This article attempts to examine the experience of finding new forms of integration in the post-soviet area, based on the principles of ensuring the national security of Russia and its allies. Notes that following the collapse of the Soviet Union many political forces did not take any steps to preserve the territorial integrity of the State, and the processes taking place in the post-soviet area was a logical consequence of this trend. However, the integration process of the Commonwealth of independent States, began relatively recently, creates favourable conditions for the formation of new political and economic blocs, one of which is the Eurasian Economic Union, as referred to in article.
