The study is devoted to clarifying the biographies of the New Martyrs Nikolai and Varvara Chernyshevs, canonized in 2018, as well as their closest relatives. On the basis of the newly discovered facts, it turned out that their officially recognized biography, broadcast by the workers of the museum of history and culture of the city of Votkinsk, clergymen and local historians, has a number of inaccuracies. The result of the study was the conclusion that the priest of the Annunciation Cathedral in the Sarapul district of the Vyatka province Nikolai Andreevich Chernyshev had the rank of priest, but he was never an archpriest and rector of the Annunciation Cathedral, and he served as dean of the Votkinsk and Galev volosts from 1914 to the end of 1916 − early 1917. The article reveals the history of some surviving houses in the city of Votkinsk of the Udmurt Republic associated with this family, in particular, for the first time in Votkinsk historiography, the time of construction of the houses of the priest Andrei Ivanovich Chernyshev, archpriest of the Annunciation Cathedral from 1888 to 1895, is specified. And also lists all the archpriests who served as rectors of the Cathedral of the Annunciation after Fr. Andrey Chernyshev and before the beginning of the Civil War.
