The present research was carried out to investigate the potential hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effect of leaf extract of Nepenthes khasiana Hook in Dexamethazone-induced Hyperlipidemia and Insulin Resistance in Rats. The experiment was done at two different doses of 250 & 500 mg/kg p.o. on day 11 of treatment, blood was collected for the estimation of serum glucose and lipid parameters. The effect of leaf extract was compared with standard glibenclamide at a dose of 500 mg/kg p.o. Leaf extract and glibenclamide significantly decreased (P<0.05) dexamethazone induced elevation of serum glucose when compared to the control group. Leaf extract at a dose of 500 mg/kg showed better activity than standard. In conclusion, the present study indicated that leaf extract of Nepenthes khasiana Hook show significant glucose and lipid lowering activity.

Carissa carandas L. (Apocynaceae) is a medicinal plant and is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of India. The present investigation attempted to find out the anti-inflammatory and anti-pyretic potentials of the methanol extract of C. carandas L. leaf. The extract was evaluated for phytochemical screening, which indicated the presence of steroids, glycosides, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids and carbohydrates. The anti-inflammatory property was evaluated by using different models like carrageenan, histamine and dextran induced hind paw oedema in Wister Albino rats. The extract at the dose of 200 mg/kg body weight exhibited maximum inhibition of inflammation, i.e., 72.10 %, 71.90 % and 71.80 % at the end of 3 hour with histamine, dextran and carrageenan induced rat paw oedema respectively. The anti-pyretic activity was evaluated by Brewer’s yeast induced pyrexia in albino rats. The extract at the dose of 100 and 200 mg/kg p.o., showed the significant reduction in yeast induced elevated temperature in a dose depended manner and the effect also extended up to 4 hours after the drug administration. The results of this study indicated that the methanol extract from leaves of C. carandas L. possess significant anti-inflammatory and anti-pyretic activities in rodent models.

The attempt was to study about anti-ulcer activity of hydroalchoholic stem bark extract of Garuga pinnata. The plant was already shown the astringent, stomachic, expectorant, antitumor and antidiabetic activities. The phytochemical studies were shown that the extract contains carbohydrates, flavonoids, saponnins, steroids, triterpenoids, and tannins. The animal model used here was pylorus ligation model. In this model ulcer index was studied in comparison with control and standard Cimetidine. In pylorus ligation model other parameters like changes of pH, gastric volume and acidity were studied. Hydroalchoholic stem bark extract of Garuga Pinnata was used in two doses 200mg/kg and 400mg/kg to study anti-ulcer activity. Different methods are having different kinds of mechanism for inducing ulcer in rats. In pylorus ligation the ulcer is due to the excess secretion of acids and lower pH level. The hydroalchoholic stem bark extract of Garuga pinnata shown a significant antiulcer activity. The hydroalchoholic stem bark extract of Garuga pinnata at dose of 400mg/kg was slight better than dose of 200mg/kg. The studies shown that hydroalchoholic stem bark extract of Garuga pinnata was having a remarkable antiulcer activity.
