Bu çalışmanın amacı 19. yüzyılda Osmanlı Devleti’nde yetişmiş bir askeri doktorun hayatını ortaya çıkarmak, onun sergüzeşti üzerinden bu yüzyıldaki yenilikleri takip etmek ve kaleme aldığı Hıfzıssıhha adlı eserini değerlendirmektir. Halid İzzet Bey (ö.1922) 19. yüzyılda yetişmiş bir Osmanlı askeri doktorudur ve cerrahtır. Bu yüzyıl Osmanlı Devleti’nde hem askeri alanda hem tıp alanında gelişmelerin yaşandığı bir dönemdir. Halid İzzet Bey, Mekteb-i İdadi-i Tıbbiye-i Şahane’de (Tıp Lisesi) okumuş, oradan modern tıp eğitimi verilen Mekteb-i Tıbbiye-i Şahane’de tahsilini tamamlamıştır. Haydarpaşa Askeri Hastanesi’nde, Hamidiye Etfal Hastanesi’nde ve Darülaceze’de görev yapmış, memuriyetinin son yıllarında Makedonya’da İştib Hastanesi’nde çalışmıştır. Tercüme ettiği iki kitaba ek olarak, telif ettiği “Hıfzıssıhha” adlı eseri, onun toplum sağlığı konusunda sorumluluk alan bir hekim olduğunu göstermektedir. Eserini kaleme almasındaki amacı, ders kitabı olarak okutulmasıdır ve hedef kitlesi orta kademedeki öğrencilerdir. Eserde gençlerin hem içinde bulundukları yaşı sağlıklı geçirmeleri için yapmaları gerekenler sıralanmakta, hem de ileriki yaşamlarında evlilik ve ebeveynlik ile ilgili dikkat etmeleri gereken konular anlatılmaktadır. Modern tıp eğitimi almış bir tabibin, eserinin bazı bölümlerinin teorik alt yapısını Hipokrat’tan o güne değin süregelen hümoral patoloji üzerine kurması, çağındaki bakteriyolojik gelişmeleri takip etmekle beraber bu gelişmeleri miyazmacı bir perspektiften yorumlaması eserde dikkat çeken hususlardır. Bu yaklaşım da çağın ruhunu yansıtan güzel bir örnektir. The aim of this study is to reveal the life of a military doctor who grew up in the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century, to follow the innovations in this century through his story and to evaluate his work titled Hıfzıssıhha. Halid İzzet Bey (d.1922) was an Ottoman military doctor and surgeon who grew up in the 19th century. This century was a period of developments in both the military and medical fields in the Ottoman Empire. Halid İzzet Bey studied at Mekteb-i İdadi-i Tıbbiye-i Şahane (Medical High School) and then completed his education at Mekteb-i Tıbbiye-i Şahane, where modern medicine was taught. He worked at Haydarpaşa Military Hospital, Hamidiye Etfal Hospital and Darülaceze, and in the last years of his civil service, he worked at Istib Hospital in Macedonia. In addition to the two books he translated, his work titled “Hıfzıssıhha” (Sanitation) shows that he was a doctor who took responsibility for public health. The aim of his work is to be taught as a textbook and its target audience is middle level students. The work lists the things that young people should do in order to spend their current age in good health, as well as the issues they should pay attention to regarding marriage and parenthood in their later life. It is noteworthy that a physician trained in modern medicine bases some parts of his work on humoral pathology, which has been going on since Hippocrates, and interprets these developments from a miasmatic perspective, while following the bacteriological developments of his time. This approach is a good example reflecting the spirit of the age.

Bu makale, 17. yüzyıl boyunca Osmanlı taşrasında müftülük yapmış âlimlerin görev yaptıkları medreselere odaklanmaktadır. Osmanlı merkezi tarafından resmi olarak müftü ve müderrislik pozisyonlarına atanan âlimlerin atama kayıtları ruus defterlerinde yer almaktadır. Bu kayıtlardan yola çıkarak müftülerin vazife yaptıkları medreseler tespit edilmiş ve Osmanlı medrese tarihi açısından incelemeye tabi tutulmuştur. Osmanlı öncesi ve sonrası farklı dönemlerde ve farklı kişiler tarafından Anadolu, Rumeli ve Arap coğrafyasında inşa ettirilen bu medreseler vâkıflarının şartlarına göre hizmet veriyorlardı. Zengin vakıf gelirleri, banilerinin önemli şahsiyetler olmaları ve müderrislerine sunduğu imkânlarla bulundukları şehirlerdeki diğer medreselerden ayrılıyorlardı. Osmanlı merkezi bu medreseleri müftülere tahsis ederek mütevellileri tarafından vakfiye şartlarına göre idare edilen medreselerin yönetimine ortak olmuş oldu. This article focuses on the madrasas, where scholars served as mufti in the Ottoman province during the 17th century. The appointment records of the scholars who were officially appointed to the positions of mufti and mudarris by the Ottoman center are included in the ruus registers. Based on these records, the madrasas where muftis served were determined and examined in terms of Ottoman madrasa history. These madrasas, built by different people in different periods in Anatolia, Rumelia, and Arabian geography before and after the Ottoman Empire, served according to the conditions of their foundations. They were distinguished from other madrasas in the cities with their rich foundation income, their benefactors being essential personalities, and the opportunities they offered to their professors. By allocating these madrasas to muftis, the Ottoman center became a partner in managing them, which their trustees administered according to the endowment conditions.

