This research was generally based on an interesting phenomenon in 2006, when Merapi erupted. There was Maridjan’s rebellion as a royal servant to climb down from Merapi when Hamengkubuwono X as the king commanded him. The main questions were what were the factors of Maridjan’s resistances?; what were the forms of Maridjan capitals in this fighting?; and what did Maridjan get from the bet as the winner? The approach of this research was anthropological perspective using participatory observation and analyzed by qualitative method. To get data, researcher lived in Maridjan’s house for several months in Merapi. The findings of the study were there was Maridjan’s resistance which was interpreted as a fighting created by media. The second was Maridjan’s resistance supported by two capital powers; the cultural power as the Merapi’s caretaker and the discourse capital supported by the media. The third was Maridjan won the bet by getting the prestige in his social status either popularities or wealth.

The fundamentalism movement is getting increase and has considerable influence in the academic circumstance. This research aimed to understand how to reconstruct an ideas about religion and how its implementation in the religious movement on the campus. This qualitative research with in-depth interview techniques, and participant observation was found that the religious movements from KMK community of UGM Post Graduate has strong fundamentalism character and traits with following indicators: more oriented to the increase of exclusively religious spiritual values growth from the growth of academic intellectual values that able to compete in the mid of Science and Technology (IPTEK) development rate. The other things found in this research were not sufficient discourse on the implementation of theological values in the community. The religious teachings internalization process is using an indoctrination approach, so, the hermeneutic principles which the basis of the Bible interpretation process is ignored and finally the interpretation result were literal and fatal. On the other part there is PERKANTAS fundamentalism ideology influence that rooted in understanding the Bible literally affected the discourses in KMK community that eventually the religious understanding and movement has fundamental character.

The existence of Aisyiyah Kindergarten (Aisyiyah bustanul Athfal) and Muhammadiyah Elementary School at Mlangi Sleman Yogyakarta, where the majority of the community are from Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), that cause some social conflicts. However, the Aisyiyah Kindergarten and Muhammadiyah Elementary School are still be the favorite school at Mlangi. In fact, there are 23 pesantren based on NU, Masyitoh Kindergarten, 2 islamic elementary school belong to an-Nasyat and al-Falahiyah and NU Elementary School. This research discussed on obstacles, conflict, format of solutions, and development strategy of Aisyiyah Kindergarten and Muhammadiyah Elementary School at Mlangi. This research is a qualitative study used in-depth interview, observation, and documentation. The results showed the barriers and conflicts experienced by Aisyiyah Kindergarten and Muhammadiyah Elementary School in Mlangi, they are: parents’ low attention on formal education, clash of school activities and pesantren activities, limited infrastructure, limited human resources, negative thinking of Mlangi community on Aisyiyah Kindergarten and Muhammadiyah Elementary School, the difference in religious teaching, and the new admission competition. Development strategy of Aisyiah Kindergarten and Muhammadiyah Elementary School in Mlangi include imaging, increasing extra curricular program, improving infrastructure facilities, accomodating local culture, and providing tolerance and accomodation for students with different culture.

Socio-religious conflicts that occurred in Tanjungbalai City allegedly caused by the establishment of Buddha Statue. This research aims to reveal how relations between Muslim and Buddhist in Tanjungbalai. This study classified as qualitative research. Fact were obtained through observation, interviews, and document review. The results showed social conflict occurred after the establishment of Buddha Statue. Tanjungbalai as one of “China town”, to trigger the social jealousy. In addition to the economic factors are controlled by China, Tanjungbalai City the majority of Muslims, did not accept the establishment of 6 metre tall Buddha Statue that was on the fourth floor of the building Vihara Tri Ratna. Muslims aliancy movement asking for removal of the statue. Buddhists being defensive and worried that the Malays (Muslims) think that the Buddhist same with “the Chinese”.

Women and their religiosity are questioned along with the proliferation of conflict, violence, and religion-based riots which allegedly involving ‘husband’ suspected terrorists. This article discusses the religiosity of the wives, the adjustment of wives of suspected terrorists against psychological and social burden, and the patterns of marital relations of terrorist suspects in Pekalongan-Central Java. The result of this phenomenological study revealed that the religiosity of terrorist-suspects’ wives are more dominant is exclusive patterned- if it is compared to moderate or inclusive ones. In terms of adjustment, the wives are just accept the fate and tend to be indifferent to the activities of their husbands. The wives also nullifying the public’s negative perception and judgment, but some are closed to the social interaction. While the pattern of relationships that were frequently built tent to be more owner property and head-complement in characteristics. Wives are positioned as husband’s complement for all activities in the fields of social, religious and political.
