In our study, we can confirm that teaching/learning oral French as a
foreign language is not an easy task, but it is, however, important in the
training of learners. The spoken word represents a daily language practice,
but it is poorly considered in the educational process. Considered as elusive,
ephemeral, it benefits of a poor representation in relation to the written
language practice, to which it is constantly compared and for which it is the
most often used only as support. For many language teachers, the spoken
language remains a conflictual, unclear and poorly defined practice in the
language class, being reduced to an uncertain practice. The purpose of this
study is to highlight the importance of the spoken word and to show that the
acquisition of oral communication skills can constitute, independently of the
written word, an objective in its own during a foreign language class. It is also
a question of proposing a methodology for oral teaching / learning and its
evaluation that takes into account its variations and specificities.