20. yüzyılda dünyada yaşanan gelişmeler siyonizm akımının güç ve taraftar kazanmasını sağlamakla birlikte siyonistlerin var güçleriyle Filistin’e yönelmelerine de neden olmuştur. Osmanlı Yahudi toplumunun bir kısmını etkisi altına alan bu akım sadece teorik bir bilgi değil aynı zamanda uygulamaya dönüşen bir ideoloji hâline de dönüşmüştür. Bu akıma mensup Yahudiler, birçok alanda olduğu gibi casusluk faaliyetleri yürüterek Yahudi Devleti’nin kurulmasına gayret göstermişlerdir. Bu çerçevede Filistin’de bulunan casus Spira Ailesi’nin faaliyetleri önem arz etmektedir. Almanya’dan Osmanlı Lahey Sefareti’ne gönderilen bir mektupla deşifre edilen Spira Ailesi, Filistin’de siyonizm lehine siyasi, ekonomik ve toplumsal olduğu kadar askeri faaliyetlerde de bulunmuştur. Ne var ki bu faaliyet sahası Filistin ile sınırlı kalmamış, Almanya, İngiltere ve Hollanda’ya da yayılmıştır. Zamansal olarak Birinci Dünya Savaşı’ndan önce casusluk faaliyetlerine başlayan Spira Ailesi, savaş boyunca aktif durumda kalmıştır. Bu faaliyetlerinin 1918 yılı Mart ayına kadar sürdüğü ve bu tarihlerde 4. Ordu’ya bağlı istihbarat birimlerinin operasyonu ile ailenin etkisiz hale getirildiği anlaşılmıştır. Bu çalışmada Birinci Dünya Savaşı sürecinde Osmanlı Devleti’nde ve farklı ülkelerde organize olan Spira Ailesi’nin casusluk faaliyetleri Osmanlı arşiv vesikaları ışığında incelenmiştir. While the developments in the world in the 20th century enabled the Zionist movement to gain strength and support, it also caused the Zionists to turn to Palestine with all their might. This movement, which influenced a part of the Ottoman Jewish community, was not only a theoretical knowledge, but also an ideology that turned into practice. Jews belonging to this movement, as well as in many other fields, carried out activities in the field of espionage and endeavored to establish the Jewish State. In this context, the activities of the spy Spira family in Palestine are important. The Spira family who were deciphered in a letter sent from Germany to the Ottoman Hague Embassy, engaged in political, economic and social as well as military activities in favor of Zionism in Palestine. However, this field of activity was not limited to Palestine but also spread to Germany, England and the Netherlands. The Spira family who started its espionage activities before the First World War, remained active throughout the war. It was understood that these activities continued until March 1918 and that they were neutralized by the operation of the intelligence units of the 4th Army. Yabancı posta meselesi, çok yönlü bir olgu olarak 20. yüzyılın başlarına kadar dünya genelinde büyük yankı uyandırmıştır. Avrupalı devletlerin yayılmacı politikalarının önemli bir bileşeni ve neticesi olan yabancı postaneler, Osmanlı Devleti’ni de derinden etkilemiştir. Batılı posta idareleri uzun yıllar müddetince Osmanlı yerleşimlerinde faaliyet göstermiştir. Osmanlı Devleti, Batılı postaların kendi aralarında rekabette bulunduğu ülke olarak da ön plana çıkmıştır. Ticari ve sosyal bir zeminde faaliyet zemini bulmuş yabancı postaneler zaman içerisinde siyasi bir boyut kazanmıştır. Batılı tarzda teşkilatlanmaya ilk kez 1840 tarihinde giden Osmanlı Devleti, kendi topraklarındaki posta varlığını ve birikimini kurumsal bir temele oturtarak yerli posta yetkinliğine yoğunlaşmıştır. Bu girişim, Avrupalı posta idareleri nezdinde kabul görmemiştir. 1860 sonrasında yoğunluk ve süreklilik kazanmış kapatma girişimlerinin geçerli bir temele dayanmadığı öne sürülmüştür, zira onlara göre Osmanlı Posta Teşkilatı uluslararası posta hizmeti sağlayabilecek yapısal dönüşümü henüz tam anlamıyla tesis edememişti. Osmanlı pazarındaki faaliyetlerini sonlandırma noktasında koşul öne süren Avrupalı devletlerin operasyonel yetkinliğe işaret etmesi sonrasında içerideki ve dışarıdaki temaslarını arttıran Osmanlı Devleti, Bern’de 22 devletin iştirakiyle düzenlenen ilk uluslararası posta kongresinde yer almıştır. Kongre bitiminde, 9 Ekim 1874’te imzalanan Evrensel Posta Sözleşmesi’yle kurulan Evrensel Posta Birliği’nin kurucu üyesi olarak iki yıl gibi kısa süre içerisinde uluslararası posta hizmeti icra edebilir hâle gelmiştir. Avrupalı devletlerin eksikliğini koz olarak kullandıkları en kritik koşulu da yerine getiren Osmanlı Devleti, buna rağmen kesin çözüm elde edememiştir. Bu süreç zarfında Avrupa basınında siyasi, ekonomik ve sosyal açılardan ele alınma lüzumu bulunan posta haberleri üretilmiştir. Bu içerikler, henüz kapsamlı ve bir bütün olarak akademik bir çalışmanın konusu olabilmiş değildir. Gazeteler haricinde yabancı literatürde Osmanlı Devleti’ni posta bağlamında hedef alan içeriklere ilişkin bir karşı yaklaşım da şekillenmemiştir. Bu makale hem bu bağlamdaki açığa temas ederek hem de yabancı gazetelerdeki içeriklerin posta perspektifinden ele alınıp alınmadığını irdeleyerek literatürdeki eksikliğe dikkat çekmeyi amaçlamaktadır. As a multifaceted fact the foreign post incident had a great repercussion throughout the world until the early parts of the 20th century. Foreign post offices, an integral component and consequence of the expansionist policies of European states, had a significant impact on the Ottoman Empire. Western postal administrations conducted operations within