Because of the limitation for the traditional local binary pattern (LBP) operator in facial expression recognition, an effective facial expression recognition algorithm based on completed local binary pattern (CLBP) is proposed. Firstly, the method performs face segmentation and illumination normalization on original image. Secondly, CLBP operator is used to extract facial expression features from the preprocessed image. CLBP histograms could be combined by CLBP-Center (CLBP_C), CLBP-Magnitude (CLBP_M) and CLBP-Sign (CLBP_S) features in two ways, jointly or hybridly. Lastly, the nearest neighbour classifier is applied for classifying and recognizing the CLBP histograms. The experiments on JAFFE and Oulu-CASIA facial expression databases demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can achieve better performance than using the traditional LBP facial expression method. In addition, our algorithm can achieve good performance in complex illumination conditions.

Users need help to search and to filter out irrelevant information based on their demand. In this Paper an approach for Semantic Recommendation system which uses Page rank based on links between Web pages, to compute relevance to user search query. It works on the assumption that a welldesigned Webpage should have an informative title. The user search terms are mapped to the refined URL's extracted from the Google Server. These terms in a user query have a different degree of importance based on whether they occur inside title, description or anchor text of the document. Recommendation system has to find the relevant Web pages and prioritize them. Therefore an optimal weighting scheme for these components is required for search engines to prioritize relevant documents near the top for user searches. Personalized Recommendation System provides other user with a recommendation results for based on the common shared search queries.

To meet the needs of city development, the use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and the smart systems is the very quick and valuable source. However, thousands of IoT devices are interconnecting and communicating with each other over the Internet results in generating a huge amount of data, termed as Big Data. To integrate IoT services and processing Big Data in an efficient way aimed at smart city is a challenging task. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed a system for smart city development based on IoT using Big Data Analytics. We use sensors deployment including smart home sensors, vehicular networking, weather and water sensors, smart parking sensor, and surveillance objects, etc. initially a four-tier architecture is proposed, which includes 1) Bottom Tier: which is responsible for IoT sources, data generations, and collections 2) Intermediate Tier-1: That is responsible for all type of communication between sensors, relays, base stations, the internet, etc. 3) Intermediate Tier 2: it is responsible for data management and processing using Hadoop framework, and 4) Top tier: is responsible for application and usage of the data analysis and results generated. The collected data from all smart system is processed at real-time to achieve smart cities using Hadoop with Spark, VoltDB, Storm or S4. We use existing datasets by various researchers including smart homes, smart parking weather, pollution, and vehicle for analysis and testing. All the datasets are replayed to test the real-time efficiency of the system. Finally, we evaluated the system by efficiency in term of throughput and processing time

Statistical Models of Shape and Appearance require annotation of the bones of the hand of children and young adults. Due to very large variation in the shape and appearance of these bones, automatic annotation is particularly challenging. Statistical Models of Shape and Appearance have been found useful in several medical image analysis and other applications. In this work we locate sparse points on the bones of the hand with an automatic system which uses a Constrained Local Model with Random Forest Regression Voting. These sparse points were then used as input to a groupwise registration algorithm. The control point of the groupwise algorithm can then be used to propagate manually annotated points to other images. The resulting propagation may be used to build Statistical models. By analysing performance on dataset of 537 digitized images of normal children we achieved an automatic annotation accuracy of a mean point to curve error of 0.94mm ± 0.01 and a median error 0.92mm

This work addresses the problem of automatic determination of skeletal maturity in children and young adults. Skeletal age assessment is important for diagnosing and monitoring growth and endocrine disorders. We have constructed a system which uses Statistical Models of Shape and Appearance to locate bones in a radiograph and to predict skeletal maturity. By analysing the performance on a dataset of about 600 digitised radiographs of normal children we show that different variants of Part+Geometry (P+G) models are sufficient to initialise an automatic registration algorithm. We built global models of whole hand and local models of individual bones. We used the same P+G models to locate salient bones of the hand to initialise an Active Appearance Model (AAM) to match all the bones of the hand in a radiograph. We improved our age estimation results by using multiple local age group models and multiple local age estimators. We obtained an accuracy of 0.75mm and 0.70mm on sparse points placement for initialization of automatic registrations and Active Appearance models fitting respectively. We achieved a sub-millimeter accuracy for automatic model annotation and for locating the bones in a new radiograph. Our skeletal maturity methodology achieved an accuracy in estimating Skeletal Age of mean absolute error of 0.41 ± 0.02 years and 0.47 ± 0.03 years for female and male respectively

