’s violent methods of the Western Ukrainian village: beatings, intimidation, blackmail and provocations, arrests, deportations, destruction of farms limited the social base of the liberation movement, thus opening the way for the organization of collective farms. The armed struggle of the OUN-UPA had impact upon the rates and methods of collectivization. The collectivization’s fate depended upon the results of that struggle, which on the one hand, was the instrument for the suppression of the liberation movement, and on the other hand was the means to its «nutrition». Up to the end of 1952 the total and violent collectivization was finished in the Western Ukrainian lands. Therefore, «the revolutionary restructuring» of the Western Ukrainian village was done – the alienation of the peasant from his property, the destruction of the farmer-breadwinner.

In February 1918 the Leadership of the Ukrainian People’s Republic appealed to the governments of Germany and Austria-Hungary with a request for help in the war with the Soviet republics of Ukraine and Russia. The Ukrainian government asked to supply arms, to form and send to Ukraine parts of Ukrainian prisoners of war, stationed in Germany and Austria-Hungary. The Ukrainian government also asked about sending the Legion of Ukrainian Sich Riflemen to UPR. But eventually it agreed only Austro-Hungarian and German troops to enter Ukrainian People’s Republic. The article deals with the conditions of military aid providing to Ukrainian People’s Republic (1918) by Germany. The aim of the article is to find out the reasons according which UPR government couldn’t fix these conditions in international agreements. The main reason was the position of the Ukrainian government itself. It believed that such an agreement was not necessary, as Germany prepared for a decisive offensive on the Western front and then would withdraw its troops from Ukraine immediately after performing their combat tasks.

The author studies local conflicts of the 1980s in the Middle East and the interests of the Group of Seven. The purpose of the article is to represent the motivations of G7 of solution local conflicts of the 1980s in the Middle East. The author identified that interests of Group of Seven in resolving of local conflicts 1980s in the Middle East are can be determined by numbers of economic and political factors. This article is based on the analysis of sources and historiography. As a result of this research the author came to the conclusion that control over it – in terms of pricing policy accomplished OPEC – was an important precondition for the economy depended on oil imports of G Seven countries. Political motives component of G7 participation in resolving local conflicts in the Middle East was the trying to prevent the spread of Soviet influence on this region. Priority actions in shaping strategy of Seven countries were actually delegated to the United States, who played the leader of the Western world in the fight against the socialist camp. As a result shown that the motives solution of local conflicts in the Middle East for the Group of Seven countries were built on its own geopolitical and economic interests, rather than on a deep analysis of the internal causes of crises in Afghanistan, Lebanon or Iran.

The formation and development of the technical periodicals in the Russian empire in the 19th – at the beginning of the 20th centuries are regarded. Their programs, subject matter direction, periodicity and time of publication, circulation have been analyzed. Technical periodicals are considered to be the main source not only of the technical achievements and development of different branches of industry but also of the events of the social life of that time. The forms and structure of the materials published in the periodicals are different. The problems of the technical periodical press were studied in the works by the Soviet scholars Yu. A. Mezhenko, O. I. Akopov and the Ukrainian investigator O. D. Shkolna and others but this problem has not been enough investigated. As far as the mining and metallurgical branches are concerned, they were not elucidated in details. According to the development of the mining branch of industry in the Russian empire the first technical periodical appeared in 1825 in S.–Petersburg. At the end of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th century there were more than 20 mining and metallurgical periodicals in the Russian empire They were published in S.–Petersburg, Moscow, Yekaterynburg, Tiflis, Kharkiv and Katerynoslav. Different branches of industry were developing in the Russian empire at that time and the readers appeared who needed to get highly qualified special information. In Katerynoslav region there was the highest concentration of the industrial enterprises. The engineers, specialists, workers were interested in technical press and valuable information. Reviews of economic problems, technical achievements of the Russian and foreign engineers in the mining and metallurgical branches of industry, government documents, the materials of the Congresses of the Southern mining engineers, the articles of the professors of the Mining University, statistical data, the problems of railway and river transport were elucidated in the technical periodicals. The technical press is a n important component of the source base of the industrial development in modern Ukraine.