Ottoman settlements for an extended period. The Ottoman Empire also came to the fore as a country where European postal administrations competed among themselves. Foreign post offices, initially established on the basis of commercial and social considerations, eventually gained a political dimension. The Ottoman Empire, which adopted a Western-style postal system in 1840, prioritized the development of its domestic postal infrastructure as a matter of institutional policy. However, this initiative was met with resistance from European postal administrations who sought to maintain their presence within Ottoman territory. Despite objections to the perceived lack of structural transformation and operational competence within the Ottoman Postal Administration, the Empire’s participation in the inaugural international postal congress in Bern in 1874 marked a significant turning point. Becoming a founding member of the Universal Post-al Union enabled the Ottoman Empire to provide international postal services within two years, fulfilling a critical requirement for membership that had been leveraged by European States. Nonetheless, this did not resolve all of the Empire’s issues related to foreign postal services, which continued to be a source of political, economic, and social contention. Although the European press extensively covered this topic, a comprehensive academic study has yet to be undertaken. In addition, little attention has been given in foreign literature to alternative perspectives on the issue of foreign postal services in the Ottoman Empire. This article aims to point out the gap in the literature by examining the foreign press’s coverage of the Ottoman Empire’s postal system and exploring alternative approaches to this topic.

Prens Erfauddevle Mirza Rıza Dâniş Han (1854-1930), İran’ın göçmen ailelerinden birine mensup üst düzey görevlerde bulunmuş bir zattır. Emir subaylığı, büyükelçilik danışmanlığı, dışişleri bakanlığı, başbakanlık ve elçilik yaptığı görevler arasındadır. Erfauddevle Tahran’da ihtiyaç sahibi öğrencilerin eğitimine katkıda bulunmak amacıyla okul kurmuş bir hayırsever, İstanbul’a göç eden İranlıların isteklerini üst makamlara iletmede İran’ın resmi bir temsilcisidir. Örnek kişiliğinin yanında Erfauddevle iyi bir edebiyatçıdır. “Rüşdiye” adıyla alfabenin ıslahı konusunda bir risale yazmış ve bu risale İstanbul’da basılmıştır. Dönemin gazetelerinde yazdığı yazılar ve kitaplar dışında şiire olan tutkusunu okuyarak ve mesneviler yazarak göstermiştir. Bunlardan biri İstanbul’da büyükelçi iken yazdığı iki yüz beyitlik bir mesnevidir. Diğer bir mesnevi de Erfauddevle’nin 1899 yılında Lahey şehrinde sözcü olarak katıldığı konferansta, “Barış Mesnevîsi” adıyla okuduğu, bizim de üzerinde çalıştığımız mesnevidir. Farsça yazılmış olan bu mesnevi, Mustafa Reşit Paşa (1277/1861-1355/1936) tarafından tercüme edilmiştir. Mustafa Reşit Paşa, İstanbul’da Maarif Nezareti dairelerinde mümeyyizlik ve müdürlük yapmış bir şairdir ve yazdığı risalelerle meşhur olmuştur, pek çok eseri bulunmaktadır. Erfauddevle’nin Mesnevi-i Tûl-i ‘Omr-i Tabiî-i İnsan ve Âvâze-i Bezm-i Sulh-i Lahey isimli Farsça mesnevilerini Osmanlı alfabesi ile manzum olarak tercüme etmiştir. İlk mesnevi hakkında bir yüksek lisans tezi yapılmış ve eser tanıtılmıştır. İkinci mesnevi hakkında ise akademik bir çalışma yoktur. Bu amaçla mesnevi Farsça metni ve Osmanlıca tercümesi ile ortaya konmuş, İranlı sefir, şair kimliğiyle tanıtılmıştır.

Kavramsal metafor teorisine göre metafor, bir kavramı başka bir kavram üzerinden anlamak ve deneyimlemektir. Diğer bir deyişle bir deneyim alanını (genellikle soyut olan), bir başkası (genellikle somut olan) açısından anlamaktır. Bu çalışmada Evliya Çelebi Seyahatnamesinde mutluluk ve üzüntü metaforları kavramsal metafor teorisi kapsamında incelenmiştir. Elde edilen metafor örnekleri yapısal, yönelim ve varlık metaforları olmak üzere türlerine göre tasnif ve tahlil edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak dillerde duygular gibi soyut alanların (hedef alan), kendilerine göre daha somut alanlar (kaynak alan) üzerinden algılandığı ve deneyimlendiği görülmüştür. Modern bir kuram olan kavramsal metafor teorisinin diller üzerindeki evrensel bu yaklaşımı 17. yüzyılda yazılmış bir eser üzerinde incelemeye tabi tutulmuş ve kuramı destekleyici sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. According to conceptual metaphor theory, metaphor is understanding and experiencing a concept through another concept. In other words, it is understanding one field of experience (usually abstract) in terms of another (usually concrete). In this study, metaphors of happiness and sadness in Evliya Çelebi’s Seyahatname were examined within the scope of conceptual metaphor theory. The obtained metaphor examples were classified and analyzed according to their types as structural, orientational and ontological. As a result, it was observed that abstract domains such as emotions (target domain) in languages are perceived and experienced through more concrete domains (source domain). This universal approach of conceptual metaphor theory, which is a modern theory, on languages was analyzed on a work written in the 17th century and results supporting the theory were obtained.

