In the flora of Gubinsko-Troekurovskie heights (Samara Region) there are identified 470 species of vascular plants, including 26 rare species: Adonanthe vernalis, Astragalus zingeri, Bupleurum falcatum, Catabrosella humilis, Clausia aprica, Cotoneaster laxiflorus, Crataegus volgensis, Ephedra distachya, Ferula caspica, Fritil-laria ruthenica, Galatella angustissima, Gentiana cruciata, Hedysarum grandifolium, Iris aphylla, I. pseudacorus, I. pumila, Jurinea ledebourii, J. multiflora, Koeleria sclerophylla, Linum perenne, Polygala sibirica, Pulsatilla patens, Scabiosa isetensis, Stipa korshinskyi, S. pennata, Thymus zheguliensis.

Since 2006 on the territory of the Polistovsky reserve and its buffer zone was found 10 new species, 4 of them on the reserve, and the rest in the buffer zone. Including Dactylorhiza traunsteineri (Saut.) Soó, a species listed in the Red book of the Russian Federation with the 3rd category of protection status. Species listed in the Red data book of the Pskov region Dactylorhiza baltica (Klinge) Orlova and Equisetum variegatum Schleich. ex Web. et Mohr. significantly reduce their numbers in a protected area.

The morphology and biology of the Red Book saprotrophic orchid Epipogium aphyllum were studied on the Asafij Island of the Kemludsky archipelago (Kandalaksha Gulf, White Sea) in 2001–2011. Size of the above-ground part of the population varied from 34 to 219 generative shoots. Our results suggest intense vege-tative reproduction and a considerable “reserve” of non-flowering plants in the soil. In spite of the revealed high potential seed productivity, our data provide no evi-dence of an essential role played by seed reproduction in population maintenance.
