In the article authors describe methods of geoinformational modeling of indexes of natural conditions of river catchment basins for the purpose of the causative analysis. Authors consider the degree of variability of indexes of the river runoff in space and time on example river basins of Lesser Caucasus within the Azerbaijan borders.

The author has shown that the daily impact of tide-forming forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun on water masses in the equatorial zone forms long-period Rossby waves with the resulting transferring from east to west. Wave flows reach continental shores and diverge northward and southward. Thus, separate anti-cyclonic circulations form in the northern and southern parts of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans. The daily impact of tide-forming forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun on water masses outside the equatorial zone forms large-scale cyclonic circulation in the northern and southern parts of three oceans. The same circulations form in closed and border seas and large lakes.