Çocukluk dönemindeki ebeveyn-çocuk iletişimlerinin yaşamın ileriki yıllarına olan etkisini vurgulayan Şema Terapi’ye giderek artan akademik ve klinik ilgi söz konusudur. Bu ilgi son on yılda şemaların nesiller arası aktarımı ile ilgili çalışmalarını da kapsamaktadır. Çocukların şemalarının oluşumuna en büyük etkiyi yapan ebeveynlerin, ebeveynlik davranışlarının da kendi şemalarından etkileniyor olması varsayımı bu çalışmaların arkasındaki temel varsayımlardan biri olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında incelenen, farklı örneklem büyüklükleri ve özelliklerine sahip araştırmaların bulguları şemaların nesiller arası geçişine ilişkin önemli kanıtlar sunmaktadır. Bu geçişte etkili olabilecek çeşitli değişkenlerin giderek daha fazla araştırma desenlerine dahil edilmesi, konunun giderek daha ayrıntılı ve derinlemesine incelenmesine olan ihtiyacı işaret etmektedir. Nesiller arası şema geçişinin boylamsal ve nitel desenlerle de araştırılmasının alandaki eksiklikleri kapatacağı düşünülmüştür. There is an increasing academic and clinical interest in Schema Therapy, which emphasizes the impact of parent-child interactions during childhood on later life. This interest also includes the studies conducted on the intergenerational transmission of schemas in the past decade. One of the fundamental assumptions behind these studies is the assumption that the parental behaviors of the parents, who have the biggest influence on the formation of the child’s schemas, are also influenced by their own schemas. The findings of the studies with different sample sizes and characteristics examined in this study provide significant evidence for the intergenerational transmission of schemas. The growing inclusion of various variables that may be influential in this transmission in research designs indicates the need for an increasingly more detailed and in-depth study of the subject. It is believed that investigating the intergenerational transmission of schemas with longitudinal and qualitative patterns will help fix the shortcomings in the field.

The square kufıc (ma’ qıli) calligraphy, frequently employed as early as the 11th century in the architecture of the Great Seljuks and Anatolian Seljuks periods, gradually yielded its place to other calligraphic styles and penwork embellishments in Ottoman constructions. Conversely, compared to other script forms, an insufficient body of scientific research is dedicated to the accurate comprehension and thorough recognition of ma’qili calligraphic art. This unique calligraphic style, which is not traditionally imparted within conventional calligraphy education and is currently witnessing renewed interest in Islamic architecture and art across various countries, necessitates comprehensive studies to elucidate its nuanced reading and compositional logic. This article undertakes a detailed exploration of some Square Kufıc calligraphy from the era of Mimar Sinan in Istanbul to the period preceding Sinan’s time. In addition to analyzing the content and compositions of the inscriptions, specific errors and interpretations are also addressed. Büyük Selçuklu ve Anadolu Selçuklu eserlerinde sıkça kullanılan ma’kılî sanatı, Osmanlı yapılarında yerini diğer hat türlerine ve kalem işi süslemelere bırakmıştır. Buna mukabil diğer yazı çeşitlerine kıyasla, ma’kılî hat sanatının doğru okunması ve detaylarıyla tanınmasına yönelik bilimsel çalışmalar da yeterli seviyede değildir. Geleneksel hat eğitiminin icazet kültüründe de öğretilmeyen ve günümüzde farklı ülkelerdeki İslam mimarisi ve sanatında yeniden yaygın bir teveccüh gören ma’kılî hat sanatının detaylı okunuşu ve kompozisyon mantığına dair çalışmalara ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Bu makalede Türk İslam sanatı ve mimarisinde tarihi 11. yüzyıla kadar geri giden ma’kılî hattın, İstanbul’daki Mimar Sinan devri ve öncesindeki örneklerini detaylıca incelenmektedir. Yazıların içerik ve kompozisyonlarının analizini yanı sıra bazı hatalara ve yorumlara işaret edilmiştir.

In this paper, I would like to take into account some of the main elements that in my opinion forge Yunus Emre’s form of life and that are directly reflected in his Divan, one of the most important works of Turkish poetry written during the XIII and XIV centuries. Although we have little information about Yunus Emre’s life, we know for sure that he was a dervish, a person who followed the path of Sufism. I will investigate to what extent Yunus Emre’s Divan relates to his spiritual journey experiences. What can we understand about his life by reading his poetry? Did he write to witness his innermost experiences? Did he write to understand his journey toward the Ineffable Absolute (Hakk)? What is the relationship between his way of walking along the spiritual path and his conception of language? Bu makalede, Yunus Emre’nin yaşam biçimini oluşturan ve XIII. ve XIV. yüzyıllarda yazılmış en önemli Türk şiiri eserlerinden biri olan Divan’ına doğrudan yansıyan bazı ana unsurları dikkate almak istiyorum. Yunus Emre’nin hayatı hakkında çok az bilgiye sahip olsak da onun bir derviş, tasavvuf yolunu takip eden bir kişi olduğunu kesin olarak biliyoruz. Yunus Emre’nin Divan’ının onun manevi yolculuğundaki deneyimleriyle ne ölçüde ilişkili olduğunu araştıracağım. Şiirlerini okuyarak onun hayatı hakkında ne anlayabiliriz? En derin deneyimlerine tanıklık etmek için mi yazdı? Tarifsiz Öteki’ye (Hakk’a) doğru kendi yolculuğunu anlamak için mi yazdı? Manevi yolda yürüme biçimi ile dil anlayışı arasındaki ilişki nedir? Makalede bu soruların cevabı aranacaktır.

