Abstract Advances in earthquake engineering play a role in the development of seismic codes all over the world. The new version of Turkish Building Earthquake Code (TBEC) has also been published in 2018. Thanks to the technological developments, real acceleration records to be used in dynamic analysis of structures have been easily accessible. In this study, the variation of maximum displacement demands of single degree of freedom (SDOF) systems determined via dynamic analysis by using real earthquake records compatible with TBEC are investigated. For this purpose, 120 SDOF systems which represent behavior of variety of structural topologies were created by combination of different lateral strength capacity ratios, structural periods, hysteretic models and post-yield stiffness ratios. In order to obtain ground motion records, two different level of seismic intensity level and three different local soil classes are considered. 30 real ground motion record sets for each seismic intensity level and local soil class are used for detailed assessment of tendency and variation of maximum displacement demands. Results indicated that (a) effect of different hysteretic models on displacement demands is negligible, (b) the mean displacement demands are more conservative than median displacement demands for the sets, (c) displacement demand variation of the sets are high and not evenly distributed, (d) the variation of the demands changes randomly depending on local soil class and earthquake level, (e) lateral strength ratio and post-yield stiffness are efficient on the variation of the demands. Öz Deprem mühendisliğindeki gelişmeler, tüm dünyada deprem yönetmeliklerinin gelişmesinde rol oynamaktadır. Türkiye Bina Deprem Yönetmeliği’nin (TBDY) yeni versiyonu da 2018 yılında yayınlanmıştır. Teknolojik gelişmeler sayesinde, yapıların dinamik analizinde kullanılacak gerçek ivme kayıtları kolay ulaşılabilir hale gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada, tek serbestlik dereceli (TSD) sistemlerin TBDY ile uyumlu gerçek ivme kayıtları kullanılarak yapılan dinamik analizi ile elde edilen maksimum yerdeğiştirme taleplerinin değişimi incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla, çeşitli yapı özelliklerini dikkate almaya olanak sağlayan 120 TSD sistem modeli, farklı yatay dayanım oranı, titreşim periyodu, histeretik davranış modeli ve akma sonrası rijitlik değerlerinin kombinasyonu ile elde edilmiştir. İvme kayıtlarının elde edilmesi için iki farklı deprem seviyesi ile beraber üç farklı yerel zemin sınıfı dikkate alınmıştır. Maksimum yerdeğiştirme taleplerinin eğilimi ve saçılımını detaylı olarak değerlendirmek amacıyla her bir deprem seviyesi ve yerel zemin sınıfı için 30 gerçek ivme kaydı seti kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar, (a) çevrimsel modellerin etkisinin ihmal edilebileceğini, (b) sete ait ortalama taleplerin, medyan taleplere göre daha yüksek olduğunu, (c) taleplerin set içindeki saçılımının yüksek ve değişkenlik gösterdiğini, (d) talep saçılımında yerel zemin sınıfı ve/veya deprem yer hareketi etkisinin olmadığı ve rastgele değiştiğini, (e) yatay dayanım oranı ve akma sonrası rijitliğin taleplerin saçılımı üzerinde etkili olduğunu, göstermiştir. Öz Bu çalışmada, tek ve karma lif takviyesinin aderans dayanımına etkisini incelemek için altı adet tam ölçekli 200x300x2000 mm boyutlarında betonarme kiriş numunesi dört noktalı eğilme altında test edilmiştir. Bu amaçla, betonarme kiriş numuneleri lif takviyesiz, tek lif (%1 makro çelik lif) ve karma lif (%0.8 makro ve %0.2 mikro çelik lif) takviyeli olarak döküldü. Her bir kiriş numunesi, çekme bölgesinde iki adet donatı çeliğinin açıklık ortasında bindirmeli ekli olarak tasarlanmıştır. Bindirme boyu donatının akma dayanımına ulaşmadan önce bindirme