The year 2014 has witnessed a huge outcome of scholarly materials analyzing the political and historical milestone of the World War I. Contemporary historiographical approaches set culture into the perspective of the cultural turn that is to say, a passage from the social history towards a cultural history about the Big War. This article analyzes the World War I from the point of view of four Latin Americans chroniclers. They were José Basileo Acuña (1897-1916), from Costa Rica; Salomón de la Selva (1893-1959) and the well-renown poet, Rubén Darío (1867-1916), both of them from Nicaragua and the Guatemalan journalist, Enrique Gómez Carrillo (1873-1927). They eye-witnessed and experienced at first hand the confrontation. Their texts besides giving us their personal glance of the conflict, also bring us closer to the day-to-day wartime history letting us know the story of the anonymous heroes, of mutilated people and the displaced victims of that first war conflict that affected all Mankind.

By studying some of Gloria Comesaña's texts, I intend to identify the main theoretical contributions made by the thinker Gloria Comesaña Santalices in her process of building a feminist epistemology by bringing alternative proposals to the historically dominant androcentric epistemology. I will also refer to key aspects of Comesaña Santalices feminist epistemology by analyzing the terminology with which she develops her theoretical approaches.

I aim to demonstrate the continuity between the activities of the leader of the Cuban annexation, Narciso López, and the captain of US filibusters William Walker, as exponents of the interests of the recalcitrant slavery of the South and other regions of the United States. The paper looks into their program and tactics pointing to the unlimited expansion of slavery at the cost of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Particularly it is sought to show the overlap between the forces of Walker filibustering and Cuban annexationist in the Central American context.

The article aims to a critical interpretation of some scholarly preambles which justifies, in first decade of the 21st. century in Chile, the extraction and use of sound materials constituting the eccentric reality of the Mapuche people. This appropriation of sound materials and its further fusion with elements, procedures and aesthetics that comes from the invader West, pose a violent acculturation and miscegenation which is evident in the creation of the so-called Indigenist Music. Reference is made to the eccentric Mapuche people which were subjugated by Western colonization and invasion in a history preceding the setting of Chilean Nation-state. Such configuration started to produce and reproduce hegemonic strategies that silenced, disintegrated and hidden that history in which I intent to place myself. I aim to look on the creation of that music restricted to Chile scholarly backgrounds and so called as of "indigenous" venue. The West has denied the right to self-determination of peoples, not only for the Mapuche but for all the native American peoples. By creating a social imaginary which laid foundations of a colonizing and invasive culture, the West applies an strategy to disintegrate through the integration.