Düşünce adamları ve roman yazarlarının üzerinde hassasiyetle durduğu konulardan biri yaşamın anlamı, yaşamı algılama ve yorumlamadır. Alman feylesofu Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche’ye göre yaşamın kendisi “güç istenci”dir. “Güç istenci” hem pozitif hem de negatif bir anlama sahiptir. Zira canlı olan her varlıkta bir “güç istenci” görülmektedir. Hizmet edenin istencinde dahi “efendi” olma istenci vardır. Yalnız “güç istenci”nde bir eşitlik olmadığı için bazı insanlar daha güçlü, bazıları da daha zayıf ve cılızdır. “Aktif karakterdeki insan”ın yaşama bakış açısında mücadele, özgür irade, yaşamı olumlama, yaşamın bütün acılarına rağmen ona “evet” deme söz konusudur. Oysa “pasif karakterdeki insan”da düşüş, yeise kapılma ve yaşamı yadsıma vardır. Servet-i Fünûn romancısı Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil’in Mai ve Siyah adlı romanının başkahramanı Ahmet Cemil şöhret arzusuyla eserini vücuda getirmek, annesini ve kız kardeşi İkbal’i maddi sıkıntıdan azade yaşatmak ve sevdiği kız Lâmia ile evlenmek ister. Ancak bu hülyaların hemen hepsi hayal kırıklığı ile sonlanır. Ahmet Cemil’in mizacı ve yaşadığı hayal kırıklıkları onun yaşamı algılayış biçimine, yaşamı anlamlandırma tarzına tesir eder. Bu çalışmada başkahraman Ahmet Cemil’in mizacı, kız kardeşi İkbal’in ölümü, sevdiği kız Lâmia’nın bir başkasıyla evlenmesi, yazmak istediği eseri ve hayal kırıklıklarının sonucunda çöle gitmesi odağında Ahmet Cemil’in yaşamı algılama ve anlamlandırma tarzı Nietzsche’nin “yaşam istenci” kavramlaştırması üzerinden yeniden okunmaya çalışılacaktır. One of the issues that thinkers and novelists delicately focus on is the meaning of life, the perception of life, and the interpretation of life. According to the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, life itself is the “will to power”. The “will to power” has both a positive and a negative meaning. Yet the “will to power” is seen in every living being, even in the will of the servant there is the will to be the master. However, because there is no equality in the “will to power”, some people are stronger, while others are weaker. In the perspective of the life of “an active person”, there is a struggle, free will, an affirmation of life, and saying “yes” to life despite all the pain. Whereas the “passive person” is characterized by decline, despair, and denial of life. Ahmet Cemil, the protagonist of Servet-i Fünûn novelist Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil’s novel Mai ve Siyah, wants to bring his work to life with his desire for fame, to keep his mother and sister İkbal free from financial difficulties and to marry the girl he loves, Lâmia. However, almost all of these dreams end in disappointment. Ahmet Cemil’s temperament and disappointments affect his way of perceiving life and making sense of life. In this study, the temperament of the protagonist Ahmet Cemil, as well as his perception and interpretation of life, are revisited through Nietzsche’s conceptualization of the “will to live”. The analysis focuses on pivotal events such as the death of his sister Iqbal, the marriage of his beloved Lâmia to another person, his thwarted aspirations to write a particular work, and his subsequent journey to the desert in response to these disappointments.