bölgesinde beton örtüsünün yarılmasıyla aderans göçmesi gösterecek şekilde seçilmiştir. Deneysel çalışmada, donatı çapı, bindirme boyu ve donatı detayları sabit tutulurken, lif tip ve kombinasyonları değişken olarak belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, lif takviyeli tüm betonarme kiriş numunelerinin beton ve çelik donatı arasındaki aderans dayanımı, lif takviyesiz kiriş numunelerine göre artış gösterirken, karma lif takviyeli kiriş numunelerinin aderans dayanımı ise en yüksek bulunmuştur. Karma lif takviyeli kiriş numunelerinde sünek göçme gözlemlenmiş ve çoklu çatlak davranışı sonucu genişliği daha az fakat daha fazla sayıda çatlak oluştuğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, lif takviyeli kiriş numunelerinden elde edilen aderans dayanımına ait deneysel verilerin, analitik bulgularla çok iyi bir uyum içinde olduğu bulunmuştur. Abstract In this study, six reinforced concrete (RC) beams with the sizes of 200x300x2000 mm were tested under four-point bending to investigate the effect of single and hybrid fiber reinforced on the bond strength of reinforcing bar. For this purpose, the reinforced beams were cast as no fiber, single fiber (1% macro steel fiber) and hybrid fiber (0.8% macro and 0.2% micro steel fiber) reinforced. Each beam was designed to include two bars in tension, spliced at the center of the span. The splice length was selected so that bars would fail in bond, splitting the concrete cover in the splice region, before reaching the yield point. In experimental work, the diameter of bars, splice length and bar details was selected as constant while the fiber type and combination was variable. Finally, it was found that all beams with steel fiber reinforced had higher bond strength between concrete and steel bar than the beams without steel fiber while the beams with hybrid steel fiber reinforced had highest bond strength. A ductile failure was observed in the hybrid fiber reinforced beam specimens and it was determined that the result of multiple-crack behavior less crack width but more numbers cracked. Moreover, experimental data related to the bond strength obtained from RC beams with steel fiber were in very good agreement with analytical results.

Abstract The interaction of soil and structure significantly alters displacement response of the framed structures. This effect is mostly important for the buildings resting on soft soils. Including these effects in the dynamic analysis, the lateral displacements and the drift demand of the building increase depending on the type of the underlying soil. The variation in the drift demand due to the interaction effects also changes the performance level of the structure, as well. Since the interstory drift ratio is one of the most important demand parameter, it is essential to integrate the effects of soil structure interaction within the structural design process and the performance assessment. In this study, the drift demand of an existing multistory building is obtained using an improved technique for dynamic analysis of the soil-structure systems. The technique is based on the analysis of the multistory buildings under the seismic wave propagation employing Finite Element Methods (FE) for the superstructure and Boundary Element Methods (BE) for the underlying soil medium. The lateral displacement response at each story level is used to determine maximum interstory drift ratio of the building and to estimate structural performance level. Öz Yapı-zemin etkileşimi, çerçeve sistemli yapıların deprem yükü altındaki yerdeğiştirme cevabını önemli ölçüde değiştirmektedir. Bu etki özellikle yumuşak zemin üzerine inşaa edilmiş yapılarda çok daha önemlidir. Dinamik çözümlemede bu etki göz önüne alındığı takdirde; yapının inşaa edildiği zemin türüne bağlı