The article is dedicated to the analyze of the potential sources of information on the history of Swedish USSR. Available sources were divided into legislative acts (record keeping records, materials law enforcement cases, statistical sources), materials of personal origin (memoirs, letters, reports visitors to the village) and publications on the pages of local and Swedish media. Using the criteria of reasonable sufficiency, summarized that generated source base study is representative for the study of many aspects of the history of Swedish USSR. It is proved that an official office documents submitted by regulatory and accounting and control documentation have enormous information potential for the reconstruction process of the establishment of Soviet power in rural areas and stages of socio-cultural transformation of the population of the Gammmalsvenksby. It was reflected in a public reaction on the government national policy which was implemented. Based on forensic investigation files it is possible to reconstruct events Stalin’s purges and World War II that took place among Swedes, to follow national specific repression, learn about relationships within the Swedish national minority and their relationships with individual representatives of other nationalities. One of the most important features of this documents their role in the reconstruction of physical and psychological portrait of the defendants, their strategies of behavior in extreme situations. Information capacity of the A. Annas memories provides opportunities to study the history of Soviet Swedes in interwar period, their daily life, economy, behavior strategies in extreme situations, relations with the Soviet authorities and others. Attracting messages travelers helps to trace the mechanism of image formation of the Russian Swedes in their homeland and determine its impact on attitudes to re-emigrants. In process of analysis of complex source it was shown that in most cases one particular type of questions are answered on separate sources. This eliminates the possibility of cross-checking of the data and requires special consideration in the formulation of questions.

In this paper I analyze the characteristics of the integration of women in archaeological scientific community in the second half of XIX th and early XX th centuries. The author, using the concept of status identity J. Marcia, is considering the formation of professional identity of women archaeologists by lives and careers of P. S. Uvarovoy and K. N. Melnyk-Antonovich. J. Marcia’s status identity theory is based on Erikson’s concept of ego-identity and he describes four types (statuses) of identity formation based on the presence or absence of crises and commitment in occupational and ideological realms: Identity Diffusion, Foreclosure Identity, Identity Achievement and Moratorium. In this paper, I consider individuals with the Foreclosure Identity, this type of women includes P. S. Uvarovy and K. N. Melnyk-Antonovich. Foreclosure Identity is characterized by following a woman living projects that were not laid by themselves, and authoritative leaders (father, husband), in this case woman does not take part in «building their own lives». That is, the development of their identity «is through the identification, rather than individuation». At the initial stage of entering a woman in archaeological scientific community she needed the support of the men, preferably authoritative person in the scientific society. For the example the lives and career P. S. Uvarovoy and K. N. Melnyk-Antonovich clearly seen the fact that a woman could realize themselves in the scientific community only through her husband (A. S. Uvarov, V. B. Antonovich).

The author considers the contribution of the new-building expeditions of the Institute of archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv state Universities, which conducted archaeological researches in the 70–90-ies of the XX century in Dnipropetrovsk region, to the reconstruction of the historical situation in the region in the early iron age. The article throws light upon the relics that belong to the historical Cimmerians, Scythians and Sarmatians. Discoveries of the archaeological new-building expedition of Dnipropetrovsk state University indicate that Cimmerian tribes, having developed the left-bank Presteppe and southern forest-steppe area in the Seversky Donets basin, in the second half of the VIII – first half of the VII c. BC moved to the forest-steppe zone and participated in the ethno-cultural processes that took place there. In Dnipropetrovsk region, there are two centers containing relics of the Scythian time. The first one is associated with the left-bank Presteppe area and carries information about the time of invasion of individual groups of Scythian steppe population, which interacted with the inhabitants of the final bronze age. The second center is the right-bank area, where burial relics that belonged to the higher Scythian nobles are located. At the same time the essential attention was paid to the study of the Sarmatian period. As a result the north-steppe Dnieper region can be put in one line with the most studied areas of residence of the Sarmatians in Ukraine.

This article is devoted to the problems of the historical images and symbol in creation of T. Shevchenko. A characteristic feature of his work of this period can be called revolutionary apparent openness. From the standpoint of national rebel, a fighter for freedom and justice Shevchenko considers the historical fate of Ukraine. Well versed in the country's history, backed Christian moral and ethical values, he fills his pieces with imagery and symbolism. For early works were characterized by positive thinker historical images that were identified with the past grandeur and heroism of Ukraine. In the work we have studied period there is a gradual transition to the negative description of images and symbols, such as might dig, death, desolation. Most of all, it was a disappointment is connected with the author in a realistic world and futile struggle against autocracy. Nevertheless, the work of Ukrainian poet had a significant impact on the Ukrainian national awakening, struggle and their independence and self-determination. Certainly, his work was of decisive importance for the formation of the Ukrainian nation.

