Wind energy has become ever more popular in recent decades. With its increasing penetration, requirements for grid connection have been established. Among these requirements, the low voltage ride through capability is regarded as the most challenging requirement found in wind generators which are integrated into the grid. The induction generators are behaving differently for symmetrical and asymmetrical faults. In this the brushless doubly fed induction generator (BDFIG) is used because of its lower cost and higher reliability when compared with DFIG. This paper explains about the dynamic behaviour of BDFIG under symmetrical and asymmetrical low voltage dips supported by MATLAB simulations is provided.

Nowadays, the efficient use of renewable sources is more significant to decrease the cost for generating electricity. In this view, Micro-Grid has the ability to make use of various energy sources and supply as a single device to reach the preferred objectives. The drawback in scheduling the available generation and storage capacities in a microgrid on account of existence of renewable sources with a goal to optimize the generation cost is considered in the paper. Two scenarios are created by utilizing the verified uncertainty model due to uncertainty in available generation from renewable sources and loads. AWCPSO (Adaptive weight control particle swarm optimization) technique is employed to work out the optimization portion. The aimed method is examined on a statistical example consisting of conventional and renewable generators. The outcomes acquired from the aimed method are evidence for the utilization of low-priced generators to the coverage of 100% and remaining generators utilized in the reducing percentage with raising their generation cost. Power taken from grid in the statistical example is consumed very carefully as it is high-priced source. The planned algorithm gives the best possible answer for scheduling the generators and it also realize load discarding if required. The generation cost acquired by the proposed method is less than by using the AFS (Artificial fish swarm) intelligence technique.

Use of Renewable energy sources for power production is increasing day by day. In this paper Fuzzy Neural Network is proposed to get regulated power from the renewable energy sources. A stand-alone hybrid power generation system consisting of solar and PMSG with AC load is designed in this paper. Additionally P & O algorithm for Solar and Hill climbing search algorithm for Wind are used as the control logic for the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). The proposed controller for inverter is intended to keep the load voltage and frequency as constant regardless of the renewable power generation. Comparative Simulation results with Fuzzy logic controller for inverter show the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

For fast detection of faults, wavelet entropy based fault detection scheme is proposed in this paper and tested its performance on long transmission line power network. For extraction of frequency components, discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is used. Since the fault transient phenomena are clearly identified by daubechies family, db4 coefficients are used for calculation of entropies. This scheme later tested on the transmission line network with various types of faults at different fault locations, inception angles, and fault resistances. All these cases are investigated in MATLAB-SIMULINK software environment.

Quality (PQ) maintenance has become an important concern to utility. Shunt Active Power Filters (SAPF) is considered as the best device among many harmonics compensating devices. Due to electrical energy demand, the power generation is also became an important concern. Among various renewable energy sources, solar energy is considered as best source for converting into electrical energy. The shunt compensator compensates for harmonics of load current, improves power factor, overcomes voltage sags, reduces total Harmonic Distortion (THD), etc., and thus enhances the power quality. Proportional Integral (PI), Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) based control algorithm is used for SAPF. A synchronous reference frame (SRF) algorithm is used for improving the SAPF performance. The proposed system is implemented in Matlab/Simulink environment and the simulation results exhibit the high value performance for micro grid applications.