olarak yanal yerdeğiştirmelerinde ve kat ötelemesi talebinde artış meydana gelebilir. Etkileşime bağlı olarak yapının kat ötelemesi talebinde meydana gelen farklılık, aynı zamanda yapının performans seviyesini de değiştirir. Göreli kat ötelemesi oranı, deprem etkisi altında tasarım sürecindeki en önemli yapısal parametrelerden birisidir. Bu sebeple, yapı-zemin etkileşimi etkilerinin yapısal tasarım aşamasında ve performansın belirlenmesinde dikkate alınması oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmada, mevcut çok katlı bir yapının kat ötelemesi talebi, yapı-zemin sistemlerinin dinamik çözümlemesi için geliştirilmiş olan sayısal bir yöntem ile elde edilmiştir. Bu yöntemde, çok katlı yapıların deprem dalgaları etkisi altındaki dinamik cevabının çözümlenmesinde üstyapının sayısal modeli için Sonlu Elemanlar Yöntemi; zemin için ise Sınır Elemanlar Yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Kat seviyelerinde hesaplanan yanal yerdeğiştirme değerleri kullanılarak mevcut bir yapıda maksimum göreli kat ötelemesi oranı ve yapısal performans düzeyi belirlenmiştir. Öz Agregalar ve bitümlü bağlayıcı arasında oluşan adezyonun azalması sonucunda üstyapıda çatlaklar, çukurlar ve sökülmeler meydana gelmektedir. İlk kez bu çalışmada agrega ile bitümlü bağlayıcı arasındaki adezyonu artırmak için Cocamide Diethanolamide kimyasalının kullanılabilirliği incelenmiştir. Bitümlü bağlayıcıya %1, %3, %5, %7 ve %9 oranlarında ilave edilen Cocamide Diethanolamide kimyasal malzemesinin 2000 devir/dk, 165 °C ve 1 sa. süreyle yüksek devirli sıcaklık kontrollü karıştırıcı kullanılarak homojen olarak karışımı sağlanmıştır. Farklı oranlarda Cocamide Diethanolamide ile modifiye edilmiş bitümlü bağlayıcılar üzerinde geleneksel bitüm deneylerine ilaveten, yapışma ve soyulma deneyleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada kullanılan malzemenin bitümlü bağlayıcı ve agrega arasında oluşan adezyona olan etkisini incelemek için Vialit, Nicholson ve Kaliforniya yapışma ve soyulma deneyleri yapılmıştır. Vialit deneyinin sonuçlarına göre bitümlü bağlayıcıya ilave edilen Cocamide Diethanolamide malzemesinin miktarı arttıkça, bitümlü bağlayıcı ve agregalar arasındaki yapışma özelliğinin %87.5 oranında arttığı gözlemlenmiştir. Nicholson ve Kaliforniya soyulma deneylerinde ise, %5 Cocamide Diethanolamide ile modifiye edilmiş bitümlü bağlayıcının agregalar üzerinde önemli derecede etkili olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Abstract As a result of the decrease in adhesion formed between aggregates and bituminous binder, cracks, potholes and raveling occur in the pavement. In order to increase the adhesion between aggregates and bituminous binder, the usability of Cocamide Diethanolamide which is chemical material was examined for the first time. Cocamide Diethanolamide is added to bituminous binder at a rate of 1%, 3%, 5%, 7% and 9% and homogeneously mixed using a high shear temperature-controlled mixer at 2000 rpm for 165 °C and 1 hour. In addition to the conventional bitumen experiments on the bituminous binders which are modified with different ratios of Cocamide Diethanolamide, adhesion and stripping tests were carried out. Vialit, Nicholson and California adhesion and stripping tests were carried out to examine the effect of the material used in the study on adhesion formed between bituminous binder and aggregate. According to the results of the Vialit test, it has been observed that the adhesion between the bituminous binder and aggregates increased by 87.5% as the amount of the Cocamide Diethanolamide material added to bituminous binder increased. In the Nicholson and California stripping tests, it was observed that bituminous binder which modified with 5% Cocamide Diethanolamide has significantly effective on aggregates.