Tarîkatnâme, seyr u sülûk sırasında uyulması gereken kurallar silsilesini açıklayan bir türdür. Tekke ve tarîkatlerin ortaya çıkmasından sonra tarîkatnâmelerin sayısı hızla artmıştır. Ni’metullâhiyye tarîkatına mensup bir mürşit olan Fakîrullah el-Hüseynî’nin telif ettiği Tarîka Fî Âdâbi’s-Sülûk adlı risale, tarîkatnâme türüne örnek teşkil etmektedir. Söz konusu eserin tespit edebilen tek nüshası, Süleymaniye Yazma Eser Kütüphanesi’nde kayıtlıdır. Bu nüsha, kırk dokuz varaktan müteşekkildir. Fakîrullah el-Hüseynî, beş babdan oluşan bu mensur eserinde, Ni’metullâhiyye tarîkatının tekke âdâbını ayrıntılı bir şekilde açıklamaktadır. Ni’metullâhiyye tarîkatına kabul edilen kişinin mürşitle ve ihvanla iletişim kurarken dikkat etmesi gereken hususları ele almaktadır. Ayrıca müridin gerek tekke içinde gerekse tekke dışında yerine getirmesi gereken hizmetleri başlıklar hâlinde açıklamaktadır. Buna göre mürit sırasıyla tuvalet, ayakkabılık, mutfak, süpürgecilik, sakalık, çerağcılık, hâdimlik ve serhalka hizmetlerine getirilmektedir. Bunların her birinin insanın sabrını sınayan zorlu görevler olduğunu kaydeden müellif, müridin kendisine verilen her işi aşkla yerine getirmesinin önemine vurgu yapmaktadır. Bu görevlerin onun hamlıktan kurtulmasına ve müfretlik makamına erişmesine vesile olacağını ifade etmektedir. Bu çalışmada, önce tarîkatnâmeler ve Ni’metullâhiyye tarîkatı hakkında bilgi verilmiş, daha sonra bahsi geçen eserin muhtevası üzerinde durulmuştur. Tarîkatnâme is a genre that explains the series of rules that must be followed during the spiritual journey called seyr-u sülûk. After the emergence of dervish lodges and sects, the number of tarikatnâmes increased rapidly. The risalah called Tarîka Fî Âdâbi’s-Sülûk, written by Fakîrullah el-Huseyni, a sufi member of the Ni’metullâhiyye sect, is an example of the genre of tarîkatnâme. The only copy of the work that we can identify is registered as a detached work in the Süleymaniye Manuscript Library. The current copy consists of forty-nine leaves. In his prose work, which consists of five chapters, Fakîrullah el-Huseyni explains in detail the tekke customs of the Ni’metullâhiyye sect. It deals with the issues that a person who is accepted to the Ni’metullâhiyye sect should pay attention to when communicating with the master and the ikhvan. In addition, it explains the services that the disciple must perform both inside and outside the lodge, under headings. Accordingly, the disciple is brought to the services regarding restroom, shoe holder, kitchen, sweeper, water, furnace, lamp burning, servant, and serhalka respectively. The author notes that each of these challenging tasks requires patience and emphasizes the importance of the disciple fulfilling every task assigned to her with love. The author states that these duties will be instrumental in getting rid of immaturity and reaching the rank of teacher. In this study, information about the tarîkatnâmes and the Ni’metullâhiyya order is given, and then the content of the work is emphasized.

Bu makale, Osmanlı’da matbaa hattatlarının harf devrimine kadarki serencamını ele almaktadır. Taşbaskının Osmanlı topraklarında kullanılmaya başlanması ile matbaalarda ihtiyaç duyulan hattatlar büyük matbaalarda kadrolu personel, küçük matbaalarda ise parça başı yazılar yazarak matbuat alemine dahil olmuştur. Taş baskının ilk yıllarında müstakil hattatlara yazı başına iş yaptırılırken zaman içinde matbaalar hattat da istihdam etmeye başlamışlardır. Yüzyıl sonuna doğru Mushaf basımı başta olmak üzere önemli ve yaygın baskıların devreye girmesi yanında klişeye yazı yazma ile beraber fatura, defter, kartvizit gibi yeni matbu türlerin yaygınlaşması ile beraber hattatların iş alanları da genişlemiş ve hattatlar müstakil yazı evleri açmaya başlamıştır. Bu gelişmelerin II. Meşrutiyet sonrasında matbuat kapitalizminin gelişimini teyit ettiği ve matbaa hattatları da yeni piyasanın önemli bir aktörü oldukları vurgulanmaktadır. This article aims to explore the history of scribes in the printing world. Scribes of printers were first needed with the using of lithography in the Ottoman World and by the time they became an actor of printing and publishing world. Printing clerks were first needed in the Ottoman world with the use of lithography, and in time they became an actor in the world of printing and publishing. Although they initially wrote books for lithographic printers, as new printing techniques develop, they wrote not only books but also business cards, invitations, company invoices, etc. Scribes of printers entered the market as freelance workers, then took permanent positions in printers and in the 20th century they opened calligraphy stores for printers but their story ended with language reform in 1928. It is emphasized that the development of printing capitalism after 1908 and that scribes became important actors in the new market.

Osmanlı Devleti’nde tüm müderris adayları bir sistem dahilinde mesleğe giriş yapıyor ve medrese kariyerlerine belirli hiyerarşi ile devam ediyordu. Bununla birlikte ulemâ ailesinden gelen isimlerin kendilerine tanınan imtiyazlarla meslektaşlarına göre daha kısa sürede kariyer basamaklarında ilerleyebildiği görülüyordu. XV. yüzyılın ortalarından itibaren bazı ulemâ ailelerine verilen sözkonusu ayrıcalıklar zamanla diğer ulemâ ailelerine de sunulmuş; fakat bu uygulama, suistimallerle farklı noktalara taşınmış ve ilmiyedeki bozulmaların önemli sebeplerinden biri olmuştur. Bu durum, uygulamanın devam ettiği dönemde çeşitli eserlerde eleştirildiği gibi Osmanlı dönemi sonrasında da muhtelif açılardan değerlendirilmiştir. Ancak konuyla ilgili ilk çalışmalarda ağırlıklı olarak Osmanlı erken dönemindeki örneklere odaklanılarak neticede ulemâ ailesine mensup isimlerin ilmiye sınıfında aristokratik yapı oluşturduğu ve ilmiyede bir tekel bulunduğu kanaati ağırlık kazanmıştır. Özellikle XIX. yüzyılın farklı zaman dilimlerindeki ulemâları merkeze alan güncel çalışmalarda ise ilmiye sınıfının muhtelif aile tabanlarından gelen isimlere açık bir kariyer imkanı sunduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada konuyla ilgili yapılan araştırmalardan farklı olarak imtiyaz meselesine bir medresenin müderrisleri üzerinden yaklaşılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı Ayasofya Medresesi’ne XIX. yüzyılda tayin edilen ulemâ ailesine mensup müderrislerin medrese kariyerlerinin takip edilerek kendileriyle aynı yüzyılda bu medreseye gelen diğer müderrislere göre medrese derecelerinde yükselmedeki imtiyaz durumlarının ortaya koyulmasıdır. Çalışmada temel veri kaynağı olarak Tarik Defterleri kullanılmıştır. In the Ottoman Empire, all muderris