In the article author, basing upon his monographic research, proves, that during all history of Ukrainian Cossacks at Velykyi Lug only three Zaporizhian Siches existed: Bazavluc'ka (1590–1638), Chortomlyc`ka (1652–1638) and Pidpil'nens'ka or Nova (1734–1775). At the same time Khortytska Sich, Tomakivs'ka and Mykytyns'ka Siches were only forposts. Among Siches only Bazavluc'ka was Ukrainian state organization, Chortomlyc'ka and Pidpil'nens'ka were military borderland units. The author states, that the first Sich emerged on the principles of synergetics and ethnogenesis, that is principles of social self-development. External influence on the process of synergetics and ethnogenesis in emergence of first Sich (Bazavluc'ka) was caused by seven systematic components: 1. Great Borderland with its dangerous conditions of Crimea Tatars raids from the end of XV century (upper system) 2. Eight kosh's of sich-outposts (from 1585) on the islands of Velykyi Lug from every borderland castle, in which Cossacks lived (lower system). 3. Cossacks army with organized structure, formed to 1587–1590 (transitional model of the system for Zaporizhian Sich formation). 4. Legal act – permission to create autonomous structure at the Southern Dnieper Region under guidance of Polish king. It was issued by Polish Seim with support of Syhizmund III during third Cossack reform of 1590–1592 under the title «Order on nyzovci and Ukraine», 19.04.1590 (environment). 5. High level of development of road and mail connection between koshes of island siches at Velykyi Lug and volost (mechanism of administration and feedback). 6. Cossacks knight corporative ideology, based upon imperative: «Be whom you must be», and tradition to make decisions not after «majority agreement», but «general agreement». Notably, feeling of higher unity «we» had to oppress every concrete «I», what only could guarantee collective security in dangerous conditions of military trade 7. Turning of Cossacks into sub-ethnos during 1690–1696 – part of Ukrainian ethnos and its dominant, and Bazavluc`ka Sich became social coverage for that sub-ethnos.

The last decade of the 19 th century was characterized by the rapid development of the ining and metallurgical branches of industry in Donetsk-Prydniprovsk region. The aim of the article is to analyze the protective actions of the tsarist government directed to the development of Donetsk-Prydniprovsk region at the end of the 19 th century. In the 90-s of the 19 th century there were favorable conditions for the development of the national mining and metallurgical branches of industry. The development of mining industry was very important for other branches of industry because they depended on it. At that time branch technical press published laws and orders of the government interested in the development of the mining and metallurgical branches of industry. One of the aspects of the government activity may be called administrative-organizational. The tsarist government paid much attention not only to the development of mining branch of industry but also to the development of the metallurgical one. Thus in the 90-s of the 19 th century the formation of Donetsk-Prydniprovsk region continued. Technical branch journals elucidated and discussed the activity of the tsarist government and mining manufacturers directed to the development of the mining and metallurgical branches of industry. The protective policy of the government, customs policy, investments of foreign capital supported the development and modernization of the national industry. Due to the protective policy of the government, efforts of the mining manufacturers the state of the mining and metallurgical branches of industry improved and Donetsk-Prydniprovsk region became the leading industrial one in the Russian empire.

Nazarevich» – the well-known former leader of various levels of underworld OUN in Ternopil (1941-43), Zakerzonnia (1943-47 years), North-Western Ukrainian Lands (1948-1953 years) In Zakerzonnia V.Galasa served as political-propagandistic assistant (from 1943) and deputy regional leader Y. Starukh (from 1945). In study of problems of the Ukrainian-Polish interaction in Zakerzonnia in 1945-47 years, the important thing is to highlight the role of individual personalities of OUN and UPA in this process. After the year 1944 the Ukrainian ethnic lands behind the Cerzon were under jurisdiction of the Polish state. In spring of the year 1945 Vasyl Galasa with new boundary guide Jaroslav Starukh – «Stjag» defined establishing relations of Krayova Army(AK) with the Polish underworls as a strategic goal and the local Polish population and the administration through coverage of information on national liberation struggle, its purpose, its political platform, campaigning for joint anti-Bolshevik front. To achieve this goal, there were conducted for numerous meetings and negotiations with Poland. He was the author of ideological works. In 1945 he published a pamphlet, «Ukrainian-Polish relations», written under the pseudonym «Zenon Savchenko». It argued the Poles that UPA was not a band that wanted to destroy them, but it was a Union against the Communists who threaten the Poles and the Ukrainians. On the Polish territory there were accounted for the largest number of propagandistic raids in order to increase the anti-Bolshevik front of struggle for liberation of all nations. In May 1945, the UPA Command issued an order on such raids among the Polish population. V. Galasa was just engaged in detailed briefing related to their conduct. Personal contribution of Vasil Galasa in establishing relationships of the Ukrainians and the Poles in Zakerzonnia was argued by positive attitude of OUN towards the Poles and commitment to dialogue and cooperation.