Öz Demiryollarında kullanılan üstyapı tiplerinden biri olan balastsız üstyapı sistemlerinin, servis ömrü boyunca balastlı üstyapıya göre daha az bakım gerektirdiği bilinmektedir. Balastsız üstyapının her ne kadar yapım maliyetleri balastlı üstyapıya göre daha yüksek olsa da, hattın hizmet ömrü süresince oluşan toplam maliyetler incelendiğinde, balastsız üstyapının daha ekonomik çözümler sunduğu görülmüştür. Ancak, her balastsız üstyapı sistemi balastlı üstyapıya göre bu ekonomik avantaja sahip midir? Ayrıca, ekonomik koşullar bir üstyapı tipinin ekonomiklik ölçütünü ne kadar etkilemektedir? Ülkemiz ekonomik koşullarında hangi üstyapı tipini seçmek daha uygundur? Bu çalışma, bu soruları yanıtlamaya yönelik olarak 3 farklı demiryolu üstyapı tipini (balastlı üstyapı, beton taşıma katmanlı balastsız üstyapı ve asfalt taşıma katmanlı balastsız üstyapı) ekonomik olarak incelemiştir. Bahsi geçen üstyapı tiplerinin yapım ve bakım maliyetleri belirlenmiş olup, ortaya çıkan maliyetlere göre üstyapı tipleri ekonomik olarak birbirleri ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu araştırma bir durum çalışması üzerinde gösterilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, asfalt taşıma katmanlı balastsız üstyapı sistemi, iskonto oranının %2’den büyük olduğu her ekonomik koşulda diğer üstyapı tiplerinden daha pahalı olmaktadır. Beton taşıma katmanlı balastsız üstyapı sistemi ise, iskonto oranının %7’den küçük olduğu durumlarda en ekonomik sistem durumundadır. Bu iskonto oranı (%7) aşıldığında, toplam maliyeti en az olan sistemin balastlı üstyapı sistemi olduğu görülmüştür. Ülkemiz koşulları dikkate alındığında ise (iskonto oranı %15 için) ekonomik açıdan en uygun sistemin balastlı üstyapı sistemi olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Abstract It is known that the ballast-less superstructure systems require less maintenance than ballasted superstructure versions throughout their service life. Although the construction costs of ballast-less superstructure are higher than ballasted superstructure systems, it is seen that the ballast-less superstructure systems offer more economical solutions when the total costs of the line's service life are examined. However does each ballast-less superstructure system have this economic advantage over ballasted superstructure? Which type of superstructure is more economical under different economic conditions? What is the most economical solution for Turkey in the superstructure selection? In this study, 3 different types of railway superstructures (a ballasted system, a ballast-less system with asphalt bearing layer, a ballast-less system with concrete bearing layer) were examined economically to answer these questions. Construction and maintenance costs of the mentioned types of superstructure have been determined and according to these costs, these systems were compared economically. This research has been shown on a case study. The results of this study indicate that the ballast-less track with asphalt bearing layer is more expensive than other superstructure types in every economic condition where the discount rate is greater than 2%. When the discount rate is less than 7%, the ballast-less system with concrete bearing layer is the most economical system. In the case that the discount rate exceeds 7%, the ballasted track is the most economical system. For economic conditions in Turkey (discount rate for 15%), it has been determined that the ballasted track is a more economical system.