Elections have been found to be a panacae for good governance. Governments become accountatble when voters are allowed to choose who represent them. Traditional manual based balloting system have been shown to be susceptible to elections malpractices. This is apart from the huge financial and other costs associated with manual ballotting. This work adresses the above issues by designing and implementing an Android tablet based Electronic ballotting System. An android-based application has been developed using android programming kit. An electronic ballot paper was simulated using a Graphical user interface (GUI) on a touchscreen device to eliminate the use of keyboard and mouse to avoid complications for voters. At the conclusion of polling, results are dispayed. An electronic based Voter Verified Audit Trail (VVAT) was implemented to ensure recount is possible where neccessary. Results of tests shows that usability of the system is high while accuracy have been shown to better and more cost effective than a manual ballotting system.

In the honeywords approach default passwords are used to detect attacks against hashed password databases. For each user account, the list of password is stored with several honeywords. If honeywords are selected properly, an attacker who steals a file of hashed passwords cannot be sure if it is the real password or a honeyword for any account. Login with a honeyword will trigger an alarm notifying the administrator about a password file breach. At the expense of increasing the storage requirement, the honeyindex system is an effective solution to the detection of password file disclosure events. Also, as this approach uses existing user index as a honeyindex of other user it reduce storage cost as compare to honeyword scheme.

The Philippines is an agricultural country with a vast amount of agricultural wastes. The country’s initiatives to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions through the Biofuels Law (RA 9367) have encouraged the use of bio-based fuel sources. Biogas is a renewable, high-quality fuel which can be produced from various organic raw materials. This study investigated the production of biogas from the anaerobic codigestion of cattle manure with various feedstock such as rice straw, coconut shell, and sewage sludge. Results showed that the methane production increased by 162% from the co-digestion of cow manure with sewage sludge and co-digestion of cow manure with coconut shell and rice straw undergoes ammonia inhibition. With these, the anaerobic co-digestion of cow manure with sewage sludge has the best effect on the treatment of biomass feedstocks of rice straw coconut shell and sewage sludge at various treatment. This experiment would give a viable estimate of the possible methane production from co-digestion of these resources. The enhancement of the biogas yield was attributed to the improvement of biodegradability of cow manure through the addition of sewage sludge. These results are contributing to develop a feasible biogas production from rice straw, coconut shell, and sewage sludge

However, with increasing growth of social networks, reliable and congestion-free communication becomes difficult due to its complexity and dynamic nature of user movement. The existing system control overhead and provide reliable transmission for popular packets in ad-Hoc social networks. However, this solution is not suitable for ASNETs where the allocation of bandwidth is based on social popularity of nodes. In order to make efficient use of bandwidth, a newest version of TCP named TCP Vegas is used to estimate the available bandwidth using bandwidth estimation scheme. This scheme improves transmission reliability by assigning bandwidth to users based on their popularity levels.

That means the thief is arrested. This thesis consists of two sections. The transmitter section consists of a PIR sensor, a motor a micro controller. Underwater images suffer from less visibility problem due to principal of light refraction under water environment. Therefore, this paper address the problem of enhancing the contrast of the underwater images captured under different lightning conditions and depths. This paper presenting the comparison of the two distinct popular enhancement methods and it concluded that this different method generates two different image sets from original low contrast image. These sets can be further utilized for object segmentation using fuzzy based clustering methods efficiently. Paper presents enhancement using contrast limit adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) and, global contrast adjustment method.. The CLAHE method is used to the images so that contrast of output images is improved also gives better information. It is concluded that using the different contrast enhancement method different image data set can be created for same input image which can be utilized for higher level processing task and features extractions.

