This brief review of the xylotheque as important reference collection aims to bring the true purpose and characteristics of these collections, its configuration and rigorous collection, recording, curation and preservation of specimens, as well as its importance cultural and scientific heritage of humanity. It has a bit of history and situation of xylotheques in the world and national scene and proposes a documented analysis of the benefits and relevance, which aims to encourage the creation of other collections and generate a change in their wrong conception and its forgotten and poor vision of these and the researchers associated with them. Analyzes its immediate and most urgent needs in Colombia, with an approach that aims to ensure and strengthen their support by related institutions, the joint development of specimens acquisition strategies closely with botanical and herbariums and conducting research to support the advancement of conservation policies of our forests, to enable identification of the species being transported and marketed, to help combat illegal logging and improve the use of this valuable material in the country.

Wetlands has a vital role from an ecological and socio-economic perspective. Confronted with the idea outdated and unhealthy places and low productivity, today are considered strategic and crucial for ecosystem services provided by ecosystems, increasing dampers, special conservation sites biota. Based on a bibliographic review of the ecological status of wetlands in Colombia in the last 15 years, we analyzed the most frequent and common factors, problems and impacts presented in 29 Colombian wetlands. A prospective methodology was applied through The MICMAC® software, in order to know and prioritize the factors that are most sensitive to the transformation of the ecosystem and on which mitigation, preservation and/or conservation actions should be taken. It was found that the urban processes are a factor of high impact in the deterioration of the wetland. The potential and robustness of the MICMAC® software as a prospective analysis tool could be verified, which could be used by environmental authorities to improve decision making regarding what to do?, how to act?, and what to expect? Of the factors and problems that occur in wetlands.

Ecological restoration initiatives that include revegetation techniques are complex processes that can be affected by many biotic and abiotic variables. Among the latter, populations of microorganisms play a fundamental role in the release of nutrients and therefore in the establishment of plant species in the areas to be restored. The study sought to evaluate the density of microbial communities related to the nutrient cycles of carbon, phosphorus and nitrogen known as functional groups present in a revegetated soil and another zone without intervention in the municipality of Villa de Leyva. Methods used in this evaluation were standard plate counts using selective culture media, also a correlation analysis were also performed between groups to evidence possible ecological interactions. In general populations of all functional groups of microorganisms are present in the two zones evaluated. Only significant differences were found for counts of phosphate solubilizing bacteria and proteolytic microorganism populations (p≤0.05). Some statistically significant correlations were found between some microbial groups that could indicate processes of cometabolism and competition among microbial populations of the soil, which favors the ecological balance of the same.

Johnson, in two ecological restoration scenarios Jairo Hernán Solorza-Bejarano Abstract In order to improve the control programs of the invasive species Genista monspessulana, in two scenarios of ecological restoration with different light availability in Bogotá, we analyzed the seed bank regeneration pattern and the initial development of the individuals. For that, coverage, abundance, height, epigeal and hypogeal length, number of leaflets, leaf area, root diameter, number of root branches, presence of nodules and biomass epigeal and hypogeal of the seedlings were studied. Seedling development as well as seedbank regeneration showed differences in the ecological scenarios. In the area under tree canopy, individuals presented slow growth, limited by litter cover and low light availability, while in the open area with greater light incidence, the individuals showed a rapid development of the leaves and roots, in addition of the mutualistic association with microorganisms that allows them greater absorption and fixation of nitrogen.