Abstract Adsorption is one of the most widely used methods for dye removal from water. At the end of the adsorption process, the dyed adsorbents emerging as a second-order waste which is the main disadvantage of this process. In this study, the removal of a synthetic dye Crystal Violet (CV) from the synthetic wastewater by using Centaurea solstitialis (CS) and Verbascum Thapsus (VT) plants was studied by adsorption. At the end of the adsorption process, the reusing potential of the dyed plant was explored by measuring the dyed plant calorific values. Experimental design and modeling were performed using the surface response method (RSM). The regression coefficients for developed models were 0.86 for the CS plant and 0.95 for the VT plant. Adsorption process for CS and VT plants were fitted by Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm, and Temkin isotherm, respectively. The two plants were pseudo-second-order, endothermic, and found to be chemically. CS plant had a capacity of 84.03 mg.g-1 with a contact time of 85 min. The capacity of the VT plant reached 109.89 mg.g-1 at a contact time of 55 min. The calorific values results show increases in the calorific values for the two plants after the adsorption process. The CS plant increased from 4003.774 to 4458.059 Kcal.Kg-1. Whereas the VT plant increased from 3206.028 to 4120.330 Kcal.Kg-1. These values indicate the using possibility of the two plants as solid fuel by burning the dyed plants in emission controlled industrial facilities by applying the zero-waste concept. Öz Adsorpsiyon, sudan boya gideriminde kullanılan en yaygın yöntemlerden biridir. Adsorpsiyon yönteminin en önemli dezavantajı, işlem sonunda ikinci bir atık olarak boyalı adsorban maddelerin oluşmasıdır. Bu çalışmada, adsorban olarak Senturea solstitialis (CS) ve Verbascum thapsus (VT) bitkileri kullanılarak sulu çözeltiden Crystal Violet'in (CV) uzaklaştırılması incelenmiştir. İşlem sonunda elde edilen boyalı adsorbanların kalorifik değerleri belirlenerek farklı amaçlar için kullanılabilirliği araştırılmıştır. Deneysel tasarım ve modelleme, yüzey tepki yöntemi (RSM) kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Geliştirilen modeller için regresyon katsayıları CS bitkisi için 0.86 ve VT bitkisi için 0.95 olarak bulunmuştur. Adsorpsiyon işleminde CS ve VT bitkilerinin sırasıyla Dubinin-Radushkevich ve Temkin izotermine uyduğu tespit edilmiştir. Her iki bitki için de adsorpsiyon, sahte ikinci derece kinetik, endotermik ve kimyasal reaksiyon olarak gerçekleşmiştir. CS bitkisi için maksimum adsorpsiyon kapasitesi 84.03 mg.g-1 ve temas süresi 85 dk.’dır. VT bitkisi için ise maksimum adsorpsiyon kapasitesi olan 109.89 mg.g-1'e, 55 dk.’da ulaşılmıştır. Her iki bitkinin de adsorpsiyon öncesinde ve sonrasında kalorifik değerleri ölçülmüş ve adsorpsiyon işlemi sonrasında elde edilen boyalı adsorbanların kalorifik değerlerinin arttığı tespit edilmiştir. CS bitkisinde kalorifik değer 4003.774'ten 4458.059 Kcal.Kg-1'e yükselirken VT bitkisinde 3206.028'den 4120.330 Kcal.Kg-1'e yükselmiştir. Bu değerler, adsorpsiyon işlemi sonrasında ikinci bir atık olarak ortaya çıkan boyalı bitkilerin emisyon kontrollü endüstriyel tesislerde yakıt olarak kullanılabileceğini göstermiştir. Abstract In this study, the capability of chemically synthesized hydroxyapatite-magnetite (HAp/Fe3O4-MHAp) nanocomposite for the sorption of Zn(II) ions was investigated. Magnetite-hydroxyapatite nanocomposite (MHAp) has been chosen as an adsorbent because of its excellent properties such as stability, low cost and effective sorption power. Adsorption process were tried to find the optimum conditions of the parameters for Zn(II) removal such as pH, concentrations of initial Zn(II) and adsorbent and reaction time. Nanocomposite properties were also characterized by using Fouirer Transform Infrared Spektrofotometre (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy-dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) techniques. Our results showed that the adsorption kinetic of Zn(II) using HAp/Fe3O4 composite fitted to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Calculations were