But textual passwords are vulnerable to eves dropping, dictionary attacks, and shoulder surfing. Graphical passwords are introduced as alternative techniques to textual passwords. Most of the graphical schemes are vulnerable to shoulder surfing. To address this problem, text is combined with colors to generate session passwords for authentication. A usability testing is carried out to measure the satisfactory level of users on the completeness of the system, which include factors such as, total response time to access the system, remembering of password using the system and resistant to shoulder surfing. The testing result shows that the modified colour pass authentication method is resistant to shoulder surfing.

The effect of illumination variation is one of challenging problems in a face recognition system, which can dramatically reduce the performance of face recognition. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposed a novel method for face recognition. First of all, illumination insensitive representation of image is extracted, which is based on the ratio of gradient amplitude to the original image intensity in the domain. Then, combined with the analysis of NS-LDA algorithm for feature extraction, and finally classified with the nearest distance classifier. Unfortunately, the major limitation of such an existing approach is that, a news feed may contain messages related to the same location (i.e., point-of-interest) or the same category of locations (e.g., food, entertainment or sport). We argue that diversity is a very important feature for location-aware news feeds because it helps users discover new places and activities. In this paper, we propose D-MobiFeed; a new LANF system enables a user to specify the minimum number of message categories (h) for the messages in a news feed. In D-MobiFeed, our objective is to efficiently schedule news feeds for a mobile user at her current and predicted locations, such that (i) each news feed contains messages belonging to at least h different categories, and (ii) their total relevance to the user is maximized. To achieve this objective, we formulate the problem into two parts, namely, a decision problem and an optimization problem. For the decision problem, we provide an exact solution by modeling it as a maximum flow problem and proving its correctness. The optimization problem is solved by our proposed three-stage heuristic algorithm. We conduct a user study and experiments to evaluate the performance of D-MobiFeed using a real data set crawled from Foursquare. Experimental results show that our proposed three-stage heuristic scheduling algorithm outperforms the brute-force optimal algorithm by at least an order of magnitude in terms of running time and the relative error incurred by the heuristic algorithm is below 1%. D-MobiFeed with the location prediction method effectively improves the relevance, diversity, and efficiency of news feeds.

Networks are getting larger and more complex, yet administrators rely on rudimentary tools such as ping and trace route to debug problems. We propose an automated and systematic approach for testing and debugging networks called “Automatic Test Packet Generation” (ATPG). ATPG reads router configurations and generates a device-independent model. The model is used to generate a minimum set of test packets to (minimally) exercise every link in the network or (maximally) exercise every rule in the network. Test packets are sent periodically, and detected failures trigger a separate mechanism to localize the fault. ATPG can detect both functional (e.g., incorrect firewall rule) and performance problems (e.g., congested queue). ATPG complements but goes beyond earlier work in static checking (which cannot detect liveness or performance faults) or fault localization (which only localize faults given liveness results). We describe our prototype ATPG implementation and results on two real-world data sets: Stanford University’s backbone network and Internet2. We find that a small number of test packets suffice to test all rules in these networks: For example, 4000 packets can cover all rules in Stanford backbone network, while 54 are enough to cover all links. Sending 4000 test packets 10 times per second consume less than 1% of link capacity. ATPG code and the data sets are publicly available

