Advanced oxidation processes are based on the generation of free radicals OH, which have high oxidative potential, degrading several components that pollute the environment. These processes attract lots of attention due to the increase of complexity and difficulty in the treatment of the effluent, resulting in the search for new technologies that may solve the problem of the waste. This study aimed to investigate the slurry treatment by means of Fenton process and photo-Fenton and to evaluate the reaction duration with TOC and DQO stochastic modeling. According to the results, stochastic model allowed the evaluation of the rationale kinetics of Fenton and photo-Fenton reactions, identifying maximum degradation in TOC and DQO, besides optimizing H2O2 levels and pH in the experimental design, enabling the reduction of costs in the reaction process.

Bridges and flood control structures are subject to external forces that cause deformation of the structure itself, as well as its foundations. This is as a result of deflection in horizontal axis of the structure and/or settlement in vertical direction. Any indication of abnormal behavior, may threaten the safety of the structure. The need for establishing Geodetic Control Network for bridge deformation monitoring was addressed in this research. A Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver with the capabilities of accurate long-term monitoring was used. The designed scheme, therefore, involved the establishment of the geodetic control network within the study area and monuments on the bridge itself, as well as the sets of observations and adjustments using least squares as standard goal data for deformation monitoring. It also includes the observation procedure, analysis method, mathematical and statistical models for initial deformation monitoring on which subsequent deformation monitoring of the bridge will be based. The results of established monitoring network obtained determined the vector of structural deformation of Jimeta Bridge.

This study examines how online learning in higher education has become a popular alternative to traditional education. It first gained popularity with working adults, but younger students are now capitalizing on this educational alternative, particularly in poorer urban areas, where the path to higher education includes working to sustain one self. The challenge for institutions of higher learning is to collaborate with instructors who not only technically qualified, but can also emotionally connect with their students using a medium that can be impersonal due to the technical and autonomous nature of governing one’s own work. This paper proposes six values-based characteristics of the emotionally intelligent professor, which would assist in personalizing teaching models and connecting with students on a personal level to better motivate online students. These characteristics are authentic leadership, servant leadership, transformational leadership, cultural/multicultural leadership, responsiveness, and patience.

The purpose of this work is to utilize the waste heat in cement industries.Cement industry is one of the strongest industries in terms of waste heat recovery (WHR) because of the reason that about 38% of heat utilised in clinker production process is exhausted to atmosphere from exhausts of suspension pre heater without utilisation of such cases. So this much heat is enough to affect the production, efficiency and turnover of an industry at such a big level and that’s why it emphasise the point of recovery of waste heat. In this study to recovery of waste heat through clinker production in cement factory we installed an external de-super heater in a boiler consisting a super heater. By this the temp is decreasing with the increasing of power. In our case study we saw the differences and improvements in flue gas temperature, steam temperature, steam pressure, steam flow rate, and de-super heater old percentage feedback after and before installing the de-super heater.

ABSTRACT Now a day, drying becomes one of the important post harvest operation for fruits, to increase shelf life. Sun drying is one of the oldest, but the cheapest and widely used methods. So the Direct Mode Solar Dryer is constructed and investigated experimentally, for the drying efficiency at a geographic location of Talsande, in the city of Kolhapur. The highest daily solar radiation, obtained at 12:00 p.m. was 857 W/m2. The highest ambient temperature was obtained at 12:00 p.m. i.e., 39.8ºC as well as the highest inside temperature was obtained at 13:30 p.m. & 14:30 pm i.e., 74.5ºC. The maximum temperature difference ΔT was observed, i.e., 40.5°C at 14:00 p.m. The time required to dry sapota from moisture content i.e., 52.38% to 2.22% is 9 hrs. The maximum efficiency of the dryer was obtained at 61.61%, for drying of sapota.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this work is to compare the effects of different types of filler (silica, mica) loadings and elastomeric content on interfacial properties, morphology and mechanical properties of polypropylene blends modified by 5, 10, 15, and 20 Vol % of poly (styrene-b-ethylene-co-butylene-b-styrene) SEBS added to the total blend volume. We considered the effect of foamed and informed blends properties to understand how the changes occur between adhesion, the filler and the matrix. The blends samples were homogenized in a twin screw extruder. The compatibility of PP and fillers focused on this study and further the foaming nature. The morphology of ternary polymer blends revealed by light and scanning electron microscope was compared with morphology predicted models based on interfacial properties. The results indicated that the general morphology of blends systems was determined primarily by interfacial properties, whereas the spherulitic morphology of the polypropylene matrix was a result of two competing effects: nucleation effect of filler and solidification effect of elastomer. Tensile and impact strength properties were mainly influenced by combining competitive effects of stiff filler and tough SEBS elastomer. Spherulitic morphology of the polypropylene matrix might have affected some mechanical properties additionally.