carried out to determine which isotherm model the adsorption fits by using Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin, and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) equations. Adsorption potential of MHAp nanocomposite was obtained 555.55 mg/g, and best removal value of 96% were determined at pH of 6.0, optimum adsorbent concentration of 6.25 g/L, in 25 mg/L Zn(II) concentration and optimum mixing time of 30 min. This study showed that the MHAp can be considered an effective adsorbent on the Zn(II) removal from wastewater. Öz Bu çalışmada, kimyasal olarak sentezlenen hidroksiapatit ve nano manyetit partiküllerinden manyetit-hidroksiapatit (HAp/Fe3O4-MHAp) nanokompozit malzemesi üretilmiş ve sulardan Zn(II) iyonlarının gideriminde adsorbent olarak kullanılmıştır. MHAp nanokompozit materyali düşük maliyet, kullanım ve üretim kolaylığı, yüksek stabilite ve etkili sorpsiyon kapasitesi gibi özelliklere sahip olduğu için seçilmiştir. Kesikli adsorpsiyon prosesine etki eden parametreler örneğin pH, başlangıç Zn(II) konsantrasyonu, adsorbent konsantrasyonu ve reaksiyon süresi için optimum değerlerin belirlenmesine yönelik deneyler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen kompozit malzemenin özelliklerini belirlemek amacıyla Fourier Dönüşümlü Kızılötesi Spektroskopisi (FTIR), Taramalı Elektron Mikroskopu (SEM), Enerji yayılımlı X-Işını Analizi (EDX) kullanılmıştır. Adsorpsiyonun izoterm tipini belirlemek için Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin ve Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) izoterm modelleri denenmiş ve reaksiyonun zamanla değişimini tespit etmek amacıyla kinetic çalışmaları yürütülmüştür. Elde edilen sonuçlar, HAp/Fe3O4 kompozitinin sulardan Zn(II) iyonlarının gideriminde başarılı bir adsorbent olduğunu ve reaksiyon kinetiğinin Yalancı İkinci Dereceden Kinetik Modele uyduğunu göstermiştir. Optimum deneysel koşullarda (pH:6.0, 25 mg Zn(II)/L, 30 dk, 6.25 g/L MHAp) maksimum sorpsiyon kapasitesi 555.55 mg/g ve giderim verimi %96 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Abstract In this study, the methodology was applied for the prediction of municipal solid waste (MSW) composition in the Eskişehir/Turkey. For this purpose, MSW samples were collected, and the samples were separated by food wastes, paper-cardboard, plastics, glass, metals as manually. In the present study, the concept of 2D curve fitting functions was adopted for the forecasting of MSW composition. To comment on the performance of proposed system, the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Sum of Squared Error (SSE) metrics were chosen as statistical residual evaluation metrics. According to results, it is seen that the polynomial curve fitting model is most suitable. Also, the effect of socio-economic structure on the waste composition by different nonlinear models was observed. With contribution of study, it would be possible to forecast the MSW composition of other cities which have similar factors. Öz Bu çalışmada, Eskişehir/Türkiye’deki kentsel katı atık (MSW) bileşiminin tahmini için bir metodoloji uygulanmıştır. Bu amaçla, MSW örnekleri toplanmış ve numuneler yiyecek atığı, kâğıt-karton, plastik, metal, cam olarak el ile ayrılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, MSW bileşiminin tahmini için 2B eğri uydurma fonksiyonları kullanılmıştır. Önerilen sistemin performansını yorumlamak için, Kök Ortalama Karesel Hata (RMSE) ve Toplam Karesel Hata (SSE) değerleri değerlendirme ölçütleri olarak seçilmiştir. Sonuçlara göre, polinom eğri uydurma modelinin atık bileşiminin tahmini için daha uygun olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, sosyoekonomik yapının atık bileşimi üzerindeki farklı doğrusal olmayan modellerle etkisi gözlenmiştir. Çalışmanın katkısıyla, benzer faktörlere sahip olan diğer şehirlerin MSW kompozisyonunu tahmin etmek mümkün olacaktır. Öz Sismik P- ve S- dalga hızları içinde yayıldıkları jeolojik birimlerin (zemin, kaya) fiziksel özelliklerine, ayrışma ve kırık-çatlak derecelerine, derinlik ve gözenek yapısına doğrudan bağlı olup, kazı çalışmalarında sökülebilirliğin tahmin edilmesinde yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Jeolojik birimlerin P- ve S-dalga hızları arazide sırasıyla sismik kırılma ve çok kanallı yüzey dalgası analizi (ÇKYDA) yöntemleri ile belirlenebilir. Sismik hızların 1 ve 2 boyutlu (1B ve 2B) dağılımları ile jeolojik birimlerin jeoteknik nitelikleri ile ilişkili olarak sökülebilirlik sınıfları hızlı ve güvenilir olarak tahmin edilebilir. Bu çalışmada, Trabzon il merkezinde dört farklı alanda yapılan sismik ölçümlerden elde edilen veriler, ölçüm alanlarındaki jeolojik birimlerin sökülebilirlikleri için uluslararası standartlara (Caterpillar ve NEHRP) göre hazırlanmış P- ve S-dalga hızı sınıflama tabloları kullanılarak yeniden değerlendirilmiş ve S-dalga hızının dahil edildiği ilksel bir sismik hız-sökülebilirlik-jeoteknik sınıflama tablosu oluşturulmuştur. Böylece, jeolojik birimlerin türü (zemin, kaya) ve mekanik özelliği (sıkı, katı, sert) S-dalga hızına, sökülebilirlik dereceleri ise, P-dalga hızına göre tanımlanmıştır. Buna göre, genel olarak, çalışma alanlarındaki jeolojik birimler çok kolay-kolay sökülebilir az sıkı zemin (Vp<900 m/s, Vs<300 m/s), orta derecede sökülebilir katı- sıkı zemin (Vp900-1500 m/s, Vs400-600 m/s), zor sökülebilir çok sıkı-katı veya ayrışmış kaya (Vp1500-2100 m/s, Vs600-800 m/s), çok zor-son derece zor sökülebilir sağlam kaya (Vp2100-2400 m/s, Vs800-1100 m/s) ve sökülemez sert kaya (Vp>2400 m/s, Vs>1100 m/s) şeklinde sınıflandırılmıştır. Ayrıca, 2B P-dalga hızı-derinlik kesitleri sayesinde jeolojik birimlerin yaklaşık sınırlarının belirlenebileceği gösterilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, P- ve S-dalga hızlarının birlikte değerlendirilmesinin jeolojik birimin sökülebilirliğinin yanında, türü (zemin veya kaya), mekanik ve fiziksel özellikleri hakkında da bilgi vermektedir ve böylece sökülebilirlik tahmin hatalarının azaltılmasına ve kazı çalışmalarının yönlendirilmesine önemli katkılar sağlayacaktır. Abstract Seismic P- and S- wave velocities are directly dependent on the physical properties of the geological units (soil and rock) in which they propagate, the degree of decomposition and fracture-crack, depth and porosity, and are widely used in estimating the rippability in excavation works. P- and S-wave velocities of geological units can be determined by seismic refraction and multichannel surface wave analysis (MASW) methods, respectively, in the field. The rippability classes can be estimated quickly and reliably in relation to the distribution of the seismic velocities in 1 and 2 dimensions (1D and 2D) and geotechnical characteristics of geological units. In this study, data from many in situ seismic measurements performed in four different areas in vicinity of center of Trabzon province were re-evaluated using P- and S-wave velocity classification tables prepared according to international standards (Caterpillar and NEHRP) for the rippability of geological units in the measurement areas and a primary seismic velocity-rippability-geotechnical classification table was prepared by including S-wave velocity. Therefore, the type (soil, rock) and mechanical property (firm, solid, hard, etc.) of the geological units are defined according to the S-wave velocity and the degree of rippability according to the P-wave velocity. Accordingly, in general, the geological units in the study areas are classified as very easy-to-easy, less firm soil (Vp <900 m/s, Vs <300 m/s), moderately rippabile solid- firm soil (Vp900-1500 m/s, Vs400-600 m/s), hard to rippabile very firm-solid or weathered rock (Vp1500-2100 m/s, Vs600-800 m/s), very hard-to-extremely hard to rippabile solid rock (Vp2100-2400 m/s, Vs800-1100 m/s) and non-rippabile hard rock (Vp>2400 m/s, Vs>1100 m/s). In addition, it has been shown that the approximate limits of geological units on 2D P-wave velocity-depth sections. Consequently, the evaluation of P- and S-wave velocities together has provided the information about the type (soil or rock), mechanical and physical properties of the geological units besides the rippability, thus will ensure minimizing the rippability estimation errors and to the guiding of excavation works.