Malicious and selfish behaviors represent a serious threat against routing in disruption tolerant networks. Due to the unique network characteristics, designing a misbehavior detection scheme in DTN is regarded as a great challenge. In this paper, we propose iTrust, a probabilistic misbehavior detection scheme, for secure DTN routing toward efficient trust establishment. Selfish node B receives the packets from node A but launches the black hole attack by refusing to forward the packets to the next hop receiver C. Since there may be no neighboring nodes at the moment that B meets C, the misbehavior cannot be detected due to lack of witness, which renders the monitoring-based misbehavior detection less. With the rapid development of Internet, more and more organizations connect their databases to the Internet for resource sharing. However, due to developers' lack of knowledge of all possible attacks, web applications become vulnerable to multiple attacks. Thus the network databases could face multiple threats. Web applications generally consist of a three tier architecture where database is in the third pole, which is the most valuable asset in any organization. SQL injection is an attack technique in which specially crafted input string is entered in user input field. It is submitted to server and result is returned to the user. In SQL injection vulnerability, the database server is forced to execute malicious operations which may cause the data loss or corruption, denial of access, and unauthentic access to sensitive data by crafting specific inputs. An attacker can directly compromise the database, and that is why this is a most threatening web attack. SQL injection attack occupies first position in top ten vulnerabilities as specified by Open Web Application Security Project. It is probably the most common Website vulnerability today. Current scenarios which provide solutions to SQL injection attack either have limited scope i.e. Can‘t be implemented across all platforms, or do not cover all types of SQL injection attacks. In this work we implement Message Authentication Code (MAC) based solution against SQL injection attacks. The model works both on client and server side. Client side implements a filter function and server side is based on information theory. MAC of static and dynamic queries is compared to detect SQL injection attack.

Any protocol design for WSNs needs to consider the limitations of sensor nodes carefully. In UWSNs, turbulent conditions of the environments where the sensor nodes are deployed can cause the nodes to die. A contributing effort to explore the reliability issues in multimodal fusion sensor networks. We presented the system reliability for the case of two types of sensors and three types of sensors. WSNs hold the promise of many applications in the area of monitoring and control systems. Many properties of the environment can be observed by the monitoring system with the advent of cheap and tiny sensors. All these applications are meant for the specific purposes, and therefore maintaining data transport reliability is one of the major concern and the most important challenge. To address the reliability, we survey the various existing techniques; each of them has its own unique working to ensure the reliability. Some of the techniques use retransmission mechanism while others use redundant information for insuring the reliability.In the proposed process focus on the routing problem that affects the reliability of WSN. Hereby this problem can be overcome by implementing the Beacon vector routing protocol (BVR) in Hybrid Mechanism. By finding the alternative node in case of any node failure accrues. The load balancing is one of the major constraints in the wireless sensor network. Single mobile sink give rise to the collision, the packet loss and communication delay. Thus usage of two mobile sink based approach is proposed. Identifying the sink location and routing path is the most challenging task in a wireless sensor network. In this scheme based upon the number of nodes, the nodes are divided into clusters, by the common node id and coordinate values the cluster heads will communicate to their respective mobile sink with the shortest routing algorithm. Update information of the sink to every cluster head leads to abundant energy usage and decrease the lifetime of the network, which is overcome in this approach. Proposed method performance is compared with the current approach named EECLA .Simulation results show that there is a vast improvement in the lifetime of the wireless sensor network when compared with the existing scheme

The robot built on the USAR team is capable of navigating the difficult terrain of a disaster site but lacks sensors for victim detection. The contribution of this work is to provide a sensor suite for human detection and Accident Detection in the urban disaster environment. Underground communication is necessary to monitor underground environmental parameter such as temperature, Humidity, toxic gas etc. and take necessary actions accordingly to avoid any types of hazard. Its purpose is to find and locate human victims who have been trapped by rubble inside damaged buildings. Conditions in a disaster area are extreme with many unknown parameters. Victims may be covered in debris, trapped in voids, or entombed, making it difficult to find them and determine their state of health. This is why it will be important to choose a set of different sensors which are complementary and able to operate in these conditions.This research consists of three main parts. The first step will be to determine the state of the art in USAR robotics, with special emphasis on sensors for victim detection. Next, a set of appropriate and complementary sensors will be selected in accordance with chosen criteria, mainly that the sensors be lowcost and lightweight.The selected sensors will be integrated with the USAR robot. This involved developing hardware and low level data acquisition software solutions. Tests will be used to determine the robustness, limitations, and accuracy of each sensor and this data will be used to develop a comprehensive system that fuses the information from all the sensors to determine the location and probability of human presence. Finally, a graphical user interface will be developed to provide useful information back to the human operator while allowing the user the power to interact with individual sensors

