Background & Objectives: The present study was conducted to find out a stain material that can retain its color in acrylic for a long period, by assessing its chemical interaction with the parent material and to evaluate the color stability of commonly used acrylic resin-stain combinations after exposure to weathering. Method: This experiment was carried out on PMMA-stain combination specimens. The acrylic blocks were divided into two categories. Scrapings from first category were subjected to spectroscopy to determine the interaction of the four PMMA-stain combinations at molecular level. And scrapings from second category were tested with spectrophotometer after being subjected to weathering. The comparison between the graphs obtained was made using absorbance variance. Results: Glass paint, acrylic emulsion, and organic dye produce changes which are evident in the spectrograph. Fabric paint does not produce much change in the spectrograph. Before and after subjecting the acrylic resin-fabric paint combination to natural weathering, suggest that the colorant is most stable. On the contrary organic dye and glass paint are least stable of all the four stains. Conclusion: The addition of colors to PMMA for staining definitely produces changes in the structure of the PMMA at the molecular level. The addition of inorganic group stains produce change but which are insignificant, whereas the addition of organic group stains produce changes at the molecular level which are significant. Inorganic coloring agent (fabric paint) was the most color stable over time whereas the organic colorants (glass paint, acrylic emulsion, organic dye) were the least color stable.

Implant dentistry is the branch of dentistry gaining popularity among dentist as well as in patient, which provide a clinical solution in cases of distal extention edentulousness, where conventional approaches fails to provide fixed treatment. Furthermore it is more conservative in terms of conventional FPD where tooth prepration is mandatory. Long-term predictability of implant restoration are well established, however agreement to prefer between screw-retained and cement retained restorations is always a topic of debate, which depends upon passivity of the framework, interarch space, occlusion, esthetics and loading characteristics. While cement retained restoration are better than screw in aspect of margin adaptation, occlusion, esthetics, passivity and cost reduction. But the major concern for the cement retained implant restoration is difficulty of retrievability, so it is very important to decide which type of cement should be used with different implant abutment characteristics such as abutment height, occlusal force, abutment surface characteristics and type of cement. Achieving a harmonious balance between mentioned factors can help us to achieve a cement retained prosthesis which can be retrieved without compromising survivability of the prosthesis.

Diagnosis of pigmented lesions of the mouth and oral mucosal tissues is challenging. Even though epidemiology may be of some help in orientating the clinician and even though some lesions can be diagnosed on clinical grounds alone, the definitive diagnosis requires histopathological examination. We report a case of pigmented fungiform papillae on the tongue secondary to iron deficiency anaemia. After extensive literature search we found very few cases of pigmented fungiform papillae on the tongue due to iron deficiency anaemia in paediatric population. Hence here we report a 12-year-old male presented with patchy pigmented areas on his tongue of 4 years duration. We gave iron plus folic acid tablets for 6 months with complete disappearance of the lesions.

Talon cusp is a rare developmental abnormality of the tooth characterized by presenting usually on the palatal/lingual surface of anterior teeth as a cusp like projections. The crown of the tooth is covered by normal enamel and dentin, with a cusp like projection that may or may not contain an extension of pulp. Presence of talon cusp on the facial surface of an anterior tooth is rare and literature shows that only few cases have been reported earlier. In this case we present a facial talon cusp on the maxillary right lateral incisor of a 15 year old girl.

Syphilis is re-emerging as a leading sexually transmitted disease among patients living with acquired immune deficiency syndrome [AIDS]. Dental practitioners are very often seen oral abnormality in the form of palatal perforation but it is very unlikely to see palatal perforation as sole manifestation of tertiary syphilis. Here we present a 36 years old male patient presented with hard palate perforation without any other oral or systemic complaints. Purpose of this case report is to aware dentist about emergence of syphilis as a cause of oral cavity ailment.
