Jwara is considered as prime importance among all the diseases. Jwara itself is not only a disease but it is also a main symptom present in various diseases. Jwara is considered as first originated from ferocious wrath of Rudra (Lord Shiva) as described in Charaka Samhita. Ayurveda holds that Jwara is not nearly the increase in body temperature but also a feeling of Malaise, Unease and Discomfort and involves the Deha, Indriya and Mana. In Jwara dosas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) alone or in combination with each other spreads through Rasa dhatu dislodge the Jatharagni from its normal place and it results in increase of whole body temperature. Ayurveda belongs to apply an holistic approach to treat any disease with Aahara-Vihara and Ausdha. In this article importance of Diet in Jwara Chikitsha according to its stages like Aamaj and Niraamaj is described along with properties of various food materials which are given during these stages.

Rasa Shastra and Bhaishjya Kalpana is a pharmaceutical field of Ayurveda which is concerned with preparation of herbal and herbomineral formulations. There are many pharmaceutical preparations mentioned in Rasa Shastra and Bhaishjya Kalpana classics. Malahar kalpana is one of them which may contain siktha taila, siktha, sarjarasa or ghritta as base material. It was lately introduced by Acharya Yogratnakar in Ayurveda pharmaceutics. It is widely used ointment preparation with many advantages. Gandhakadya Malahar is mentioned in 8th Taranga of Rasa Tarangini by Acharya Sadanand Sharma. It is a herbomineral formulation which comprises of siktha taila, shudha gandhaka, girisindur,shudha tankan and karpura. It is intended to be used externally for dermatological problems especially for pama according to Rasa Tarangini.

Obesity is a complex, chronic disease with several causes that lead to excessive body fat and sometimes, poor health body fat itself is not a disease, of course. But when your body has too much extra fat, it can change the way it functions. These changes can worsen over time, and they can lead to adverse health effects. Ayurveda has described obesity as Sthoulya and Acharya Charaka, Shusruta and Vaghbhata have described the causes, symptoms and treatment in dedicated chapter. They have described the root cause of sthoulya as improper eating habits, lack of exercise and physical work i.e apthyakar ahara vihara. Along with its symptoms and treatment they have also mentioned different ahariya dravyas to be given to the patient of sthoulya as it is closely related to digestive system. This article discusses about the details of obesity described in various texts of ayurveda. In this article different shamana aushadhis along with its shodhana treatment has been given to the patient and relief in sign and symptoms along with its pre and post assessment like weight and BMI has been discussed and result obtained is given. hence it is proved that ayurvedic treatment can be effectively used in the management of obesity.

Physical appearance is very important for being confident and has a great impact on quality of life. Psoriasis is a disease affecting one's appearance physically and mentally. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition that can affect any part of the body. There are many factors affecting psoriasis like age, occupation, diet, living habits, etc. Ayurveda which includes a holistic approach to all diseases proves to be very effective in treating diseases like psoriasis. Psoriasis can be correlated with Ekakushtha as explained in Ayurvedic texts. In Ayurveda, all skin diseases are considered under one heading i.e. Kushtha. Ayurveda says that Kushtha is a Tridoshaja disease which can be further differentiated according to a predominant Dosha which can be identified after history taking and symptoms. Scalp Psoriasis is one such disease that affects the scalp with symptoms like pain, scaling, bleeding, and crust formation. Ayurveda provides a very satisfactory treatment protocol to treat such diseases which includes Shodhan, Shamana & topical treatments like Takradhara, Shiropichu, and Lepa chikitsa. This case of scalp Psoriasis was treated with pure Ayurvedic management. In this case of scalp psoriasis Nidanparivarjana i.e. stopping causative factors which included dietary changes as well as lifestyle changes, Shodhan chikitsa i.e. Virechana, Siravedh was done, Shamana chikitsa with Ayurvedic medicines and then Rasayan chikitsa to improve the strength of Rakta i.e. Raktaprasadan was done. Other treatment includes Takradhara and Shiropichu. The above was carried out for 30 days which showed drastic improvement in the patient.

