The article presents the results of studies for evaluating water-holding capacity of the varieties in genus of Iris under cultivation in the conditions of the mountain-taiga zone of the Eastern Kazakhstan. There was found that varieties in varying degree adapted to new growth conditions. The authors concluded that the greatest intake of moisture is observed in the period of active vegetation of plants. The article discusses that there is a tend to decrease the amount of moisture and weakening of the water-holding capacity of the leaves in the varieties of iris, with the end of the summer season and preparing plants for the winter period (end of August). In general, for all studied varieties of iris hybrid is established a satisfactory water-holding capacity of the leaves, reflecting their resistance to the conditions of the mountain taiga zone of Eastern Kazakhstan.

The article provides a geobotanical description of the two main populations of Stipa sareptana A. Beck. on the territory of the Zaisan valley. There are given the initial reconnaissance data of the feed grains distribution, phytocenosis characteristic of these communities. The author came to the conclusion that individuals of Stipa sareptana of Bukumbayskoy population is not interested for breeding due to the low productivity and underdevelopment. The species Stipa sareptana Kiin-Kurilskoy populations are resistant to extreme conditions of ecotope, abundant green forage weight, high dynamics of growth. This ecotype Stipa sareptana is recommended for further study with the aim of sampling to be introduced.

The main features in T. aethiopicum and other close species were analyzed using comparative genetic analysis. In the result of the study found that species traits marking spikelet glumes are controlled by 1-3 genetic and ore more polymeric nonallelic genes. Their taxonomic type based on a series of unambiguous (polymer) genes fixed as a result of evolution and their cultivation. All this confirms the view that morphological differences between Linnaean species of cultural wheat quantitative (polygenic) and may be considered as ecological-geographical taxa.
