December 25, 2014, President Vladimir Putin approved a new version of the military doctrine of the Russian Federation, which reflects manifested threat to Russia and its allies because the situation in Ukraine, especially in its south-east, in the Donets Basin; the events in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan; issues of interaction and cooperation with Abkhazia, South Ossetia, with the CSTO member countries, the BRICS. An important role in the strengthening of the southern borders of the security operate military bases and facilities of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, located in Transnistria, the Caucasus, Syria and Central Asia. Characteristics of these bases and their value in the Black Sea-Caspian arc of tension given in this article.

The article analyzes the phenomenon of "polite people" from the point of view of the history and theory of ethical thought. Identify and specify ethical principles that form the basis of military courtesy. On the basis of the revealed regularities, the study proves that ethics is impossible without a certain power attributes, which constitute its core. In relation to the traditions of Russian warriors revealed the key role to their formation of the Orthodox ethics and the military of meekness. The obtained results can serve as material for educational activities for the formation of fighting spirit.

In the summer campaign of 1942 both warring sides were planning offensive operations with strategic goals. Stavka expected during successive operations from south to north to break the main enemy grouping in the Crimea, Donbass, in the direction of Moscow, Leningrad unlock. The German command was preparing a major impact on the southern wing of the Soviet-German front. For this it was quantitatively and qualitatively enhanced the southern group of German troops, sent here as the main forces of the Allies, Romanian, Hungarian and Italian troops, two divisions of the Slovaks. The Soviet command of the Bryansk, South-Western and Southern Fronts failed to reveal the direction of the main Wehrmacht forces and organize defenses in the offensive zone percussion groups of forces of Germany and its allies troops.

The article is analyzed the materials of Russian periodical press in 1860. It is about the Militärgrenze and the project of organization of the Slavic rebellion in the Austrian Empire, developed by B. Katalinich. The author concludes that the authors of journal publications (N.P. Glinojecky, only Russian officer, who wrote regularly about Grenz infantry and M.I. Dragmirov, who was well-known military theorist) is not considered Grenz regiments as a military settlement. They considered them as a part of the regular Austrian army and exaggerating their fighting efficiency. Special attention is paid to the project B. Katalinich, who was a junior officer in the four armies: Austrian, Mexican, Serbian and Russian. His project of the Slavic rebellion was very unreal, but the Minister of war D. A. Milyutin, the chief of Main staff F.L. Heiden and other top Russian officials expressed interest to him. The result of the study is the conclusion that the project of B. Katalinich could have some influence on the Russian-Austrian and Russian-Croatian relations in different conditions, but was proposed too late.

In this article is described the attack on the Italian naval base Taranto, carried out exclusively by the forces of English carrier-based aircraft 11 of November 1940 of year, – the first in the history of war shooting at sea the case of applying the aircraft carriers for inflicting of impacts on the sea bases and the based in them warships. This operation laid way to numerous alliterations in the course World War II. Strategic situation in Mediterranean theater of military actions changed radically after this impact.

On the basis of the historical and sociological material presented materials about the Soviet state measures during the Great Patriotic War for the implementation of social policy in respect of the military air force of the Red Army, expressed in monetary incentives, rewards and social guarantees. The author notes that the implementation of social management practices at each stage of warfare timely adjustments depending on acquired combat experience and the strategic objectives of war. Existing wartime monetary awards system and social guarantees in respect of the personnel of the Red Army Air Force was not a major, but significant moral incentive for both pilots, as for representatives of other arms and services.

Article is dedicated to landing to Pikshuiy cape in April – May 1942. The article is described the preparation for it, stated problems, forces and facilities, and also motion of debarkation, the influence of severe weather conditions on the results of landing operation especially in detail is examined. The authors note that the tragedy played at Cape Piksaev was made possible due to the lack of attention of the command of the fleet to the weather, as an important element of the theatre, and the rear of miscalculations in the preparation of units, advancing from the occupied bridgehead on the land direction, to act in complex meteorological conditions. In the preparation of the landing was a violation of the requirements of a number of guidance documents.

The article based on the analysis of the data gives the attempt of the periodical press of combat actions on the territory of Donbas in 2014-2015: there are presented clearly two periods. The first is the period of the maneuvers from 7 April 2014 to 5 September 2014, characterized by the presence of fortified centres which both sides tried to get around to entering the operating room. In this period there is no clear front line, fighting was an interaction maneuverable shock groups. The second period is the period position of action from September 5 to the present time, characterized by clearly formed the front line, as a rule, deeply echeloned. Active hostilities reached a peak during the battle for Lugansk and the Donetsk airport and Debaltsevo during the operation.