candidates entered the profession within a system and continued their madrasa careers with a certain hierarchy. However, it was observed that the names coming from the ulema family could advance up the career ladder in a shorter time than their colleagues with the privileges granted to them. These privileges, which had been granted to some ulemā families since the mid-15th century, were eventually extended to other ulemā families; however, this practice was carried to different points through abuses and became one of the important reasons for the deterioration of the scholarship. This situation was criticized in various works during the period when the practice continued, and it was also evaluated from various angles after the Ottoman period. However, the first studies on the subject mainly focused on the examples in the early Ottoman period, and as a result, the belief that the names belonging to the ulemā family formed an aristocratic structure in the ilmiye class and that there was a monopoly in the ilmiye gained weight. Recent studies focusing on ulemās from different time periods of the nineteenth century, on the other hand, have found that the ilmiye class offers an open career opportunity to names from various family backgrounds. In this study, unlike other studies on the subject, the issue of privilege is approached through the muderris of a madrasah. The aim of the study is to follow the madrasa careers of the muderris belonging to the ulemā family who were appointed to the Hagia Sophia Madrasa in the nineteenth century and to reveal the privileges of the other muderris who were appointed to this madrasa in the same century. Osmanlı saray mutfağı geleneksel tatların ve farklı kültürel unsurların birleşimiyle ortaya çıkan seçkin lezzetleri barındırır. Siyasi, ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel süreç imparatorluğun mutfağına yansımıştır. İstanbul’un Avrupa ile artan ticari ve ekonomik ilişkileri şehre gelen gıda malzemelerini farklılaştırmıştır. 19. yüzyılla birlikte, Tanzimat’ın getirdikleri arasında mutfağın da Batılılaştığı görülmektedir. 19. yüzyıl boyunca Osmanlı Saray mutfak kültürü, alaturka ve alafranga ikilemi yansıtan unsurlara sahip olmuştur. Özellikle sofra düzeninde ve adabında Avrupa kültürünün etkisiyle yenilikler ortaya çıkmıştır. Saray teşrifatından yemek araç gereçlerine kullanılan ürünlere bir çeşitlenme söz konusu olmuştur. 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısı itibariyle Osmanlı sarayının yabancı konukları sadece geleneksel Osmanlı mutfağı ile değil, Fransız mutfağının lezzetleriyle ağırlanmıştır. Yazımızda, son Veliaht Abdülmecid Efendi’nin mutfağı özelinde saray mutfağı değerlendirilmiştir. 1918-1922 yılları arasında Veliaht Dairesi’ne sipariş edilen gıdaların yanı sıra Abdülmecid Efendi’nin sofrasına davet edilenler ortaya çıkarılırken aslında onun muhiti üzerinde durulmuştur. Son dönem Osmanlı mutfak kültüründe veliaht mutfağının nerede yer aldığı tartışılmıştır. Ottoman palace cuisine contains distinguished flavours that come from combining of traditional tastes and different cultural elements. Political, economic, social, and cultural processes were reflected in the culinary of the empire. Istanbul’s increasing commercial and economic relations with Europe differentiated the food materials coming to the city. In the 19 th century, it was observed that the culinary was also Westernized due to the Tanzimat reforms. During the19 th century the Ottoman Palace culinary culture had elements reflecting the Turkish and European dichotomy. Mainly, in the table settings and manners, innovation has emerged under the influence of European culture. There was a diversification in the protocols and products used in the palace’s culinary and cooking utensils. As of the second half of the 19th century, foreign guests of the Ottoman palace were entertained with traditional Ottoman cuisine and the flavours of French cuisine. This article evaluates the palace’s cooking, focusing on the last Crown Prince Abdülmecid Efendi’s cuisine. While revealing the foods ordered to the Crown Office between 1918 and 1922, as well as those invited to the table of the crown prince, the focus is on his circle. The place of the Crown Prince’s kitchen in the late Ottoman culinary culture is discussed.

Kur’an-ı Kerim’de geniş yer tutan kıssalarda birçok konu işlenmiştir. Bu kıssalarda yer alan mevzulardan birisi de dünya malıdır. İnsanın dünya malı ile imtihanı ise insanlık tarihi kadar eskidir. Bu sınav, Kur’an-ı Kerim’de farklı ayetlerde dile getirilmiştir. Bu ayetlerin ortak noktası, insan için yaratılan dünya malının bazı insanlar için araç değil amaç haline gelmesidir. el-Kehf Sûresi 18/32-44. ayetlerindeki kıssa, dünya malı ilgili ayetlerin hepsini kapsar niteliktedir. Bu ayet grubunda verimli, geniş araziye sahip bir kişinin arkadaşına üstünlük taslamasından sonra malının helak olması anlatılmaktadır. Kıssadaki kişiler, yer ve zaman müphem olduğundan aynı kıssanın herhangi bir zaman diliminde herhangi bir yerde tekrar yaşanması muhtemeldir. Bu çalışmada ilgili ayetlerdeki kıssayı müstakil olarak incelenmeyi uygun gördük. Çalışmamızı yaparken önce kıssanın tanımını yaptık. Sonrasında hem Mushaf sıralamasına hem de olayın zaman sürecine uygun olarak ayetleri tahlil etmeye çalıştık. Bu araştırma esnasında konuyu açıklayıcı ayet ve hadislerden yararlandık, tefsir kaynaklarına başvurduk, kelime açıklamalarında ise sözlüklerden istifade ettik. In the Qur’an, many subjects are covered in the stories. One of the subjects in these stories is worldly goods. The test of man with world property is as old as the history of humanity. The test of man with worldly goods is as old as human history. The common point of these verses is that the worldly goods created for humans turn out not as means but as an end for some people. In Surah al-Kahf 18/32-44, the parable covers all the related verses of worldly property. In this group of verses, the destruction of the property of a person with a fertile, large land after he claims superiority over his friend is narrated. Since the people, place, and time in the parable are ambiguous, it is possible that the same parable may happen again in any place at any time. In this study, we found it appropriate to examine the parable in the relevant verses separately. While doing our study, we first defined the parable. Afterwards, we tried to analyze the verses in accordance with both the order of the Mushaf and the time course of the event. During this research, we benefited from explanatory verses and hadiths, applied consulted tafsir sources and used of dictionaries for word explanations.