ABSTRACT In recent years, a considerable research effort has been devoted to the study of heat transfer induced by natural convection within a cavity. The interest in these phenomena of natural convection is due to the numerous potential applications in engineering. These applications include the extraction of geothermal energy, dispersion of pollutants in aquifers, safety problems in the core of nuclear reactors, and thermal building. In recent years, natural ventilation, similar to the phenomenon of the natural convection of living quarters, is approached numerically using primarily the CFD code. It is in this context that our study is located and wants an additional contribution and which is centered around the modeling and the simulation by finite volumes of a system of natural ventilation of a room in a region arid by a composite wall Used in the ventilation system or the passive heating of buildings (analysis of the natural convection phenomena). The results are presented in the form of temperature fields and current lines for Rayleigh number 105, air flow mass and local and average Nusselt numbers.

ABSTRACT The large share of energy consumed for the heating or cooling of buildings has led researchers to address the issue of heat exchange between the premises and the environment. Since much of the heat loss occurs through the roof, insulating materials slow down heat transfer through the building envelope. The quality of the insulation required depends on the climate, the exposure of the roofs and also the materials used for the construction. The choice of a material used as insulation depends naturally on its availability and cost. In this study, we propose to analyze the heat transfer in a ceiling-insulated building by a porous medium (glass wool), based on the effect of porosity on the heat exchange of the building and the external environment. For this purpose, Multiphysics-based Comsol software based on the finite element method was used to solve the equations governing heat transfer in the fluid medium as well as the porous medium. The results will be in the form of current lines, isotherms, temperature profiles and Nuselt numbers

ABSTRACT An automatic lawn cutter helps the user to cut the grass in their lawn with less effort. The different sensors are used to detect and avoid objects obstacles and humans intervention while moving. The objective of automatic lawn cutter is that the user can specify the area that is to be cut down with a machine and the height of grass to be cut as per the requirement is done by using the keypad. The design of automatic lawn cutter is done by using an AT mega microcontroller, RF module, IR sensors, motors, LCD Display and Keypad. This grass cutter can work in any of two modes i.e. ―Automatic and Manual. All hardware and software operations are controlled by AT mega microcontroller. The wireless communication between remote (manual mode) and robot is performed by the RF modules which covers a range of 50 meters. For obstacle detection, the robot is developed with IR sensor. Four motors are used, one for grass cutting and two for wheels. Driver IC L293D used to drive the motors. The entire circuitry is connected with 12V battery. All the operations are controlled by robot themselves in automatic mode and in case of hurdle detection, they change the lane and moves back. By using the keypad the expected task is performed In the manual mode to operate the robot. For transmission and reception of the information between remote and robot, RF module is used and to display the fetched information related to the detection of hurdle, LCD is used. And also the blade is attached with front bottom of the robot which is used for cutting the grass.

ABSTRACT A composite material is a macroscopic combination of two or more distinct materials, having a recognizable interface between them. Composites are used not only for their structural properties, but also for electrical, mechanical, and environmental applications. Present review deals with the recent development of lingo-cellulosic/lingo-cellulosic and lingo-cellulosic/synthetic fibers based reinforced hybrid composites. Fibers are taken from leaves of Pineapple leaf by retting process. This fiber along with glass fiber can be a new source of raw material and can be a potential replacement of the expensive and non renewable synthetic fiber. Isophthalic polyester is used as the binding agent. This work intended to present an outline of main results presented on hybrid composites focusing the attention in terms of processing, mechanical and heat resistant properties. Hybrid composites are one of the emerging fields in polymer science that triumph attention for application in various sectors ranging from automobile to the building industry.

