This study is on the analysis of movies depicting seafarers. Movies are instruments of social evaluation and a tool for propaganda. Movies are also a means of not just assessing the mindset of the generality of the public but also of influencing the mindsets of the society. Movies are therefore a vital component of social engineering and change. The three movies that portray the lives of seafarers are “Captain Phillips”, “Poseidon”, and “The Perfect Storm”. The three movies depicted the lives of seafarers from the perspective of character, family, risks and society. From the analysis of the movies, the researchers found out the seafarers suffer a lot of isolation, risks, and emotional stress. They are usually people of integrity and selfless actions and deserve commendation in the eyes of the public.

This study aimed to determine the Level of Satisfaction of Marine Engineering Students in using the LIMA Machine Workshop and the problems encountered with regards to service provided by the Machine Workshop. Descriptive type of research was employed in the study. Results show that students are satisfied with using LIMA Marine Engineering Workshop provided by the school administration while the ratio of machine to students does not satisfy the students. The quality of equipment used during workshop affects students' performance. The students' knowledge on the use of equipment in the Machine Workshop is limited in compliance with Section A-III/1 STCW 1978 amended.

This study primarily aimed to investigate the level of agreement of Foreign Students in relation to the Language, teachers, culture, and society as well, and evaluate their level of agreement towards the problems encountered during discussion, and to propose action to enhance/improve the service quality of LIMA. The study used the descriptive method and utilized questionnaire as its instrument. Results showed that foreign students strongly agreed with the LIMA language, communication, social interaction and academic life challenge. Results also showed that foreign students encountered some problems regarding the language and social interaction. An action plan was proposed to recognize the areas for further improvement, and address them accordingly, establishing a strong Agreed rate among the students –– a baseline standard of performance and a possible standard of excellence. It is recommended that LIMA has to implement programs and regulations that will promote a more efficient means of offering language that will exercise the efficiency in communication, speaking and class discussions for future foreign students.

This research work was pursued to gain insights on the level of satisfaction of students in the Lyceum International Maritime Academy (LIMA) Campus on the services rendered by its Canteen. This study would determine the level of satisfaction of the LIMA students on the current services that are rendered by the LIMA canteen and also propose problems for the problems that are cited. This study utilized a descriptive research method with (240) Maritime students that were chosen on the basis of random sampling. Results showed that the respondents of the study are satisfied. The LIMA students agreed that the canteen to the problems like lack of space, chairs and tables, and poor ventilation. The respondents are also aware that the LIMA Canteen also has problems that are needed to be improved. Since the study’s objective is to propose some plans of actions on the following problems, we would be able to suggest solutions to these problems involving the persons involved. So far, the LIMA Canteen is accomplishing its vision and mission to further satisfy the needs of their customers.

The study aimed to determine the level of awareness on the new curriculum of LIMA. The researchers used descriptive method of research. The data were gathered through questionnaires. The respondents of the study were one hundred ninety (190) second year BSMT and BSMarE students, currently enrolled in LPUBatangas. The results revealed that the respondents were aware on the new curriculum of LIMA based on instructions and learning outcomes. The respondents also encountered problems in the implementation of the new curriculum. The researchers recommended to spread the information about the new curriculum to all students and to provide new teaching techniques and strategies to enhance student learning.

This study primarily aimed to investigate the level of satisfaction on different instructional materials offered to maritime students of LIMA in relation to content, equity and accessibility, assessment, organization and presentation, and instructional design and support. This research was also pursued to identify the instructional materials frequently utilized by the students of LIMA and the problems encountered in the use of such materials. Descriptive type of research was utilized in the study. The respondents of the study were two hundred-forty (240) students that were chosen on the basis of random sampling, where samples were taken proportionally with the total number of population in different programs of LIMA. The results showed that most of the instructional materials in LIMA were able to utilize, though some students were not mindful of the available aids so they are not able to maximize the function of it. Awareness of the materials available can enhance one’s memory, focus and concentration, writing skills, and analytical thinking abilities. The study yielded that most of the respondents were satisfied with the instructional materials in relation to various criteria. The respondents believed that conditions and quality of instructional materials were not optimal of its price and instructional aids were late in late in the field of technology and advancement. The demand of maritime students to have a competitive edge on the instructional aids includes the all materials offered by an educational institution wherein these should meet the satisfaction of these students in all key areas and problems; otherwise such institution has to take appropriate action and measure to improve its services.

This research work was pursued to gain insights on the level of awareness of maritime students regarding SLRC Club. This study could be a help to distinguish if maritime students are aware on the newly organization and measure the level of agreement towards the set guidelines of SLRC Club. This study utilized a descriptive research method with (240) Maritime students that were chosen on the basis of random sampling. Results showed that the respondents of the study are aware that SLRC Club aims to learn more about the library. Reading books, searching the Internet, and other materials inside the library is an aid to the students to improve their performance and communication skills inside the classroom. The respondents are also aware that the club encourages maritime students to utilize their free time in the library to learn and SLRC club strengthen the interest of the students in reading with accordance to its general objective which is to strengthen the interest of the students in reading, viewing, and evaluating information to become lifelong learners.
