American Revolutionary War1775-1783 and the role of France are researched in this article. The author focuses on help and support, which were got by the rebellious colonies from French government. Also politi-cal situation in the country and reasons of hesitancy of the court of Louis XVI on the initial phase of war are considered. Also the role of personage, who helped in developing of relations between France and young American republic in the period of war is defined. These persons are, for example, P. Beaumarchais, B. Franklin, С. Verger, S. Deane, T. Jefferson and other. Also author pays attention to influence, caused by American revolution on civil society and further fate of absolutism in France. Separately the role of Treaty of Alliance 1778 and its influence on relations between France and rebellious colonies is analyzed.