Conceptual Study on Vataja Kasa as Pulmonary Eosinophilia: A Critical Review

Eosinophilic inflammation is one of the hallmarks of allergic disease, and accumulation of eosinophils in affected tissues is a feature of diseases such as allergic rhinitis, asthma etc. Pulmonary Eosinophilia (PE) is pulmonary infiltration with increased eosinophilic count in peripheral blood. Environmental pollutants are shown to have alarming consequences for human health and they have important effects related to environmental pollution and the origin of hypersensitivity and pollen allergy. Vataja Kasa (~cough caused by Vata dosha) which is stated to be caused due to Dhumopaghata (~affected by Smoke), Rajah sevana (~inhalation of dust, pollen) can be understood as Pulmonary eosinophilia to diagnose and manage the disease effectively in a clinical setup. Hence, there is a need to understand etiology, clinical features, diagnosis and management of Vataja Kasa in relation to PE. Dry paroxysmal cough, myalgia, chest pain, flanks pain etc are the main clinical features of Vataja Kasa. Investigations, history taking, clinical features are necessary to establish the diagnosis. Interventions used for PE are anthhelminthics, anti-inflammatory and corticosteroids which have adverse effects and reoccurs if medicines are discontinued. Here Ayurveda (~science of life) have a role in treating PE with Krimigna (~medicine which kills worms), Shodhana (~detoxification therapy), Kasashwasahara (~therapy which alleviates respiratory disease) drugs and rasayana chikitsa (~rejuvenation therapy).

Saiddhantic Interventional Panchkarma Chikitsa in Management of Pakshaghata w.s.r to Hemiplegia

The upper motor neuron disease where half of the body become Paralysed, is Hemiplegia. Stroke is one of the main reasons for Hemiplegia. Symptomatology of hemiplegia incorporate impaired motor skills, difficulty in grasping or holding objects, weakness of muscles or stiffness on one side of the body with or without deviation of mouth. A 58yr old male patient with k/c/o hypertension came to OPD with complaint of loss of movement of both Lt upper limb & lower limb, with slurred speech and with deviation of mouth, fever with expectoration of cough since 15 days. He was diagnosed as Vama Pakshaghata Panchakarma therapy i.e Snehan, Swedan, Bruhan, yapan Basti, ShiroPichu, Nasya, jivha Pratisaran along a vachadi yog, Agnilepa, were done along with internal Ayurvedic medicine with appropriate hemiplegic exercises Patient was admitted in our institute for 42 days and showed significant improvement in the objective parameters.

A Randomised Controlled Clinical Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of Meshashringadi Kashaya in Gridhrasi w.s.r. to Sciatica

Background: Gridhrasi is one among the 80 types of Naanatmaja Vatavyadhi. Lakshanas of Gridhrasi are Stambha, Ruk, Toda in Sphik, Kati, Prushtha, Uru, Jaanu, Jangha, Paada i.e. radiating pain from hip or gluteal region to either to thigh, knee, calf or till to the region of foot. The Lakshanas mentioned in Gridhrasi are similar to as that of Sciatica. Sciatica is a crippling disease, in which the patient experiences shooting pain and paraesthesia along the course of the sciatic nerve roots which are involved. This clinical study has been opted, to find out the therapeutic efficacy of Meshashringadi Kashaya in comparison with the efficacy of Sahacharadi Kashaya in case of Gridhrasi, as per the references available in ayurvedic classical literatures. Materials and Methods: A randomised controlled clinical study was conducted among 60 subjects, they were randomly allocated into two equal groups, Group A and Group B. Group A subjects received Meshashringadi Kashaya and Group B subjects received Sahacharadi Kashaya. The effect of these interventions were assessed through the grading scales of Subjective and Objective parameters. Result: The statistical analysis within the group has shown a highly statistical significant results with P<0.001 for all parameters in both the groups, i.e. in Group A and in Group B. On statistical comparison between the two groups, it was found that there is no statistical significant difference between the therapeutic effect of Meshashringadi Kashaya and Sahacharadi Kashaya in case of Gridhrasi.