Öz Kohezyonsuz zeminlerin sıvılaşma potansiyeli, gerilme yaklaşımını kullanan SPT, CPT gibi arazi yöntemleri ve üç eksenli dinamik kesme, burulmalı kesme, rezonant kolon, bender eleman gibi laboratuvar deneyleri ile belirlenmektedir. Kumların sıvılaşma potansiyelinin tahmininde son zamanlarda, enerji kavramı kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu yaklaşımda kullanılan başlıca parametreler, zeminin rölatif sıkılığı ve efektif gerilmedir. Bu çalışmada, Devirsel Basit Kesme Düzeneği kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, kumların sıvılaşma enerjisinin belirlenmesinde, kesme birim deformasyonu oranı ve rölatif sıkılığın etkisi incelenmiştir. Çalışmada, temiz ince deniz kumu kullanılmıştır. Kum numuneleri 3 farklı rölatif sıkılıkta (Dr=%40, %55 ve %70); 4 ayrı düşey gerilme (σv= 50, 100, 200 ve 300 kPa) ve boşluk suyu basıncı (u= 25, 50, 75 ve 150 kPa) etkisinde bırakılmıştır. 3 ayrı kesme birim deformasyonu oranında (????= %2, %3.5 ve %5) toplam 36 deney yapılmıştır. Deney örneklerine, tek eksenli 0.1 Hz frekansta harmonik yükleme uygulanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda rölatif sıkılık, kesme birim deformasyonu oranı ve düşey gerilme şartlarının kumların sıvılaşma potansiyeline etkisi ince taneli deniz kumu için ortaya konmuştur. Kesme birim deformasyon oranındaki artış, sıvılaşma potansiyelini %3’lük oranda azaltmaktadır. Rölatif sıkılıktaki artış, kumun kesme direncini arttırmaktadır. Bu ise sıvılaşmayı geciktirmekte ve devir sayısında artışa neden olmaktadır. Abstract Liquefaction potential of non-cohesive soils is determined by field tests such as SPT, CPT, which use the stress approach, and laboratory tests such as three-dimensional dynamic shear, torsional shear, resonant column, and bender element tests. Recently, the approach of energy has been used to estimate the liquefaction potential of sands. The main parameters used in this approach are relative density and effective stress of the ground. In this study, Cyclic Simple Shear Test arrangement is used. In this study, the effect of shear strain and relative density on the liquefaction energy of the sands were investigated. In the study, clean fine marine sands were used. In this study, 3 different relative densities for a sand sample (Dr= 40%, 55% and 70%); 4 different stresses (σv= 50, 100, 200 ve 300 kPa), and pore water pressure (u= 25, 50, 75 ve 150 kPa). Totally of 36 experiments were performed in and 3 different deformation rates (γ= 2%, 3.5%, and 5%). The harmonic loading was applied to the experimental samples at a frequency (f) of 0.1 Hz. The effect of relative density, deformation rate and vertical stress conditions on the liquefaction energy of sands has been demonstrated for a type of fine-grained clean sea sand. The increase in the shear strain rate reduces the liquefaction potential by about 3%. The increase in relative density, increases the shear resistance of the sand. This delay liquefaction and causes an increase in the number of cycles.
