This review on ozone elaborates on the different uses in the field of conservative dentistry and endodontics. It has been successfully used in since many years owing to its oxidizing property, making it an excellent antimicrobial agent. Moreover its potent anti-inflammatory property along with favourable cellular and hormonal immune response makes ozone an effective therapeutic agent. Also its ability to arrest and reverse carious lesions in a predictable way, opened up a new chapter in minimal intervention dentistry. It has been shown to stimulate remineralization of recent caries-affected teeth and is used as a preventive therapy in caries, root caries, and along with intracanal irrigants in endodontic treatment. Identification of individuals can be difficult in cases like accidents, or in mass disaster conditions. The oral cavity plays a significant role in identification of victims because it comprises of unique anatomy of dentition. However in certain cases, if teeth are lost due reasons like caries, periodontal problems. Human palatal rugae have been suggested as an alternative method for identification of the deceased for such conditions. Palatal rugae have been considered important for human identification due to its stability and accuracy, which is equivalent to that of fingerprint. Thus palatoscopy or palatal rugoscopy is used as evidence in forensic identification
The goal of this study was to compare facial profile attractiveness changes of patients treatedwith twin block appliance assessed by orthodontist and other dental specialist.Material and methods:The patient sample comprised 10 patients who undergo orthodontics treatment with Twin Block appliance. Triplets of facial profile photographs of the patients were randomly divided into two sets (before T0, after treatment T1). Two groups selected: 10 orthodontist and 10 dental specialistsfrom different other branches (Excluding oral maxillofacial surgeons) in Rural Dental College were selected. Each judge independently ranked both sets of photographs using Visual Analog Scale (VAS) with an interval of 1 week between ratings.Result:On average, both orthodontists and other dental specialist found an improvement in facial profile attractiveness through Twin Block appliances treatment (VAS-T0-T1=1.4 +/-3.2 cm). However, the individual perception of attractiveness varied greatly in the twogroups. For time periods (T0-T1), lower VAS ratings were given by other specialist than by orthodontists.Conclusion:Other dental specialist rated facial profiles more critically than orthodontist. Twin block therapy in patients generally improves profile attractiveness, which is appreciated by all dentists.
Failure in fixed partial dentures may occur even when utmost care is taken in the treatment procedure as well as in the fabrication of the prosthesis, the reasons are many and varied. The removal of a failed prosthesis often presents with a very challenging situation to the clinician and any solution which eases the task without causing any undue trauma to the supporting teeth as well as reduce the discomfort to the patient would be desirable.
