Sleep apnoea is one of the common sleep disorders. It is a condition in which breathing stops for more than ten seconds during sleep. It is a major, though often unrecognized, cause of daytime sleepiness. Sleep Apnoea is defined as the cessation of airflow, a complete obstruction for at least 10sec with a concomitant 2 to 4% drop in arterial oxygen saturation. Hypopnea is a reduction in airflow of at least 30 to 50% with a drop in oxygen saturation. The Apnoea hypopnea index (AHI) is the average number of apnoea and hypopnea per hour of sleep1

Loss of torque in the anterior region has long stood as a problem during space closure by sliding mechanics.This particularly occurs due to play between archwire and brackets. Various methods of retaining torque involves the use of torquing auxillaries or twisting of rectangular archwires. Bidimensional technique is one such method which minimizes incisor torque loss during retraction by reducing the play between the archwire and the bracket ,by ensuring full engagement of wire in the bracket slot. At the same time it reduces friction in the posterior teeth thereby preventing anchorage loss.The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of various bidimensional techniques.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to compare the working length determination done using two methods, namely,conventional radiography (IOPA)and radiovisiography (Kodak RVG 5100). Materials &Method: In this experiment, to determine the working length, 30 molar teeth were selected and each tooth was subjected to two methods of the working length determination. Results: There is no significant difference between conventional radiography,and radiovisiography in the accuracy of working length determination. Conclusion: This in vitro study suggests the radiovisiography is in a high correlation with conventional radiograph in root length determination.Long term follow up studies is necessary to evaluate post-operative success comparing these methods of working length determination in endodontics

Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory disorder demonstrating some immune pathology. It is a cell- mediated immune condition of unknown etiology, in which T lymphocytes accumulate beneath the epithelium of the oral mucosa and increase the rate of differentiation of stratified squamous epithelium, resulting in hyperkeratosis and erythema with or without ulceration. Oral Lichen Planus has little potential for malignant transformation, but it can serve as a source of severe morbidity.2 It is prevalent round the globe, mostly in the fifth to sixth decades of life, and affects females twice as common as males.2

Introduction: Bacterial plaque is the forerunner to gingivitis and if untreated can lead to periodontitis. The incorporation of ingredient like antiplaque and antigingivitis into a dentifrice is an attractive option to augment mechanical cleaning procedures. Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of the dentifrices in controlling gingivitis. Methodology: A 4 week randomized controlled, double blind; parallel design clinical study was conducted. A sample size of 30 subjects was obtained. Subjects were randomised into Group I and II of 15 each. Groups were compared by ANOVA and the significance of mean difference within and between the groups was done by Tukey's post hoc test. Result: The mean GI score in both group decreases (improve) after the treatments and the decrease (improvement) was evident higher in group I as compared to group II. Comparison of gingival index score in group I and II revealed similar (p>0.05) gingival index score between the groups at 0 wk and 2 wk, while decreased significantly at 4 wk (p<0.05) in group I as compared to group II. Conclusion: The result from this study confirms that a dentifrice containing 0.3% triclosan, 2.0% PVM/ MA copolymer is efficacious in reducing gingivitis and supragingival plaque

Traumatic injuries of teeth are one of the main causes of emergency treatment in dental practice. They occur most commonly in young patients, and vary in severity from enamel fractures to avulsion. They can also occur secondary to falls, fights, sporting injuries and road accidents.