ABSTRACT It’s a requirement in admission for every student to come with a mobile device for any programme admitted. The main objective of this study was to establish how the students use mobile devices in lecture rooms /classroom this was achieved by answering the following research questions: which mobile devices are owned by students? what are benefits of using mobile devices by students?and how mobile devices are used for learning?Quantitative design was employed using questionnaires containing a five (5) Likert scale items ranging from strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree-strongly disagree and open-ended items was utilized in this study to obtain quantitative information to answer the research questions: A total population of 331 was considered and sample size of 181 was obtained using Krejcie and Morgan table, stratified sampling was used to collect data from each stratum and data was analyzed using SPSS Version 16. The reliability of the data collected was tested using the Cronbach's reliability test coefficient where the overall value of all the options was on average 0.65 which was beyond recommended 0.6 for an instrument to be declared reliable. The findings showed that, 56.2% (91) respondents use smart phones, 40.7 %( 66) use Laptops in class and only 1.2 %( 2) use kindle in class room while no student indicated that he/she uses Ipad or PDA in classroom or lecture room. In terms of the benefits of using mobile devices, students the following among the top four (4) benefits; easy to access information, storage of information, mobility of the device and use of social media but cost effective and security of information were ranked last. The findings also showed students use mobile devices to access course materials, doing class work, send and receive e-mails and taking and sharing of notes but virtual classroom, discussion forums and using pre-recorded lecturers with PowerPoint were ranked among the last three (3). This study recommends that Smartphone’s and mobile devices should be allowed to use by students, lecturer to start virtual classroom, discussion forums and using pre-recorded lecturers with PowerPoint so that the students can also benefit from these functionalities since they were ranked among the last three(3) services not used.

Biosorption has been considered as effective process of bioremediation for removal of heavy metals in an ecosystem. In this study, metal resistant bacterial strains were isolated from the soil sample rich in heavy metals like Lead (Pb), Nickel (Ni) and Copper (Cu). Isolates were evaluated for their metal resistant and degradation capacity for applicability in heavy metal removal from the soil. Based on this, one efficient gram positive strain has been characterized by 16S rDNA sequencing and identified as B. licheniformis. The effect of metals concentration of biomass and metal sorption efficiency was determined. The optimization study showed that, optimum pH for isolate is 6.0 for Pb, 6.5 for Cu and 7.0 for Ni absorption; optimum media components are 1% glucose, 100 ml of minimal salt solution and 1 g of nitrogen source per liter. The change on surface morphology of cell wall was studied by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Changes in Chemical functional groups on the surface of bacteria with metal absorption were studied by, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and crystalline nature by X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The bioreactor was designed and operated at optimized conditions with three different flow rates of medium and result showed the maximum sorption of Pb 86 ± 5% at 192 h, Ni 77 ± 8% at 240 h and Cu 80 ± 6% at 216 h.

Diesel engines are one of the most important prime movers for mobility and reorganized power generation and are categorized by heterogeneous combustion. Heterogeneous combustion leads to formation of soot and NOx in the combustion chamber. The gasoline injection system, which is the heart of an engine, plays a pivotal role in the fuel–air mixing processes inside the combustion chamber. Fuel atomization activities are mainly contingent on constraints such as nozzle diameter, injection pressure, ambient conditions, and nozzle geometry. Fuel atomization also depends on fuel properties such as viscosity, density, surface tension, and vapor pressure. The main objective of our research work is to design and development of fuel injector holder in high pressure spray chamber, which is used to develop spray formation and understand the behavior of various fuel spray characteristics like diesel and bio-diesel. An important parameters are used to find in the characteristics are fuel spray, fuel spray length, fuel regions, droplet size. In our research also concentrate to arrest the leak formation in high pressure spray chamber.

This project deals with different resource curves used in the software and when applied to a real time we capture the effects and generate reports which can be used to achieve the objective.