The article analyzes famous Ukrainian historian D. I. Bagaliy work in the area of source studies and archaeography. The article also ascertains scientist's contribution to the development of the particular theoretical, methodological, methodical and problem practical aspects of the Ukrainian history source studies. It is stated that the source studies parts of "The Ukrainian historiography essays" should be considered as the most weighable contribution of the scientist. "The Ukrainian historiography essays" outdid all present synthetic works in Ukrainian source studies and historiography by the conception breadth, the volume and the circumstantiality, and the scientific analytics level in some cases. The author determines the general nature of the D. I. Bagaliy's scientific activities in the area of historiography, source studies and archaeography on the basis of his source studies works and special divided to him literature analysis. It was strongly influenced by the works of K. M. Bestuzhev-Ryumin and V. S. Ikonnikov and similar to them in methodological and methodical aspects. Some researchers name the direction represented by these scientists a "bibliographic" direction, emphasizing that it was aimed to accumulate historic facts and to summarize them. The other naming of the direction is "critical source studies" (modern Ukrainian historian V. V. Kravchenko). Concentration on facts, efforts to avoid synthetic summarizing and conclusions were the typical features not only for D. I. Bagaliy's works, but for main part of present Ukrainian historians positivists, in particular representatives of Kyiv historians documentalists school (D. I. Bagaliy came from this school too). The analysis of historiographic and archaeographic D. I. Bagaliy's work allows to assert that this scientist was a typical representative of steamlined classic positivism in the late XIXth and early XXth centuries historic science.

An attempts were made to analyze the tradition of study of this problem, mainly, the problem of using the term "historical school" in relation to the Lviv polish historians of the second half of XIX century, in contemporary Polish and Ukrainian historical science. This analysis showed that very often in modern historical scholarship, the term "historical school" is used without a clear definition. It creates some problems for further specific research. The activity of the monarchical organizations was a significant part of work of the Imperial Dumas of the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century which found the reflection in the numerous publications devoted both to the Imperial Dumas' activity and June electoral system in general, and to the defined political organizations. The existing number of works allows analyzing the level of researching the monarchical organizations' activity in the Imperial Dumas. The study of the monarchical organizations’ historiography and determination of the basic tendencies in their activity’s research appears to be of vital importance, as far as it allows emphasizing the problems and debating points which demand the special attention, which is one of the methodological tasks of the historiographic researches and the necessary condition for the further profound study of these political organizations. Having examined in the article the status of studying the monarchical political organizations' activity in the Imperial Dumas of the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century, we may conclude that this range of problems was understudied. Despite the presence in the historiography of the numerous works devoted to the June electoral system and the Imperial Dumas' activity, on the one hand, and works which consider the right-wing political organizations' activity at the beginning of the 20th century, particularly in the Imperial Dumas, on the other hand, the mentioned range of problems has the understudied problems and debating points which demand the further profound study. With that, there is the necessity to study the historiography of the Russian monarchical organizations' activity, in particular, in the territory of Ukraine, for the purpose of determining the basic ways of the further researches to create the integral socio-political history of Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century.

The main task was to identify the main feature of surrounding reality comprehension by people – bearers of the archeological cultures of the eneolithic and bronze ages of Dnieper region. Basing on extensive comparative material, including both archeological artefacts and written sources, the article proves unity of ideas of the man of archaic epoch about his position in the system of the universe determined by the recurrence of the main archetypes. Symbol, myth, ritual show the different sides of a complex system of cosmogonical views, and the place of man in it. Among involved evidences of aforesaid the author enters a new – anthropomorphic – type of stone altars of Ingul catacomb culture into scientific circulation for the first time.

The article deals with the stone processing by the population of the final stage of the late Bronze Age of the Left-bank Ukraine on the materials of boguslavsko-belozerskaya culture (BBC) of the second half of the 13th –10th centuries BC. There are three stages in the development of this culture: the proto-BB stage (the second half of the 13th century BC), the BB1 stage (the 12th –11th centuries BC), the BB2 stage (the 10th century BC). Systematization of the materials shows that different kinds of stone goods which did not require much work input, special instruments and raw materials were being produced by boguslavsko-belozersky tribes in every settlement. However, professional training was necessary for manufacturing many tools when processing quartzite, granite, diorite, diabase and other kinds of hard stone. Morphological uniformity of pestle-sceptres, mortars, cylindrical grinders, smoothing irons presented in the artefacts of BBC and other cultures of the late Bronze Age of the Eastern Europe may be explained by the existence of the specialized manufacturing centers. It is also concerned the processing of silicon. Existence of the specialized silicon processing centers of the final stage of the late Bronze Age on the territory of the Left-bank Ukraine is proved by the materials of the settlements Dibrova, Glubokoie Ozero-2 of the Seversky Donets situated near siliceous cretaceous screes. It gives evidence of the revival of silicon processing at the BB1 stage. Further development of silicon tool manufacturing by the tribes of BBC was at the BB2 stage. It was most significantly revealed in silicon sickle spreading. Probably a short-term revival of the stone industry in the 12th –10th centuries BC on the territory of the Left-bank Ukraine was caused by the inevitable shortage of raw materials during the transition period from bronze metallurgy to iron metallurgy.