Kur’ân-ı Kerîm, temelde insanların hidayetini hedeflemiş olsa da bu hedef için kullandığı bazı argümanlar bilimsel olgularla ilişkilidir. Hatta bunlardan bazıları, kimi ilim adamlarınca ilmî iʻcâz olarak ifade edilen bilimsel mucizeler de içermektedir. Kur’an’ın bu nitelikte ayetleri modern dönemde “bilimsel tefsir” adı verilen bir tefsir türünü ortaya çıkarmış gerek klasik gerekse modern dönemde bu alanda çeşitli eserler yazılmıştır. Bu zamana kadar bilimsel tefsir alanında yazılmış eserler genel olarak ayetlerin bilimle irtibatlarının yanında, bilimsel tefsiri destekleyenler ve karşıtlarının ele alındığı, bunların kabul ve red açısından gerekçelerini sunar mahiyettedir. Bizim çalışmamızda ise bu iki grup arasındaki karşıtlıktan ziyade, bazı örneklerden hareketle Klasik ve Modern Dönemde kevnî âyetlerin tefsiri için kullanılan argümanlar ve metodolojinin tespiti için gayret edilmiştir. Ayrıca bir genel kabul olarak Gazzâlî ile başlatılan bilimsel tefsir ekolünün, ondan önceki nüvelerinin ortaya çıkarılmasına çalışılmıştır. Qur’an basically Aims to guide human beings. Besides, some of the arguments Qur’an used for this goal are related to the scientific facts. A few of them even contain the scientific miracles, which are referred as iʻjaz al-ilmi (scientific iʻjaz) by some scholars. The verses of the Qur’an of this nature have given rise to a type of tafseer called “scientific tafseer” in the modern period, and various works have been written in this field both in the classical and modern periods. So far, the works in the field of scientific tafseer have predominantly focused on exploring the relationship between Quranic verses and scientific concepts. These works also discuss the proponents and critics of scientific tafseer, presenting the reasons for both its acceptance and rejection. In our study, rather than the contrast between these two groups, an effort has been made to determine the arguments and methodology used for the interpretation of the kawnî (cosmic) verses in the Classical and Modern Period, based on some examples. In addition, as a general acceptance, an attempt has been made to reveal the scientific school of tafseer initiated by al-Ghazālī and its predecessors

Çocuklar için mekânda konum kavramlarının kazanımı erken yıllarda başlayarak, okul öncesi dönemde eğitimin etkisi ile hızlı bir ilerleme kaydetmektedir. Bu çalışmada, okul öncesi eğitime devam eden 83 çocuğun mekânda konum kavramlarını kullanımları incelenmek için örnek bir resim kullanılmıştır. Çalışmaya dört farklı ilde eğitim gören 43 kız ve 40 erkek çocuk katılmış olup, resimde görülen dokuz farklı kişinin yerleri tarif edilerek, alınan cevaplar kaydedilip, daha sonra araştırmacıların analizleri sonucu, her bir kişi için dört farklı (mekanda konum ifadeleri kullanarak tarif edenler, mekanda konum ifadelerini kullanmadan doğru tarif edenler, mekanda konum ifadelerini kullanarak yanlış tarif edenler ve mekanda konum ifadelerini kullanmadan yanlış tarif edenler) başlık ortaya çıkarak, bu başlıklara göre değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, çocuklar mekânda konum ifadelerini kullanarak doğru tarif edenler olduğu kadar mekânda konum ifadelerini kullanmadan doğru tarif eden cevaplar da olduğu görülerek, genel olarak çocukların doğru cevabı bildikleri fakat kavramsal gelişimlerin yeterli olmadığı görülmüştür. The acquisition of spatial location concepts for children starts in the early years and has significant progress with the impact of education in the early years. In this study, a sample picture was used to examine the usage of the concept of location in space for 83 children attending preschool education. 43 girls and 40 boys attending preschools in four different cities participated in this research. In the sample picture, the locations of nine different people were described, and the answers were recorded. Then, four different categories (those who described using location concepts, those who described correctly without using location concepts, those who failed to describe using location concepts, and those who failed to describe without using location concepts) were determined for each person as a result of the researchers’ analysis. Children’s responses for each person were evaluated according to these categories. As a result of the research, some answers describe the children correctly using location concepts as well as those that describe them correctly without using location expressions. Thus children generally know the correct answer, but their conceptual development may not be sufficient to describe using conceptual words.
