an aid in diagnosis is by no means limited to dental caries, periodontal diseases, HIV seropositivity or cancer. Tests using saliva have made substantial
inroads into an array of clinical and research areas such as virology, immunology, microbiology, endocrinology, toxicology, psychiatry and forensics.
