The recent explosion of dengue cases, the speed at which the virus spreads, the increase in acute and chronic cases of chikungunya including debilitating arthralgia, the increase
in microcephaly and Guillan Barré Syndrome reports, call attention to its morbidity and mortality. In addition, it is difficult to make a differential diagnosis between these
diseases due to the lack of symptoms. The aim of this article is to contribute to the dissemination of the knowledge of arboviral diseases by presenting their
main characteristics. With the rheumatologist's vision, placing the focus to the associated arthropathy, I aim at stating the importance of the control of the vetor Aedes aegypti, when fighting involves the use of the Brazilian Army. For this purpose, the literature was reviewed in the Medline, SciELO, PubMed databases, information published in
official web pages of the Ministry of Defense, the Brazilian Army, Fiocruz and electronic news portals, which supported the discussion.