In this work we describe our experiences in designing an improved animal monitoring sensor system and low-level software for sensor node control and communication. The target animals for this particular research are wild lynxes or canines; however it can be extended to other animal species.The LynxNet system is based on tracking collars, built around TMote Mini sensor nodes, sensors, GPS and 433MHz radio, and stationary base stations, placed at the locations that are frequented by the animals. The need for power generation in India increases day by day due to various factors. Nearly 70% of the power production is from the thermal power plants in various locations of the country. Monitoring and control of these power plants at all times is a must, since these power plants are operated continuously. Boiler is the major part of any thermal power plant. Hence monitoring the boiler parameters such as temperature, pressure and humidity are of great importance in power plant. It is not always possible for continuous monitoring in the plant premises because of an unpleasant industrial environment. In this project it is proposed to develop remote monitoring and control of boiler parameters using wireless communication. The proposed method provides a complete solution for these constraints in remote monitoring by using various sensors for temperature, pressure and humidity measurement. This method uses Internet of Things (IoT) as the platform of communication. The proposed method also provides an option for monitoring and control even in remote location in addition to the control room. Internet of Things (IoT) will play a major role in the future concept of power plant integration. The proposed method will suit and provide a start-up initiation for this future concept.

The congestion control within the TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) plays a critical role in amending data rate to evade congestion from happening possibilities. Based on TCP communication sender not only guarantees the successful packet delivery, but also maintains the correct sequence of packets by receiving the frequent acknowledgement from the receiver. In this research we proposed a congestion control scheme with modified TCP and queue length variation with OLSR routing protocol in MANET. The TCP protocol performance is modified by forwarding busy channel signals to predecessor nodes through intermediate nodes in network. The congestion is controlled by that novel method of detecting the node is busy or ready for communication. If the communication is start in network and the possibility if congestion is arise, then in that case the queue length is handle the possibility of congestion. The congestion is minimized due to awaring about the channel busy status and nodes buffer status or queue status. The TCP protocol is able to handle the congestion situation but i.e. completely based on acknowledgement of receiver and also not very effective to control it. The proposed TCP congestion control OLSR routing is improves the network performance by reducing packet loss. The performance of network is measure through performance metrics like throughput, PDF and Routing overhead in different node density scenarios. The performance of proposed scheme is provides the better results.

It is very hard to debug networks. Every day network engineers struggle with router fiber cuts, misconfigurations, mislabeled cables, faulty interfaces, software bugs, intermittent links and additional reasons that are reason for networks to behave badly, or be unsuccessful completely. Network engineers chase down bugs by means of the most elementary tools like ping and trace route, and trail down origin causes by means of combination of perception and wisdom. Debugging networks is just becoming difficult as networks are getting larger and are getting more complex. This paper proposes an automatic testing and debugging procedure for verifying the various network conditions and to provide safe reaching of the packets to the desired destination. The paper uses the Automatic Test Packet Generation system for debugging and adds an enhancement to that system which restricts the number of test packets generated and removes the threshold violation over the file size limit. This reduces the time taken to debug the entire system.

Twitter has become popular social networking site where users share their up-to-date information. The error-prone and short nature of tweets makes the word-based representation less reliable. Tweet segmentation is the process of splitting tweets into meaning segments so that its semantic meaning is well conserved and is easy to be used by downstream applications. Segmentation is done based on stickiness score considering both global and local context. Clustering of tweets are done using DBSCAN method with Jaccard Coefficient as the similarity measure. The sentimental variations in tweets are measured based on segmentation. The experimental evaluation shows that the global terms using wikilinks are more efficient than the normal segmentation. Clustering is more effective using DBSCAN algorithm, which is best for uncertain data
